(A/N: My goodness! I did not expect this story to have 3 chapters when I got the idea for it! Well, at any rate, let's get this chapter going so you'll find out what happens!)
Mario, Peach, and Daisy were walking down the path with Tiara floating behind them. They were all walking along happily, talking and laughing like good friends do. But then Tiara had to know.
"Where are we going to find an airship?" Tiara asked.
"There's a place near here that built the ones Mario traversed across in his stage show, back when Bowser was married and he and his wife adopted the Koopalings." Peach replied. (A/N: Remember, the Koopalings first appeared in that game, and Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that "Super Mario Bros. 3" was a play.)
"Wait a minute! You said that awful monster was married, and he's got kids?! How can this possibly get any worse?!" Tiara asked, not at all happy with this news.
"No, the fact Bowser was married was actually a good thing." Mario said.
"Good how?" Tiara asked, skepticism in her voice.
"Let's look at it like this: when Bowser was married, he was very happy with his wife, and he was loyal to her, meaning he was not the least bit intent on... you-know-what..." Daisy said, not wanting to make Peach sick again.
"Oh, that makes sense." said Tiara.
"But, sadly enough, his wife died shortly after Bowser's biological son, Bowser Jr., was born. And then everything went downhill from there..." Mario explained.
"How so?" Tiara asked.
"I... I don't want to talk about it..." Peach said, looking at the ground.
"Neither do I." added Mario, copying Peach. They would have had to tell Tiara all about Isle Delfino and how awful it was at the beginning, and they didn't plan on discussing what could have been the most disappointing vacation of their lives.
"Let's just chalk it up as something really bad." Daisy told the Bonneter, having heard the whole story from Mario and Peach after the vacation had come to an end.
Tiara figured that if what happened was really so bad that Mario and Peach didn't care to discuss it, then perhaps it was a good thing that she didn't find out.
A few minutes later, they reached the place where the airships were built, and the Toads who worked there were more than surprised to see Mario show up with Princess Peach and her tomboy cousin, Princess Daisy.
"Mario! Your Highnesses!" one of the workers gasped before bowing and asking, "What brings you three here today?"
"We need to rent one of these airships." Mario explained.
"Oh, okay. For what?" asked the worker.
"A good cause." Peach said, before quickly explaining what had happened earlier that morning with Bowser and Tiara (the latter flew into view at the sound of her name).
"Oh, the poor thing." the worker said, seeing Tiara. Then he said, "Well, you're in luck. We just gave these ships their required maintenance, so they're all good to go. Take whichever one you want."
After a moment of deliberation, Mario, Peach, and Daisy picked one out. They boarded the airship, and Tiara was looking forward to going home.
Mario quickly set a course for the Cap Kingdom, and the airship started up and began to head east as it rose into the air.
"Good luck!" said the worker, and even his co-workers waved to the departing ship.
When they were airborne, Mario and his friends were feeling okay.
"I feel a song coming on." Daisy said.
"Start singing, and if we know it, we'll sing along with you." Peach replied.
Daisy began singing the first line of "Get Back" by the Beatles, since they were taking Tiara back to her home in the Cap Kingdom. Everyone else knew the song and started singing along, much to Tiara's extreme delight. Yes, the Fab Four were popular enough to be heard of in a place like the Cap Kingdom, and quite a few Bonneters were fans of the group.
Eventually, the airship touched down in the Cap Kingdom, and the group looked around as they disembarked.
"Mama-mia! This place looks like it was hit by un tornado!" Mario said, surveying the damage done to the kingdom.
"Un tornado named Bowser." Tiara replied, saying the first two words the way Mario did.
"Geez, what did he tear this place apart for?" Daisy asked, annoyed.
"He was looking for me so he could give me to Peach." Tiara said.
"Oh, right. But that was a pretty stupid reason to destroy this kingdom." Daisy replied.
"Indeed." Peach responded.
As they walked around, Mario and his friends saw other Bonneters who were upset about the damage done to their homeland, but they also obviously knew Tiara, because they looked surprised to see that she had returned. Unseen by Mario and the others, one Bonneter quickly flew off upon seeing Tiara.
