Isabella's POV
Caius looked at me, giving me a small smile. The Volturi were dressed in normal clothes, to blend in, of course.
"They're here." I whispered.
"How do you know?"
"I'm looking right at them." I whispered. Everyone physically choked.
"Isabella..." I heard Caius say. "You and your little friends can come down... otherwise, this entire town gets killed, only because you didn't listen to me. So, in other words, you and your entire group comes down, every single one, or I start killing innocent people. Your choice."
I looked at everyone else. They knew we have been defeated. There was no other way to fix this problem. And we all knew Caius wasn't bluffing when he says he'll kill everyone in this town, he's done it before.
"I'm so sorry." I whispered to the others. "You've all been... amazing these last couple months. I love you all."
Emmett grabbed my hand, soon we all just held onto each others hands. But that moment was broken when Caius gave his warning again. We all walked down the stairs, quietly walking out of the hotel. We stopped a couple of feet before the Volturi, I was standing in the front.
"You know... It's a good thing our flight landed in Bolivia. We were on our way down, as you were on your way up." Felix said. We smirked at me, probably ready to kill me first.
No one said a word.
"Let's go." Caius said.
The Volturi circled around us, forcing us to walk their way. Emmett held onto my hand the entire time. We all walked a couple of blocks to get us in the middle of nowhere. I thought they were going to kill us, until Heidi called the plane for them. The vampire that flew the plane was actually a close friend of mine, however, his loyalty was beyond our friendship. Who knows what will happen when he sees me? He'll probably want to beat me for betraying the Volturi.
"All of you, hold out your hands." Some newborn said. He was obviously made to be against me.
He walked up to Emmett and I, pulling our hands apart. Emmett, of course, didn't like the fact that he even touched me and growled.
"You fight now, I kill you all immediately." Caius said. He was watching the plane land onto this desert ground.
The newborn grabbed my hands, pulling them together. Soon, some clear liquid soaked my hands, then hardened. I wasn't able to pull my hands apart because of it. No wonder the Volturi wanted to keep him, he was able to trap us with this... liquid crap. It's like being arrested. The newborn did that with everyone's hands, then Felix literally pushed us into a line. When I looked at the others, my dead and cold heart melted. I was the one who put them into this position. It should have just been me that the Volturi takes.
"Load them." Jane said. "Then lock their feet."
Demetri was the one placing us where we sat on this huge plane. He pushed me down, then the newborn locked my feet to the ground. About thirty minutes later, we were all locked on one side of the plane. The plane was large enough to hold us all. It was almost a cargo-type plane. Fortunately, for all of us, we were separated from the Volturi, separated by a caged down, at least that's what it felt like.
Sadly I wasn't sitting by any of my girls nor Emmett. I felt… different… Something was different.
No one said nor looked at each other while we were in the air. We couldn't. We knew what was going to happen. We were going to die. Yet, we just couldn't say goodbye to each other.
Emmett, being who he was, tried to lighten up the tense mood that was going on in this plane. "
"They could have at least given us a pillow." He mumbled. Esme looked dumbfounded then put on her 'did you really have to say that' face.
I gave a small smile, but I just couldn't feel anything. The only thing I feel is fear, with a little bit of surprise. I really thought the Volturi would automatically kill us in that small desert we were in, but they're taking us somewhere. I just couldn't figure out where.
Still, for the next six or seven hours of being in the air, no one said a word. We were all highly uncomfortable, considering the newborn put our feet in a strange position, which we couldn't move from and we were in hearing distance of the Volturi. They were talking about us, how and when they should kill us. Caius, of course, wanted to immediately kill us, whereas Marcus wanted to hold us. Aro, being Aro, was once again stuck between the two of them. But he was leaning more towards Caius's side.
Then a small chance of hope came about.
"I do not want to kill them… yet." Aro said. "I'd like to question each and every single one of them. Read their thoughts, see what their intention was."
"Why does it matter, brother?" Caius complained. "We know that every single one of those imbeciles are on Isabella's side."
"How do we know that for sure? Isabella is capable of doing many things. We know this because she used to work for us." Aro stated. "She could be simply using them, to get what she wants. So, before we decide to kill possible innocent vampires, which, by the way, this is the last of our kind, I would like to know whether or not they were actually on her side."
"Aro…" Caius whined.
"And if you have a problem with it… you're just going to have to deal with it." Marcus said.
"Fine." Caius whispered. "What about our dear, loveable Isabella?"
"I give you permission to do whatever you would like with her." Aro said.
"Are you sure you want to do that?" Marcus asked.
"Why, do you think I'm going to do something completely wrong?" Caius asked.
