Your Host: Death the Kid

Bonus Chapter, Visitors

August

Monday Morning

How long has it been since I've written in this diary? It feels as if it has been longer than the few months it actually was. Upon returning from Japan, I placed the book under my bed and haven't taken it out since then. I didn't want to write in it anymore, really. I wanted to keep it as a log for what happened in Ouran Academy, so I decided I'd set it apart and make it special. It felt wrong to simply write of daily events back at Father's Academy. I told myself I'd pick it up and read it often, to never forget them, but then I remembered that if you do things often, they lose their uniqueness and simply become mundane. So I hadn't picked it up since the day I set it down.

I'm not sure what prompted me to pick it up now, or why I've begun writing. I just found that this was a place where I could talk about Ouran Academy, and since that's what was on my mind, it just came out. It feels good to write again; I might have to make keeping a diary a daily thing. But it'd get repetitive, wouldn't it?

Well, I had some time before school to write, and now I leave to leave. Although... Perhaps I'll bring it with me. I've got a strange feeling about today, a feeling not unlike the one I got the day of the anniversary party during which Asura was released... This could end badly.

Monday Lunch Break

It turns out that that ominous feeling I got earlier wasn't ominous after all; it merely predicted an eventful point in the day. For as I walked to the Academy, I was startled to hear familiar voices from around the corner.

"I'm telling you, there are altogether too many stairs for my darling daughter to ascend by herself! I would carry her, but my princely legs are unused to such harsh physical labor and would give out beneath the both of us, only injuring her! I refuse to go where she doesn't, therefore I shall remain here! And since I am your prince, you shall all remain here with- WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!"

"I'm walking up the stairs myself. I'm perfectly capable, Sempai."

"YOU GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW, YOUNG LADY!"

They spoke Japanese, but that wasn't what was odd about them. Foreign voices were common things in Dad's Academy, as students came from all over the world to train here. Nothing was unusual about that. Even so, my gait sped up; I knew those voices. These were no normal students. No, check that; they were normal students. No weapons, no meisters: just normal students. That was why I was so shocked to hear them.

Turning the corner, I came upon the group. They were dressed in casual summer clothes, which was something I had never seen them wear before. Upon hearing my footsteps, the small blonde one turned around, and a large grin lit up his face as he saw me.

"Look, everyone! It's Kiddo-kun!" Cheered Hunny.

My brain began to fuction extremely slowly as a result of shock. Like when you just download a large program onto your computer, and then it takes it a while to start running fast again. Usually it has to shut down once or twice before it functions at its normal rate, so that's what I did. I shut down.

"Kid? Kid, you fainted," Liz was waving her schoolbook in my face to fan me. "I'm happy to see them too, but you don't need to pass out. Really."

I sat up, shaking my head to clear it. I glanced around after a moment, once again seeing the members of the Ouran High School Host Club.

"Hey, Kid-kun!" Beamed Tamaki. "It's great to see you!"

I smiled. "It's great to see you, too," I said as Liz helped me up. "But, um... Could you explain why you're all here?"

Kyoya shrugged. "Well, Tamaki-kun wanted to see you, and I managed to fit it into our schedule."

"Because we thought you'd love it if we graced you with our symmetrical presence again," The twins smirked.

"It's been a while, though, hasn't it?" Pondered Haruhi, who was actually dressed like a girl today. It was odd, frankly. "Let's see, one, two... Six months?"

"That's a long time," Hunny agreed, sitting atop Mori's shoulders. "Too long. Not seeing a friend in six months is like not eating cake in six months, and that's terrible!"

"And since we were all on our summer vacation, we had a bit more free time than we had during the school year," Winked Tamaki.

I nodded. "That's good," I said. "We have to keep going to school all year and training to fight Kishin, though; evil never sleeps."

Tamaki sighed dramatically. "You sound so heroic, Kid-kun!" He proclaimed.

"We were actually going to try a day at your school," Said Haruhi, "To see what it's like. That's why we were trying to follow the other students up the stairs, but Sempai had some objections," She muttered whilst pointing at Tamaki.

My next statement was very poorly thought-through, and I regretted it as soon as the words left my mouth. "Well, I can get up there quickly with my skateboard..."