That Bonneter quickly flew over to a different Bonneter, who was anxiously floating around in the Central Plaza. The Bonneter in the plaza looked like a white top hat with blue wisps of hair and large eyes with red irises. He also looked really worried.
"I just wish I could get Tiara back... This is all that stupid monster's fault! He ruined everything!" the worried Bonneter muttered to himself.
"Cappy, it's okay! You don't have to be worried anymore! Your sister is back!" the first Bonneter said to the new one.
"What did you just say?" Cappy asked, surprised.
"Tiara's home! She's with a group of people who obviously got her back from that awful monster!" the first Bonneter replied.
"She is?! You mean it?! Is she okay?!" Cappy asked, eyes wide.
"I wouldn't lie about something as serious as this, Cappy. You know that. And yes, she looks okay to me." the Bonneter replied.
"Where is she right now?" Cappy asked.
"Right over there, with those people." the Bonneter said, pointing towards the group of people who were making their way across Glasses Bridge.
Cappy looked that way and saw the approaching group.
"Thank you!" Cappy said as he flew over to the group and quickly spotted his sister.
"TIARA!" Cappy shouted upon seeing Tiara in the group.
Tiara recognized the voice in a heartbeat, and she snapped to attention in time to see her brother coming.
"CAPPY! BIG BROTHER!" Tiara shouted back, flying straight into her brother's arms for a big hug.
The two Bonneters seemed to be having an emotional reunion.
"Aww..." Peach said.
"Looks like they really missed each other." said Daisy.
"They almost remind me of me and Peach whenever I save her from Bowser's clutches, except there's no kissing involved here." Mario said, which made Peach blush.
"Cappy, I missed you so much!" Tiara exclaimed.
"Oh, Tiara! I had every intention of going after that monster to get you back, but with all the airships being badly damaged from the attack, what could I do?" Cappy asked as he stopped the hug for a moment.
"I'm just so glad to see you again." Tiara said.
"Not as relieved as I am to have you back!" Cappy replied. He hugged Tiara again and whispered, "I'm so glad you're safe."
"I was so scared... but you should have seen what happened to that monster!" Tiara said.
"What happened to him?" Cappy asked.
"You've got to meet my new friends first. They're the ones who beat him and brought me home." Tiara said, pulling out of the hug and motioning to Mario, Peach, and Daisy.
"Oh!" said Cappy. They flew closer to the 3 humans who had been watching the reunion with happy smiles on their faces. Then Cappy told them, "I really can't thank you guys enough for bringing my little sister home! I was so worried about her, and I intended to save her myself, but I couldn't."
"We were glad to help." Mario said.
"Yes, we were. Your sister is a real sweetie. We wanted to help her once we knew the situation she was in." Peach said.
"And I made sure Bowser learned a valuable lesson for everything. But of course, that was before I knew about your sister. I found her after I thrashed him into next year!" Daisy said.
"Bowser? Was that the monster's name?" Cappy asked.
Everyone nodded, confirming it.
"You say you thrashed him. How bad off was he?" Cappy asked Daisy.
"He was unconscious and probably with some broken bones after I got done with him." Daisy replied.
"That sounds serious." Cappy replied.
"Hey, I had to thrash him, considering what he was planning to do." Daisy replied.
"What was that?" Cappy asked.
Peach had to cover her ears, since she knew the mention of what Bowser was planning would make her feel sick again, and Mario hugged her tightly, trying to help her feel better.
When Cappy found out the main reason why Daisy had done what she did to Bowser, he said, "Wow! I knew that girls were able to fight really well, thanks to the Power Rangers, but I had absolutely no idea that even princesses were able to kick major butt!"
"When evil jerks think they can marry this princess's cousin, they can think again!" Daisy smirked.
"So, even though you guys got rid of the monster, there's still one more problem that has yet to go away." Cappy said.
"Qual รจ il problema? What's the problem?" Mario asked, before assuring Peach, "You're okay, dolcezza, sweetie. They're done discussing what Bowser wanted with you."
"Look over there." Cappy said, pointing to a tower that looked like it was wearing a giant top hat. There was an airship circling over it, but it was a bit smaller than Bowser's airship was.
"What's that?" Peach asked.
