"So you got a cartoon for me?" Producer asked his colleague.

"Yessir I do, it's a little lighthearted toon called Steven Universe and he's part of this team of alien life forms called the Crystal Gems." Screenwriter Zircon said.

"And what are they like?"

"Think like the amazons of legend but rainbow colored and they have gem stones in varying parts of their bodies."

"Elaborate?"

"Well you see there are these extraterrestrial beings called gems and they project their physical form from their gemstone, and if they're too damaged they poof back to their gemstones."

"What kind of gemstones we talking?"

"Well there's Pearls and Amethysts and Rubies and Sapphires and Topazes-"

"Very expensive gemstone alien types."

"Yeah and they're under the rule of the Diamonds who are these massive leaders with diamonds as their heart."

"Oh giant women are tight!"

"Yeah, okay so-"

"I know what I said."

"Alrighty, and so the gems are given specific assignments based on their gemstone that cater to their Diamond rulers."

"Didn't know the gems had a similar hierarchy as the renaissance."

"And so these Crystal Gems in particular are a rebel group that protect Earth from dangerous corrupted gems." Screenwriter Zircon explained.

"That's where I live."

"It sure is, and they're leader Rose Quartz was able to shatter Pink Diamond and ran away to Earth without a trace."

"How did she do that without any problems from other gems that protect Pink?" Producer asked.

"Oh we're gonna find out seasons later." Screenwriter Zircon said.

"That Pink Diamond was Rose Quartz and she faked her shattering?"

"Nnnnnnooooooooooooooooo."

"I mean if gems are to protect the diamonds and one of them was shattered, which I'm assuming is the same as murder to them, then there's gotta be some shenanigans and that seems like the likeliest shenanigan." Producer said.

"Dang that was supposed to be a dramatic twist."

"Maybe some people will be surprised."

"Fingers crossed, and so Rose meets with this human Greg Universe and Rose is gonna give up her physical form so that her son Steven Universe can come into the world."

"That's the name of the cartoon!"

"Exactly, and Steven's this happy go lucky half human half gem hybrid."

"How does that work?" Producer questioned.

"What do you mean?" Screenwriter Zircon wondered.

"Well you said gems' physical forms are projected from their gems."

"Yeah?"

"So did the gem give Rose a functional reproductive system?"

"Oh please don't think too much about this."

"How does the gem go from Rose to Steven?"

"Idunno we don't breed like humans do." Screenwriter Zircon told Producer.

"Oh fair enough, so what kind of silly little adventures do Steven and the gems get into?" Producer asked.

"Well Steven's gonna get attacked by a giant big monster, trapped at the bottom of the ocean, be turned into a catlike Cronenberg monster, face an evil mascot costume force feeds French fries, get hit in the head a whole bunch, he's gonna grow so old he almost dies, the Crystal Gems are gonna almost die, Pearl dies, Garnet is dissimulated and Steven gets captured-"

"Oh my god this all sounds horrifying for a kid to go through in the series." Producer freaked.

"Oh this is all just the first half of season one."

"What?"

"Yeah as the series goes Steven is gonna be subjected to all many of trauma, near deaths, witnessing of deaths, being hunted, fix his mom's problems that have come to kill him."

"Oh geez it's gonna be hard to make a lighthearted cartoon with all of that happening?"

"Actually it's gonna be super easy, barely an inconvenience." Screenwriter Zircon quoted.

"Oh really?"

"Yeah we're just gonna have Steven do all kinds of goofy antics, have wholesome moments with characters and put in some fun musical numbers intercut with all the serious moments."

"Won't that give viewers emotional whiplash?"

"Maybe."

"So does Steven go to school to unwind from these dangerous situations?" Producer asked.

"Oh no Steven's not enrolled in the educational system."

"What? Did Greg not enroll him in preschool when he came of age?"

"No he just have Steven to the gems to take care of." Screenwriter Zircon said.

"Man this guy sounds like a deadbeat dumping his parental responsibilities on three aliens that brought him into constant danger."

"Uh no he lives nearby and gives him valuable lessons here and there."

"Did he make sure they got him a proper education of the world they protect?"

"No."

"Did he make sure he got regular doctor visits?"

"No gems don't get human diseases."

"But Steven's half human."

"Even so he never went to a doctor."

"Did he even have him registered like get him a birth certificate?"

"Look sir I'm gonna need you to get aaaallllllll the way off my back about Greg's way too lackadaisical parenting."

"I mean kids need a proper balance of freedom and responsibility to make them a stable and more well balanced human, I mean look at me. My parents were way too strict and gave me a bunch of extra curriculars and now I'm a producer for a TV network." Producer said.

"Well maybe of this show does well we can have an epilogue series after the Diamonds are defeated once and for all we can maybe bring it up."

"Let's focus on one show at a time."

"So what do you think?"

"Well it sounds like a fun show, let's do it."

"Sweet."

"So on the off chance this goes well what we're you thinking for the epilogue series?"
