Emmett's POV

Isabella was sitting in the chair next to Marcus' makeshift bed. He hasn't woken up from whatever has happened to him. But whatever it was, it was worse than we could even imagine or even think of. Black lines started forming all over Marcus' body, like the lines were tracing his veins. Eleazar said it was a very powerful gift that could cause something like this. The only things he has seen was Poison Kinesis. It was similar to Kate's ability. If you were to touch Kate, you'd become shocked or electrocuted as some put it. Eleazar said if you get touched by this poison effect, you become poisoned or sick. However, the poison effect was more deadly than Kate's shocking gift. It was a long lasting effect, not something that was immediate.

We were ready to move again, with or without the wolves being by our side. We couldn't stay here any longer. The chance of Marcus finding us is also a chance for Aro and Caius to find us. We weren't going to risk it. Some wanted to wait until Marcus was better, some wanted to leave immediately. I was for leaving immediately. I didn't want to risk it. Someone was just going to have to carry Marcus.

Isabella, however, wanted to wait until he was capable of moving on his own. She thought if someone was going to carry him, it would slow us down if something were to happen. But I highly doubt the Volturi were close by, especially with their newborns that they have desperately made. I knew the Volturi, well… Aro and Caius were bad people, but I would have never guessed for them to make an entire newborn army. They already have powerful guards, now they needed newborns? Marcus was right, they are desperate. We were desperate as well, but Isabella has already made newborns months before Aro and Caius found out what her plan was.

"We need to take a vote." I said. Everyone crowded themselves in the living room. The only person who wasn't here was Isabella. She was still sitting with Marcus. "There is a debate going on. Marcus was capable of finding us, here in Forks. Yes, this wasn't the greatest plan to go to. But with time on our hands, it was the first place we thought of. Aro and Caius have a chance of coming here. However, in Marcus' condition, there's a chance that he will not be able to walk. So we either wait for him to get better or we leave."

"You mean leave him here?" Stefan asked.

"No, I mean someone carry him." I said.

"I say we leave him here. I don't trust anyone from the Volturi. Not even Bree nor Alec." Stefan said. "On top of that, he came out of nowhere. I say we leave him here."

That's when Isabella rushed out of the room, standing directly in front of Stefan. Since he was sitting on the floor, Isabella became face to face with him. Clearly, she wasn't happy with his statement. And since Bella was scary when it came to certain problems, Stefan was slightly cowering away from him. I would have usually laughed if this wasn't a serious issue we were having.

And what crept him out the most was that she didn't say anything, she just stared at him. Hell, we were all just watching. Not one of us said a word until Stefan finally spoke up.

"Never mind." He whispered. "He's staying with us."

"Damn right he is." Isabella finally spoke. "And if you think for one second that I will ever leave him behind, you're out of your damn mind. He has risked everything for me. A lot more than you could ever think of. More importantly he kept the secret of us leaving far away from Aro and Caius. Next time you say something like that I will kill you. Understand?"

With that threat, she walked away, back to Marcus. But before she could get out of our sight, she turned around to look at me. "Also, we're waiting till he's better."

"You're taking a risk." I said. "Aro and Caius could show up, we need to leave. Now."

"Well, I'm taking that risk. We stay." Isabella said. "They'll be expecting us to move."

"And they'll be expecting us to stay." I argued back. Then she turned her body straight to me. I knew now that this was going to turn into a full blown argument.

Oh no…

She crossed her arms over her chest and gave me the same look she just gave Stefan. But I wasn't going to back down in this fight. So I turned my body straight towards her and crossed my arms over my chest.

Wrong move…

Isabella seemed a little bit taken back by my choice of action.

Good one Emmett…

"We wait." She said, this time in a firm, angry voice.

"We leave." I said.

She cocked her head to the side, her eyes now wide, filled with anger.

Ah shit…

However, part of me didn't want to let this argument go. We couldn't stay here, it's as simple as that.

Then Isabella took a step forward, still crossing her arms. "We stay."

"Not. Risking. It." I slowly said. Now I was talking to her like a child. I was really going to get it now…

"Excuse you?" She said.

