Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter. Oh the money I would have if I did though…instead I am just a lowly student drowning in dept…sigh…but that is OKAY! At least I have fanfiction to make me feel better!

A/N: Alright, so, I said I had more ideas for this story, and here is one of them! Yay! I actually probably wouldn't have written this for a long time to come, but my cousin was having a hard time following a break up with her boyfriend and I had do something to cheer her up! So, because the first question she asks me whenever she sees me is whether or not I've written Draco and Hermione's wedding yet, I decided to write it for her, and for you lovely readers who have made this story such an AMAZING success. Seriously, it is unprecedented how much love this story has brought my way. So anyway, with no further ado, I dedicate this chapter (and the one following it) to my cousin romancefreak4ever. May you all enjoy it!

All I Want
Chapter 6: Well I Never!

-XxxX-

"What's he doing here?" Hermione sat back from where she'd been leaning over to whisper to Draco and glanced over to find a red faced Ron glaring at the two of them.

Draco smirked and raised an eyebrow; "Whatever do you mean Wealsey?" his voice was cool and snarky, "Why wouldn't I be at an Order of the Phoenix meeting?" Hermione pressed her face into his shoulder with a giggle as she noticed Ron and Ginny both begin to grow even redder, if that were possible. Draco turned his head and pressed a kiss to her hair as he wrapped a possessive and protective arm around her shoulders.

"You aren't an Order member!" Molly blustered, "You are a Death Eater, the scourge of this earth! You hate mudbloods—"

Draco jerked to his feet, his face turning to stone, "I'd thank you never to use that word in my presence again Mrs. Weasley," he growled, "How you think of muggle-borns on your own time is none of my concern, but when you are around my fiancé and me you will used respectful terms when referring to those not of magical birth."

Hermione glanced up at Draco with a smiled on her lips, if there was one thing Draco was good at it was surprising people, and from the looks on the Weasley's faces, he'd surprised them all. She glanced around the table to find various Order members watching the drama unfold before them with rapt attention. It wasn't every day someone managed to put the Weasley matriarch in her place and it seemed many of them were glad to see it finally happening. Molly contesters had been in short supply since Sirius passed away. Her eyes crossed over to where Neville was fingering his wand and George was ignoring the whole situation all together by talking to Angela even though it was clear she was focused on her future in-laws reactions.

She spotted Luna looking completely unconcerned about the whole situation, and McGonagall glaring at the Weasleys with an expression of contempt, and then there was Harry sitting back looking unconcerned, but Hermione could tell from his eyes that he was ready to jump to Draco's aid should the need arise. She smiled internally as she remembered how quickly Draco and Harry had fallen into an easy friendship full of snark and bantering. They bettered the other, Harry made Draco more patient and introduced him to Andromeda (who'd been tearfully happy with the reunion) and allowed Draco to visit and watch Teddy on multiple occasions; Draco helped Harry keep grounded, whenever something would come along that would fluff Harry's ego, or he'd do something that most people weren't allowed to do, Draco was there to swiftly put him in his place. Hermione thought Harry rather liked having someone call him out on the things he did that no one else was allowed to do.

Dueling was a common pastime for the two men, both with words and with magic. They could banter and argue until they were both blue in the face, both believing their opinions on different matters were the correct opinions and refusing to be swayed even when they knew they were wrong. And when they dueled with magic, whew, look out. Spells that most wizards didn't even know existed would be flung around as if they were common every day spells; they'd batter, curse and hex each other until someone, generally Hermione, but sometimes Neville or even one time McGonagall (it hadn't gone well for them that time) told them it was time to quit. They both realized however that no matter how good they each were, neither of them stood a chance against Hermione when she put her mind to it.

Harry could now be found visiting Hogwarts frequently, he'd stop in with Teddy to visit with Hermione, Draco and occasionally Neville. He came to their game nights and he'd mended fences with the friends he'd wrongfully alienated. He had been there for Neville and Luna's wedding a few months back, and that was where he'd first officially met Lexi. When Harry had first begun talking about this new love interest, Hermione hadn't been sure she knew who the woman was, but when Harry commented that she may have seen her working for George in his Hogsmeade shop, she remembered her instantly. Her multi-colored hair streaks, oddly colored cat eyes and the punky hair style were hard to forget.

