So, it's been a while guys! I am so sorry for not updating, it's just I haven't found it in me to write lately. I've started college and a new job, plus my life hasn't been going great in some aspects so I've been to emotionally drained to write anything worth reading, but I finally did it. I finished chapter 25!
It may take me while for the next chapter but I promise you I haven't forgotten about this story or my other one! They will be finished, I'm just not sure on the timing!
I also got a new version of Microsoft word, which is so much better than my last one (god that thing made me want to cry) so hopefully mu mistakes are minimized, though I doubt it's perfect. I just don't have the time to proof read! I wish I did!
I hope you all enjoy the latest chapter and don't hesitate to message me if you have any suggestions or ideas for the story. Even if you think it's a mess, let me know!
Disclaimer: I do not won Fairy Tail, much to my dismay! That's Hiro Mashima's wonderful brain!
Chapter 25
Earth
Lucy P.O.V
"Right, is everyone ready?" Erza asks, standing to my right. We all nod and she turns to me, expression determined. I pick up a glint of curiosity in her eyes, and I know she's wondering about what I'm about to do as much as everyone else, even if she puts on a professional look.
"Adan, can you stand in front of me please?" The earth guardian nods and makes his way over, stopping just in front of me. If I wanted to, I could lift my hands to place them on his shoulders. "I'm not sure how to do this, so you're going to have to keep me on track."
"Of course, Lucy. Do you have somewhere to put the charms?" he asks, grinning. I hold up my wrist with a nod, letting the sunlight dance off the bracelet that hangs there. "Good. Now we have to meld powers. It could hurt, thought I can't be sure, since I've never done this before. Just hold up your hands and join them to mine."
We join hands, our arms lifted so that our hands. Nothing happens. I begin to frown, scared that it was all a mistake and I was never meant to do this. Adan looks worried, staring at out linked hands. The time lengthens. Our frowns deepen. Nothing. I start to pull away, my eyes start to sting with tears.
The jolt of pain pulls me back, keeping my hands in his. I glance up at him for explanation -maybe he pulled me back- but he stares back with mild shock on his face. Clearly it wasn't him that caused that. The pain becomes more constant, tiny needles of pain turning to arrows. My hold body hums as if it has electricity coursing through it. My knees weak, I begin to sag but Adan holds me up, his hands strong.
It seems like an age before the pain lessens. It remains, only becomes a background to the heat that replaces it. It begins in my fingertips, spreading up my arms and through my body. I look down at my hands, expecting flames. My hands are untouched, though they feel like they should be burning. This is weird.
"Well, this is interesting," Adan jokes, though his eyes are wide and staring.
"Y-yeah," I stammer, looking up at him. He grins slightly and shakes his head.
"Never a dull moment with you, Princess, is there?"
"You would be bored without me," I laugh, ignoring the heat.
Suddenly, Adan's tattoo's flare with light, then everything goes black.
I don't know how long I'm out but when I wake I'm on my back, one of my hands still clutched in Adan's who lies on his side to my left. I sit up, taking him with me and stare at him. I can hear the others shouting our names but they don't come any closer. I look up and see why. I barrier made of golden light surrounds us keeping them away.
Suddenly the heat from our joined hands pulses, sending a wave through my body starting from my hand that is in his. Again it pulses, then again, repeating over and over. Strength shoots through me, causing me to sit up straighter. The it stops.
I stare blankly at our hands, head tilted to the side. That can't be it, can it? I look up at Adan and he look equally confused. No help from him then. I pull my hands away and this time, the power lets me.
I step back and grin up at him, while he grins back, his teeth flashing. I turn to the others, seeing the barrier has gone. They all state back, eyes wide.
"How can you tell if it's worked?" Levy asks, stepping forward.
"I don't know," I say cautiously. "How long was I out?"
"The whole day," Natsu says, his voice tight. "We couldn't get to you, because of the barrier. We thought you where dead."
