Rory Williams, Roranicus Pondicus, the Last Centurion, the boy who waited.…

The afterthought.

That's what he really was. Forgotten, overlooked and sidelined. Even by his own wife, sometimes even more by her. But when people saw him and I mean really saw him, they wondered why.

He had the kind of face that people looked over, that is until she saw his eyes. His ancient, sad eyes full of stories no-one's really heard. They made her wonder what he's ever done to have eyes like that. He looks to be in his mid-twenties, with no wounds or scars. Can't have been a soldier, she thinks. So she asks; "I'm a nurse" he says with a smile, "do you need some help?" She shakes her head, wondering what made her ask. " Sorry to bother you" she mumbles, "Don't worry about it" he says, "See you around" she says, he smiles again. "See you around"

Rory watched as the young woman walked away. He'd been having a bad day, a day where all the memories of those two thousand years were all trying to be heard. Those days hurt and he wished they would stop, yet at the same time he didn't know what he'd do if they did. He knew people could tell when these days happened. The Doctor wouldn't stop looking at him, worry written all over his face. And Amy would tell him to sit, bringing him tea and sitting with him. He never told her the stories on those days. Instead, they just sat in silence, her presence a reminder that all those years meant something. Yet it was only those days that people ever remembered what had happened to him. They took those years for granted. But sometimes a stranger would see, and wonder about the young man with the kindest, saddest, oldest eyes they'd ever seen.

Well that was entirely different to what I thought it'd be. I'm not really sure if it even makes sense, but I hope someone likes it. It was inspired by what Ganger Jenny said in The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People, about how Rory had kind eyes. Made me think how sad his eyes are too. Anyway, if you liked it,please feel free to review and also any suggestions for other stories would be greatly appreciated xx