Soon enough Harry had been bringing not only Teddy but Lexi around to their game nights and no one was more surprised than Harry when Lexi and Draco formed a quick sibling bond. At times she thought it may still throw Harry off a bit the way the two acted around one another.

All in all the last few months had been relatively quiet. There had been no conflicts with the Weasleys, though Bill and Fleur had shown up one morning to explain to Hermione that whatever she thought they thought of her, it was wrong. They'd just discovered that Ginny had been sending angry letters to Hermione under the guise of her brothers. Truly Bill held no animosity towards Hermione, and as it turned out, neither did Charlie or Arthur. Fleur actually went as far as to admit to being abundantly pleased that someone had so effectively put Molly Weasley and her two terrors in their place. Apparently Fleur was no more a fan of Molly or Ginny then they were of her. But as Hermione had discovered over the last few months, Fleur was actually an amazing woman to know; it helped that both Hermione and Draco spoke fluent French, of course.

Looking up as she realized that Ginny was in the middle of a long pointless rant that had her turning purple, Hermione couldn't help but roll her eyes. Really, this was the first time she'd seen any of the three demons in months, and all they could do was demand to know why Draco was there, and then demand that McGonagall throw him and his fiancé—the sarcasm was obvious in the word—out of the meeting?

It was at this point that McGonagall finally rose to her feet, her posture regal. Her Scottish lilt came out in full force as she spoke firmly, "Draco Malfoy is at this meeting because he is an actual member of the Order," she stated, "Neither he nor Hermione will be asked to leave the meeting, as they have more right to be her than either you or your brother have, Miss Weasley," Ginny's jaw dropped as Ron's face took on a look of shocked surprise.

"You let him join the Order?" Ron shouted, glaring first at McGonagall then at Draco before his eyes dropped to Hermione with loathing. Draco moved to block Hermione from his glare and stared stoically back at the red head in front of him, "and what do you mean he has more right to be here than us?"

McGonagall rolled her eyes, "It means, Mr. Weasley, that unlike you and Miss Weasley, Draco is an actual member of the Order. Not just an honorary one."

"Honorary?" Ginny shrilled, "After everything we did during the war, we are only honorary members?"

Hermione raised an eyebrow and sighed before rising to her feet. Her fingers entwined with Draco's as she began to speak, "And what exactly is it you think you did during the war?" she inquired, "Because from what I recall it was Neville leading things at Hogwarts, not you, it was Luna who kept the other students from falling apart right up until she was taken away. It wasn't Draco who abandoned Harry and I while we were on the hunt, it wasn't Draco who constantly moaned and groaned and complained about everything that was wrong with his life, when his reality was much harsher than ours; that was you, Ronald. So I'm sorry, but I'm not entirely certain that you did do anything worth mentioning during the war, and don't even get me started on what happened after it."

"What do you mean what happened after it?" Ron demanded. Molly placed a hand on his shoulder, looking just as incensed as he was, but she said nothing.

A scoffing laugh left Hermione's lips before she could contain it, "Let's see, shall we?" she tapped her chin with her finger, "Well, while you pretty much waltzed into a job on Harry's coattails, Draco had to work hard to get and keep his position in the Auror department. While you consistently showed up late to work and didn't do even half the things you were supposed to do, Draco worked nights, and overtime and spent more than his fair share of time tracking down rogue Death Eaters and capturing them. While you made sure to alienate every single real friend you have ever had, Ronald, Draco was making new ones, turning his life around to be worthy of the friends you so flagrantly threw aside."

Hermione turned her attention to Ginny next, "And you," she sighed, "You lived rent free in my apartment for weeks before you finally received a job at the ministry, again, not by your own merit, but because of Harry," she gestured to where Harry was now leaning forward, watching the proceedings intently, "and while you were living with me, it was like you'd forgotten every whit of good sense your mother somehow managed to teach you. You left your garbage laying around, and you never, not once, cleaned it up. You acted the part of an entitled, spoiled, sycophantic pureblood better than Pansy Parkinson could have ever done on her best day back in Hogwarts. Then when you left my place you went to poor Harry, who took you in, and you treated him and Teddy monstrously," Ginny gasped in offence, but Hermione ignored her, "and he let you do it, until he finally grew some brains and kicked you out."