"I'm fine," I say walking over to him and placing a hand on his shoulder. He looks at me, dark eyes staring into mine. I blush slightly as he keeps staring. "No harm done Natsu."
He wraps his arms around me and pulls me to him. I bury my face in his chest, letting his warmth spread through me. He's shaking slightly, causing me to frown. Was he really that worried?
"Hey, it'll be okay," I whisper, pulling back to look at him. He shakes his head and buries his face on my neck.
"Don't ever do that to me again," he whispers, his breath tickling my ear.
"I have to do it three more times Natsu," I say, running my hands through his hair. "I'll be fine, it didn't hurt."
"Positive?" He asks, pulling back. I think about the pain I felt, the heat coursing though me and nod. I can't tell him about all that, he would worry too much.
"Are you both done?" Gajeel says, walking over. I blush and step away from Natsu, though he takes my hand quickly.
"Shut up, metal head," Natsu snaps, his finger clutched in mine.
"What ever, pinkie," the black hair man grumbles. "Erza says it's time to make camp and sleep."
When we woke up this morning, we moved camp. Now we deep in the forest, in an area filled with rocks. We thought it would be best, since I was connecting with the earth guardian.
"Lucy?" I turn around and see Adan standing behind me. He takes my hand, the one Natsu isn't holding, and places something in it. "You'll need this."
In my palm sits a small crystal dagger, attached to a small clasp the same colour as my bracelet. The dagger it's self is crystal and only a little bigger than my thumb nail. I let go of Natsu's hand, ignoring the sinking feeling in my stomach as I do, and pick the dagger up. I clip it to the bracelet, holding my wrist up to eye level.
"It's so pretty," Levy whispers, walking up beside me. I let me hand drop and Natsu finds it again, holding on tight.
"Adan, call out the others," I say, trying to not look at Natsu.
"The others?" the pink haired boy asked.
"The spirits of earth," Adan answers, taking a few steps back, away from me. "Open, Gates of Capricorn, Virgo and Taurus!"
In a blinding light, the three spirits appear in a row in between Adan and myself. The bow, first to Adan and the to myself, before looking about. I step forward, bowing to them and smiling.
"If it would be okay with you all, I would like to form a contract," I say, looking at each in turn. " I promise to stand by your side in battle and treat you with the respect you deserve. You will be my nakama just like everyone you see around us."
"I would love to protect Lucy's body!" Taurus yells, staring at me….well at my chest. Natsu wraps an arm around my shoulder, glaring at the spirit and a bite back a grin.
"Thank you, Taurus."
"We would also like to protect you, Princess," Virgo says, bowing to me, the chain around her wrists clanking. Capricorn nods, the glasses on his face glinting.
"Thank you both so much," I say, stepping forward until I have a step away from them. The each hold out a hand and I mimic them, feeling the small charms drop into my palm. Three round stones, each a different shade of green, glisten on my hand. I connect them all to the bracelet around my wrist, next to Adan's charm.
"Thank you all," I say, looking at the three spirits and Adan. "With your help, I think we can beat Zeref."
"I know we can," Natsu says. He's come to stand right behind me again, so I can feel his breath on the back of my neck. It sends a shiver down my spine and I fight a blush.
"The pink haired one is right," Capricorn says, speaking for the first time since his arrival. "We can win the war."
"I wouldn't go so far as to call his war," I squeak, eyes widening.
"It might come to that Lucy," Erza says, brushing a lock of red hair away. I nod, looking at the ground. Our people haven't had a war in over one hundred years, why did this have to happen?
"We will leave you know," Capricorn says, before he disappears along with Virgo and Taurus, who gives me a wink. I shiver. Weird cow thing.
"Well that was eventful," Gajeel grumbles, breaking the silence. He pushes away from the tree he was leaning on and walks over. "Can we eat now?"
"We forgot to eat lunch!" Natsu shouts, dropping to his knees and clutching is stomach. "I feel so empty."
