Hello! Soooo exams are coming up next week, luckily there are only two I actually have to study for (french and chemistry, though I am almost failing chemistry :S) so more chapters sooner maybe?
Alice Gone Madd- Me too! They are one of my favorite series :D The Blood of Olympus is coming out in the fall! YAY!
Jimmy 144- I'm afraid I don't know what the fray is :S
I do not own Transformers, Harry Potter, or Percy Jackson!
Kristy slowed to a walk. She wasn't much of a runner, not that she can't, she just doesn't like it. She checked the street signs to make sure she was on the right track, only 5 more minutes on foot to Alex's house. She set the bright yellow case on the sidewalk with a frustrated sigh. "Why couldn't Carmen just tell me how to work this thing?" she said while she inspected the outside of the case. If she didn't know better she would have thought it was a normal suitcase, other than the fact that it was warm and hummed slightly if you were to listen closely.
Kristy checked the handle, looking for a special button or switch. She checked the zipper, wheels, and everywhere else she could think of, giving the suitcase a full 'pat-down".
Grabbing the bright yellow box on wheels she stomped down sidewalk, her frustration building. "An instruction manual would have been really helpful... A car would be helpful too... I wish Ironhide were here." Images of the ship hurtling towards the ocean came to her, her eyes stinging. Having a hard exterior can be tough to keep when you lose one of your closest friends.
She was never good at making friends, keeping to herself even to the few she has now. In public school she would walk around by herself at recces, watching the other kids play jump rope or hopscotch, always alone. During class she never had that friend who would make funny faces at her during her presentation, or the one you make eye contact with when the teacher says to "pick a partner".
It was one day in 3rd grade that she was walking around when Carmen approached her, wanted her to come and play with her friends. Since then the two of them have always been together. Through high school they stuck with a certain group of friends, some slowly drifted away to other groups, some got into drugs, until it only left four. Kristy, Carmen, Alex, and Tasha. Of course they made new friends over the years, but not many. They never were the most popular of kids, always getting picked last in gym or keeping quiet during class discussions unless called upon by the teacher.
Though to Kristy, she felt as if she could never fit in or make new friends. The others, however, would do just fine without her. Alex with her humour and wit, Tasha being the pretty one with looks any girl would kill for, and Carmen being the child that was shy until she got comfortable around you. But Kristy? She often thought to herself "why would anyone want to hang around a short tempered ginger?" She burned easy, she wasn't good at sports, she wasn't pretty like a blond. She often wondered why the friends she had now stuck with her.
Shaking the thoughts from her head, Kristy marched on, determined not to lose any more of her friends that she still had. The suit case started to grow heavy in her arms so she sat down for a break. Her temper rising, she threw the yellow box away from her. "If you can turn into a jet-pack, why don't you just TRANSFORM already!?"
The suit case never hit the ground. Instead, it hovered a foot above the grass. A robotic voice of a woman echoed "voice authorization accepted." The case folded and turned until it was a sleek jet-pack. It looked more like a small silver backpack (straps and all) with bright yellow wings and boosters attached.
Kristy slowly got up, mumbling to herself "for fuck sake", walked over to the floating pack. A black earphone popped itself from the top of the pack, a light blinking blue for attention. She picked it up, inspected it a little, then put it around her hear. Instantly the earphone clamped itself around her ear and she jump as something pricked her behind her ear. Then she could hear a recording of someone tapping on a microphone, the voices slightly muffled.
"Testing, testing, une deux trois! Is it on?"
"Yes, yes it should be recording now."
"Oh! Ok! Uhhh hello there Kristy! It's meeee. If you are hearing this message then that means that Que and I have successfully made the jet-pack control system. And I shall be your instruction manual."
"She is gonna be pissed at you."
"Yeah yeah I know. You don't have to remind me, Ironhide. Anyway, this little device's name is MAGS; Mind Activated G.P.S System. That little prick you felt was the headphone honing in on your mind so you can control the jet-pack. That is why there are no controls so ONLY you can control it. It is also a G.P.S so if you ask it for directions it will tell you where to go! Like SIRI but instead say 'MAGS, find Tim Hortons' or whatever."
"For Primus sake, Carmen! You shouldn't be up at this hour! You need at LEAST eight hours of sleep for your human body to recover from a long day, if you go to sleep now you won't even reach four hours of sleep."
"Ok, ok in a minute. I need to finish this." A couple seconds of silence pass. "FINE! Put your ratchet away, Ratchet, please, I still have a bruise from yesterday..."
"You have three minutes to get to your room sound asleep."
"What!? OkKristygottagogoodluckhopethiswashelpfulforyouIknowyouarepissedatmefortheprickythingybutitisforthebestbye!"
With that the headphone was silent. She stood there for a moment, letting what she just heard sink in. "This better not be the one that exploded on her..." Kristy mumbled to herself. Quickly, she strapped the jet-pack onto her back just as she would a back pack for school.
It took her a few tries to get even a meter off the ground, at first only lifting a little and fall back on her butt, but eventually she was hovering, and then soaring through the sky towards Alex's house.
OoOoOoOo
Alex sat on her bed, her feet dangling over the sides as she played a game of Grand Theft Auto. Her room was small, the bet to the side and the TV at the foot of her bed. A door to the left and ALL the walls covered with Harry Potter posters. Suddenly, a yell and a thud outside her window broke her concentration from the game.
OoOoOoOo
Tasha sat in front of a mirror, straightening her dirty blond hair. She had her bedroom window open allowing a nice breeze to blow through. He room was covered in zebra print and X-Men posters. She had just finished babysitting her little sister. Yelling was then heard from outside. She chose to ignore it until two of her friends burst through the window, tumbling onto the floor. Kristy sported a yellow jet-pack while Alex rolled off of Kristy. Tasha let out a squeak, clutching her straighter, but then let it go because it was burning her hand. She looked back at her friends to find them both standing, Alex taking deep breaths while leaning against the wall and Kristy scratching at a headphone on her ear.
"What just-?" Tasha started, then got interrupted by Alex who put hand up, motioning her to be quiet before she stood up straight. Her face was ghostly white compared to her black hair and sweater.
Still taking deep breaths she simply said, "This bitch... can fly..."
Kristy just shrugged and said "yepp" for a reply.
Tasha was still greatly confused. "Can someone tell me what is going on!?" she said.
Kristy shrugged the jet-pack off only for it to fall, and then hover a foot above the floor and follow her like a puppy. She sat on Tasha's bed, grabbed the bright yellow thing, and began unpacking some fancy objects none of them have seen before. Alex and Tasha slowly joined her, both for different reasons. Tasha being curious of the objects, and Alex from trying not to hurl all over her friends zebra print room. Flying was not her first choice of travel.
Done! It is short but I need to go study. My first exam is on June 17th, and I'm sure we all know how fast time flies when you type up a chapter.
Thank you all for reading! Finally I feel like this story is going somewhere. I hope you enjoyed this chapter :) Don't be afraid to review, hearing from you all makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :3
Good day/night! :D
One last thing! Tomorrow is Friday the 13th so watch out XD and keep an eye out for tonight's "honey moon" :D It is bound to be pretty :3
And the sun had two huge solar flares a couple days (?) ago. Apparently tomorrow is when they will hit earth. So if your phone service is acting up or your wifi is being messy, any technological issues really, you can blame our silly little star.