Harry rose to his feet now, "So in short, neither of you have done anything worth remarking on either during or after the war. Hermione, Neville, Luna, Draco and I have all done the required steps to receive membership in the Order, neither of you have."

McGonagall cleared her throat from where she sat, "And seeing as how this is a meeting for Order members only, I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you two to leave," she pointed to the door that led to the exit of the staff room at Hogwarts. When neither Weasley made to do as they were told McGonagall forced some steel into her voice, "Now, if you please." Ginny tripped back a step at her words before whirling around and storming out of the room. Ron glared around the room, paying particular attention to Harry, Hermione and Draco before following his sister.

"Well I never!" Molly huffed, "I have never seen my children treated so unfairly in my life. You cannot possibly be serious in keeping them out of the Order, Minerva," she stated, moving to take a seat at the table next to Arthur. Arthur made no comment, but the way he was glancing apologetically at McGonagall gave away his feelings on the situation. Clearly he was siding with Hermione and Harry in this debate.

"It is your own fault Molly," Minerva replied seriously, "If you had done a better job as a mother, those two would never have felt as entitled to run amuck as they have been. They have learned from you the exact pureblood supremacy idiocy from you that you would condemn Draco for overcoming. They have learned that working hard for something is for other people, not for them, and they act as if the world is their oyster, when in reality it is not."

Molly jerked back to her feet, "Do not speak about my children that way! I have done a fine job as a mother in raising them!" she demanded, "I was simply pointing out that the rest of my children have been granted membership, and I believe it is only right that poor Ron and Ginny should be allowed the same chance. Yet they are not because of this…this…woman," Molly was naturally gesturing to Hermione with such venom she nearly slapped her husband in the face.

"Molly," Arthur tried to calm her, but to no avail.

Minerva however, seemed up to the task of debating with Molly, so she went on, "Yes, your other children, with the exception of Percy, for obvious reasons, have managed somehow to overcome your incredible inefficacy as a responsible mother to turn out to be normal, hardworking wizards. I do believe that Percy, Ronald and Ginerva were the only three of your children to not have you constantly berating and belittling them and their choices. With Bill it was his hair and his choice of wife, with Charlie it was his dangerous job and his inability or lack of desire to settle down and get married, with Fred and George you never could just let the two have their fun, and even when their store is doing wonderfully you still hope they will give it up for a more 'prestigious' job at the ministry."

"You can't speak to me this way," Molly blustered, "I am an amazing mother, and just because I don't agree with my children and their mistakes doesn't mean I don't—"

"Enough Molly," Arthur's voice took on a stern tone that Hermione had never heard before, "Sit down and be quiet before I escort you out of her myself."

Complete silence descended on the room as everyone stared at Arthur in shock; no one had ever seen him be so firm with his wife. But it seemed everyone had a breaking point, and this appeared to be his. When Molly slowly descended into her seat, looking startled, shocked, and bewildered, Arthur looked over at Hermione and Draco, "I would like to apologize on behalf of my wife and my children, they have been causing you much undo trouble in the past. You can rest assured that for as long as I am around, it will not be happening again," he nodded at them, "And Hermione," he added on a second later, "I am glad you found someone who loves you the way you deserve. You and Ron were never meant to be together."

"Arthur!" Molly gasped.

"Silence, Molly," Arthur commanded, "Please, let us proceed with the meeting," he gestured for things to go on.

Slowly the meeting began and soon enough the whole incident from before was pushed from everyone's minds as they all discussed the various topics that arose. Nearly two hours passed with no comments made by Molly as she sat and glared at the table in front of her. Decisions were made and plans were formed when needed, and soon enough the meeting was over. One by one the Order members rose to their feet and made to leave, some of them making plans with one another to get together at the Three Broomsticks for some drinks.

"May I speak with you for a moment Professor?" Harry called to get Minerva's attention.

Slowly the tall witch turned to find her favorite student smiling at her, "What can I do for you Harry, and please, call me Minerva, you've been out of school for years now."