I heard someone loudly clear their throat. Probably to break up our argument. But neither one of us didn't want to be the loser in this argument.

"Try again." She said.

"I am. We leave." I said, shrugging. "I will carry him if I have to."

"We stay. There's no point. He needs to heal. Us moving him around is not going to allow that to happen. And if something were to happen while we're out there, he would slow us down."

"And what if something were to happen here? Right now? You cannot protect him and protect yourself at the same time." I argued back. "It's not possible. He will die. We leave. If something does happen, we can just hide him somewhere. But we cannot stay here…"

"Do we get a vote in this?" someone asked.

"I guess not." Someone else whispered.

"You're not the only one here Bella." I said. Really… really bad choice of words…

"I never said I wasn't! I am simply saying that we need to wait! I never said I was the head decision maker of this group! I never said I was in control! All I'm saying was that we need to wait! So don't you dare think for one second that I am not thinking about the others! So you get your head out of your ass and think about this!" She screamed and stormed off.

When she got out of my sight I visibly smacked my head. Good job idiot… You've made her pissed off.

I sighed and walked out of the room. There was mumbling going on, but I didn't specifically listen to what they were saying.

Isabella wasn't thinking clearly. We couldn't wait for Aro and Caius to come. We need to leave. I walked up to mine and Isabella's room, waiting for her to storm in to yell at me. But I was starting to think that she was very made at me. It was now ten o'clock and she hasn't shown up yet. Yes, she loves Marcus like a father, but she loved me more. Also, she could never sleep in a chair. She just won't. So… she must be really mad at me.

When everyone started to head off to bed, me and a couple of the guys walked around the house, to make sure everything was locked and secured. I peaked in Marcus' room to see if she was planning on moving. Nope, not at all. She had a book in her hand, glancing at the words on the page. Dammit…

"You coming to bed?" I asked.

She didn't say anything to me. I know she heard me, considering she looked away from the words on the page, but she did look back down.

"And you're mad at me…" I said. She still didn't say anything. "At least sleep in bed tonight."

With that, I walked away. She wasn't going to say anything to me, but it wasn't going to stop me from saying something to her. Hell, if anything, she probably didn't even listen to me.

So, during the night, I was worried that she wouldn't come to bed. So I waited almost all night for her to come to bed. When she did, it was one in the morning. I had my back to her and I knew she wouldn't want me to sleep any other way.

When she got into bed, I sighed and closed my eyes. As long as she was next to me, I was fine. I wouldn't want her anywhere else. But I couldn't help myself. I loved her way too much and I knew that I would end up folding. So I turned myself around and slowly wrapped my arm around her waist. She tensed up and told me to get off of her.

"You're really that mad at me?" I whispered to her. She didn't say anything again. "Fine, just know that I'm not letting you go. Not for this silly argument."

"It's not a silly argument. I just think we would be better off if we waited." She whispered back.

"Aro and Caius will arrive if we wait." I said. "I'm sorry, but I'm not letting this one go. Plus, we haven't asked the others. So, if majority wants to leave, then we leave. If majority wants to stay, then we stay."

"We'll ask, again, in the morning." She said. "We go with the majority. No complaining."

"Fine." I whispered. I kissed her neck, but she didn't respond to me. When I did it again, she pulled the blanket towards her face. I sighed and rolled onto the other side of my body, facing my back towards her. If she wanted to turn this disagreement into something else, fine.

This always happened with Isabella and I. We would turn a small disagreement into a huge argument, but later make up for it. Yes, usually couples under a lot of stress will fight and fight. Some will get a divorce (Rosalie and I). But others will work through it, even though one of us probably hated the outcome (Bella and I). Except, with these days passing by, I would hate for Isabella and I to get into an argument and then something happen to one of us. I wouldn't want that argument to be the last thing we say to each other. Never.

I guess Isabella felt that same way.

She sat up and pulled at my shoulder, indicating that I needed to flip back over.

"I'm sorry. I just… take things a little too far." She whispered. I rolled onto my back and looked at her. Her hair was in a mess, almost covering her face. She was wearing a spaghetti strapped tank top and some shorts. Isabella was always for fashion, even when she went to sleep. When she never matched her clothes I always call her ugly. Only because she hated mismatching and looking a mess. She was always dressed up nicely. And then I tease her about it. I call it her 'little problem'.

