So, decided to write chapter 2 aswell today, might push for 3, will see. Forgot to write in the first one but im taking inspiration from two stories. 1. A Grimm Reminder by CriticaOfRandomness, thats the idea for where the whole thing that happens to Ruby comes from. 2. Ascension by Destrox. Recommend both!
'Come on, they gotta be alright!' Qrow thought to himself as he prayed his family was alright, minor wounds aside.
As he reached where Team RWBY crashlanded, his heart decided to skip out on him for the second time today.
He saw as both of his Nieces lay on a Bullhead, with a third person against the side of it.
He nearly fainted when he saw what happened. Laying on that Bullhead were Ruby Rose, Both legs essentially completly gone, bleeding out profusely, and Yang Xiao Long, bleeding out with a large cut across her chest.
As he landed, he immediatly strarted to fix their wounds as best as a drunken, desperate man could.
'I will Not Have you die on Me!' He thought as he made a makeshift tourniquet out of whatever he could scrap together. Stopping Rubys bleeding as best he could, he knew that it would not be enough.
Rumaging around in that bag Ozpin gave him, he found some sort of dark Vial containing Who-knows-what. Desperate as he is, He takes it and proceeds to carefully forcefeed it to Ruby.
Completly overlooking the label, which stated:'Warning: Experimental, use only as Last Resort', how ironic that it is exactly that situation.
After he did it, half of it basically just falling down with how shaky the mans hands were, he moved over to treat that nasty Stab wound to Rubys chest, barely missing her Heart and Lungs.
Sowing it together with some medical needle and thread, he did the same to Yang, who, suffice to say, needed it.
After some amaturish work on the sowing side of things, he calms down, only if ever so slightly, to look around.
Jumping down, he notices a fairly beaten up Weiss, luckily not needing any immediate attention.
'Wait, didn't Ruby say that she had a Team of 4?' Qrow thought as he looked around, noticing a lack of said fourth teamate. 'Either they were kidnapped or responsible for this.' he thought.
He'll find out who did this and he will make sure they pay for this whole thing. Be it Rubys Teammate or not.
After He did an, arguably unnecessary, 3 Rounds of Surveillance to make sure he missed nothing, he returned back to Ruby and her Teammates.
He most definitely wasn't expecting what he would find, though.
Ruby found herself laying on the floor, surrounded by nothing but darkness. Hearing something, she looks up and notices 2 things.
Her legs are, to put it simply, gone and There is a humanoid Grimm walking towards her.
'This is it.' Ruby thought. She's gonna die here, by the hands of that Grimm. Unable to really do anything, she just closes her eyes and accepts Reality for what it is.
Except, it's not that Reality, as she notices a rather weird feeling around where her legs should have been.
Opening her Eyes, she notices that same Grimm she thought would end her, crouch by her legs, or what remains of them.
After a moment, something happens. And, despite her disbelief, had an entirely new leg. To be fair, it was a Grimm leg, but one nonetheless.
The exact same thing gets repeated for her other leg, sprouting one off where her legs used to be.
Trying to comprehend just what happened, Ruby sits herself up. Yup, right there where two Long, Black, animalistic legs.
Of course, they were fairly different from her original legs. They were about 30 centimeters longer, had only 3 toes which led into what looked like claws, had that same bone like armor every other Grimm had, though seemingly more like it was used to build what looks like an attempt to define a human leg.
As she stood up, surprisingly, without falling over, she notices that they bend both forwards and backwards, at a point one could only desribe as a 'knee'. Weird they can do that, but who is Ruby to argue about getting new legs.
She had asked if this Grimm could also heal her chest wound. It looked at her with what can only be described as unwillingness. Forcing the Grimms hand to her chest to heal the wound. As Ruby did so, a wave of pain shot through her, causing her to let go of the hand, falling to her knees at the unbearable amount of pain. The Grimm just looked at her with Regretful eyes.
After a few minutes, the pain subsided, and She decided to not do that again. Standing up, she went in a random direction.
She walked around this black abyss, if you could even call it walking, until she reaches what one can only describe as a wall.
She did this a bit more, finding every wall, 4 in total, afterwards being able to perfectly see where the boundaries for this supposed 'Room' where.
In the center of said Room stood, or more acuratly, floated, the same Grimm that gave Ruby her legs. Those same legs where now missing from it.
'Did it... Give me its legs?' She thought. Suddenly, a very deep and gravely voice spoke. ''I... was tasked... with helping.'' it spoke.
''Did that Grimm just Talk?!'' Ruby said out loud. ''Yes... I gave you... mine.'' It said with strain in its voice.
After asking it a few more questions, She began to think. 'Where am I?' was what Ruby would like to know.
As if hearing her question, the room suddenly shifted, taking on the appearance of where they had crash landed.
Having it all flood back into her mind, She can't help but start crying over what happened. After about 15 minutes of crying, Ruby remembered one key fact. She was betrayed, by none other than one of her teammates.