"Of course Minerva," Harry bowed his head with a smile in acknowledgement of her words. He glanced over to where Hermione and Draco stood with George, Angela, Neville and Luna, all of whom were watching him expectantly. Seeing his floundering gaze, Hermione waved a hand at him while Draco rolled his eyes and sneered. Ironically it was the sneer that made him speak his thoughts, "I was wondering if you'd managed to fill that slot for Defense Against the Dark Arts professor?" he asked hurriedly as if he couldn't get the words out fast enough, "If it's still available, I think I'd like to try my hand at breaking the curse the position seems to be under."

Minerva smiled, he could tell she was pleased with his offer, "The position is still available Harry, and I do believe you'd be the perfect fit," she too glanced over at his friends, "It seems we are already half staffed by your fellow year-mates," she smirked in amusement at his answering grin, "But what about your position as Head Auror?"

Harry sighed, "I never should have received that position in the first place," he admitted, "I wasn't in the program half as long as most of the people who work for me, and I only spent some of my time doing what they choose to do professionally. To be frank, I only chose the job when I was at Hogwarts as a means to an end, I wanted to fight Voldemort, and how better to fight him than as the policing force of the wizarding world? Truthfully, after teaching the members of the DA back in my fifth year, I kind of always had a secret desire to teach."

"I do believe that teaching could be a calling for you Mr. Potter," Minerva agreed affectionately, "I also believe that Remus especially would be pleased with your choice; your mother too, come to think of it. Both had a great amount of love for learning and teaching," she eyed him carefully for a moment, "Yes Mr. Potter, I think you'll do," she decided with a firm nod, "Come and see me sometime next week and we can go over a few things."

Harry grinned broadly and didn't resist the urge to pull the motherly older witch into a hug, "Thank you Professor," he expressed his gratitude before pulling back. Minerva's look of surprise was one for the books, he thought with a laugh as he turned to leave.

"It's Minerva, Harry," she called after him before shaking her head with a rueful smile and turning to walk away.

"Well?" Hermione pressed once he was close enough.

Harry smirked a little, a look that was eerily reminiscent of Draco's own smirk in an odd way, and threw his arm around her shoulders, "Well," he dragged out, "It looks like I will be joining the two of you at Hogwarts next year," he stated, a grin splitting his face.

"Oh Harry, that's great!" Hermione exclaimed stopping their forward momentum to fling her arms around his neck for a hug.

Laughing loud and deep, Harry picked her up and swung her around, making her squeal, "I'm so happy Hermione!" he murmured into her hair, "I never thought I'd be this happy!"

Hermione found her feet and smiled up at him, tousling his hair affectionately, "Now we just have to find a way to convince Lexi to marry you," she told him with a wink, "and everything will be perfect."

Harry blushed and ducked his head, "I have a ring," he admitted.

"Really?" Hermione shrieked.

"Yeah," Harry nodded, but looked at her in confusion, "Didn't Draco tell you?"

Hermione's head whipped around to stare at Draco where he walked next to her, "No," she jabbed him in the arm, causing him to wince and rub the spot dramatically, "He didn't say anything about it."

"Well, with how close they are and everything, and considering how her parents died a few years ago," Harry shrugged, "I asked him to help me pick out the ring—"

"After he asked for permission to marry her," Draco chortled, "As if Lexi needed someone's permission to get married, let alone mine," though Hermione could tell he was pleased that he'd been asked, regardless.

Hermione sighed, "Sometimes I regret letting you two get to know each other better," she moaned.

"What?" Harry asked, followed by Draco's "Why?" they both glanced over at each other the second they recognized the synchronicity of their words. They'd hated how quickly they found their brain patterns falling similarly into place, often causing them to say the same things simultaneously or ask similar questions. Most of the time they made a special effort not to let others know how in sync they were, but sometimes, particularly around Hermione, they enjoyed using it to tease her with.

Used to this, Hermione just rolled her eyes and picked up the pace until she was between Neville and George. She looped her arms through theirs and glanced back at Harry and Draco before sticking her tongue out at them. Draco smirked and glanced over at Harry, "Congratulations on the new job Potter," he commented, "I think you'll appreciate it more than the one you have now."