I touched her cheek and smiled at her. "You're ugly."

She rolled her eyes at me. Then smiled. "I know." She started running her fingers through her hair.

"Come here." I said, opening my arms.

She laid down on my chest and closed her eyes. "I love you."

"I love you too." I whispered. "Even when you're ugly." She scoffed and we finally fell asleep.

In the morning, Isabella was digging through the clothes we had here. The old clothes, which weren't old, Alice just doesn't like wearing clothes over again for some odd reason, were going out to others if they fit. Isabella, of course, was now rummaging through them all to see what fit and matched. As I was watching her, I think this had to be the most entertaining thing in our relationship.

At one point I had to leave because she kicked me out.

"Remember, you're beautiful in anything you wear." I said, laughing.

"Shut up McCarty." She said, throwing in my old last name. I laughed and walked downstairs.

"So you two finally kissed and made up?" Jasper asked.

"No, the kissing part hasn't happened just yet. I'm still waiting." I said.

Just then, I heard the doorbell ring. Immediately, the house went completely silent, everyone stilled. I looked at all the guys, indicating to get prepared for the worst. Although, I couldn't imagine Aro and Caius literally coming up to the door.

Isabella also ran down the stairs, still wearing what she slept in. Even though the timing was bad, a lot of people were a little surprised to see her dressed so differently. When Isabella caught them staring at her, she glared at me.

"You're fault." She whispered. "And get the damn door."

"I will, when you hide." I whispered.

"Hell no." She said. "I'm in this, just like you all. Get the door."

"No time for arguing." Dominic said.

Then Seth came down the stairs. "Is no one going to get the door?" He asked. "I'm sure he's waiting."

"What? Who?"

"The pizza guy." Seth said.

"YOU ORDERED PIZZA?!" To say the least, Isabella blew up in Seth's face. When we finally answered the door, it was nonetheless, the pizza delivery guy. And Isabella was pissed.

We let the guy come in while Seth went to go get the money after Isabella and Sam scolded him for calling someone here. I mean, I kind of felt bad. Seth was only a kid, he didn't know any better and I was sure he didn't know how serious this was. On top of that, we didn't have any food in the house for the wolves. But he should have told someone that he was expecting someone to come over.

"Who the hell orders pizza in the morning?" Isabella mumbled.

I did feel weird about this situation a little bit. The pizza guy was looking at every single one of us. And I believe he was counting. But he was human, so it was something that I didn't need to worry about. But him counting was a little strange.

When I looked at Edward, he was staring at him also. He was reading his thoughts, obviously, but whatever it was, it was enough to make him tense.

"Something is off about him, right?" I asked Edward in my thoughts.

He looked at me and nodded. I touched Isabella's lower back and whispered, "Something's not right with him. Edward's listening, he's tense. Watch his fingers."

They were now twitching, almost shaking. Jasper and Edward stood next to each other, whispering something. But I was too involved in this pizza guy.

Seth finally came down the stairs with cash in his hand. "Sorry about that, keep the change."

"Thanks." He said, then hurried out of the house.

"What the hell was that?" I asked, after he sped down the road.

"I don't know." Edward said. "He was counting. Then he started speaking Latin. It was the same sentence over and over again."

"But he wasn't scared, he was stressed actually."

"That's weird." Isabella whispered.

"I'm sure it's nothing. He's just a human pizza delivery guy." Seth said, as he shoved pizza in his mouth.

Isabella glared at him, visibly biting his tongue. She walked upstairs, shaking her head, mumbling under her breath.

I patted Seth's back. "Look, I know your young and naïve. But this is a serious problem going on. You can't just call anyone here. Aro and Caius will do anything, use anyone, to get to us. They will kill every single one here without hesitation. And I may be scaring you right now, but it's true. Any chance they get, could cost everyone's life. Just… talk to someone before you do something like that."

"Sorry. I didn't think it would cause so much tension." He said, frowning. Poor kid.

"It's alright." I said.

