Josette and Arthur take a little walk. Mr. and Mrs Marguerite went back home after they succeeded in selling the fruits and vegetables after the attack. She put her hand on the back, smiling as she turned to look at Arthur.
"I've never seen you around here. Are you new in Romania?" she asked.
"No. Because I'm working all by myself, of course you won't see me around here. My house stood up the hill there". he pointed. "I'm a Novelist, my fans weren't from this village, Miss Marguerite".
She smiled. "Josette". he nodded a smile. "I didn't think Thomas would do that to my family, he's crazy. My father and his father are good friends but his son wasn't, he is doing that because he wants the villagers to know that his family owns that marketplace".
"He's trying to show off if I correct you Miss Josette. He wants someone impressed with what his family has. But what he's doing is wrong". She nodded. "I don't like what he is doing. Lucky (eating apple) I brought it from you and it's sweet".
She blushed. Arthur spoke back. "It's fresh. Where do you find fertilizer for these fruits and vegetables".
"My parents made it. Secret ingredient".
"Right". he smile. "Is nice to meet you Miss Josette". half bow. "We should talk sometime I'll find you, but you mustn't come up the hill unless I told you". She nodded and they went separate ways.
Moment later. Arthur walk through the gate but Vlad's guard stop him. Asking him to show himself, he immediately lowered down his cloak cape. Meeting the guard eyes. "Arthur?"
"Soldiers". he smiled.
"What happened? why Vlad went back to the castle alone, though you two were together earlier". said one of the guards. "Just heard what happened in the marketplace, is it true?"
He smiled again and said, "I will tell later but first I need to see the prince, he'll be waiting for me for the news I brought for him".
"Very well. Is that apple?" Arthur didn't listen, he walked. The apple he brought from Josette is for the prince. He wants Vlad to know that he does not want to be considered a snatcher of his master's love. "Sired?"
Mr. Marguerite was shoveling in the garden, he looked up when he saw someone approaching and it was his daughter Josette.
He smiles, waiting for her to come to him, she stops then smiles. "Do you need my help father?"
"Who is that man Josette? He is quite a middle aged man but handsome. I've never seen him anywhere".
"His name is Arthur's father. He's a novelist up that hill his house stood". She pointed to where the hill was. "But I can't go barge like that unless he told me to, maybe he needs a space". she thought. "Oh gosh if I know he was a novelist I should ask him for a sign and buy his book in the library".
Mr. Marguerite chuckled, resuming his chores.
At the end of the corner there is a small chair, she drags it and sits watching Mr. Marguerite.
"Your mother insists you go to Josette. It better be good we are sending you off early".
"Is kinda my life in danger after Thomas.." she sighs. "It better be good, yes. I'm not afraid of Thomas, I just can't wait to be a doctor".
"Of course you are my dear and I need a hand. Could you please reach that thing?"
Vlad's smell the apple Arthur brought for him. Mouth wide open, he closes his eyes as he takes a bite. So sweet. So crunchy. Never ever did he taste this sweet apple straight from the market.
Everything he tasted was normal but this apple was so special. Maybe this apple came from the woman he had fallen in love with.
"Isn't it sweet sired?" ask Arthur. "I brought it for you".
"Then tell me about hers and what that man had to do with the family".
"The family was Marguerite. Albot Jaques, his wife Beatrice Anne and the only daughter Josette. As you know the family are the farmers, and for that man Thomas Lonut, his family own that place. But don't blame the father because Marguerite and Lonut are good friends, just his son".
Vlad breathes heavily, having another apple for himself. "Go on".
"He's been taken care of and he will no longer disturb the family anymore. She was a medical student hearing her family wanting to send her to boarding, don't know when.. she didn't say anything".
"What about you? what did you say about you".
Arthur smiled. "I was saying I was the novelist, staying at the upper hill and she believed it. She won't come because I told her so".
"Hmm. Your brilliant Arthur. If I reveal myself to her, she will know who I am. The villagers know who I am". he took a last bite, wiped his mouth. "I want you eyeing that family and that an order".
Present day. Grayson was facing around the room as Renfield watched him.
Earlier that he saw Grayson coming home and began hearing him growling from the inside of the house, he could hear Grayson grit between his teeth, slamming the car door that could break the window and everything was unsatisfied for him.
What happened in college that made Grayson angry just like this. Should he ask? That could pissed him off.
"SHE LEFT ME! SHE HATES ME! SHE DOESN'T LOVE ME!"
Everything near him was smashed on the floor. Renfield stood silent hearing him scream. He cried.
