Author's Note; Hello! Chapter 9, ladies and gentlemen... Enjoy.

The older male followed behind the younger as they passed different rooms to the house, pulling absentmindedly at his black hoodie sleeve. What must've been a hundred different thoughts about what Light's Mother might be like ran through his mind, hoping she was nice before anything else. Light entered the kitchen with Beyond right behind, already seeing his mother busying herself with the cooking. "Mother.." He greeted softly, smiling slightly. His mother turned with wide eyes, a bright smile crossing her face. "Raito! You're home.. I'm so relieved." She glanced back at Beyond, curious. "Who's this?"
B blinked and spoke up, trying to recall any bit of social skills he'd learned. "Hi, I'm Rue, Raito's friend." He smiled politely and continued pulling at his own sleeve. "Oh! So that was your car out front? I'm so glad you were able to bring my son home." A hand rested on Light's shoulder, smiling sweetly."My daughter was telling me you were bringing him home." Light huffed slightly."That's beside the point, Mother.." He interrupted, then begun to explain that Beyond hadn't anywhere else to go and his mother happily agreed to let B live with them.
Beyond smiled, genuinely this time. He didn't know why, he'd only known her for a bit but she felt sort of like a mother figure. "Thank you, Mrs. Yagami." He was really grateful things worked out how they did. "Oh, heavens.. I'll have to contact the school now and tell them they'll have a new student.." She mumbled to herself, reaching for the phone. Light merely rolled his eyes, taking Beyond's hand and leading him away, chuckling about how dramatic his mother was.
B allowed himself to be pulled away, now distracted thinking about school. But as long as he was going with Light he wasn't worried. "I've never been to an actual school before... Hm." He put his other thumb to his lip. "Don't worry. They'll put you in my class. And you'll stay in it as long as you don't slack off." Light smiled slightly, clutching Beyond's hand as they headed back upstairs. "Good." B smiled and squeezed the other's hand, "But uh, i left Wammy's when i was 13 so i never actually learned high school stuff..."
"That's fine, you'll catch on quickly." Light smiled faintly as they entered his bedroom. "Okay." Beyond nodded and followed him to his room, plopping back down on his bed. He crossed his legs like a pretzel underneath him and pulled a strawberry jam jar from his pocket, smiling as he tossed the lid carelessly on the mattress. The brunette sat down at his desk, eyeing an assignment that was due tomorrow testily with a frown on his lips. He knew he hadn't started it yet.. He wouldn't let his reputation fall. He picked up a pencil and brushed his fingers through his hair to keep it out of his eyes.
B raised his head to peer over Light's shoulder, but shrugged it off realizing it was just school work. He turned on Light's TV and flipped through the channels, getting the buttons on the remote a bit sticky with jam in the process. He stopped on a children's cartoon and titled his head. "Hm.." Light sighed faintly, pressing the end of the pencil to his lower lip in thought, staring at the blank, lined sheets. Normally he would be listening the to news to see if there were any criminals he could kill off.. He was glad Beyond was distracting him.
B smiled at a joke made on the show, absentmindedly sucking the jam off his fingers. "Light, do you know the talking sponge show?" He asked without looking away from the screen. "Yes, B.." The younger sighed softly, glancing over this shoulder at the television screen before back at his unstarted work, frowning slightly and closing his eyes, although they snapped back open a second later once an idea came to mind.
Beyond continued to watch as if Light hadn't spoke and chuckled, putting his thumb to his lower lip. As mentally unstable as B was he actually enjoyed cartoons. The brunette couldn't help but smile when B laughed, the raven seemed genuinely happy. He began scribbling down an essay, his mind suddenly full of ideas. "Hm, I like this show Spongebob... How can they have a beach with more water if they're already underwater? And why can't they swim? They're swimming around all day when they walk..-" B rambled on to himself, biting his thumb nail.
