Hey everyone! I'm really excited about this new fanfiction. I just wanted to clear a few things up before I start.

Firstly, I'm not a good writer and English is not my first language. I'm trying very hard to write a good story with no mistakes, but it's very likely that there will be some.

Also, just so you all know, I'm using ChatGPT to create this story: I've brainstormed a bit with him and he corrects and improves what I write. I don't want to use it too much, but it's too good a tool not to use, especially since I consider myself a bad writer (who just has a lot of what I consider good ideas).

There will be OCs and stuff that will be my products, but most of the characters, places, spells, magical stuff I'll be using are part of the Harry Potter franchise, which I don't own. I don't own Harry Potter, JK Rowling (at least for the publishing rights) or whoever else does.

I don't know yet how "explicit" this story will be, so to be careful I'm rating it M.

I don't want to spoil too much, so I'll keep this short, but the story will be a time travel story. Harry will end up in the 1970s. Harry is a bit OC, he won't be like in the books or films, and the pairing is already decided (Narcissa). That's all I want to say about the story.

And finally, this first chapter, and a few others to come, are part of the prologue to the story. Think of it as the prologue to the prologue (if that makes any sense lol). I know that I personally like to read long chapters, so I will write the story in that format - only the prologue will consist of "short" chapters.

I think I have said it all, so without further ado, I wish you a pleasant reading of The Veil Walker Chronicles!

Prologue I

The wind howled, whipping through the jagged peaks of the Andes, carrying with it the relentless rain. Amidst this tempestuous world, a lone figure pressed forward, undeterred by the harsh elements. Equipped with a sturdy hiking backpack and hooded cloak, each step he took was deliberate, navigating the treacherous pathway etched into the unforgiving terrain.

For hours, he had endured the punishing conditions, a testament to his unwavering determination. Others might deem him insane, braving such an inhospitable environment, but time was not a luxury he could afford. The weight of anticipation bore heavily upon him, for he had waited too long, suffered too much, to turn back now.

As he ascended the rugged slope, the biting wind cut through the thin air, a constant reminder of the unforgiving altitude. Dust and loose gravel swirled in a frenzied dance, their chaotic whirl mocking his unwavering resolve. Raindrops pelted his face like icy needles, mingling with the beads of determination-fueled sweat that traced their way down his furrowed brow. Yet, he paid no heed to the discomfort, for his purpose burned within him, fierce and unyielding.

Each step forward retraced the painful path that led him to this precipice. The scars of a war fought long ago still lingered, etched upon his soul and eternally imprinted upon his heart. Friends, once bound by unbreakable bonds, had been ripped away by the relentless onslaught of darkness. Their laughter, once a symphony of joy, silenced by the deafening echoes of loss.

Years of solitary pursuit had consumed him, an unquenchable thirst for a means to rewrite the annals of time. Countless nights had been spent poring over ancient tomes, deciphering cryptic texts, seeking the elusive key that would unlock the portal to the past.

And now, in the midst of this treacherous ascent, he stood on the precipice of revelation. Whispers of a long-forgotten ritual had led him to this desolate corner of the world. Nature itself seemed to conspire against him, unleashing its fury in response to his audacious quest.

Images of those he had lost haunted his thoughts, their faces etched in his mind like fleeting mirages. Hermione, the fierce and brilliant, her sacrifice still reverberating through his being. Ron, the loyal and valiant, forever silenced on the battlefield. Their names echoed within him like a solemn hymn, propelling him forward even as doubt threatened to consume him.

Gripping his hiking staff with white-knuckled determination, he pushed through the final leg of the ascent. The storm raged around him, a symphony of nature's fury that seemed to both challenge and acknowledge his purpose. And there, at the summit, amidst the swirling mists and cascading rain, an ancient stone altar stood, emanating an ethereal glow that pierced the veil of darkness.

With a heart heavy with anticipation and resolve, he approached the sacred altar, its weathered surface a testament to the ages it had witnessed. The weight of responsibility settled upon his shoulders as he gazed upon the ancient relic. He knew not the consequences that awaited him, nor the sacrifices that would be demanded in return. But driven by an unwavering commitment, he steeled himself for the unknown, ready to embark on a journey that defied the boundaries of time itself.

In the midst of nature's turmoil, he stood in silent reverence, the howling winds carrying his whispered words to the heavens above. His solemn vow echoed through the storm, a pledge to the elements, to the rugged Andean peaks, and to the souls of those he carried within him. With unyielding determination, he summoned the remnants of his shattered past, drawing strength from the scars that marked his journey.

As the rain cascaded down and the wind whipped around him, he felt a surge of ancient magic stir within his core. It was not yet time to invoke the ritual, but this moment marked the beginning of a treacherous path he was destined to walk. The storm raged on, a testament to the trials that awaited him, but he stood resolute, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Little did he know that this stormy ascent was merely the prelude to a much grander saga, where the realms of magic and mortality would collide, and the fates of both the living and the departed would hang in the balance.
