Author's Note; Chapter 12! School! The dreaded experience.. Enjoy!
oOo
The two walked in silence until reaching the school, holding hands and looking up at the building before them. Light was already used to this school, he thought nothing of it and was already heading towards the main doors. Beyond however, clearly showed nervousness in his facial expression as he followed. He noticed how Light let go of his hand once inside, and said nothing of it, stuffing his hands in his pockets and looking around the inside of the building.
The brunette couldn't help but notice how B was reacting to going back to school, he looked like a child on their first day. Beyond bit his thumb nail and looked up at the ceiling, then down the hallway. "Hm.." Light glanced up at the school clock. "We're an hour early.. Is there anywhere you'd like to start off?" He asked, turning his head to the raven. Beyond shook his head and smiled, "You can be my tour guide." He grinned. Light chuckled and nodded, pulling the other towards the front office. He waved slightly to the lady working behind a desk, then mumbled to Beyond. "You'll have to talk to her later about your 'transfer'.. Don't worry, she's nice." He smiled softly. "Okay." Beyond nodded and looked up to the lady, somewhat smiling back.
Light led him through to the entrance, "I suppose I'll show you the homeroom first." He decided. "Alright." B shrugged and followed behind the other, looking into classrooms as they passed. The inside of the school was surprisingly bigger than Wammy's House, it really was something..
They walked in silence for a few minutes before Light turned and slid open the door to their homeroom. "This is where we meet each morning before classes. Rollcall, if that makes more sense." Light explained, glancing over his shoulder. B nodded and looked inside, looking around the room. It was just a normal classroom like he was used to. "Homeroom.. Okay." "Remember.. Room 14, alright?" Light smiled faintly, before closing the door and reaching into his back pocket for his timetable. "I'll just show you the rooms were in for today, 'kay?"
"We change rooms on different days?" B raised his eyebrows, looking away from the door. Light chuckled lightly and shook his head, "We have different rooms for each subjects." He explained, eyeing his timetable. "Ooh okay." Beyond chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck, looking at the paper.
Light handed him the piece of paper and folded his arms."What've we got first then, Hm?" "Um.." Beyond pointed to the writing class box at the top, "This?" Light smiled slightly and nodded, "Yep. Luckily I remembered my essay." He chuckled softly before taking Beyond's hand again and taking him around to all the classrooms they had that day. As B walked around the hallways with Light, he still felt like the school was so big that there were hallways he hadn't even been in. It would take some getting used to but at least he couldn't get lost.
When they had checked out the classroom and Beyond had definitely remembered where they all were, The school was half full and the two were sitting under a shady tree. "See? It's not that bad, is it?" Light questioned. "No, it actually looks nice. Much bigger than the other one." He answered with a smile, referring to Wammy's. "Of course. " The younger male smiled faintly before turning his head to the side to watch a few of the students fooling around.
B closed his eyes and rested his head against the tree, "It's gonna take getting used to, I'm sure.." "I'm sure you'll catch on quickly." Light's amber eyes were fixed on a certain student who he used to call his best friend. Up until the Kira incident, that was... B followed his gaze to the person he was staring at, "Who's that?" He nodded towards him.
"A complete douche." Light scowled, insults like that were rarely heard from the brunette, but they were words that perfectly fitted this person. "He used to be a friend of mine before this whole Kira thing started.. He asked me for my views on Kira. I told him I wasnt against him and since then, he's hated me and confronted me multiple times about being Kira." Beyond was surprised, usually Light didn't act this way. He hadn't even heard him insult anyone, excluding B himself of course. He sighed and shook his head, "Idiots." "I should've wrote his name down." Light muttered sourly to himself, bringing a knee up to his chest and resting an arm on it. He had already caught his ex-friend glaring at him a few times.
"I'm surprised you didn't. I would have. Then again, a notebook isn't really my style, but..." Beyond mumbled then cut himself off, "But no more. Who knows, maybe after the whole Kira sensation blows over he could come crawling back.. By that point though you'll only be mine." B smirked. Light was already thinking about killing that idiot. It was a thought that would probably be stuck in his head for the rest of the day. His amber eyes narrowed at the student before he turned away completely. "What was that?" He asked. "Nothing." B shook his head and stared at him for a moment, as if reading his mind. "Don't do it."