"Beelzebub is NOT a shuttle," I mumbled to myself as I flew them upward, one by one. Well, almost. Mori insisted on getting on with Hunny on his shoulders, which was rather cumbersome and greatly slowed our elevation. Tamaki screamed like a girl and clung to my waist the entire time, and I had to physically pry him off once we reached the DWMA's entrance, leading to an awkward and embarrassing display. I refused to let Hikaru and Kaoru go at the same time, as the weight was sure to be too much for my board. There was such a tearful goodbye for a separation that was only going to last two minutes that I wondered how they'd fare if one had to go on a plane trip without the other. In fact, I doubt they'd survive, so they probably never let that happen. Kyoya was silent the ride up, probably examining my board from a scientific viewpoint, trying to figure out how it works. There's no science behind it at all; just pure Reaper soul energy. All this time, Haruhi walked the steps with Patty and Liz. By the time I had the last Host Club member situated on solid ground, they had reached the top as well.

"What's your first class, Kid-kun?" Asked Kyoya, while Tamaki crushed Haruhi in a hug for having climbed all those stairs.

I sighed, causing my board to fade back into my hand. The twins and Hunny watched in awe. "First is whatever Stein feels we should do," I murmured. "Anything from dissection to in-class sparring, basically."

"You fight each other in class?" Gasped Tamaki after Haruhi pushed him away. I nodded.

"Technically this an Academy where we train each other in fighting. A fight on school grounds is totally normal and even encouraged, as long as the teachers are present. It's what we're here for, after all," I explained. Tamaki and Hunny looked horrified, the twins looked devious like they wanted to try and beat someone up, Kyoya looked intrigued, and Mori simply looked like Mori. "Well... Come on, I suppose," I said, leading them inside.

"Oh look, Kid's decided to show up," Stein muttered as I walked in the door. After the incident on my first day, I had tried my best to be on time. This was a fault on my perfect record. Thankfully, the attention was quickly shifted from me as the Host Club walked inside. "And you brought guests," Stein continued, smirking as he sat up. "Why don't you tell us about them, Kid?"

I glanced over at the Club, who were for the most part staring at Stein like he had a bolt through his head. Well, he does, so no surprise there.

"These are friends I met in Japan during an undercover mission," I said. "This is Tamaki, Haruhi, Kyoya, Mitskuni, Mori, Hikaru and Kaoru. Their English is limited, but please be courteous. They're not meisters either, or weapons, but they wanted to see how a school day was in this Academy."

By the way Stein was watching the Club and smirking, I knew he could see their souls clearly. Although they didn't know what exactly he was doing, the gaze from the apparent madman seemed to unsettle them as they followed me to my seat and slid in the bench. My friends from Dad's Academy eyed them weirdly, and I decided I'd introduce them properly during lunch.

"Today's assignment is finding weak points in various kishin egg forms," Stein continued his lecture. "A set of papers will be handed to each student, with a variety of kishin forms on them. Your job is to point out the weakness in a short paragraph and give an example of how you personally would take advantage of them. Since our visitors are unexpected, I only have one extra assignment that will have to be shared among the seven of them."

"What did he say?" Tamaki, the closest to me, whispered. I translated what Stein had said, and the blonde managed to appear both confused and horrified. "We're supposed to figure out how best to kill something?!" He whispered loudly. I heard a few snickers from those students able to understand Japanese at his remark.

"Yes," I murmured back, but then smiled a little bit as the papers were passed out. "Since you don't go to school here, it won't really matter if you do well on our tests or not. Just think of it as fun," I said. Tamaki nodded, looking soothed, but then Hikaru and Kaoru just had to point out the flaw in my comforting.

"But we don't wanna look like bakas in front of these people we've never met."

"Yeah, we wanna make a good impression."

Upon realizing this, Tamaki paled. Since he was trapped in the bench on both sides, there was no corner for him to go sulk in, so he curled up on the bench and emanated gloom there. The other members did the quiz without him.

There were six different sheets with a different kishin form on each, so each one of them took one page while Tamaki sulked. The blonde stole the occasional glance at the worksheets, but quickly curled back into his ball after looking at what he later referred to as "hideous demons". His description was pretty accurate. I thought I did well on my assignment, but upon glancing at the Club's work, I was surprised at what they managed to get right. While it wasn't perfect, they seemed to be genuinely trying, and this was a hard topic to tackle with little experience.

After the quiz, there was a brief lecture and overview of the work. I translated what Stein said to the Club, who didn't answer any of his questions. I can't really blame them; better to look a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. That's what Dad says, anyway.