"I've been crossing the ocean, over a century to find her and SHE LEFT ME!" his red eyes staring at Renfield. "I need blood. I haven't been fed, she's gone like Josette did to me! she's gone, Renfield. GONE!"
Grayson walks toward Renfield but he stops him. "If I may sir. I don't think this observation may have worked for you. I know that the girl is not interested in you". Grayson looked at him. "I'm saying. The girl is stubborn, she was born that way like your wife. You cannot change her".
"I can change her! I want her to love me! touch me! be my loyal wife!"
"What do you expect from her sir. She barely speaks to you like normal people do. I study her. She resembles your wife, her ambition, bravery, strength, beauty and cleverness and one day she will become a doctor like your wife. The difference is.. she hasn't made it. You know what I mean, Sired".
Grayson approaches him slowly as he wants to slit his throat. "You blame me for my wife's death, Renfield?!"
"Take her or leave her, two choices to make. With you pacing around the room she will not come back here. She staying far from you even worse she will forget you as you never been exist".
Grayson breathed heavily. He's afraid to lose her again and he will not let this happen again. His eyes back to Renfield.
"I'll take her!"
The next day. India is ready. Last night Harker accompanied her to the grocery shopping. As for today's breakfast, she made herself a scrambled egg, crunchy toast and chocolate milk.
She glanced up at the clock as the time showed her seven-fifteenth in the morning. She got time to make herself comfortable.
At seven-thirty. She grabbed the keys then went down where Harker was supposed to meet her.
"I've told you Dahlia they went too far". said Harker, she heard him then stood beside. "Morning sunshine. Excited?"
"Terribly excited. What happened?"
Dahlia spoke. "There a fucking teenage boy messing up in my apartment last night. Outsider. I'm gonna get that shit! university huh? well good luck".
Harker turns to India, he said. "I usually paddle my bicycle to university as you are here. We should walk from here. My bike doesn't have extra seats. Sorry".
"No problem. Not a problem at all. We should go now, isn't it far, am I right?"
"Just a couple for a few blocks. Alright let's go".
Moments later. Professor Duke Van Helsing found India standing right in front of her locker, struggling to open the door. When Duke Van Helsing stood beside India, he helped her with the door. India turns towards him.
"Sorry about that. This door should be fixed. I will ask Mr. Smith to change this door as soon as possible". their eyes met. "Hello India". Duke Van Helsing smiles, India dumps her things inside the locker. "So, how was your first day?"
"I haven't started it yet Professor".
"True.. how is your apartment?" India shakes her head, smiling. "Good. If anything you want.. just tell me immediately or Dahlia or Harker. They help you. Are you walking from your apartment?"
Snickering. "Suppose I need to buy a bicycle. Harker actually wants to lift me with his but his bicycle doesn't have an extra seat".
"Very well. I am glad to see you around here everyday. I wish you good luck".
Garret's town. The morgue. Sheriff's Bourbon walks through the corridor with two officers behind, they are here for two mysterious suddenly dead bodies they found.
They went to see and experience an old gray man, Gil Robbins, the Chief Medical Examiner of the graveyard shift.
The door burst open. Gil Robbins looks up.
"Ah! Sheriff Bourbon. What bring you here?'' As Gil cut the skin of one of the dead bodies (not Miller or Gallowhill) See this Sheriff (Bourbon's walk closer) this woman just arrived today. Her body was found inside the barn, half cut like the Black Dahlia's death...
"Brutally murdered. So young and unfair to die like this".
"I am here for Gallowhall and Miller body". said Bourbon to Gil.
"Ah! about the time". Gil walked to the cold storage where the body was kept.
The door is open, Gill dragging the body out from the storage, side to side.
"This (Gil pointed at the neck victims) I've been searching for their death sign, the autopsy went well but something curious about them.. I don't know if you believe me.
Sheriff Bourbon arm on chest. He spoke. "Believe in what Gil?"
"Dracula". Gil said. Bourbon is about to laugh but he stops when he sees Gil face and is not happy at all. Quick thinking, Bourbon clearing his throat. "I've told you won't".
"I just don't understand. Dracula? in the 21st century".
Gil nodded his head. "These two dots bite marks at their neck very similar to an animal that had fangs. Snake for example. As my autopsy result wasn't from snake bite, their veins are clean from snake poison not even a heart attack".
"So you still believe it was from the Dracula bite?"
"Have you ever heard the snake drink human blood, Sheriff?" Bourbon shake head no. "So you've been told. This is not animal attacks Bourbon. No animal drinks human blood, it eats flesh. But these men were sucked alive till their blood drained and died".