Light glanced up at the sky. "Why not? He'd bloody deserve it." He scowled slightly, still watching him out the corner of his eye. "I'm serious. It's over now. Let it go or you could get carried away again." He turned Light's head to look him straight in the eye. "It's quite the opposite of getting carried away.. Rather controlling things.." He frowned slightly at the raven. "I know what I'm doing." "Fine. Only cause this one person deserves it. But no more after that." B sighed. "Hmph.. I'll wait until the right moment.. He deserves a proper humiliation." Light sighed softly, turning his head away.
Beyond frowned and rubbed Light's arm, leaning his head to the side. He knew about a friend who betrayed him so he could understand how Light felt. The brunette sighed softly and closed his eyes, relaxing into the comfort of the slow rubbing on his arm. "Hm." B squeezed Light's arm, "Muscles." He snickered. Light blinked slowly and looked down at him curiously. "Huh?" He raised a brow before chuckling lightly. B poked his arm and chuckled, "Light has stronger arms than BB." "Oh, I highly doubt it." Light scoffed and pushed B's hand away. "Are you done obsessing over my arms now?" "I was not obsessing but yes." Beyond smirked and ruffled Light's hair, "Is it time for class yet?"
Light reached into his pocket for his phone, then remembered with a frown. "Well if someone hadn't smashed my phone, I could've checked. And we're out of view of the school clock." Beyond laughed, "Who smashed your phone?" He smiled innocently and tilted his head. Light rolled his eyes, grumbling. "You did. Ah, do you have yours?" He asked. "Of course." He reached into his pocket, handing his phone to Light.
Light flipped it open, checking the time. "Hm.. We have fifteen minutes or so." Light smiled and handed his phone back. "Ah, okay." Beyond took his phone back and flipped through his messages, leaning against Light. Light stifled a soft yawn, closing his honey brown eyes, the spring breeze gently rustling through their hair. B was still tired so he felt himself falling asleep, still clutching his phone and Light's arm.
"Hey.." Light mumbled when he opened his eyes, gently shaking his arm to stir the older male awake. "You can't fall asleep." He chuckled. "Hm?" Beyond opened one eye, touching his contact lightly that was starting to hurt from closing his eyes too long. "Are you alright?" Light tilted his head slightly, watching the raven curiously. "Mhm.." He popped out the lense, touching his real crimson eye. Light raised a brow before looking around to see if anyone was watching, the thought of an idea. "Say.. Can you see his lifespan then? What does it say?" He asked, indicating to his old friend.
Beyond looked up and nodded with a sigh, "Yes but I don't ever speak of anyone's lifespan Light, please don't put me in that position." Light frowned slightly, turning his head away. "Right.. Ryuk said the same thing." He muttered. "Yeah but the difference is I care about you Light.." B frowned, "Sorry.." Light sighed faintly. "I understand. It doesn't really matter anyway, since I know when this person is going to die.." Beyond cleared his throat, "Yep.." Sometimes he really didn't understand Light.
The brunette turned his head back to his old friend, eyeing him for a few moments before scoffing and looking away. "Maybe we should leave then?" Beyond raised an eyebrow, looking over to the lifespan above the friend's head. It was decreasing, that wasn't good. "Why?" Light asked curiously, raising a brow and tilting his head. "Cause whenever you see him you get upset?" B looked back over from his lifespan to Light's. "Tch..I'm not upset." He scowled slightly with a frown. Light looked over at Beyond, seeing the crimson red eyes averted above his own head, and tilted it curiously."What is it?" He asked.
B looked back down and smiled slightly, "Nothing.. But I want to tell you something.." "Hm,what is it?" The brunette yawned faintly, folding his arms behind his head against the tree. "Well, it's just that.. When you went into the warehouse with me.. Your death date was very close.. But after you gave up being Kira, it went back up.. Normally I wouldn't tell someone this but I though you needed to know you did the right thing giving up Kira and that you should stick by it."
"Hm.." Light merely sighed, closing his eyes. "It doesn't matter when I die.. To be honest." He mumbled, opening his honey brown eyes to watch the raven. "Kira on not.. I still think this world is filth." B chuckled and leaned against him, "And that it is.." He agreed, looking down and playing with his tie. "Hm.." Light stood when the bell finally rang to go to homeroom, reaching a hand out to help Beyond up.