As she continued to think about how she had been betrayed by one of the only people she held close, Ruby began to change from Sad to Angry.
'What right does she have just stabbing us in the back like that!?' Thoughts like these raced through her mind, each serving to only make her angrier as a result.
As Ruby became what can only be described as a ball of living Anger, the world around her began to fall apart. Not wanting to move back to that black void, she screamed out with all she had.
''I AM NOT GOING BACK THERE!'' Ruby screamed at the top of her lungs.
Just as she did so, she felt her eyes open, sat up and upon doing so, accidentally headbutt one Qrow Branwen.
Qrow just couldn't catch a break. First Summer, and now both of his Nieces, two of the only people he truly held dear and cared about, where being flown to a hospital.
'This is just my luck' The Man thought to himself, though more accurately, it would be his unluck.
Now, both of them were Alive, if just barely. Yang had a slightly stronger Pulse than Ruby, though both were essentially on Deaths Doorstep, about to ring the Doorbell.
As they were rushed to operating rooms, he thought about it. One detail in particular was stuck in Qrows mind. 'How in the Hell did Ruby get a new pair of legs?'.
He knew he fed her whatever was in that Vial, but he thought nothing of it. Perhaps it was to stop bleeding or something. What he didn't expect was to find her with two new, completly black legs, looking scarily like those of a Grimm.
Then He remembered he had the Vial with him. Inspecting it, his heart skipped another beat, three times today for the poor man. 'Experimental, what in the Fuck did that mean?'.
''Ozpin's gonna give me some Answers, Like it or not.'' said Qrow as he headed for the Headmasters office once again.
Ariving at Beacon, he decides to go through the same poor old window he had smashed to bits and shards meer hours ago. ''You mind explaining something to me?'' Qrow asked the somewhat perplexed man.
''About what, Qrow?'' asked the intrigued Headmaster. ''About that Vial containing Fuck-if-I-know in that Medkit you handed me.'' 'A Vial? Wait, he can't mean...' Ozpin thought until he came to a jarring realisation.
Qrow noticed a slight look of shock appear for a single second on Ozpins face. ''Oz, you okay?'' asked the now slightly worried man. ''Can you describe what the Vial looked like and what was inside of it?'' asked Ozpin.
''Well, I got the Vial right here, as for what was inside, it was some kinda Black liquid.'' Qrow answered as he pulled out the empty Vial. ''Qrow, who did you use it on?''.
Qrow, now evidently worried, answers hesitently ''Ruby... Why?''. ''Then you might want to sit down for this.'' Ozpin told the man.
''Its What!?'' Qrow firmly Screamed as he finds out just what he used on Ruby. ''Yes, we had found some old notes on something called a 'Grimm Healing Serum', something that would allow whoever used it to regrow bodyparts into Grimm like ones. We had thought that if we went about it much more ethically it would be justifiable. The finished version would allow infinite regeneration, at the cost of ones Humanity, should you overuse it in to quick a time frame. If overused, the User would essentially turn into a Grimm, so that when they die, they flake apart just like one. The version you gave Ruby was a much earlier one, at which point we stopped. She should only have about 5 total Regenerations, 2 of which were already used on her legs it would seem, with no cost to her Humanity.''
Qrow looked like he just been hit by several freight trains, consecutively. ''Oz, it doesn't matter if you went about it 'more ethically', you were toying around with potentially deadly stuff!'' He shouted at the man.
''That is why we stopped doing it, but we had decided to use what we already had, as we deemed it to still have some use, that is Why Miss Rose is still alive right now, isn't it?'' Ozpin exlained.
Qrow couldn't argue, it was that Serum that had stopped Ruby from bleeding out, since the tourniquet barely did its job.
Running a hand through his Hair, he says ''Sorry Oz, it's just... with Summer, and everything that happened with Ruby and her team, I... I couldn't live through my two Nieces dying too!'' Qrow practically broke down as he said that.
''It's alright Qrow, you were just desperate to keep your family alive.'' Ozpin reassured him.
''Thanks, Oz, I'll go back to the Hospital to make sure they're alright.'' He said as he left, out of the same poor window.
'Just who could commit such an Atrocity?' Ozpin thought about who would be able to do this. The answer as to who would most certainly surprise him.
Qrow saves his two Nieces to the best of his abilities, Ruby has some mind fuckery going on and Ozpin reveals stuff. Hope you all liked this chapter, short as they may be. Ive got my mind set up to a certain bit, and looking at how much i got, can probably get a good bit more out of this. Dont really know where this whole thing is gonna go, but ill write the best i can. And about Ascension, with the Grimmace, decided to rename mine since i didnt just wanna straight steal and also decided to make an 'earlier version' with limited regen since i found the concept of Grimmification intersting. some parts might be a bit weird or OOC but hey, i tried.
Next chapter Should be Ruby learning about everything and some more, cant remember right now.