Harry nodded, scratching his chin quickly, "Yeah," he agreed, they walked in silence for a moment before he decided to voice his thoughts, "I'm thinking of naming Barthens my successor," he brought up, "He's been around for a long time, and he knows what's going on."

Draco hummed, "Actually I think you'll find Justin Marcum to be a better candidate for the position," he countered, "Barthens would be a good second in command, but he likes the action to much to give it up for Head of the department."

The idea looked like it hadn't occurred to him, "Marcum, huh?" he mulled it over, "Actually that does sound like a better idea," he nodded, "Marcum as Head and Barthens as vice Head," he tilted his head to the side in a bobbing movement, "That feels better than the plan I had."

"That," Draco stated in a voice Harry recognized all too well, "Is because your plans are often horrible, Potter," he commented with a smirk before leaving Harry's side and heading towards Hermione.

Harry watched him go, smiling as he noticed the ease with which Draco slipped in between Neville and Hermione, taking her hand as he laid an affectionate kiss on her temple. He would be the first to admit to feeling like a seventh wheel the first few times he joined his friends for game night as Draco had suggested. It had been awkward at first to see how loving and affectionate Draco and Hermione actually were towards one another, but he thought now that it may have just been because of the way he viewed them both separately.

When he'd first made amends with Hermione, Draco had been the unknown in the equation. Harry wasn't sure how he should approach the other man, but slowly the two of them had bonded over their shared affection for Hermione, and then their shared affection for Teddy, then their love of quidditch and their love of dueling, and suddenly, Harry was surprised to find he considered Draco a great friend. A friend who was, in all probability, closer than any he'd ever had before.

Oftentimes he found himself wondering if he and Draco could have been friends back in Hogwarts, had Ron not poisoned Harry against Draco, or if Draco hadn't been so quick to sneer at Ron. Friendship had been on the table, but Harry hadn't wanted to lose the first friend he'd ever had, so he'd turned it down and brushed it away, firmly making sure that the friendship was never extended again. Now he wondered if maybe he'd just accepted, what would have changed in the future? Would Draco have been able to avoid the dark side of his life? Would Ron and Draco eventually have grown to overcome their prejudice and become friends? Would Draco have been able to help Harry keep Ron grounded?

So many what ifs would flood his mind as he contemplated what life could have been like, but he was glad to discover that he was actually alright with the way things ultimately ended working out. It had been a long bumpy road, but they'd all gotten here in relatively one piece.

He followed his friends down the path towards Hogwarts and through the entrance to Hogsmeade where he was immediately accosted by a red haired woman. Glancing down he found Ginny clinging to his arm. He frowned at her; that was one more thing he was grateful for. When he'd been introduced to Lexi by George a few months back, he'd known immediately that she was the woman he would spend forever with. He couldn't explain it, but something about her fire just drew him in like nothing else.

He'd been a little concerned about what Teddy would think of her, but the two had hit it off almost immediately. While Lexi was not a metamorphmagus, she did change her appearance frequently. Her hair never stayed the same color for longer than a month and her makeup, clothing, and hair styles were all on a constant rotation as well. Her personality was so opposite Ginny's that Harry almost didn't know what to do with her half the time when they'd first started getting serious. But that was something Teddy (and Harry) loved most about Lexi, she was strong in who she was and she loved with everything in her. She didn't care what others thought, and she loved Harry for Harry, and not for his scar or his name or his power or money.

"Are you even listening to me Harry?" Ginny's voice—why hadn't he noticed is shrillness before?—broke into his thoughts and he glanced down again to find her still clinging to his arm.

"What?" he asked, eloquent as ever, glancing around he found that the rest of his friends had continued on without him, though Draco kept glancing back at him every now and again as if to make sure he was still alive.

Ginny sighed and spoke slowly, "I said," she started, "I forgive you for kicking me out and saying all those horrible things. I'll take you back, don't worry. I won't even make you apologize," this time his stare was longer than a quick glance as he wondered if she was actually serious, "I understand that things have been a little rough for you, but you know you love me," it didn't escape his notice that she didn't say she loved him, "Come on," she trailed her finger down his chest, but he wasn't looking at her anymore, "Let's head home and have a nice long…discussion about it."