Lunch followed. I showed the Club to the cafeteria, where Tamaki became his normal self again and stared at the "commoner's lunchroom" with interest.

"Why don't you introduce your friends to us, Kid?" Smiled Maka as we sat down at the lunch table. I had to pull another one over to seat the Host Club. I nodded.

"Of course," I said in English, before turning to the Club and speaking in Japanese to them as I pointed out each of my native friends. "Guys, these are Maka-chan, Soul-kun, Black*Star-kun, and Tsubaki-chan," I told them.

"Tell them we've heard about them in your stories, Kid-kun," Tamaki smiled. He seemed to be watching Maka, earning glares from Soul that neither blonde seemed to notice.

"I can understand Japanese," Pointed out Tsubaki, "If Kid would like to take a break from being translator."

I nodded at her. "Thank you, Tsubaki," I said.

"Is Black*Star really a ninja?" Asked Hikaru.

"I HEARD MY NAME!" Proclaimed Black*Star. Tsubaki giggled slightly.

"They were asking if you were a real ninja, Black*Star," She said. Black*Star looked as if someone had just asked him if he really breathed.

"Of COURSE I'm a real ninja! I'm the greatest star there is! A powerful assassin!" My blue-haired friend exclaimed. While Black*Star ranted and Tsubaki tried to translate while being heard over him, my attention was drawn across the table, where Tamaki was scooting ever closer to Maka. Of course, the Frenchman was doing what was natural to him: flirting.

"My fair Maka-chan," He said, trying to weave around Soul, who was very firmly in his way, "Your ash blonde hair is rivaled by the goddesses. Your emerald eyes glow brighter than the precious gems coveted by dashing treasure hunters. My lady, your awe-inspiring beauty knows no bounds," He sighed dreamily.

Maka turned to me, an eyebrow quirked. "What's he saying, Kid? I heard him mention my name, but other than that..." She trailed off. I rolled my eyes; this was going to be embarrassing. I translated his words monotonously, and the more I said the more enraged both Maka and Soul seemed to become. Tamaki had that book to his skull coming to him.

"Can I kill him now?" Growled Soul. "Just to make sure he doesn't get anywhere closer to my meister."

"Haruhi-chan, she hurt me!" Tamaki wailed.

"It was your fault," Mumbled Haruhi as her sempai clung to her. "She obviously doesn't like being flirted at. A lot of girls are like that, Sempai."

Kyoya continued to write on his clipboard, possibly making a research paper on the people here.

I write this at the end of the lunch break, and everyone seems to be getting along okay now. Although, Soul and Maka are still glaring daggers at Tamaki when they're not talking to anyone else... That may not end well for my flirtatious friend.

Monday Afternoon

There was a sparring session after lunch. Hunny and Mori, with their martial arts training, actually fared relatively well against Tsubaki and Black*Star. Of course, Maka chased Tamaki around the room with Soul's scythe form in her hands, which terrified the poor teen nearly to death. Hikaru and Kaoru sat out to flirt with some NOT students, while Kyoya continued to write vigorously. Forget research paper; that guy must have been writing a book.

"Your friends are trying to kill me!" Tamaki yelped, jumping behind my back in the middle of my sparring session with Akane and Clay. I turned around to him, sighing.

"Then grab a weapon and defend yourself," I told him, "That's what you're supposed to do in this class."

Tamaki nodded, looking over at the weapons cabinet where we kept our practice weapons. He dashed over there, obviously not getting the meaning of the words "practice weapon".

"Hello, dagger!" He told the knife he pulled out while Soul and Maka looked for him. "It's nice to meet you! What's your name? ... Dagger? Kid! My weapon partner's passed out! Call a doctor!" He cried, rushing over to me as I rolled my eyes. But as soon as I began to explain to him that not all weapons in this school were people, Maka and Soul spotted him and came charging. The next few laps they took around the gym were filled with Tamaki desperately trying to revive a piece of metal that was never going to respond to him. When he actually tried to defend himself, he figured out that a dagger was a terrible weapon against a scythe and ended up with a minor cut on the side of his calf. Although, from the fuss he was making, you would think that his entire leg had been chopped clean off.

"Kid-kun, look at my leg! That barbarian chopped up my princely leg!" He whined.