After a while, Isabella finally came down the stairs. She was wearing jean shorts with a black tank top and another tank top on top of that which was cropped and royal blue. She also had blue toms on.

I smiled at her.

"It's just a throw on outfit. After this is over, I'm going back to my normal outfits." She said. "Everyone, come here, we need to talk. Or take a vote, I should say."

When everyone came in, Isabella and I were standing next to each other.

"As you all already know, Marcus cannot move as much. And if he was capable of finding us, Aro and Caius have a good chance of finding us as well. So we either need to stay or leave. However, there is a chance Marcus could slow us down. In his condition, there's a chance that we just end up leaving him. Which I don't want to do, because he's done so much for us. But this is all just by chance. We don't know anything for sure." Isabella said. "So, we take a vote. Do we wait until he's okay or do we leave immediately and someone carry him?"

"There's 79 of us. So, majority wins." I said. "Who is all for leaving?" As I counted, we were already going past half of the people. We were immediately leaving.

"That's 42." I said to Isabella. She nodded, looking a little upset.

"Do I get a vote in this?" I heard someone asked. I turned to see Marcus leaning against the wall. He looked horrible. But a lot better from when he came in.

"Marcus…" I whispered.

He laughed and looked at Isabella. "You all should have been in another country by now."

"We have a stubborn girl on our hands." I said, then she punched me in the stomach.

"Well, he's right." Marcus said, as he sat down on the couch. "Aro and Caius act fast. Very fast. You know they're probably in the States right now, as we speak. You should have left."

"You weren't feeling well. I'm not leaving you behind either." Bella whispered.

"You're taking a risk." He said. "Have I taught you nothing these past years? Never take risks. And I, for sure, can handle myself. You don't need to worry about me. Aro and Caius do not scare me. And they won't kill me. The rest of you, they will for sure. Even though there is a lot of you, they are piling on the numbers."

"How many?" I asked.

"At least… 90". He said. "It's tripled in size. They're desperate. And desperate vampires…"

"Usually get themselves killed…" Isabella and Dominic whispered.

"Alec… nice to see you again." Marcus said. Alec gave a little bow until Marcus cut him off. "Ah, don't bow. I'm no longer with the Volturi… or Aro and Caius I should say. And neither are you. Don't worry about being formal. But I am surprised to see you follow Isabella. You know… Jane is not…" Then he stopped and looked down.

"What's wrong?" Alec asked.

"Jane has expanded her gift. It's a lot more powerful than I could ever imagine. She's constantly working on her gift, specifically to get rid of you, Isabella." Marcus whispered. "She's become… the devil in all sorts of ways. She's someone I'm worried about. Anyways, we can talk more later, we need to leave."

"Are you okay walking? I can carry you." I said. Marcus laughed at me.

"If you ever carry me… I better be in ashes." He said.

"Stubborn old vampire." Bella whispered.

"Hey, you got my stubbornness from me." Marcus said.

"That's true." I said, agreeing.

"What are you all sitting here for? Go, get your stuff. We're leaving." Marcus said.

We gathered anything we needed. It wasn't much. Really all we had was important documents. We got rid of everything in the house that could trace us. If someone were to come here, like a human, we wanted to make sure that no one knew we were here. Whoever comes to this house, they can have it.

I was standing at the front door, waiting for everyone to show up. Isabella was next to Marcus, while Dominic held his body up. I counted everyone to make sure we were here. I told everyone to take absolutely nothing that could slow them down. So no clothes. The only people who needed clothes were the wolves. So Isabella had all their clothes in one bag. Esme had another bag with water in it and Carlisle had another bag that was for food. We were about to head to the store to get them something.

Other than that, no one had anything else.

When I grabbed the door handle, it burned. Almost like it was on fire.

I groaned and yanked my hand back. Isabella immediately came to me and grabbed my hand. It was burned but healing.

I looked at her, confused. "What was that?" I didn't want her to grab it, so I grabbed it again. It didn't burn me this time, it was fine. I shook my head and opened the door.