But he wasn't listening anymore. His face lit up as he spotted Lexi heading his way with a determined look on her face. Trotting along behind her, hand clasped tightly in her own, was his godson, "Uh-huh," he muttered noncommittally, having absolutely no idea what she'd said.

A sharp tugging tore his attention from his future and he glared down at Ginny in response, "Come on Harry," she urged.

Harry opened his mouth to tell her to go away when Lexi's familiar voice interrupted him, "Let go of my man Weaslette," she ordered.

"Yeah," Teddy echoed, his face sneering as his hair changed to imitate Draco's (something Harry noticed he did when he was pretending to be older than he was). "Go away Ginny."

Ginny glared down at Teddy before lifting her stare to Lexi, "Who are you?" she retorted, not moving away from Harry's side.

"She is my girlfriend," Harry answered this time, jerking on his arm until it was free from her grasp, "Hey babe," he greeted, moving forward to press a kiss to Lexi's green lips. He pulled away to find Ginny gaping at him as if she honestly couldn't believe he'd just done that.

"I can forgive you for that too," she finally blustered, gesturing crudely to Lexi's stylishly ripped clothing, green lipstick, purple eyes, black eye shadow, eyebrow piercing and short shamrock green hair.

Harry smirked, "Who said I wanted your forgiveness?" he asked easily, wrapping his arm around Lexi and pulling her firmly into his side. He knew Lexi wasn't the type to appreciate possessive gestures like that, but he figured right now she needed the assurance that he wanted her, and no one else.

"We can't be together if we can't forgive each other," Ginny sounded exasperated.

Lexi took a turn speaking, "What part of 'my man' didn't you understand ginger?" she snapped, her own arm wrapping around Harry's waist.

"Just because he's cheating on me with you, doesn't make him your man," Ginny spoke simply, as if to a child, "Come along Harry," she held her hand out for him to take, waiting expectantly.

Harry glanced down at the hand then at the owner before pressing a kiss to Lexi's temple, "In order for me to be cheating on you Ginny, I'd have to actually be with you. We broke up months ago, or weren't you aware of that when you were sleeping around with all those other guys?"

Ginny gasped, as if she were actually outraged that he'd made such a comment, but it wasn't Ginny who exclaimed, "Harry James Potter, you take that back!" it was her mother.

Glancing nonchalantly at Molly Harry shook his head, "I would, but I was told never to lie, so I'm afraid I just can't do that," he shrugged, "Now if you both would kindly just leave me and the love of my life alone…" he trailed off expectantly.

"You don't even see it do you?" Molly exclaimed, "That woman, that pathetic little…mudblood," gasps were heard from all over, and for the first time Harry became aware of their audience, "has poisoned your mind. She's turned you against your family, you love my daughter Harry," she sounded as if she truly were trying to remind him of something he'd forgotten, "Please try and remember."

Harry frowned and his wand appeared in his hand as he spoke his next words with a dangerous undertone, "If I ever hear you use that word in relation to my sister again, I will personally see to it that you spend some much needed time in a cell somewhere far away," he threatened, "Hermione is a wonderful, forgiving person and I never should have taken your side against hers. If anyone should be ridiculed for poisoning my mind it should be you and your daughter," Harry hissed, unaware of the blond haired reporter in the background practically salivating over his words as her Quick Quotes Quill worked double time to keep up with his words.

"I can't really say as though I blame Ginny for everything," he continued, "She did have to learn it from somewhere after all," he shrugged, "So while I love most of your family, I cannot say the same for you and your daughter. The only explanation I can come up with for you to have three terrible children who know only how to lie and cheat to get what they want while being lazier than a sleeping sloth, is that they had a terrible mother. Your other children must have been saved by your saint of a husband because I don't know how they turned out so well. I will thank you both to stay away from me and my family from now on. Hermione is my sister, which makes Draco almost a brother, Teddy is my godson and someday Lexi will be my wife," his voice was firm and determined, "And if you ever say anything against any of them again, you will not like what the consequences will be."

With that he scooped up Teddy into his arms, grabbed Lexi's hand, and headed towards George's shop where he knew his family would be waiting for him. Indignant gasps were heard from behind him and several of the spectators began to guffaw at the looks on Ginny and Molly's faces, but Harry didn't care. He had his family close to him, he was content.