I felt everyone's eyes on me and Emmett's waterfall of worries. But I didn't look at them. It was obvious what was going to happen to me. It was obvious that Caius would most likely torture me, then kill me in the most painful way possible for a vampire. But I honestly was ready to face Caius. The only reason I say this was because I never fully gave myself true hope of killing the Volturi. Yes, for a while when I thought Vastel was with us, but when we found out he wasn't, I felt a lost. I didn't know what to do and, as I predicted, the Volturi found us.
Soon, the plane landed. The place was covered with snow, nothing that I could recognize. Probably Russia, considering this was probably Caius's second favorite place to be.
Demetri and Felix lead everyone out of the plane, one by one, after the newborn, being the only one, breaking the locks on us.
I was the last one to be taken off of the plane. But they didn't lead me to the line with the others. They took me straight to Caius. He smiled at me, proud of being able to catch me.
"Regret your actions yet?" He asked.
"Not yet." I whispered.
He grabbed my arm and yanked me away from the others, who were getting rowdy, especially Emmett. He was cussing and trying to break his way out of his lock. But, it didn't work. I had to shout at him to make him stop before Demetri killed him. Then that was the last thing I said to him.
Caius yanked me all the way to a room, but I still couldn't do anything with my hands. The room was empty, but had a small chair.
He pulled me to the small chair, then sat me down. He leaned down towards me, smiling.
"It's been a while Isabella." He said. He touched my cheek, then walked out of the room, calling someone named Derek, the newborn that kept locking us down. Derek soon came and locked my feet to the ground. I was trapped. For the first and final time.
I closed my eyes and prayed, for the first time, for a miracle to happen. For the people that I very much cared about to find their way out of this place. I wanted them safe, to find their way home, to forget what has happened. Though I knew this was the end.
Emmett's POV
The Volturi locked us up, in what seemed to be a jail. It was one huge room, all of us being locked in place by that damned newborn, then a cell door being shut. The worst part was it was dark in the room, since we were in the basement and the fact that the Volturi could care less about us.
The part that scared me the most was I didn't know where Isabella was. I knew Caius took her to torture her. But it was just hard for me to even think about it. To know that Isabella was stuck with probably the worst person on the face of the planet. Caius was sadistic… he used pain for joy. And now that he has that newborn with him, Isabella couldn't do anything to him. It was the end of her.
This was the end of us…
Four Years Later
Never did I think a vampire was capable of starving. The Volturi didn't kill us, they let us starve. But not to death, it was impossible for us to die. We were insanely and painfully thirsty. Not only that, we were left in the dark. It's been four years of sitting in the dark, waiting for something to happen to any of us. But the last time we've seen the Volturi was when they put us in here. That was also the last time I've seen Isabella. We all assumed she was dead.
Every time I thought about her, the more pain I felt. We couldn't do anything, not even move our legs. Sometimes I think the Volturi isn't actually here. I think they purposely left us here for punishment. And punishment it was.
We weren't dead, but we weren't living either. The only way to escape the pain was to close our eyes, go into this non-existent world of walking around this earth. Sometimes I see Isabella. She always wears this white dress, her brown hair curled. She smiles at me and tells me that everything is going to be alright. After we lie on the ground, wherever we are, and lie in silence. She always smiles, calls me an angel, then Caius comes to kill her. Most of the time I wake up screaming. Edward, who sees everything I see, tells me it wasn't real. And I feel bad when this happens, just talking alone is very painful. Edward talked to me every time I woke up from my nightmare.
As of right now, we were all still in pain, lying around, waiting for some type of miracle to happen. It has been years of waiting and waiting. The wolves that were with us left from Salta. Isabella told them to go back to Shelton, Washington. Of course, they would have hid from the Volturi, but that's all we could hope for. A place for them to be safe and stay hidden.
After these four terrible years, for the first time, the door to the basement opened. The light from the door burned our eyes. Then I finally was able to see everyone else. It was heartbreaking. Since we were technically dead, but we survive off of blood. Since we didn't have blood for the past four years, it looked like our bodies were decaying. Yet we weren't dying. We were just decaying.
I was hoping for someone to get us out of here, but it wasn't our hopeful angel. It was Jane. She came down the stairs, smiling at us all. Our beautiful angel was actually the devil's child.
Jane stood before the jail cell door. She was smiling, watching our misery.
"Is…a…bella…" I whispered.
Jane smiled at us and walked out of the basement. I should have come in of knowing that Isabella was already dead. But I didn't want to believe I should accepted it a long time ago.
About an hour later, from Jane coming down to the basement, someone else came down. Though I've never seen her before. She had brown curly hair, a heart-shaped face, and she looked very young. Maybe about 15 years of age. She reminded me of Isabella.