Light turned his head to watch the raven curiously, bemused by his childishness. "Hm.. It;s a cartoon, B. Not reality." The brunette yawned softly, turning back to his work and drumming his fingers against the desk. Beyond shrugged and waited until Spongebob was over to change the channel, stopping on an action movie. "Hm.." He leaned forward and set the remote down as he watched, "Hey, come watch with me." He spoke to Light without looking in his direction.
"I'm busy writing an essay." Light explained, sighing faintly as he ran his fingers through his light brown hair and briefly closed his eyes. "What about?" B tilted his head curiously, biting his thumb nail. "A 500 word explanation of our views on Kira. It's difficult writing an essay on myself." He scoffed, moving his hand under his chin. Beyond snickered, "How ironic.. Is Light Yagami for or against Kira?" He raised an eyebrow, turning away from the TV screen to peak over his shoulder.
"I don't really know how to answer that.. Since Kira is done and over. I suppose he came to his senses." Light smiled slightly. B nodded and smiled back, "And in the most unexpected way possible too, I heard." The brunette chuckled, "Yes, falling in love with his captor is very un-Kira.." He mumbled. "In love.." The older repeated in a low voice, it felt weird to say. "I'm glad it happened.."
"Though, those feelings being reciprocated is more odd." Light smirked, tilting his head back slightly to look at Beyond. "Why's that?" B tilted his head, if anything he thought after A he could never find love and would die alone. "To be in love with a killer who kills using a notebook.. Is far from normal. Though I'm grateful, only a few would look past those sorts of people." Light smiled faintly. "It's not like i can judge someone for killing." The raven smirked. "You might have killed more people but the people I killed were brutal murder. For you to look past that is amazing to me.."
Light sighed softly, lifting his head and moving to sit on the chair backwards, looking up at B. "After you showed me mercy, naturally I knew you had another side." Beyond smiled slightly and shrugged, he still never expected anyone to love him, let alone Kira. He tilted his head forward and kissed the other's lips lightly. Light kissed him back softly with a smile. "Don't you ever doubt the feelings I have for you.. Understand?"
"Of course, same for you." B smiled and brushed hair out of Light's eyes as he kissed his forehead, sitting back on the bed. For some reason, acting this way was easier with Light.
Light flushed slightly, kisses to his forehead seemed to fluster him more than anything else. He didn't know why, but his face felt heated when he did that. B smiled, noticing Light's flustered expression. He'd just have to do that more often.. "Can you at least come write next to me?" He tilted his head and patted the spot on the bed next to him, turning back to the TV screen. "Fine.." He complied, sighing faintly as he stood from his desk, picking up his book and pencil and climbing onto his bed and resting his back against the headboard.
Beyond grinned and moved closer to him, sneaking a peak at his school work. He was reading over some of the sentences Light was reading but heard screams coming from the movie on TV and quickly turned back. On the screen there was a building bursting into flames, people inside slowly burning alive. Naturally with B's fear of fire, his eyes went wide as he stared. "Li-" He tried to tell him to look up. The brunette skimmed over the sentence, the pencil between his teeth. The screaming coming from the TV was normal, since most the channels were full of gore. But when B's weak voice reached his ears, he finally looked up, noticing the fearful look in his eyes. "B? Are you alright?" Memories flashed through B's mind, he started shaking violently but he couldn't force his gaze away. He couldn't even force out any words. He squeezed his eyes shut but kept opening them again, a few tears falling down his face. "Cha- Change it!"
Light threw down his book and leaned forward, covering his eyes with his hand and pressing buttons on the TV to change the channel, flicking through a few violent programs before stopping on a documentary channel. "It's alright.. It's gone now.." He mumbled softly. B sniffled and immediately clung to Light, wrapping his arms around him in a hug as he buried his face into his shoulder. He figured maybe he'd feel safer this way and would finally stop shaking. That and of course he didn't want Light to see his weak and crying face. He hated his fear and he hated when people found out.
