A walk in the park
Chapter 3
"Uh Simon? Did ya hear me?" Simon was sweating, he had heard Alvin perfectly but was unable process it.
"How could i forget the big thunderstorm that's coming. Dave will never put me in charge again! What if…" Simon's mind was running wild
"Si you alright?" Alvin's words were almost muffled to Simon.
Without a word Simon ran to the window
Looking for storm clouds. "(Sigh) no Cumulonimbus." Simon said relieved,
"Could you speak English for once?" Alvin said dumbfounded.
"It is English"
"You know what I mean!" Alvin said, a little annoyed. "So, what about the storm?"
"It's not here yet, it'll probably be a few hours. But I'd better alert the girls…"
"Good idea" Alvin Said
Simon ran to the phone to call Jeanette and Eleanor, dialed the number… straight to voice-mail. "Damn it! They must have gone too far in by now. What're we supposed to do?" Simon said, sweating again.
"Relax bro, by the time that storm makes it to the forest the girls will be long gone and on their way home." Alvin didn't seem worried much to Simon's shock,
"How are you not worried!?" Simon asked frustrated
"Because they can handle themselves, Jeanette is smart enough to get out of any trouble and Elea–"
"What if they don't come back!?" Simon interrupted,
"that won't happen, trust me." Alvin reassured his brother.
"I hope you're right" Simon replied looking at the window.
Back in the forest Jeanette and Eleanor were enjoying their hike. Even though she was against it from the start she was beginning to warm up to wilderness, she had even completely forgotten the dangers of it.
"You know Eleanor… I really didn't want to come here but, this is actually pretty nice. Getting a break from all the music and party's. Just nature!"
Eleanor was happy to see her sister have fun.
"Glad you're having fun for once, always concerned with safety, never stopping to enjoy what's around you!"
Jeanette wished she could pick some of the flowers but due being half the size of them… she was restricted to smelling.
"Hey sis what was that on the phone?"
"What are you talking about?"
Jeanette asked knowing exactly what her sister was talking about.
"You know! What you said to Simon!"
"I have no idea what you're talking about." Jeanette tried her best to hide it, but it was useless
"You said you loved him!"
"Oh… that! How could I forget? Ha ha…" Jeanette said nervously.
"So?"
" I didn't mean to say that out loud, but I do kind of like him."
Jeanette said, hiding her smile, "Aha! I knew it!"
Eleanor said triumphantly "You knew?!" Of course I knew! Brit knows too, You weren't doing a good job hiding it…"
Jeanette looked a little embarrassed, "(gasp) do you think Simon figured it out?!" Jeanette said,
"I don't think so, he gets so shy when he's around you I don't think he'd notice."
Jeanette's eyes got wide but she didn't say anything. Eleanor got tired of waiting for a reply
"take him out to dinner!"
"What!?" Jeanette jumped, very surprised by the mere thought of something so romantic.
"(Laughs) he's clearly the one for you! You have to do it. He's obviously too shy to even think about something like that. But you were bold enough to say you loved him."
"That was an accident!" Jeanette said nervously.
"But you meant it!" Eleanor fired back "but What if he rejects me?"
"That might happen but It'd be better than not knowing what would happen for the rest of your life."
There was a long pause before Eleanor again broke the ice " So will you do it?" Um, I…"
Before Jeanette could answer she was cut off by a noise, it sounded very far away but there was no mistaking what it was… A howl.