"Bella…" I whispered again.
"Bree, did you do what we asked you to do?" I heard Aro ask.
"Yes. I was just getting ready." I heard her answer.
The little girl, named Bree, walked to us and then opened the cell door. If we had our strength, then we would be able to kill her and try to run out of the place. But we couldn't move. We couldn't do anything.
This girl Bree walked around to every single one of us, she didn't look like she would be a part of the Volturi. But she wore the part. She was small, but powerful. But she didn't do anything since she stepped into the basement. Obviously she was sent down here to do something.
Bree soon came to me, then kneeled down. She pulled out of a piece of paper, then slide it into my hand. She gave a small wink to me then stood up and walked out of the basement after closing the cell door.
"Did you make sure they are locked in that cell?" I heard Aro ask. "In other words, did you put the shield around the cell?"
"Yes, sir. They're not capable of moving." She answered. When Aro said something about a shield, I didn't recall her doing anything other than walking around this cell. Then I remembered the paper and wink she gave me.
Was she on our side?
I rolled my side, very slowly but painfully. It took me ten minutes to just unfold the small piece of paper.
Emmett,
Bree is on our side. She's going to get you all out of here. I don't know if, by the time you read this, I'm still alive. Be patient. Try to tell the others. I love you all.
Isabella.
I groaned, but this time it wasn't from pain, it was from the hope that filled me. If Isabella was capable of writing this paper and not getting caught, she was still alive. I had to hope she was alive.
"You… hear… that, Ed?" I whispered.
"Yea…" He said.
"Wha.." someone tried to whisper.
"Hope." I whispered. And that's all I needed to say. The others understood, we had a chance at getting out. Mainly because of this Bree girl. Whoever she was, whoever got her here… Thank you.
Isabella's POV
Four years of pure torture finally got the best of me. Every day Caius came to this small, dark room I was trapped in. He made sure that I didn't see anyone but him. And I haven't received any blood for the past four years, so I was weak. Then a small miracle happened.
The Volturi did something they should have never done. They decided to create more newborns, to get them to work for them. However, sometimes, newborns had a mind of their own. Not to just want blood, but sometimes, to save others. And Bree was my guardian angel. When the Volturi created her, they immediately took her here. Apparently she had an amazing gift. But she also had a mind. Her gift was similar to mine and the newborn. She was able to create a physical shield, either around herself to keep herself protected, or around others to encase them in a bubble.
Since she was powerful and agreed to join the Volturi, they loved her immediately. And once you're loved in the Volturi, you're capable of doing anything you want. So, since she was curious as to why she was in Russia. She walked around the entire place, then ran into me. Once she saw me trapped, I barely asked her to find the others. She was able to find them, and luckily for me, since I thought they were dead, they were still here, locked in a basement. She then told me that the newborn, who made the locks, which turns out to be venom that hardens, actually wears off for a certain amount of time. So the others were no longer locked down, but I was, of course. I told Bree to tell the others to get out, that Bree was going to help them get out. But she couldn't do it alone. So Bree was also trying to find the others to help her.
Unfortunately, she couldn't find any of my wolves. That meant they were either hidden very well, or the Volturi got to them as well.
I heard the door open, hoping it was Bree. Sadly, it was Caius. He chuckled and yanked my head up to make me look at him. The newborn, Derek, came up to me and got rid of the locks. Caius yanked my arm and dragged me to wherever we were going. Then we stopped downstairs by a door.
"You should be thanking Bree for this." He said.
"For what?" I asked.
"For letting you come down to the basement." He said. "She thinks you're up to something. So, she wants me to keep you close to the others. Mainly as a warning. You do anything, I kill them in front of you."
I closed my eyes, silently thanking Bree for making this happen.
When Jane took me down to the basement, I saw everyone lying on the floors, decaying, just like I was. Then I saw Emmett. He was looking at me, a slight glisten in his eyes. Jane pulled me into the jail cell and threw me to the floor. Sadly, I wasn't close to Emmett, and I could hardly move. And I knew Jane wouldn't give me that luxury of being close to Emmett, so she left me there.
I watched Jane walk back up the steps and close the basement door. It was pitch black, you couldn't see anything. The others have been in pitch black for four years straight, until today.
I turned my head to see where Emmett was, yet saw him trying to move towards me. He was going to make himself much weaker than he already was.
"No…" I whispered. But he ignored me, like usual, and kept crawling towards me. About half an hour of him painfully moving towards me, he made it.
He touched my hand and finally closed his eyes.
For the first time in forever, I felt hope. Now, we just needed Bree to start our plan, and we're free.
It's just going to be a long shot.
And that concludes this chapter. Hopefully you enjoyed and I will update soon.