"Oh-.." Light was slightly surprised by the sudden action, soon raising a hand to rest against the back of his head and the other on his back, gently drawing circles there with his thumb to calm him. "It's alright, B.." He soothed, closing his amber eyes. Beyond closed his eyes, his racing heart beat slowly returning to a normal pace. He felt much more comfortable and relaxed than any other times he had breakdowns like this. When that happened there was no one and he had to calm himself down. B sighed and turned his head slightly so he could speak. "I'm.. Sorry." He mumbled.
Light placed a gentle and sweet kiss to the corner of B's mouth, still slowly rubbing his back with his thumb. "It's completely fine.. I understand." He spoke kindly, lifting the hand from behind his head to brush away a tear from his cheek. B smiled a bit, he'd stopped shaking for the most part. He sniffled and blinked a few times, stopping the tears in his eyes. "Thank you.. I love you." He pulled away from the hug but held onto Light's arm.
The unfamiliar words caught Light off guard, causing him to fluster slightly, stuttering."I-I love you too." He smiled faintly, kissing the raven on the head. Beyond sighed in relief, a full smile appearing on his face. He didn't really know how to feel love anymore but with Light he just.. Knew. There was no explaining it. And he believed Light felt the same way. He tilted his head up and kissed his lips before he pulled away and looked at the essay tossed on the bed. "Sorry about that, you can uh continue writing now." He chuckled and gave him the paper, already feeling like his normal self.
"Ah, right.." Light smiled softly taking back his book and settling his back against the headboard once again, patting the spot next to him as an invitation for Beyond to come sit beside him. B grabbed the remote, settling in the spot next to Light. He changed the channel from some boring documentary back to the cartoons and smiled, hugging his knees to his chest. The brunette chuckled slightly, he guessed that Beyond preferred cartoons over actually learning things, it made him curious to what tomorrow was going to be like. He thought on the topic as he continued his assignment.
Beyond continued watching, at times actually talking to the TV. He blinked and looked over at Light. B ran his fingers through Light's hair, playing with it softly without any care to whether it was distracting him or not. "Say.." Light started in a quiet tone, "What're your views on Kira now then?" He asked, turning his head slightly to look at Beyond. He didn't really pay much attention to the older male fiddling with his hair, since he quite liked it.
"Well.." B had already told him but of course words had to be adjusted since Light Yagami wasn't evil. "Kira thinks what he's doing is right but it's not, he's still killing. The power of Kira itself is evil even if the person is not. All in all.. I disapprove." He gave a thumb down and shook his head. Light nodded once and smiled slightly. He views were understandable, even if he still didn't completely agree with them. "Then I have another question.." The brunette turned his head back, continuing his work. "If you were to obtain a Death Note.. What would you do with it?"
It's not like Beyond hadn't thought of this before, so he immediately had an answer. "I don't believe I'd do anything with it. When I killed people in the past it was much more satisfying doing the job with my own two hands rather than writing their name in a notebook. So anyone I want to kill I'll go do it myself, don't need a death note." He shrugged.
"Hm.." Light sighed faintly, it was the answer he had expected to get. "Fair enough." He mumbled, scribbling down a few more sentences. "You're not writing this down are you?" B raised an eyebrow, peering over his shoulder at the paper. "Just a few things. It's difficult writing an essay on yourself without writing something that a normal person who isn't Kira wouldn't know." Light shrugged slightly, glancing at him.
"Oh." B nodded understandably, "Are you almost done?" He grabbed a paper and pencil from the bedside table Light wasn't using along with a book, thinking of what he could draw while he waited. "Half way through, I think." The brunette stretched, sighing faintly before thinking to himself, running the end of the pencil across his bottom lip in thought. The raven came up with an idea and smiled, beginning to sketch the outline of a person. Something B enjoyed was that he was fairly good at drawing.
Light skimmed over the words again, counting as he went and distractedly tapping the pencil against his lip. B continued drawing, shading in the hair first before working on the rest of the face. He turned slightly just in case Light saw by accident before he was finished. Light raised a brow, peering at the raven. He was up to something.. The brunette rolled his eyes and snickered to himself, letting it go for now as he turned his attention back to his work. Beyond smirked, this was certainly coming out well.. He payed special attention to the eyes and smile with the facial features, shading in the eye color.