"Calm down, Natsu, it's not the end of the world," I laugh, kneeling down beside him. "We can eat a huge meal now, how about that?"
"Really?" he asks, looking up. His eyes shine with hope and for a moment I forget what I was talking about. All I can see are his eyes. "Luce?"
"E-em, y-yeah, re-really…" I stutter, blushing. Damn it, I need to stop that!
"Yosh!" he shouts, jumping up and dragging my with him. I stumble, falling forward, only to be caught quickly by the reason I'm falling. In more ways than one. "Sorry Luce!"
"It's okay," I grumble, righting myself. "Let's go eat."
It's only twenty minutes later that we all sit around the fire, eating fish (caught by Erza), stewed apples (found my Lisanna) and rice (which was brought with us). Not an amazing meal like I hoped but still edible and still filling. Natsu bolts down his portion and half of mine.
"I wasn't that hungry anyway," I say, after he apologies for the tenth time. And I wasn't. I can barely think of food, my whole body is buzzing with energy and it doesn't feel normal. It feel's sort of…magic.
"You okay, Princess?" Kai asks, flopping down beside me. Anila perches on his other side, the markings on her shoulders and collar bone shimmering in the fire light.
"Yeah, I just feel slightly, I don't know, buzzed I guess," I say, waving my hands around trying to explain the feeling.
"It's the magic you took in," Aine says, sitting behind me. "You're body is getting used to it, since it's never had to before. What you're feeling is the magic flowing along your blood stream and into every part of your body. It'll stop in about an hour I would guess."
"Did this happen to you?"
"To all of us, after we became what we are," Kai answer me, nodding his head. "Aine right, an hour should do it."
"Then I'll be back to normal?" I ask, turning to look at all four of the guardians who surround me.
"Define normal?" Adan quips, sending a wave of laughter through the whole group. I laugh along with everyone, content to be just where I am.
Natsu P.O.V
I don't really get it. Her ability to seem to happy and carefree, when everything seems to be crashing down around us. So much has happened and my brain can barely wrap around it all. Hell, I don't think it can wrap around it at all. But there she is, always smiling, always having the right thing to say, always there for me. I need to be there for her.
I need to tell her the truth.
Levy P.O.V
Lucy will never fail to amazing me. She's always the ray of light when it's dark, the hope in the midst of all this heartache and madness. She outshines everyone, yet she never makes you jealous of her. At least not in a mean way. She's too nice for you to hate her.
I'm jealous sure, but I could never hate her for it. I love her too much for that to even happen.
I should probably tell her that.
Gray P.O.V
Even though I have Juvia and I couldn't be more happy, I still envy Natsu. It's obvious that Lucy loves him. The guy got it lucky, I'll give him that.
But also, Lucy helped me notice how I felt about Juvia. She's always been there for me, my best friend through the years. She's seen me at my worst and at my best. And even though she never fell in love with me, she still loves me no matter what.
I feel the same way about her. I should tell her. Just in case this ends badly.
Juvia P.O.V
Juvia will never forget Lucy, not as long as she lives. She has been a constant guide and companion to Juvia. Juvia loves her with all her heart and she will never stop.
Lucy is Juvia's sister, no matter the difference in parents. Juvia should tell her, before it's too late.
Normal P.O.V
Everyone watched Lucy that night, as if seeing her in a different way. They watched her smile and laugh, remembering their first encounters with the blonde. No one could fault her and no one could think of a better Princess for their country.
Jellal remembered teaching her about the old magic, a secret they hid from her father. Gajeel remembered the fights they where in, no matter how playful and teasing they where. Erza remembered Lucy baking her a cake to welcome her to the army, back when they where much younger and innocent. Lisanna and Elfman remembered playing with a little Lucy, her pink dresses the envy of the white hair girl and the courage awing the boy.
They all loved her, that much was certain.
And there we go! Chapter 25!
It's not 1 in the morning and I have college tomorrow, so bed time for me! R&R and let me know what you thought!
Till next time! Thanks for reading! ^^
