KitKat.

Leo swings his sword to teleport to finish off an enemy. He blinks in confusion when his teleportation magic flickers before stopping. He instead crashes into the enemy who grabs him tossing him away. He almost lands harshly on the ground before back flipping to land on his feet.

Raph charges in slamming a punch into the enemy finishing the job for Leo.

The large minotaur like enemy falls back unconscious.

Leo straightens as his brothers hurry over to him.

"Are you okay?" Raph questions looking so worried for his brother.

"I'm fine." Leo assures them and glances to his sword. His eyes worried and confused. "The teleportation just suddenly stopped working." He doesn't understand what is going on.

Mikey gulps audibly at the confirmation of what they had seen. "It's just like what happened with Raph last week. What if the magics disappearing?"

Raph shifts nervously wondering what is going on.

"Raphs abilities came back just fine without issues." Donnie points out playing on his phone at this point. He is typing away as if taking notes most likely on the situation. "It'll likely happen to Leo as well. It should be fine. Perhaps magic is like how machines have glitches sometimes. If it happens a third time we can look into it more."

"You really think it's just glitches?" Leo questions causing Donnie to pause to glance to his brother.

"That. Or the magic really is fading like Mikey said." Donnie points out worrying his brothers. He glances around to their worried faces. "I wouldn't worry too much. Leo's magic will likely come back just fine. Like Raphs did."

"I think that we should look into it. If it does happen again it could put one of us in a seriously bad spot." Raph points out while pointedly looking at Donnie. "I'd rather we know for sure before anything bad happens to any of us. If it's just glitches we will work around them to figure out plans for when it happens. If it's something worse like the magic fading then it's best we get on it right away."

"Alright." Donnie decides to help ease is brothers worry. He himself still isn't all that worried. He still believes that it's probably just some glitching. He almost wonders if he could find a way to help fix the glitches to try to stop them. "We can run some tests back in the lair. Maybe see if it ends up happening again. Lets get back before sensei worries about us being gone." He mentions Splinter to which the other three nod in agreement.

They all begin their journey home with none of them noticing a figure in the shadows.

The figure watches them for a few moments before moving away further into the shadows. "It's getting worse. I may be running out of time." Said figure disappearing completely.

For the second day in a row the other three are in Donnies lab trying to test things.

Mikey strikes at a target swinging for another one. His weapon falters before its power disappearing.

Donnie writes this down with a sigh. "Something is really going on. I made a machine to scan the power of each weapon. Let me try it out now." He heads off further into his lab before returning wheeling a machine. He stops it flicking on a few switches. "Leo. Can I borrow your sword?" He is handed the item carefully placing it into the slight copy machine like part. He works on a computer screen as the machine scans the sword with a light. "Okay. Now let's switch it out with Mikeys."

That is quickly done so and they wait for the results.

"There is a drop in magical power to the weapons. Somehow Leo your swords magic levels are close to Mikeys. Even though he just had an issue." Donnie explains rereading the data he's been given. "This isn't good. This can't keep up. Raph lets try yours. I wanna see if your levels are what is expected." He waits until things are changed up. He does the scan only to frown. He looks to the worried faces of his brothers. "The magic is fading and we have no idea why." He shares with them as their eyes widen at the news. He doesn't know what to do. He has no idea how to fix magical weapons, let alone find or supply them with the magic that they might need.

"There has to be a way to find out why the magic is dying!" Mikey pleads with worried tearful eyes. "The magic can't be going away!"

"I'm not really sure what we can do about it." Donnie explains to the three. "We don't really have the expertise to even try to fix what's going on with it."

"Maybe there's some way to recharge them." Leo tries hopeful that they'll think of something.

"We could try not using them for a bit then see if they've recharged." Raph seems to actually side with Leo on the idea.

"I doubt it'll do anything. If that's so then it should have shown some kind of progress. Yet the results are so low that I feel like it's getting worse. Even though we don't have a baseline to start with that'd show us normal rates. All the weapons are around the same area as Mikeys when his got the same issue. The same one Leo and Raph have both experienced. If it does need to recharge it probably also needs more magic. Which I doubt any of us knows where to get that."