Bourbon shakes its head unbelievably. He will not believe this shit. "I know you wouldn't believe any of this Bourbon and trust me.. it's still out there waiting to kill again".
"We will find the killer and I don't believe you with this story. There's no such thing as Dracula living among us".
Gil smirking, said. "Suit yourself. I was telling the truth. Perhaps you waited for the third victim who exactly will die like this... drink human blood".
"I don't trust your theory Gil".
"I don't ask you to trust the theory, but believe in its existence. These Draculas weren't human things you can hang out with. Once it finds you.. you will never get away".
Moments later. Bourbon leaned on the sheriff's car outside the morgue building, his mind a mess thinking about the earlier. Dracula? does not make any sense and there is no such thing where these creatures lived. He must find out.
"You believe him, Sheriff?" ask one of the officers to Bourbon. "For me Gil was right about this. What kind of animal just drained human blood without eating the flesh".
The men's eyes met. Bourbon stare. "So what? Do you want our town to start buying the stake? protected our house with garlic? ask our neighbor monitoring the neighborhood? because of this sick joke about Dracula".
"I don't think it was a sick joke, Gil wanted us to believe". There was silence between these men, the same officer spoke back. "For our precaution, our neighborhood safety".
"I don't buy this story, McLean".
"Then you should consider this Sheriff. Not even you, not even us want all this happening again. Enough of these two men was the victim of Dracula and trust me.. you don't want it to happen again".
Same day. Somewhere at the restaurant. Grayson invited Jayne for lunch as he wanted full stories about India's moving to another state. Though he didn't like it, Grayson had to.
Grayson orders salads, because he's a Dracula. Dracula doesn't eat meat much. And for Jayne..
"I thought just a woman who likes to order salads didn't know you did too". Jayne smirking. Grayson takes a bite. "On diet?" Grayson shakes his head. "Man like you shouldn't be on diet Mr. Grayson".
"Nah. I'm not on a diet. Lately I've been eating lots of cholesterol and fat. Considering". Grayson wiped his mouth with a napkin. "This salad is delicious, do you enjoy yours?"
Jayne laughed. "You're quite funny, Mr. Grayson. I enjoyed the food I ordered and you seemed to barely like to eat". she pointed at his bowl.
"I hear you are on vacation next week".
"I was about to ask you if you could join me".
Grayson nodded, "Where?" he asked.
"Still thinking. I will inform you".
Grayson then walked towards the jukebox, it stood at the end of the corner. The music is off. Grayson turns to Jayne.
"Would you like to hear some music?" Jayne nods and smiles. Grayson's hand slipped inside the pocket looking for a coin. "Music.. it's better to listen".
Inserting the coin, Grayson searches for the playlist song. As Grayson looks for the song, his mind thinks over India. Then Grayson found and chose the song he used to hear.
Pushing the button and the record is played. Grayson stood there without moving. Slowly he closed his eyes, reminding him of Josette.
He'd forget about Jayne for a while. He'd forget where he is now. He forgot the crowd, and chatted with people around him. He completely forgot everything.
Just a song and his thoughts of his wife and India are on his mind alone.
"Sired?" Arthur bowed to Vlad. "The ship has already arrived in England".
Vlad turns to Arthur with a frowning face. "What exactly you wanted to say Arthur".
"Miss Marguerite actually is on that ship". Vlad's face turned angry, he gripped Arthur's collar neck, Vlad hissed. "Forgive me sir, I just found out".
"Then make that ship turn!"
Arthur shakes his head. "The ship has been a far away journey sired. . We're too late".
"She didn't say anything to you Arthur!?"
"Our last meeting just that day sired. I barely see her in person without your order. And today I went to the market and the villagers talked about it".
Arthur sighs. "It's been two week since she left Romania to continue her studies in England".
Arthur almost choked it up and about to throw it on the wall. Arthur couldn't control Vlad's madness, his obsession toward Josette Jean Marguerite is real.
"FIND HER! I DEMAND YOU TO FIND HER!"
"England is the largest place. Where I could find her sired".
Vlad steps forward Arthur, Vlad eyeballs almost out of its socket. Arthur stood there.
"Then use your brain Arthur".
"I can't crush her dreams. She has a heart and she's human. Her desire of what she becomes I cannot stop her to achieve".
The men's eyes met. Arthur spoke back. "She will hate you if she knows it was you sired".
"I am crushing her dream! I don't care if she hates me or not.. she belongs to me and I want you to find her then bring her back in!"
Arthur breathed. Vlad smirking. "That's an order!"
