"Kate? Kate, wake up." He whispered next to her, shoving her shoulder.
She stirred and grabbed her gun out of instinct, pointing it straight at him.
"Shh, Kate, it's alright. It's me," He thew his hands up in protest.
"Castle." She breathed out, putting her hand over her eyes.
He took the gun from her, placing safely on the coffee table. He checked her wound for any glass that she might have missed, but there's no glass, so he cleans it and re-wraps it. Both are silent until he's done.
"Why didn't you come talk to me or anyone, Kate?"
"I didn't want you to see me so weak." She averted eye contact, sitting still on the couch where she had crashed after they had gotten back from the crime scene.
"Asking for help is not weak. You don't have to be strong all the time. Sometimes you should let someone take care of you."
"I'm scared of that. The last time someone took care of me, they ended up dead. I don't want to go through that again. Plus I don't need your charity."
"It's not charity, it's what partners do."
She started to raise her voice; a defense mechanism of sorts. "Why do you care so much, Castle? I'm broken! What would you want with someone who's broken?"
"You're not broken. You never were." He put a hand on her arm trying to comfort her.
"So you're saying I'm fixable?"
"You fixed yourself. You're the strongest person I know. Now you just need a little push back on your feet." He pulled her to sit next to him on the couch. "You should rest today."
"Will you stay?"
He smiled at her. "Always."
She stood then, holding onto the couch for balance. She was dizzy and frankly still exhausted. "Can you walk tot he room, or do you want me to carry you?" Before she could answer, he scooped her up and she wrapped her arms around his neck. He carried her to his bed, laying her gently on her side. "I'll be right here Kate, go to sleep." He brushed the hair off her forehead as he spoke, and then climbed in next to her.
Even when she's finally asleep, he continued to stroke her hair until she moved closer, tucking her head under his chin and snuggled into his chest, letting him see her when she was weak.