Of all the years I lived as a human and lived as a vampire. What I saw next surprised me more than anything. (A/N: I really wanted to do a cliff hanger right there, but I knew you guys would HATE me if I did. Also, I haven't posted as recently as I should have, so it's a treat for you guys. You're welcome)

I walked outside to what seemed like a desert. The trees were no longer there. The green grass was no longer in sight. We were literally in the middle of nowhere. I stepped outside the house, seeing nothing but dirt for miles.

When we all stepped out of the house, since we were all surprised and didn't know what to do, literally the house disappeared out of thin air.

Isabella put her hands on top of her head, shocked and speechless.

"Xavier…" Marcus whispered. "You let a vampire in the house…"

"The only person in the house was some pizza delivery guy… He was human…" Isabella chocked out.

"Did he have black hair? Very young looking, was he twitching his fingers?" Marcus asked.

"Y-yes…" I whispered. "He was human."

"No, he wasn't." Marcus said. "His name is Xavier… He has a gift similar to Zafrina's. He can make you see what he wants you to see, in that case, he was human in your eyes. However, his gift is expanded a bit more. Zafrina can make you believe you're in a desert. Xavier can literally place you in the desert. He teleported us all. He's gotten a lot stronger…"

"WHAT?!" Isabella screamed.

I put my hands on top of my head, completely shocked.

"How is it that Aro and Caius were even lucky to get a newborn like that?" I asked him. "Something is not adding up."

"A secret those two have kept from me and I have recently found out." Marcus said. "As a human, your gift can develop. For how they did it, I cannot explain. But Aro and Caius have been watching over humans to see what gifts they will develop if they were to become a vampire. There is an entire list of human names that could or could not have a powerful gift. How they did it, again, I cannot explain. I only just found out about this myself."

We all stood there in silence. Once again, Aro and Caius got the better of us. They were watching us. But I wanted to know why Xavier would send us to the desert and not to Aro and Caius.

"It's a good question." Edward whispered.

"What?" Isabella asked, looking completely defeated.

"Why would Xavier send us here?" I asked. "Not to Aro and Caius."

We looked at Marcus for our answer, but he just shook his head.

"Well, this is a place on earth, right?" I asked.

"Yes." Marcus said.

"So, there has to be a road somewhere. Or human civilization." I said. "We can't just stand here. We can actually find somewhere to go."

"Do you think… that he did that on purpose?" Esme asked. "To not send us to Aro and Caius, but to give us an escape route?"

We all looked at Esme. No one wanted to deny it, but this situation gave us every reason to deny it.

"Is Xavier… truly with Aro and Caius?" I asked.

Marcus groaned and put his hand on his forehead. "I should have realized. Xavier was always with me. He always followed me. I didn't take him when I left. So, yes, this could be an escape route. Or a way for us to leave if Aro and Caius were coming to the house. But I'm not 100% sure with Xavier. He has his moments."

"I don't know if I should be happy about this or upset." I said.

"Let's get moving." Marcus said. "We need to move more during daylight than at night. When was the last time you all fed?" No one said anything. "Oh boy. Let's go."

"Do we run or do we walk?" I asked.

"Run. I'm not doing a fifteen day walk." Rosalie said.

I prepared myself to run, to see how far I could see as my eyes would let me and see if I could see any signs of human civilization but… I couldn't run at vampire speed.

"Emmett… what the hell was that?" Isabella asked.

"Hold on." I said. I tried taking off again, but I was literally running like a human.

"Problem…" Sam said. "I can't phase."

"I can't run…" I whispered. "I'm getting really… tired all of a sudden." I ended up falling over.

Isabella's POV

"Emmett?!" I yelled as he fell over. I didn't want to risk having the same problem as Emmett, so I sped walked over to him. Even my vampire strength was no longer there. I could hardly flip him over.

When I opened his eyes, they were blue.

"His… his eyes are blue." I said, looking at everyone else.

"That… that was the color of his eyes when he was human." Rosalie said, rubbing her eyes. "I remember…"

Suddenly, I became dizzy.

"Are you guys okay?" Sam asked.

I felt myself getting weaker and weaker. My head turned to the side as I fell on Emmett. I saw every vampire start falling to their knees. The wolves were running to everyone, trying to figure out what was happening before my eyes closed.

What was happening?
