Castle rubbed his eyes. In front of him was a blank document. He had nothing for the chapter; absolutely nothing. He would think of ideas while he slept, but when he woke up, nothing made sense, and it was getting frustrating.
He leaned over in his chair to look through the study door and see his wife sleeping. He caught a glimpse of the time. 1:05 in the morning. He had been at it for ages with nothing to show for it.
Castle finally decided it was time to throw in the towel. He hopped into bed and moved close to Kate, wrapping his arms around her waist. He kissed her nose and it twitched like a bunny.
He shifted again, their noses rubbing together.
Kate stirred, her eyes still closed. "Mmm, can't sleep, babe?"
"Sleeps not the issue."
"What's the problem, Castle?"
"No ideas for this chapter." He ran a hand through his hair.
"You'll think of something, you always do." She smiled, even though her eyes were still closed, and rearranged herself in his arms.
"Thanks." He said kissing her cheek.
He watched her for a little, observing as her chest rose and fell, and how her eyelashes twitched every so often.
"Castle?" She mumbled.
"Hmm?" He pushed a curl behind her ear.
"Watching me sleep isn't going to give you any ideas."
"It might. Rook might like watching Nikki sleep." He couldn't help but smile when she did.
She teased him. "Rook is creepy."
"Nikki secretly likes it." He pulled her closer, kissing her temple.
Kate curled up next to him. "Maybe she does, maybe she doesn't."
"I think she does."