The other three glancing away confirms this.

"So what do we do now?" Mikeys question is hesitant and his gaze turns to Leo and Raph. His eyes sparkling with a mixture of worry yet a spark of hope that everything will be figured out.

Leo and Raph look to one another not actually sure what to say. Neither can even come up with a single idea of what to do.

Raph is the first to turn away to look to the other two. "I'm not sure. We might just have to go about normally until we can figure out more about whats going on." He suggests and the other three nod as they have nothing better to offer.

Splinter coming in to check on them especially seeing the looks on their faces. "What is going on in here?" He questions now worried that he's missing something important. "You're not leaving me out of something important are you?"

Raph and Leo take turns explaining their findings to Splinter. A few points even slightly talking over each other, at least before one of them quiets down to let the other talk.

Splinter blinks and looks to the weapons. "Magic fading... I hardly know anything about magic. So I can't offer up any advice on that end. Perhaps you all should consider training without the magic. Using regular weapons in battle." He wishes he knew more to be able to help his sons further in this. He knows how well they have gotten to wielding their magic. He does hope that there is a way, however he also has to make sure they remember reality.

If they lose their magic then they'll have to fight with regular weapons instead. So it could be a good idea to prepare for such a thing to happen.

"The issue is regular weapons don't do what we need to take down enemies. They snap and break. At least a lot more easily than our current ones." Donnie points out letting his eyes meet with Splinters own.

"You could probably still use the weapons with or without magic." Splinter points out and three silently agree that he does have a point. "Whatever is going on we'll figure it out. At some point we will figure it out. We, even if it's just you four, always tend to figure it out." He points out to which the four can't help but smile, knowing that he's right on that.

They just hope that they'll figure it out before they potentially lose their magic.

...

Michelangelo blinks as Klunk nuzzles his head with a loud meow. He yawns sleepily and raises his head. "What is it?" He blinks at his alarm clock to see through the blur of his sleepiness. "It's so early." He groans at seeing its seven thirty am. He turns back to the cat as said pet meows once more. "What in the world has gotten into you?"

Klunk hops off the bed walking in worried circles meowing.

Michelangelo sits up fully and rubs the sleep from his eyes. "Seriously Klunk. What's gotten you all upset." He lowers his hands opening his eyes. He glances around trying to find anything out of place. He doesn't see anything so he turns back to the cat. He gets up only for his pet to start weaving around his feet. He can tell that the small animal is doing so in a way to get comfort. He bends down picking the cat up holding the animal close. "You're really acting weird today Klunk." He points out petting the cat in his favourite spot behind the ear. "I don't really understand what's gotten you so worked up." He decides to head out of his room to see if it's out there. He puts the cat down just before heading out of his room. He takes a look around from just outside of his room. He still sees nothing out of the ordinary. He gets an idea and goes to Raphaels room. He knocks on the door to which after a moment it opens.

Raphael is standing there looking slightly annoyed yet slightly worried. "What the hell are you doing up so early?" He questions Michelangelo who stands before him.

"Klunk started acting pretty weird. Like he's worried about something but there's nothing around." Michelangelo notices his brothers face shift more towards more worry. "I was wondering if Spike happened to be doing something similar."

Raphael heads further into his room gesturing for his brother to follow.

Michelangelo does and the two get to Spikes tank. He looks into it seeing Spike pacing seemingly looking around.

"Spike seems worried about something too." Raphael points out to which Michelangelo feels his heart sink in worry. "But I've checked and there's nothing to worry over."

Before either of them can say anything else the power flickers a little, very visibly, before returning to normal. They glance to the light in the room wondering what was that.

"Don!" Leonardo's voice calls from elsewhere in the home heard by all.

Michelangelo and Raphael poke their heads out of the room to listen in.

Leonardo is peering out from the entrance to the kitchen looking for Donatello.

Donatello exits his room with a slight yawn before seeing Leonardo stare at him. "What?" He questions as he must have just woken up.

"The power flickered. It really should be checked out." Leonardo informs their brother who blinks in confusion.

