Hello everyone! I'm so so so so sorry for taking forever to update! I was stuck with this chapter, and it's going to be short but I just wanted to update so I quickly wrote up something small! I'm seriously sorry for not updating sooner! I explained why I didn't update, but I still want to apologise since I promised to update like two or three weeks ago...

Anyways, thank you all for your continued support of this story! I know I've been a crap writer lately, but my brain seriously has no concentration, so I decided to write this while I could! It's not much, but I swear by the angel to update sooner and with a longer chapter!

I'm not giving this story up. This story was my first success and means so much to me. I'm not quitting, but it's better to update late than never update again!

I want to thank you all that continue to support this story by viewing it, following it, favoriting and reviewing it! I'm so sorry for being a crappy updater, I'm still working out a few things, but I plan to keep updating!

Refgirl21: So sorry I've kept you waiting! I solemnly promise not to give up!

HP-TMI-TS: I absolutely loved that song! I meant to send a message after I read it, but I never got around to it! I literally fell out of my seat the first time I read it! (I got stared at since I was in school, but it was worth it! :D)

greygirl2358: I loved the part you wrote about Jace and Jonathan! I agree they need to work together, but being realistic...they don't work well together. Sebastian had to be controlling Jace in COLS just to get along with him! I'm glad you kept reading the 2 years later bit, I had a feeling it would throw people off! :L

ilubcupcakes: I wouldn't judge your name! My personal twitter account name is stupid (Which I use on purpose) so I can't judge other people! :D Thank you for following me, I've neglected my twitter duties, mostly because I don't really like the site, but it's handy for this! :P

Maddie178 : Aw thank you! It's the longest story I've done so far! :D I always wondered that in the books as well! But all will be revealed soon...;) Don't want to spoil anything!

Kailey: I'm so sorry for taking forever! I plan to fix that! Jonathan is sadly not in this chapter since its only a quick update...but you can count on Jonathan having a long part in the next chapter! And I don't want to reveal too much, but about the demon blood question, I will say that you're correct! Valentine is giving Clary demon blood which gives her nightmares as punishment. That is all I'm going to reveal!

Imogen AOALMJ: I like your idea, but I don't think the portal will work that way :/ Good idea though!

Author IzzyV : Oh god that must have taken forever! but I appreciate it! :D Yeah I was going to have him be evil, but then I decided this story was confusing enough and didn't need another bad guy...yet ;)

TheTinyTimelord: Thank you for your suggestion! I was prescribed them before, but they made me really confused...Every tablet I took for my sleep seemed to ware off and confuse me after a while...I don't know why... :/

Guest: Thank you for understanding! My sleep study went horrible and I won't know the result for another week or two :/ I got like two hours sleep! :( Thank you for understanding my reasons aginst sleeping tablets! I'd rather find the reason for my lack of sleep than use a drug solution :/

elijahlover: Thank you! :)

Imogen AOALMJ: Aw thank you! You have no idea what that means to me! I'm glad you like my writing! I don't know what I would do without any support from people like you! :')

NicoleDiAngelo16: Calm down! I'm not giving up any of my stories! I just need to finish the ones I'm writing and then I'm going to re-start Love at its finest!

Clary POV

Pain. That was her life now. Endless pain.

After training with her father, Clary had successfully (and miraculously) gotten through the torment without further punishment.

She felt like she had fallen down a mounting, landed on spikes of fire and then thrown in a bath of acid. She was surprised she didn't fall unconscious from the blood loss, of course her father wouldn't let her escape her punishments.

She didn't know why he treated her so differently. As soon as she had woken up from being stabbed in the stomach, her father, who normally would have been concerned, had looked at her with a blank expression. He told her there was food prepared for her and when she was finished, they would be training for the rest of the day.

She had asked on multiple occasions to know what was going on, why she was being punished so frequently and harshly. Her answer was always punishment.

She was walking towards her room, wanting to take a hot shower that would hopefully wash off the blood and sweat she was sure clinging to every part of her body. she had learned that the water wouldn't help her back. She was sure nothing would help her back except a stele.

