Sora was sad, deep down in his heart he knew it. He had messed up, how could he have been so careless? The signs were there, Xenmas, and that younger Xehanort popping up everywhere. He should have been more thoughtful about his time in the sleeping realm.
He didn't know what hurt more, the feeling of helplessness, as his body was almost a vessel for Xehanort or his seeing his friend's face's after he woke up. Telling him he messed up, telling him he was careless, and how they were worried about him.
The cold look on Riku's face didn't help as his friend slapped him across the room in a fit of anger, walking out with Mickey and the others, even Yen Sid left silently, as he walked through a portal to Disney town. The only one to stay and comfort the teen was Kairi. She ran over, her long Auburn hair flowing as she looked at Sora's blue eyes. She hated seeing her friend, sad it always hurt her heart to see him that way.
"I messed up, didn't I Kairi?" Sora said, as tears rolled down his face, as stared into the kind purple eyes of his best friend. Kairi gave him a small smile, as she helped the spikey-haired teen up off the floor of the mysterious tower.
"Maybe a little, but you gotta be honest, no one saw this coming. Xehanort returning, The fact that a whole new organization is back for this crazy keyblade war. I guess that's just something for later. After everything we've dealt with one can only guess as to what could have been. As I know you would have passed with flying colors." Kairi grinned, cheering her friend up, as his smile quickly grew.
"I can't blame you for not thinking anything was truly wrong in the Sleeping realm, I probably would have acted the same. Besides, if anyone is to blame it's master Yen Sid. He should have pulled You and Riku out the moment something was wrong." Kairi said, patting Sora on the back gently. Sora nodded for a moment, as he knew she was right on that part.
"I guess that's true, and besides Mom would've liked me to think about the positives of my journey rather than the negatives." Sora said as a small smile formed on his face, as he remembered the visions of his mom in the sleeping worlds.
"So what was she like, your mom, you don't seem to talk about her much."Kairi asked as her eyes widened at Sora's mention of his mother. Sure Sora had mentioned her while fighting once or twice, and maybe a quick mention of what she looked like. But never anything major. Even in Kairi's memories the images of Sora's mom were always so distant despite meeting her years ago.
"Well, She had blue hair, as blue as a blueberry, and she was smiling at me like an angel peacefully bathed in light. Her voice was so soft and soothing, and her outfit was truly special. She had this black corset, and black shorts, black leggings, but what made her look cool were these blue straps of cloth that wrapped around her waist, as well as these white cloths on her arms. Not to mention the suit of armor she had that made her look like the ultimate warrior.
"Mom was just awesome, and to be honest if it wasn't for me seeing her in the sleeping worlds, I probably would have become a vessel of Xehanort in the end." Sora said, as his smile turned sad for a second, he wanted her by his side again. As Sora remembered the meeting at the door of Ansem's Kingdom hearts.
Oh, how Sora's heart ached to see her on the other side of that door, trapped behind that door, as the Heartless rampaged around her. Unable to be with him, the only thing that was shared between the two was her Wayfinder, as she tossed it through the large doors to him. The beautiful blue star was the only thing to keep him going after that day. Even after beating Ansem, and Xenmas, fighting the armored will of his dad. Sora always looked at the way finder, and it always made things feel right in the end.
Sora gently fished the blue star-like charm from his pocket and gazed at its glow as the thin blue metal danced under the lights of the tower room as he spun the thin black string holding it together. Oh how he loved looking at the charm, it was more than remembering his mother, it was the remainder of just how much he's grown thanks to her, to his friends, and thanks to Kairi.
"Hey Kairi, remember when you made your lucky charm, and how it would always bring you back to me?" Sora asked Kairi, who giggled for a second.
"So you remembered that part, I'm surprised it worked in the end, but I guess anything is possible if you believe. Sora, you got something crazy in mind, don't you? Kairi responded as she gave her friend a toothy grin, knowing he was about to probably do something foolish, and downright dumb. Even if that's something she loved about the boy, those child-like ideas kept Sora feeling the most enjoyable to be around.
"Well if the magic of the charm, or wayfinders worked bringing us back together in the World that never was, maybe it can help me be with Mom again. I could try the door on Destiny Island, use the keyblade to open it up, find Mom and bring her back to the light." Sora said as his eyes shone brightly, summoning the Kingdom Key.
Kairi stood silently for a moment then she laughed ever so slightly, the idea was so dangerous, and yet so Sora. He had no way of knowing if it would work if they would return, or be in one piece. But the idea was good in theory, Sora was strong, and Aqua was definitely strong enough to protect him.
"You know, you both had better return sometime this year Sora. After all, I wanna see the spikey blueberry return." Kairi said as she noticed Sora's face blush at the comment, it was like the first time they met, him having spiky blue hair, and Ms. Hina had to dye his hair brown to deal with the teasing from the other kids. Sora made a promise to her and Hina, a promise on that day. If his mom returned, he would go back to being the blueberry they all loved.
"I still have that promise to fulfill, don't I? Plus I'm sure having my blue hair again would be fun for everyone." Sora said, rubbing the points of his brown hair.