"That shouldn't happen." Donatello places a hand on his chin thoughtfully. "The power we rerouted shouldn't have any sort of issues. Unless the city is having issues. But if there was an issue it would have been a blackout. Not just flickering."

"Then it is best we figure out what the problem is." Master Splinter steps out of his bedroom as the door is wide open. He looks to Donatello who turns to him. "If there is some other kind of issue it'd be in our best interests to figure it out."

Michelangelo exits Raphael's room and approaches Donatello. "Say. Dee?" He question to the other who turns to him in surprise.

"Mike? What are you doing up so early?" Donatello questions blinking at the youngest.

"Klunk was acting weird. He was meowing and trying to get me up like he was worried. But there was nothing around. I was wondering if you could help me figure out what's going on with him." Michelangelo explains to which Raphael steps out.

"Spike is pacing looking worried. Just not at anything in particular." Raphael adds which causes Master Splinter to look concerned.

Master Splinter hums softly in thought to this. "Perhaps there is more to this than we think." His words cause them all to look at him. "Everyone meets me in the dojo now. We'll worry about breakfast afterwards."

Worriedly they all do as they're told. Soon enough they're kneeling side by side facing a kneeling Master Splinter.

"With Klunk and Spike both acting off on the same morning I believe something is off." Master Splinter begins as the four listen to what he has to say. "What it is I cannot be certain. However I highly doubt that it is anything good."

"How are we supposed to fix it if we don't know what's wrong sensei?" Donatello inquires and Master Splinter tilts his head downwards.

"That is the question my son." Master Splinter tells him staring at a spot on the floor. His eyes slightly narrowed in thoughtfulness. "How can we fix something we don't even know anything about?" He repeats the question before allowing himself to think on it a little. He finally answers after a good pause. "I want you all to do a sweep of the city. Look for anything strange. Perhaps there is a clue somewhere. I will go to the spirit realm. To see if I can find anything out of the ordinary. There's no guarantee that there'll be anything however everything is worth a try right now. We cannot be careless and potentially miss something. So make sure you all have a good breakfast this morning."

The turtles nod then leave to have breakfast when Master Splinter dismisses them. They hope that they'll find something out there that'll tell them what's wrong.

Master Splinter waits until he hears his four sons leaving to go topside. He settles on a mat in the dojo closing his eyes to meditate. He focuses letting it lead him to the spirit realm. He opens his eyes to glance around. He blinks at seeing spirits having parts of them shimmering like water rinsing something off. He looks around trying to figure out what's going on. He sees a spirit crumble away.

The others don't look surprised though they do look scared and worried.

"What's going on here?" Master Splinter questions gaining the attention of a few spirits.

"We're falling apart." A nearby spirit informs Master Splinter who turns to him. He is a human scientist who looks so scared. He doesn't seem scared of Splinter. "Our ability to watch over the living has been having issues." His words kind of explaining why Splinter isn't much of a surprise here. "Our bodies are going too. Something is wrong and we can feel it. It's not just affecting our side, but the living side as well. We've seen it's affects popping up on the living world."

"Are you able to tell what it is?" Splinter inquires feeling himself get tugged away. He firmly plants his feet down to stay. He isn't sure why he's being pulled out now, perhaps due to whatever is making things bad here. He gets a shake of the head in response.

"All we know is neither the dead nor living worlds feel stable anymore. Whatever is going on it's big and powerful. Our side is feeling it a lot more for sure. Though it's probably only a matter of time before the living side feels it stronger too." The spirit tells Master Splinter and blinks pleadingly at him. "You're still alive right? Please. Find what's making things become unstable. Before all of us disappear." He pleads with hopefulness in his gaze to the mutant.

"I will do my best." Master Splinter informs the spirit before he is taken back to the living world. He glances around the dojo confirming that he is back. He glances down remembering what he had heard and seen. "What could cause even the spirit realm to be affected in such a way? The world being unstable? Is there even a way to fix something like that?" He stops himself as he tries to think it over silently in his head. He isn't sure where to even start to try to find what's making the balance of the world unstable. He wouldn't even know how to fix things if he did find out. He tries meditating on it for awhile to try to think of something. He gets up when the four return. He steps out to greet them.

