Chapter 3: Toby's Plan

Emily was careful to get back to the safe house where Alison had been staying. After seeing Toby in such a state, she worried about what he was capable of. He had already killed two of Tanner's employees, who knows who's next on his list. Emily wants more than anything to see Tanner's whole operation go down in flames, but she does not approve of killing them. How is that any better than what they've done to "witches?" What's worse is knowing that if Spencer were around to see Toby like this it would break her heart. Emily understands that right now Toby is so blinded by grief and anger that he is just not thinking clearly. It's been a year since Spencer's passing and things are still tense. Not just for Toby. For everyone. Spencer was Alison's sister, so losing her had put Alison in a deep depression. She's become distant. Sheltered herself away from the world. Alison refused to speak to Hanna Marin. Although Hanna was a loyal friend to the group, it was her boyfriend Caleb that turned Spencer in for execution. It was a betrayal so deep that even Alison couldn't forgive Hanna.

Emily returned with food. Alison had lost a lot of weight this past year. Emily did everything she could to make sure Alison was taken care of. Fed, protected, and stayed healthy. Alison had been improving these last couple of months, but Emily knew she was still hurting.

"I got your favorite," Emily said.

Alison was sitting on a chair staring out of a tiny, tinted window. She watched the rain streaming down the glass like teardrops on her face.

Alison cleared her throat and said, "I'm not very hungry right now, but thank you."

Emily sighed and set the bags on the kitchen table. She removed her jacket then draped it over the back of a chair.

"I saw Toby today," Emily said.

Alison snapped her head in Emily's direction. "You found him?"

"My dad did. He had been tracking Toby after I asked for his help," said Emily. "Toby's been on a man hunt. He killed Noel last year after Spencer's funeral. Then he killed his brother a month later. He went dark. Radio silent. Then he finally emerged only to kidnap Lucas. Toby was finally caught outside a burning house. He's in Radley now."

"Radley?" Alison foreword her brow. "Why is he there? He didn't do anything wrong."

Emily tilted her head, "did you hear what I said? He killed two people."

"Noel Kahn killed Spencer and his brother killed our other sister Melissa!" Alison shouted. "Toby had every reason for doing what he did." Alison tore her gaze away from Emily back towards the window.

"Don't you start thinking that way to," Emily said. She took a seat in a chair closest to Alison. "I get you're hurting. I understand Toby's pain, but murder is not that answer."

"Try telling that to Tanner and all those other freaks going around still killing innocence!" Alison snapped. "At least Toby has the balls to do something about it. He's fighting back. We should be too."

"If we stoop to their level than all that does is prove to the rest of the world that we're monsters."

"Emily, you don't get it," Alison said. She turned her whole body towards Emily. "You may be like us, but you didn't grow up like us. You were protected by someone the world trusts. You had your father looking out for you. Spencer and I were different. Our parents were killed even though they were innocent. From then on, Spencer and I had to live our lives in fear of being caught. We've been captured several times, tortured, and beaten. Then they killed Spencer. You have no idea what it's been like all these years to hear 'just stay low, stay silent, stay hidden, rise above all of this, and you will be fine,'" Alison's eyes darkened. "Well, I'm tired of being silent. I'm tired of hiding. It's time we took a stand and start fighting for the life we deserve!"

Toby wanted nothing more than to get out of this mental hospital. He wasn't crazy. He was fully sane and aware of his actions. Emily was right though. If he wants to get out of here and back on course, he will have to "be on his best behavior." They need to think he's getting better. Whatever the hell that's supposed to mean. Why is he crazy for wanting to put an end to this witch hunting program? All he wants is to protect innocent people from being murdered by Tanner's academy. He tried working as a double agent to get people to see that witches weren't dangerous, but nobody would listen. If Toby wants to get the public to change their views, he must first take out to ring leaders spreading this bullshit.

-Linda Tanner

-Darren Wilden

-Officer Garret Reynolds

-Lucas Gottesman

-and Caleb Rivers

Those are the people left on his list. As soon as he gets rid of them, things will be better. The world will be a much better and safer place for everyone. For all those innocence that were once believed to be witches. For future generations that could be born into that category. But will it make him better? No. He will always feel lost and hurt without his love. That's why when he finishes off those monsters, he plans to take his own life. Then, Toby will finally be reunited with his love. With his Spencer.

Toby has a plan to end the Witch Hunting AAcademy. Is it a good one or has he gone too far?
