Jinx was livid. That stupid Roy. She always seemed to be battling his friends for Roy's attention. Wouldn't it make sense that Roy would pay attention to an attractive female over a bunch of stupid, video game - playing guys? It only made sense. She sighed as she walked down the hall. He was nowhere to be found. It's almost like he wanted to hide from her. Hadn't they just had a nice date? Well, aside from him turning her down for about the tenth time. What was wrong with that boy anyway?
Just as she cleared the corner, her answer was smacking her right in the face. She raised an eyebrow at the boy she had just seen, not too long ago who just so happened to have stolen her boyfriend away. She snickered and walked out into plain view, but of course, not before snapping a quick picture as a keepsake, making sure neither noticed her do it. "Ah, young love." She purred, "Young, homosexual love. So cute." Her smirk completely contradicted her words as she strut toward the two males.
Garth just rolled his eyes and stepped away from Gar. Garth, being fully out and openly gay, had nothing to lose. However, he knew Gar's circumstances.
Garfield didn't know what to do, if this got to the guys, or his friends – before he even told them… who knows what could happen? If it was going to go down like this, he at least wanted to tell his friends and not be afraid to. "What do you want, Jinx?" He asked her plainly, not bothering to step away from Garth, despite Garth having already done so.
"For what? My silence?" She tapped a tentative finger to her chin. "Nothing you could ever possibly give me, Garfield." She laughed a bit. "But thanks for the show." She continued to strut down the hall like she owned the place.
In his mind, he'd already killed Jinx five times. In reality, he was about to smack a hoe, but knew that he couldn't. Not because he couldn't hit a woman – Jinx didn't even qualify for that and Gar wasn't about to get slut all over his hand. "Jinx… name your price." For all he knew, she could've seen much more than she let on she did. Garfield Logan trusted no one.
"No price, Logan." She rolled her eyes. "Cut it out. Desperation does not look good on you." She then tapped her chin. "I can keep a secret...But, if you try any of that with Roy... well, let's just say I won't be as great a secret keeper."
Garfield narrowed his eyes, "You couldn't handle it if he got bored of you and was looking for – here's a shocker – an actual challenge?" He scoffed, "Fine, have it your way… your royal bitchness."
"You really want to be mean to me right now? Really?" She narrowed her eyes. "Well then, nevermind. Deal's off."
And just at that moment, because the universe was completely against Garfield Logan that day, Rachel Roth just happened to be walking by on her way to class.
Rachel stopped and gave each of them their own annoyed, biting look. "Yes?"
"Did you know, that your friend, Garfield Logan, gay?"
Rachel looked a little confused for a moment, then nodded. "Gar is always gay. Why wouldn't he be? What does he have to be sad about?"
Jinx sighed. "Morons, all of you. No, is gay. Like homosexual."
Rachel frowned, then raised an eyebrow, looking through the group. Immediately she burst out laughing. Which was rather scary, since no one had ever seen her genuinly laugh so hard.
Garth began to laugh along with her. "Yes! This is funny! It's all just a joke! Carry on with your life."
And so she did, laughing her way down the hall.
Jinx was just shocked. "...what is wrong with your friends? You're all idiots. No matter, I'll make sure everyone knows by the end of the day."
Garfield sighed, was this really the inevitable? "All good negotiators have some type of deal or want Jinx, what's yours? Is it just to leave Roy alone? I mean, we're friends, if you're looking for something to reach on to… his ass might work for you, since you're always up it. Not being mean, just stating what I've seen on an observational basis."
"I want an apology." She raised her head confidently. "That's all."
Garfield chuckled, "Oh c'mon Jinx, that seems way too easy. The only thing you want from me, is an apology?"
"I haven't heard one yet. You feel the need to bargain for more? You really aren't too wise, are you?"
He narrowed his eyes, "Alright Jinx, I'm sorry. There. I said it."
She began to act all cutesy and play with her hair. "What are you sorry for?"
Garfield narrowed his eyes, "Everything. There we go, that should cover it all." A tad bit of sarcasm in his voice.
"No. I want a sincere apology."