Beyond looked up and took Light's hand pulling himself up and looking back at the ground, making sure he hadn't forgotten anything. Light smiled softly and squeezed his hand before letting it go and shoving his hands into his pants pockets, leading him to class. B blinked and shrugged, following quickly behind Light while he looked around the still unfamiliar hallways and rooms. Light briefly checked his back pocket to make sure his notebook was still there, sighing in relief since it was. He was slightly worried, there was a possibility that he'd want to keep writing down names once he started back up again. Beyond didn't notice, eyeing the students who walked into the same classroom as them. He then waited behind Light to find out where to sit, hoping he didn't have to sit by himself.
Light sat at the back of the classroom, the seat next to him always vacant since no one was ever bored enough to talk to someone as concentrated as Light. B took the seat next to Light, glad that the seat was empty. He hoped he could get to sit with Light in all the classes. He sighed and hugged his knees to his chest, looking around the room and at the brunette.
The younger glanced over at him and chuckled lightly, tapping his knee. "I'd sit normally if you don't want to draw attention to yourself.." He whispered. Beyond raised an eyebrow and looked down, realizing how he was sitting. "Oh, right." He nodded and put his legs down, adjusting a bit to feel comfortable. The brunette smiled lightly, turning his head back to the front as the teacher came in. Beyond eyed the teacher, nervously putting his thumb to his lower lip as he bounced his knee a bit under the desk. Light intertwined his fingers under his chin and look out the window as she begun to mark off who was here and who wasn't.
B tilted his head slightly, silently drumming his fingers against the desk. He looked away from Light and out the window but it wasn't as interesting to look at. The more he stared at Light the more he saw of him. He loved everything about the brunette, it was like Light was made for him. His appearance was flawless in Beyond's eyes, and even their conflicting personalities seemed to click. B sighed and averted his eyes down to Light's pants, how he wished to get in there...
The brunette turned his head slightly when Beyond shifted. Had he been staring at him? Light blinked a few times and followed his gaze, flustering a bit and snapping his fingers. B blinked back into reality and smirked, not the least bit embarrassed to be caught staring and turned back towards the front of the classroom. He didn't even know what was going on, he'd stopped trying to listen to the voice of the teacher.
The teacher counted the students and frowned slightly, counting one extra than there was actually present. She looked around the room before spotting Beyond and walking up to his desk. B looked up and watched her walk over, opening his mouth to speak although he didn't know what to say. He threw a sideways glance at Light, hoping for backup. Light glanced up at her and quickly covered for him. "Ah, Rue Asahi. He recently transferred here and is staying with me." He explained to her. She smiled back in response and nodded, quickly writing it down in her roll.
Beyond nodded and smiled before looking down at the desk, rubbing the back of his neck until she walked back up to the front. The new last name would take some getting used to, he'd forgotten it before Light stepped in. "Sorry, it was the first thing that came to my head." Light explained quietly before the teacher called out that they were dismissed to their first class. B nodded, "That's alright." He stood from the desk and walking to the door to the classroom, waiting there for Light.
Light stood and collected his books, then followed Beyond to the door, a thought coming to his mind. "Oh, Mother bought your books last night, I saw them on the counter but forgot to grab them. You can use my notes when we get home, alright?" "Okay." Beyond walked out into the hallway and beside Light, "What class do we have now?" He asked while looking into random rooms. "Writing class." He yawned and stretched out his arms, smiling briefly at the raven.
"Ah, okay." B nodded and smiled, looking back over to Light. "This used to be my favorite class anyway." "Really?" Light looked at him curiously,"Why's that?" He asked. Beyond shrugged, "Besides art, writing is something I actually find enjoyment in. Well, if what I'm writing about is interesting." Light smiled softly, watching Beyond curiously as they walked to class."That's interesting. I believe we've got art today as well." B smiled, "Oh really? That'll be fun then... Do you like that class?"
Light lifted a hand to the back of his neck."I really can't draw.." He snickered. B chuckled, "Oh? I'm surprised. You seem like you could." The brunette shrugged his shoulders, "I guess I'm alright at it, I always get told I spend too much time doing details.." He murmured, chuckling lightly. "I can believe that." B smirked, "Perfectionist." Light flustered a bit, lightly shoving him in the shoulder. "Oh, shut up.." He grumbled. Beyond laughed, "It's true though." He ruffled Light's hair. "Hmph." Light huffed slightly and shook his head.