She wasn't allowed to wield a stele any more. Her father had stopped those lessons as soon as she got back from New York. The only contact with a stele she had was if she broke a bone or if father felt she needed to be restrained while being punished.

When she walked past servants, they looked at her with pity. They held so much sympathy for her, most likely because they could hear her screams of agony during her punishments and knew she was suffering. She couldn't believe how sympathetic they were, seeing as she had treated them like filth before she had gone to New York. She wasn't sure if she had ever had so much sympathy given to her...

And yet, she hated it.

She felt like she was revealing how weak she was. That she wasn't capable any more of being strong. That her father had beaten any energy she had.

If her life was on the line, she wouldn't go down without giving her all to survive.

She felt adrenaline pump through her tired and battered body as her anger flooded through her. She didn't want anyone's sympathy. She didn't deserve her brutal punishments over stupid things like wrong footing or asking a simple question.

For once, in a long time, Clary was able to forget about her throbbing back. She concentrated on her anger, allowing t to fuel her as she turned in her spot and headed towards the weapons room her father didn't lock till training was finished for the day.

She felt mixed emotions about what she was about to do next. She wanted to forget that she was about to push her father, the man who raised and taught her, into a fight, but knew that because it was her father that had caused her so much anger, confusion and pain was what was fuelling her energy and she didn't want to waste any of it.

She made her way slowly down the hallway, trying to get the upper hand of her father. She needed to get to the weapons room without him catching her. If he heard her rummaging through the weapons, he would most definitely not hesitate to punish her.

She was half way down the hallway when she heard raised voices. One belonged to her father, the other sounded familiar, but she couldn't place it. She got nearer to the voices, wanting to know what was being said.

"-be controlled by you any more!" her father's voice shouted, slightly muffled through the wooden door.

A feminine voice chuckled before saying "There isn't much you can do about it, is there Valentine?"

Clary could hear her father growl in frustration, the sound of glass being shattered soon followed. "We are on the same side! Why are you punishing her?" he asked, his voice completely filled with anger.

"It's because of her that he became a traitor. It's because of her that he wouldn't embrace his true nature. And it's because you were too soft with her, that she fails to do the simplest things." The same feminine voice said.

"That does not justify you controlling me to harm my daughter." Her father said, causing Clary to tense up. The adrenaline coursing through her body had started to seep out of her. But she was too stunned to realise how painful her whip inflicted back was.

"If you want her to be a solider in your army, you can't treat her like a prized jewel. She needs to be ready to kill without a second thought. She needs to learn to stop being dependant on others. She needs to be the solider Jonathan was meant to be."

Clary could hear footsteps coming closer to the door. She quickly tried to run into one of the closest rooms, but her back was now flaring in pain. She stumbled and gasped from the pain, using her hands to catch her balance as she fell against a wall.

She heard a door open, but she was unable to turn around. She felt arms wrap around her, but her vision was already becoming dark. Had she lost too much blood from her punishment and the adrenaline had just used up every bit of energy she had? Or was the revelation that her father was being controlled to hurt her just that too much to bear after she had planned to attack him?

She didn't know what was causing her vision to blur and her mind to become sluggish. She just wanted to fall into the oncoming darkness. She knew the darkness would numb her pain and she could deal with her new-found information another time.

"Clarissa, stay awake." Her father's voice broke through to her subconscious. He sounded slurred and muffled to her.

She wasn't sure if she was capable to speak, but she tried to speak anyway. She tried to say "Leave me alone." but she fell into darkness before she could comprehend what she said.

Sorry this chapter wasn't long, I just wanted to update! I will update a longer chapter next time!

This update wasn't that great, but I wrote it the best I could in a short amount of time! I hope you enjoyed it and I know I said this before and didn't fall through with it, but I will try to update soon!

Also, I was procrastinating yesterday on Facebook and decided to make a page! The link is on my profile, it's called 'Screw it, I'm going to be a Shadowhunter." I don't know what I'm going to do with the page yet, but I might use it more than my twitter account, to tell you all about updates and stuff!

Oh and also, HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! :D

Till next time ~Maraudergirl68448