He heaved a sigh, "Alright, okay… I'm sorry for the – hey, wait… sincere? You're the one blackmailing me… just saying." He told her, a hand in the air to emphasize his point.
She raised an eyebrow. "Last chance to get it right. Apologize."
Garfield sighed once more, "Oh okay, alright… I'm sorry Jinx. I'm sorry for the loose comments I made to you, I'm sorry for any type of rudeness I've shown to you. I'm sorry. My sincerest apologies."
Her eyes seemed a little glossy. "Well thank you, Gar. That's all I really wanted." And with that, she stomped away and didn't look back.
Garfield looked to Garth, "… did any of that make sense to you? Because someone needs to help me, I'm really fucking lost."
Garth frowned. "I don't trust her."
Garfield nodded, "You're right, I don't either. It was way too easy to be all that she really wanted. But… I… call me irrational but…" he stammered, blushing like mad.
Garth chuckled and poked Gar's stomach, "What is it?"
"Tell me," he began nervously. "would you actually, be with, someone like me and… be proud of it?"
Garth looked down at his feet. "Someone like you?" He said it like an insult. "Someone handsome, charming, funny, and compassionate?" He shook his head. "Never." He gave a sultry wink.
Garfield could've sworn that his heart was lodged in his throat, beating like nobody's business. "Garth… you wouldn't… just, be with me for a little bit, then leave me?"
Garth rolled his eyes. "Where would you get that idea?"
The young blond ran a hand through his hair; it seemed he was dealing with all types of emotions. "Well, a little birdie told me… that this, is what you do."
"Is a little birdie named... Roy?" He sighed. "That boy. He's a rascal. Don't worry about it, Gar. I won't do you harm." He gave a reassuring smile, and since people were flooding into the hall, he ended with a friendly pat on the shoulder. "See you after school." He said, before sinking into the mass of students.
Garfield sighed, "Fuck. My. Life."
(T~T)
Garfield just happened to be walking in on yet another surprising conversation in room 102. Roy stood, headphones around his neck, glasses covering his eyes. A girl with pink hair, infamously known as Jinx to her friends and admirers, on the verge of tears in front of him. He seemed remorseful.
"Am I hideous or something?" She cried, crossing her arms over her chest vulnerably.
He sighed, reaching out to hold her, but she flinched and backed away. He took a step forward and tried once more, but she stepped away again. "Do you absolutely hate me?" She continued to sob.
"No, no. Of course not. Don't cry," he hushed her, reaching a hand out. "Hey, don't cry." This just made her cry harder. He took her hand and caressed it in his own. Gar couldn't help but think how kind, patient, and gentle he was being.
She seemed to calm a bit. "Then why are you so distant? You won't even touch me."
He sighed once more, "I'm a gentleman," He admitted, but to someone who knew him well, they'd notice the touch of irony in his voice.
She frowned as though unsatisfied, but her sobs quieted. "I feel like I'm in competition for your attention with your stupid guy friends."
Roy shrugged, "Well, maybe you are. Hey, now. Don't cry again. Come here." He pulled her into his arms. "Sorry, didn't mean it. What's the problem?"
"We've been together so long and alone so many times, but you won't take the hint. We could… well, you know."
He frowned. "We've been dating for like three days!"
"But I know you liked me for awhile."
He seemed to bite back a smile, "We'll talk about this later." She leaned up for a kiss, but he ignored the gesture and kissed her forehead, which brought up a choked sob from her. He just gave her a light nudge toward the door. She took the hint and started toward the door. Gar immediately ducked to the side, the wall blocking him from their view, and them from his.
But, something made her stop and turn back to face him. "He doesn't like you, you know."
Gar could just picture Roy running a hand through his red hair. "What are you talking about?"
This seemed to give her some leverage, and so she was confident once more. "Garfield. He's with Garth."
There was a long moment of silence. "Where'd you get that?" Roy asked anger evident in his voice.