"Hey, it's admirable, really." Beyond smiled. "Admirable?" The younger questioned, raising a brow curiously and looking over at him as they reached their classroom. "Mhm." B nodded, "Having the motivation about everything to get the job done right, meanwhile when it comes to things like school I barely get it done correctly let alone perfect." In fact probably the only thing he tried hard to make perfect were connected to his victims. "Because you don't believe you can do better. Don't worry, I won't allow you to slack off." Light grinned slightly, moving to place his essay on the teachers desk before either was rudely snatched out of his hands. "Writing an essays on yourself, eh, Kira?" The voice of his ex-friend teased. Light's eyes automatically narrowed.
B opened his mouth to answer before they were interrupted. He raised an eyebrow, pretending not to know him. "Hey Raito, who's the asshole?" He nodded towards his ex friend and stuffed his hands in his pockets. "He's barely worth mentioning." Light muttered before smirking faintly at the other. "And of course. It never gets boring after all." The brunette merely scoffed and snatched his paper back, stalking off to a desk. Beyond blinked and looked the male up and down before following after Light. He noticed no one sat in the desk behind Light and took that seat.
Light pulled the Death Note from his back pocket and quickly scribbled his name down in his lap on a blank page, writing a time down after it and shoving it back into his pocket, glancing up at the clock which read 9:30am. "6 hours and 30 minutes.." He mumbled to himself with a slight smirk. B raised an eyebrow, hearing him mumble something and shove a black notebook in his back pocket. His eyes widened and he leaned closer, "Light, did you just do what I think you did?" He asked in a low voice. "He'll be gone in less than 7 hours.." Light murmured, smirking bitterly as he watched the said male wander around the classroom, showing off with one of his friends. Beyond sighed and leaned back in his seat, crossing his arms. If Light tried getting out of control again, he knew he could stop him, so he was calm about it.
"Don't pretend it isn't a good idea.. That bastard deserves it." Light muttered, glowering at him and leaned back in his own seat. "And you're right but if you start getting out of control again, I'm taking it away from you." Beyond spoke sternly. "Who are you, my mother?" The brunette scoffed, crossing his arms. "I won't. It's just.. him." "Yeah, I'm your mother." B rolled his eyes and shook his head. He sighed and leaned back in his seat.
Beyond looked down to the Death Note in Light's back pocket, tilting his head slightly. He knew what was coming and that Light was planning on writing more names. But what if Light went crazy with power again and Kira took over? He'd need to eliminate all criminals, and Beyond was a bad one.. What if he got on Light's bad side and he did something irrational in anger...
Light did want to write more names, it had become like an addiction to him. Kira, in his eyes, wasn't evil, Kira was still justice. And justice can't die. Therefore, he had to continue, whether he wrote a few names a week or hundreds. He had to continue, whether he told Beyond or not. Justice won't prevail until the notebook is full. Light chewed of his lip slowly, already thinking of his next move. He was just thankful that B never watched the news.
Beyond blinked and looked forward at the brunette in front of him. He poked Light's back with a pencil repeatedly, not because he needed to talk to him but just for entertainment. "Hm?" Light looked over his shoulder and mouthed, 'What?'. Beyond looked up to his face and was still for a moment before shaking his head and waving with a sweet smile. Light just rolled his eyes and laughed softly, turning back around to the front and jotting down the notes. He could hear his ex-friend muttering about them over the other side of the room.
B looked over at them, shrugging and shaking his head. It was funny how these students were actually a couple years younger than him. He tapped the pencil against the desk, exhaling and looking at the back of Light. Light eyed the boys across the room, watching one of them mouth the word 'Queer' at him before laughing. The brunette rolled his eyes, "Tch." Beyond heard him and raised an eyebrow, turning to see what Light looked at. He saw them laughing and mouthing the same word. B's eyes narrowed as he glared, he figured this would be so much more intimidating had he not been wearing icy blue contacts.
B leaned his head back against the seat, looking up at the ceiling. He eealized now how much they must piss Light off and actually wanted to hurt them himself, however the Death Note would take care of that. He sighed, next time he'd have to ask Light if he could get the job done himself...