"That is Top-Hat Tower. It's being guarded by the monster's henchmen." Cappy explained.
Mario, Peach, and Daisy immediately thought Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings were the henchmen. After all, they had their own airships, too, so perhaps they piled into one of their airships, and here they were.
"Don't worry. We'll teach those little idiots a lesson!" Daisy said, cracking her knuckles.
"Yeah. I've dealt with them a million times before." Mario replied.
"It'll be great to teach them a lesson for all the times they were mean to me." Peach added.
"So let's go!" Cappy said.
As they made their way to Top-Hat Tower, Daisy saw something really surprising. She had just spotted a poster for Bowser's forced wedding to Peach.
"Mario, you've got to come and take a look at this! Bowser actually believed it was really gonna happen!" Daisy exclaimed, ripping one of the posters off of a nearby wall and showing it to him. What he saw made him gasp!
The poster depicted a happy-looking Bowser in his wedding tux with an arm around Peach, who was clad in a lovely white wedding dress, but the Koopa King didn't seem to notice that Peach looked angry with the idea of marrying him. Next to the picture were the words, "Bowser & Peach: A Royal Wedding" in semi-fancy writing.
"Peach, close your eyes, and don't open them until I say it's-a safe." Mario instructed his princess. Peach did as her boyfriend told her, and the next sounds she heard were the sounds of paper being ripped apart. When the sounds stopped, Mario said, "I think I might have to carry you, Peach. There's no telling how many of these posters there are, and they would surely make you sick."
"Okay." Peach said, allowing Mario to pick her up and carry her in his big, strong arms. In the meantime, Daisy was ripping the posters off of the walls and tearing them into tiny little shreds of paper that didn't look like anything. But she saved the shreds to put in a recycle bin when they went back to the Mushroom Kingdom.
But upon finding that there was no easy way to get up to the top of the tower (after Daisy ripped the posters off the base of the tower and turned them into confetti), Mario said, "Perhaps we'd better go back and take the airship there."
So they did. But they parked their ship by the top hat's brim. Then Mario and his friends were able to get to the top a lot quicker. As they hurried to the top, they heard something kind of surprising from a Bonneter around there. He said, "That monster's long-eared henchmen are still on Top-Hat Tower."
Mario, Peach, and Daisy stopped dead in their tracks when they heard the way he described the characters up top! Long-eared henchmen?! If there's one thing our heroes knew well, it was the fact that the Koopalings and Bowser Jr. don't have long ears! Did Bowser hire some new henchmen?
"Let's-a get up there and find out!" said Mario. So they continued making their way to the top, except Tiara asked if she could just turn around and hide inside of the airship.
"I don't want his henchmen to see me. What if they nab me and try to give me back to Bowser? I don't want him to know I escaped when Daisy started belting him around!" Tiara said.
Mario, Peach, and Daisy could not argue with Tiara's logic.
"Good point. Go back to the ship and wait for us, then. And don't touch anything." said Peach.
"I'll be good." Tiara promised, before making her way back to the ship to hide.
By then, Mario and his friends reached the top of Top-Hat Tower, and as they looked at the airship above them, they could see that Bowser's henchmen were... bunny rabbits.
"Okay, that explains the long ears." Mario muttered.
"Oh my..." Peach said to herself. She hadn't expected Bowser's henchmen to be rabbits.
Daisy's first instinct was to burst out laughing because this was just sad. The big, bad Koopa King was reduced to hiring bunny rabbits!
However, these rabbits were no laughing matter. The short, squat one dressed in green said, "Da boss warned me there'd be a fella widda mustache comin' along!"
"Uh-oh, they obviously anticipated my arrival, courtesy of Bowser." Mario said quietly.
"Guess we oughta introduce ourselves... We're da wedding planners for da happy couple. Dey call us...da Broodals!" the rabbit added.
"What happy couple are you idiots talking about?" Daisy asked, folding her arms across her chest.
"Da boss and his bride, of course!" said the rabbit.
"Geez, are they blind or something? Couldn't they see that my princess was non felice, not happy?" Mario asked himself.
"Daisy, I don't feel very good..." Peach moaned, placing a hand on her stomach and turning slightly pale. The thought of being a happy couple with someone as horrible as Bowser was making her feel nauseous again.