"You should see her after saving your Mom, I'm sure Hina would love to meet her." Kairi suggested, as Hina was as much of a Mom to Sora, as Aqua was.
"I'll definitely do that, I guess one question is how to get to Destiny Island, Riku, and Mickey took the gummi ship to visit Radiant Garden, and the fairies took off to visit Aurora." Sora wondered, holding his arms behind his head and letting the keyblade disappear in a flash of light.
"I could help ya, but it'll cost you big time." A familiar voice spoke as the wooden door to the room opened, as long red hair caught Sora and Kairi's eyes. Axel had entered the room, leaving the teen surprised to see the former nobody still here.
"I didn't know you were still here Axel!" Sora said, still unsure of the reformed man, as well as how he could help him get to see his Mom again, and to be honest Sora forgot the man was still here.
"Well as I thought you could use a hand in your little issue, I always help my friends out, or I gotta help you get it memorized again Sora." Axel smirked, as he raised his hand, as a black and purple portal of darkness appeared.
"That's a dark portal, so that would take me to Destiny Island?" Sora asked, as his throat felt dry seeing the harsh portal next to him.
"It can send you anywhere, Sora. The Realm of Darkness is also possible if you want. All you gotta do is help me with something, once Aqua is safe." Axel smirked as if a flame grew in his green eyes.
"What would you want me to do?" Sora asked, as his hands started to shake at the thought of going through the portal, and Axel's request.
"I want you to help me out in Radiant Garden, the other members of the old organization have a theory and you are the perfect person to help us out," Axel said as he took out two ice cream sticks from his pocket with the words "winner".
"If we're gonna beat Xehanort and his gang, we need Roxas, as well as many more people. So Sora are you in or out?" Axel declared, putting the stick away, as he noticed Sora had a silent look on his face.
"You didn't have to be that dramatic, save some of that flare for me, once Mom is safe.'' Sora grinned, as he looked at Axel, and then at Kairi.
They just smiled, as Sora slowly stepped towards the portal, as Sora turned around to see his friends again.
"Hey Axel, of course, I'll help, and Kairi, I'll be back, I promise." Sora whispered to his friends, as he stepped through the portal.
As the portal closed, The only thing remaining on Sora's mind was how long would it take to be in her arms again, to see her smile, to feel her embrace, as the light of her eyes returned once more.
—--
"So what's with Riku, anyway, one second he's all friendly with Sora, the next thing he does is punch his best friend across the room. Something just doesn't feel right." Lea said, scratching his head in confusion, as Kairi remained silent.
Kairi was confused by the question herself, everyone was, as Riku, Axel, no Lea, and the gang had saved Sora. So something must have happened to Riku, to make him feel so bitter towards Sora?
"Don't you realize, you've already fallen into Xehanort's plan? After all that man has already planned for this to happen." A voice whispered as Kairi and Lea summoned their keyblades, turning to see a figure in a black coat. The outline and design of the coat was feminine, so it was assumed this member was a girl at least by Kairi's logic.
"You're with the organization, just who are you and what do you know about Riku?" Kairi snapped as she charged at the cloaked figure, swinging her keyblade, as Lea launched a fire spell, as the organization member summoned a Keyblade to block the attacks.
Lea's eyes widened, as he remembered that keyblade in the figure's hand, it was Oathkeeper. Lea's breath grew hazy, as he looked at the key with a nervous look.
"Just who are you?" Lea asked, as he felt tears rolling down his eyes, as if the false hope was a reality despite all forms of logic making sense.
"Well, I am not Roxas, I am the one missing from your memories, I am the piece of your life that was removed by Roxas. I am simply the thing that was never meant to exist." The mysterious figure said as they tossed something at Kairi.
Kairi caught the object revealing a small yellow seashell, as she looked at the figure. The Mysterious girl turned around and summoned a dark portal, and looked back to see Kairi and Lea.
"I'll see you again, after all, you'll need another guardian of light once this day is over."The girl whispered as the comment made Kairi and Lea's spines run cold.
"What do you mean, you becoming a guardian of light? Hate to break it to you, we already have our seven, if you haven't noticed." Lea smirked, as ran after the girl in black.
"I'm afraid you're mistaken, Axel, as I only know of five actual members on your team, and the seats of darkness have already been cutting down the roster on both sides. So next time I return, you'd better hope you can find another person to replace the last people you've just lost. After all, Xehanort's plan is already in action." The girl said, as the grin on Lea's face quickly dropped. The girl walked through the portal, as it closed leaving Kairi and Lea in a state of fear.
Kairi's eyes widened in shock, as her mind was racing to comprehend the fact that Xehanort, was taking two of their members, and giving them, this unknown girl. Nothing made sense, but the one question running through her mind was who were the two guardians of light they were about to lose?
Author notes
Hello, so it is time, I have decided to return to my first fic, technically 3rd, or 4th. But yeah I am redoing Kh Bonds of Mom and Son. Kinda it's a half remake, half me doing something different. As I put thought into how I make things different while staying in canon. Beyond Aqua as Sora's mom. Well you'll see soon judging by the ending of this chapter.