"I took it this afternoon." She would have held her head high in triumph. "Just thought I'd let you know. You're wasting your time. He doesn't like you, so you might as well just stay with me." Roy was silent still. She just continued. "He's not that -"
"SHUT UP! For five seconds! Just shut up!" Roy yelled. Gar wanted to peek just to see the expression of the pink haired girl, but the screaming even had him shaking. "I need to think." He explained, trying to calm down. But more rage filled his voice than he wanted her to believe. A minute later, he took a deep breath. "Delete the picture. You shouldn't have it in the first place."
"Or what?!"
"Or I'll be forced to deal with the problem myself."
"What are you talking about? Stop that! You're scaring me, Roy. Hey! Let go of me!" She cried out. "Ow, you're hurting me."
Roy just answered, "You know, I really dislike you."
She started to cry once more, and Gar wasn't sure if it was because he was 'hurting' her, or because of what he said.
"I'll keep this," He said.
"Give it back!"
"Nope, actually-" Gar heard what he rightly assumed to be a phone whipping at the wall.
She cried a bit more and yelled, "You will regret that!" And then she ran out, blinding from Gar by her tears.
Gar heard some more crashes, and a shattering noise, then just silence. Nothing but silence.
Garfield peeked out from behind the corner, "Hey… uh, I'm here for target practice?" He looked to Roy, "And I'm the target." He gave a subtle grin.
Roy smiled and laughed as if nothing happened. "Yea, of course." He then looked around at the few desks tipped over and the smashed vase. "I was... remodeling... what do you think about it?" He referred to the upside-down desk.
The blond male gave a smirk, his hands shoved in the pockets of his denim jeans. "Oh it's fantastic, it's got that total 'on the edge' feel."
He smiled, roughing up his hair. "That's what I was going for." He then walked past Gar, in a rush as usual. "Our stuff is outside."
Garfield knew he shouldn't press into things, at least not directly anyway. "So, how was your day?" He hoped if there was any ranting to be done, he'd let it loose right then and there.
Roy just pulled arrow after arrow, harassing trees, targets, even coming close to a few poor squirrels who got in the way. "Fine. You?"
Garfield's eyes widened. "Well, I don't think that poor squirrel who almost got his ass on blast, could say the same." He joked, then clearing his throat.
"Yeah, well, squirrels need to stay in their own stupid trees. There's no reason why a squirrel should be watching us, and judging us. It was getting too close anyways... I should've shot it when I had the chance." He shot into the empty space where the squirrel was before.
The other male looked to Roy, "So you're saying that squirrels can't go out, looking for food? Or out just because? I mean, I wouldn't want to stay cooped up in my house all day." He shot one arrow, slightly missing a squirrel, "I'M SO SORRY!" The animal responded by throwing a nut it gathered at Garfield, then scurrying off. "Ahem, anyway… where were we?"
"No, some stupid pink squirrels should just stay in their effing trees." Roy shook his head. "And, we were talking about... uh.. acorns?"
Garfield held up what was thrown at him by the angry squirrel, "I tell you, it drives me nuts." He finished with a big signature grin.
Roy laughed, then instantly went serious. "So, what'd you do today?"
Garfield gave a shrug, "Nothing much. Well, not overly interesting… boring stuff really, nothing worth taking a picture," he blushed heavily as he quickly stumbled over his words. "Anyway! So… do I stand up against the tree with an apple on my head? Do I walk this way, then this way?"
"Yea, you might as well." Roy replied completely serious, shooting an apple out of a tree. "Go for it."
Garfield's eyes widened. "Are… you… fucking serious right now?"
"Yes. Completely. You trust me, don't you?" He narrowed his eyes behind his sunglasses. "You don't think I would... hurt you do you?" He smirked. "Go on, then."
He skeptically and slowly made his way towards the apple, "If you miss, you're the one to break it to the family. Those are the only conditions I have."
"Yeah, yeah." He raised his bow with a mischievous smile. "Now, come on. Get into position."
The blond male winced, "I'd rather be on my back."
"Well, you're not. Stop stalling."
He moved into position, "Oh alright, here I am. Wait, do I get a lawyer? Can I at least sign my will?"
Roy sighed. "No."
Garfield sighed, balancing the apple on his head, "Fine, okay… I will haunt you so bad if you kill me."