The result of the city sweep is written across their faces. They didn't find anything out of the ordinary.

"That is alright my sons. I have gotten some information. Not much unfortunately." Master Splinters words perk interest in the four. "The spirit realm is being hit with something trying to vanish the spirits. According to them the world, on both alive and dead, has become unstable. It's worse in the spirit realm. Though it is affecting our side as well."

"How is that possible?" Donatello scratches his head as he tries to figure it out. "This is reality. So would everything not exist if this unstableness were to get worse?"

"I do believe that is very likely." Master Splinter confirms to the four who look very concerned about this. "Though what we can do about this situation is something we should focus on. Before it really does become a big problem for us."

The four nod their heads in agreement, as the sound of things going bad isn't a very pleasant one. They just need to figure out where to even start.

"Where do we even start figuring this out Sensei?" Michelangelo speaks up blinking at Master Splinter.

"That is a difficult question Michelangelo." Master Splinter admits worrying the four that he doesn't even know. "As far as I know nothing like this has ever happened before. The world is huge and there is a number of places this could be coming from. Perhaps if we could find where it's coming from on our end. Then we might be able to work from there. Before things do get worse."

Donatello blinks as he thinks of something thanks to what Master Splinter had said. "I could try to make a device that could scan for irregularities." He offers gaining attention to him. "I mean I already have a few scanning devices. I could maybe use one to upgrade. See what might come up."

"A very good idea." Master Splinter nods his head. "Donatello will begin work on this at once. The rest of you will keep your eyes open for anything strange. We may have to wait until Donatello can scan for where the unstableness is coming through."

Everyone nods understanding their roles in this.

All just hoping that there is some way to fix things.

Awhile later...

Donatello is working hard on the scanning device. He is putting his full focus on it, and the others are leaving him alone. He knows he'll definitely need to upgrades it power, plus it's memory capacity, before he can figure out how to get it to scan everything at once. He is currently installing a supply of more power. He doesn't let his mind wander as he focuses on this. He finishes just as a he hears a knock. He turns and Michelangelo pokes his head inside. "Mikey? Did something come up?"

"I'm just here to bring your dinner." Michelangelo comes in fully carrying a plate of food. "Leo and Splinter both said I have to make sure you eat this. That as important as this is, you're health is still very important."

"I kind of expected a response like that. Especially from them." Donnie admits putting down what he was using. He turns to see what Michelangelo has brought him today. He sees that todays dinner is macaroni and veggies mixed with melted cheese. He can even see some spices thrown in to help give it more flavour. "Looks good." He admits pulling the plate closer to himself.

"Splinter made it. He says that everyone needs to eat good to prepare for whatever happens. Though I did ask him if we could have macaroni and he said sure. So this is what he came up with." Michelangelo tells Donatello who begins to eat the food.

The two are quiet for a few moments until Donatello finishes his food.

Michelangelo doesn't take the plate away right away. He reaches over rubbing his upper left arm with his right hand. His gaze looking away as his head slightly tilts away as well. "Donnie. Do you really think that there's a way to stop this?"

Donatello looks to Michelangelo with a soft look. He knows he's being asked since he is the genius of the family. "Whatever is making the world unstable does have an explanation. Once we know why then we can narrow down what to do in order to fix it. It won't be easy however there is a way."

Michelangelo relaxes and nods looking relieved. His hand even dropping off of his arm. "That is so good to hear." He gently takes the empty plate from where Donatello is working. "Thank you Dee. I'll let you get back to work." He heads off with that with some energy returning to his step.

Donatello turns back to his work. He decides he'll get as much as he can done before he's dragged off to bed. He can't be sure who it'll be, however one of them will bee in charge of making sure he sleeps. He does hope that he can finish this in time before the unstableness gets worse.

It'll be a much easier fix if they catch it as early as possible. The worse it becomes the harder it'll be to fix. And that could pose a serious problem if they let things get too bad.