"We'll get you to the nurse's office, Tamaki-sempai," I mumbled, walking the taller teen with his arm over my shoulders. Sparring was our last class because normally, if teams became injured during it, they'd go home and use their own bandages to wrap their wounds. Getting hurt was to be expected, so every student prepared for it. Except, Tamaki wasn't a DWMA student. He was an Ouran Academy student, and they weren't used to this. In my excitement to show my friends around my school, of which I was very proud of, I had forgotten that. They were injured and uncomfortable because of me, I realized.

"I'm sorry," I told the group after Tamaki's leg was wrapped up. The rest of the Club had joined us in the dispensary after sparring had ended. "I'm sorry you got hurt. I just wanted to show you Dad's Academy, and how great it was, and... Sorry," I murmured.

To my surprise, Tamaki instantly smiled. "You're forgiven entirely, Kid-kun," He said. "We wanted to come here and have a different experience. He had that," He winked.

"Plus, we got to flirt with tough girls," Kaoru smirked. "That was fun. Never done that before."

"Then what am I?" Huffed Haruhi. Hikaru laughed and ruffled her hair.

"You're our little Haru-chan," He grinned.

"We got to fight a real ninja!" Beamed Hunny. "We've never done that before, and it was fun!"

Mori merely nodded in agreement.

"And I now have a wealth of information on your lifestyle," Kyoya said. "You meisters and weapons are fascinating."

"See?" Said Tamaki. "We had fun. Who cares if I got hurt a little?" He smiled, but then he glanced at the bandages around his leg. "A little more than a little... Actually, it was a pretty big cut... I may not be able to walk... Kyoya-kun, carry me?"

Kyoya refused, so I ended up walking while supporting him again.

Unfortunately, I was informed that the Club had to fly back to Japan at eight this evening. I was about to ask why they invested so much time and money for a visit that was only going to take a day, but reconsidered it. I had learned that investing a great deal of time and money into something that would only last a short while was normal for them.

I wish I could record the scene of our goodbyes, like I did last time. But, unfortunately, I have found myself nearing the end of the papers in this diary. There's not much space left to write. It's been a long journey with this book, and I'll admit that I'm a little bit sad to see it entirely used up, never to be written in again. There are so many fun times written in these pages, and we've had some good times together. Oh great, I just referred to the book as a person.

Anyway, since there is so little space left, I decided not to narrate my goodbyes with the Host Club, but instead I asked them to sign this book. I'll translate what they say so Patty and Liz can read them if they want. It's the only part of the diary they're allowed to see, believe me.

Byebye, Kid-kun! Eat lots of cake for me, okay? -Hunny (I'm sure Patty would be glad to help me with that.)

Farewell, Kid-kun. Never falter in your quest to protect the ones you love. -Mori (I think that's the most words I've ever gotten out of him.)

Kid-kun, you are of a fascinating species. It was a pleasure to study you. -Kyoya (... I'm convinced that if he grew up here, Kyoya would be the next Stein. He's even got the glasses for it.)

See ya, Kid-kun! Hope you see lots of symmetry! -Hikaru and Kaoru (I'll miss those two... And their symmetry...)

See you later, Kid-kun. Remember to never let anyone judge you for your species. Instead, they should try and get to know you. You're a wonderful person to have as a friend. -Haruhi (Such a sweet girl. Don't even suggest I have a crush on her! ... Because it may be true... Patty and Liz are going to have fun with that confession.)

BYE, KID-KUN! I'll miss you! We'll all miss you! Come visit us soon, okay? The Ouran Host Club will be waiting for you; we'll see you then! (I'll visit as often as I can, Tamaki. I'll miss all of you too.)

And finally, one from me. Goodbye, diary. -Your Host: Death the Kid

Monday Evening

I had a bit of space to write this on the back cover, and I had to put it in here. Not long after I went to bed at eight, I heard the doorbell ring. Patty opened my bedroom door shortly afterwards, presumably after answering the door. She and Liz stayed up later than I did.

"The Host Club's at the door, Kid!" She called. I was confused; I thought their flight was supposed to leave at eight. But despite my doubts regarding the truth of my younger partner's statement, I slid out of bed and was soon heading downstairs. Sure enough, the entire Ouran High School Host Club stood at my door.

"Hey, Kid-kun," Tamaki said with an awkward smile. "Um, turns out or flight leaves at eight a.m., not eight p.m., so... Can we stay with you tonight?"

I rolled my eyes once, but while smiling. "Of course," I said. "You'll always be welcome."