The minute the apple touched his head, Roy took aim. "Hey, so I thought maybe we could talk about something." He shut one eye, ready to take a shot. "So... what's with you and Garth?" He asked, trying to be casual. But Gar, with an arrow staring him in the face, couldn't help but think there might be a wrong answer.
Garfield swallowed what seemed to be a lump in his throat, "I… uh… well… nothing much really. Why?"
Roy shot an arrow that just barely missed his shoulder. He could tell by the easy way it hit the center of the tree behind him that it was deliberate and Roy was just messing with him. "Don't be scared. I got you." He aimed another arrow. He shrugged, "Just seemed like there was a bit more between you two. Are you sure nothing else is going on?"
He sighed, "Well, at least I think so. I don't really know, it's confusing."
"Yeah, it is. Do you... like him?" Roy tilted his head as he made sure to get a perfect aim.
Garfield shrugged his shoulders, "I think… I do, I don't really know. Do you like anyone at the moment?"
"Actually." He let go of the arrow and it instantly pierced the apple on Garfield's head. "I think Jinx and I broke up today."
Garfield tilted his head, "Oh?"
"She... she's very..." He shot another apple then gestured for Gar to pick it up. "Again." He then frowned, "Did she talk to you? At all today?"
Garfield sighed, picking up the apple, balancing it perfectly again. "Yeah, she did."
"Son of a bitch!" He responded, letting go of the arrow. It just barely missed Gar's torso and hit the ground beside him. "...Uh..." He tried to cover himself. "Stupid squirrel came back." He grabbed another arrow. "What did she say?"
Garfield shrugged, "Nothing important, just rambled on, y'know Jinx. So you think you guys broke up?" Changing the subject was good, good indeed.
Roy shot the apple off Gar's head for the second time. "No, actually. I lied. We're still together." At that moment, Roy decided he would never mention the picture to Gar. He would take care of Jinx on his own, and make sure that Gar isn't bothered by it at all. "Our relationship just gets stronger by the second. We are... picture perfect." He gave an ironic laugh at his own joke with himself.
Garfield raised an eyebrow, "And a picture can speak a thousand words."
Roy nodded. "Shoot me."
His green eyes widened. "What? … Roy, I don't think I'm ready for that…"
Roy walked over to Gar and pick an apple off the ground. "Well, let me tell you a secret. I have never been good in a fight, so I learned an excellent skill." He smirked. "I can duck right before anything hits me in the face." He smiled. "Aim high. Better it goes over my head, rather below."
Garfield nodded and shakily took the arrow and pulled it back, he did just as Roy said and aimed high. Looking at Roy, his heart began to beat faster than normal. His hands were shaky, his breathing haphazard and rather quick. Perspiration quickly set in, he closed his eyes for a moment, letting the arrow go and hitting a lot farther up the tree than planned, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Roy laughed. "Close enough! Practice over." Roy came over and put a hand on Gar's arm to see if he was shaking. He was, but just a little. He pulled Gar into a hug. "I knew you wouldn't mutilate me." He pulled away and grinned.
Garfield could've sworn he felt his heart palpitate. "Well… I… certainly… tried not to… I didn't want to hurt you because that's not how you treat someone you li- uhh… shhit." He cursed softly at the end of it.
Roy's face went blank, then he bit back the cutest, sweetest, shyest smile. "Well, I'd never hurt you either." He winked.
Garfield gave a grin, feeling somewhat back to normal. "Is that so?"
"Well, I wouldn't lie to you either." He smirked, looking down at his watch. "Oh, I'm late to pick up Annabelle! I have to leave... You wanna come with? Emma and Annabelle could hangout for awhile..."
He thought to himself, his home was close to Garth's… but then Garth was supposed to walk him home… this could get sticky. "If you want me to, I could." Everything seemed to be such a blur, if he was asked his name, he probably couldn't answer.
"Don't do me any favors. I just thought, if you weren't doing anything- you look confused. You okay?"
Garfield chuckled, "I… sure, I'm alright. If it's anything serious and I drop dead, then can I see my lawyer?"
Drunalove: Yeah me too, haha but thank you for reading!