Light was about three quarters done when he heard Beyond let out a satisfied noise, which he guessed meant had had finished drawing. "Finally going to show me what you've been doing for the past half hour?" The brunette chuckled lightly, never taking his eyes off his work. "Mhm!" He smiled and looked over the drawing, making sure everything was perfect before holding up the paper. "Tada!" The drawing was of Light, a genuine smile on the brunette's face where his amber eyes seemed to shine. B hoped Light liked it as much as he did.
Light looked up after finishing his sentence, eyes widening immediately as he gazed at the drawing. It was amazing.. Unlike anything he had seen before that he had to blink twice to make sure he wasn't looking into a mirror. A smile graced his lips. "It's amazing, B.." He said breathlessly, completely surprised. Beyond grinned, Light looked exactly like the drawing when he smiled. "Really?" He looked at the paper and back to Light, who still wore a surprised expression. The brunette nodded, smiling warmly."You should draw more often. And take up art classes at school."
"I'd like that." He answered honestly, a small smile on his lips as he looked down at his drawing. "Thanks." He kissed Light's cheek before touching up the shading on the hair in the drawing. Light smiled to himself. He was glad B had something he enjoyed doing."I'll take you to an art teacher tomorrow so you can sign up for next term then, okay?" Beyond nodded and smiled, "Alright." He was still a bit nervous every time he thought about going to a new school tomorrow but as long as Light was with him he didn't mind. "Here." He gave him the paper, "For you."
"Oh, thank you." He smiled gratefully and took the drawing, reaching up to pin it to the pinboard above his bed. B look up at the pinboard, smiling slightly as he bit his thumb nail. "Perfect." He leaned back against the headboard, "And can I see your essay when you're done with it?" Light chuckled and nodded slightly."Yeah. I'm almost done." He spoke between a yawn, looking back down at his work and skimming the words he had written.
B rested his chin on Light's shoulder, looking down at the already written words. "When you wrote the first name, did you know this would all happen?" "Hm?" The younger blinked for a moment before sighing, shaking his head slightly."Of course not.. I was only testing it out then.. I found it hard to believe that a notebook could have such powers.." He mumbled, finishing up his essay. B nodded, "But some point along the line you realized and, overwhelmed with power, decided to use the notebook to your advantage." He recalled Light saying something about being the God of his new world.
"Sadly.." The brunette sighed and signed his name at the bottom of the paper. "I've always wanted to make the world a cleaner, more serene place to live. When I figured out how strong the power of the notebook was, I was practically addicted." "Mhm.." Beyond understood how Light felt, and chuckled lightly, "If I hadn't faked that heart attack, you would've gotten me too." He patted his shoulder and read over the paper. Beyond skimmed over the sentences, resting his thumb on his lower lip. He nodded a few times while reading, Light did an impressive job at pretending to not be Kira himself.
Light folded his arms behind his head and laid down, closing his amber eyes. "Hm. Good job." B smiled approvingly and set the paper down on Light's stomach. "Oh, you think so?" Light opened one eye to look at the raven and smiled, closing his eye again."Thank you." "Mhm." B nodded and laid down next to him, "Are you tired?" He stared up at the ceiling.
Yeah, a bit." Light mumbled tiredly, stifling another yawn. Beyond nodded and sighed softly, snuggling his head into Light's chest. "Me too.." He mumbled and closed his eyes, holding onto Light's shirt with one hand. The brunette chuckled softly, smiling before heard a voice called from downstairs. "Raito! Dinner!" His mother called. Beyond sat up quickly, "Food." He smiled, realizing he was a little hungry. He swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood, "Let's go."
Light blinked slightly before snickering, picking up his book from his stomach and standing, setting it on his desk. B opened Light's door for him and rubbed the back of his neck as he waited to follow behind. The brunette smiled and kissed B's cheek as he walked past, making his way downstairs.