"Come down here and see if you can figure out which of us was supposed to be the bride." Daisy smirked.
"What?! Da boss didn't get her?! He said was was goin' after her!" the rabbit said.
"Just get your fluffy little butt down here or I'll come up there and kick it down here myself!" Daisy demanded.
"She's bluffing." the Broodals thought, looking at each other slyly. The first one said, "I'd like to see ya try!"
"Sad mistake!" Daisy thought with a smirk. She turned to Mario and said, "Give me a boost."
"Okie-dokie!" Mario said. He put his hands on Daisy's waist, and tossed her high into the air. Then he jumped up after her. When the princess started to drop, she quickly allowed herself to jump off of Mario, and that gave her the height she needed to reach the deck of the Broodals' airship.
"Did I lie?" Daisy asked with a smirk as she looked at the Broodals, who were shocked.
"Oh crap!" the Broodals screamed. They didn't anticipate her getting up there the way that she had!
"All right! Time for me to have some fun!" Daisy said. She then kicked the green-clad rabbit down from the deck of the airship, and he screamed as he fell, landing face-first on the ground with a THUD!
"Owie!" the rabbit said, in pain.
"I'll take that." Mario said, snatching the rabbit's green top hat off of his head.
"Gimme back my hat! It's mine, not yours!" said the rabbit. He wasn't able to get up because falling on his face did him no good.
"Not anymore." Mario said, before handing it over to Peach, who used it as a receptacle to be sick in. She hadn't wanted to throw up on the top of the tower.
"Poor thing... You must really hate the idea of being that monster's... you-know-what..." Cappy said to the princess as she set the hat down.
"You have no idea just how sickening it is..." Peach moaned, reaching into her purse for some Tic-Tacs to freshen her breath.
"What did you do to my hat?!" the rabbit screamed as he jumped to his feet and saw what was inside of his hat.
"I used it to help my princess so she wouldn't get sick on the top of this tower." Mario said.
"And as you might have guessed, I refuse to be the bride. I'm never going to get married to your stupid boss! And that's because I hate him, but he's too stupid to figure it out!" Peach announced.
"Oh, and here's another heads-up: the wedding isn't going to happen! It's been cancelled! Your boss suffered a pretty bad accident this morning when he went to get the girl, and he's on his way home right now to sleep it off." Daisy said.
"What?! The boss can't cancel the wedding without telling us!" the rabbit with long, blonde hair exclaimed.
"He can if he happened to lose consciousness during his accident! And if he paid you for your services in advance, then you'd better go out and look for him because you're going to owe him a refund." Daisy said.
"We... didn't get paid yet." said the lanky Broodal.
"Then you're fine." said Daisy.
"No, we're not! We wanted to help him and get paid!" said the big Broodal that was clad in blue.
"Hey, your boss and the girl he wanted to marry weren't meant for one another, and a wedding between them would've spelled certain doom for all of us, so if I were you, I wouldn't complain." Daisy said as she jumped down from the ship, landing neatly on her feet near Mario and Peach.
"What do you mean 'a wedding between them would've spelled certain doom for all of us'?" asked the first rabbit suspiciously as the other Broodals came down and joined him.
Mario and Peach explained that the Dark Prognosticus clearly stated that the marriage of two beings like Bowser and Peach would summon the Chaos Heart and open The Void, the expansion of which would go on to destroy the worlds. (A/N: This happened in "Super Paper Mario".)
The Broodals could not believe their ears when they heard this story! Helping their boss would have caused the end for everyone?! What a shocker!
"Was he... aware of this?" the blonde rabbit asked, feeling shocked.
"Totally. But he doesn't care. He thinks he can have Peach because he's a king and should be able to have whatever he wants, whenever he wants it." Mario said.
"Are you serious?" asked the big rabbit in blue.
"Do we look like we're kidding?" Peach asked. She, Mario, and Daisy all looked at the first rabbit with dead serious expressions on their faces, indicating that they were telling the truth!
"They're... not lying..." the lanky rabbit said.
The Broodals felt sick as they realized that they were about to help cause the end of life as they knew it. They apologized profusely and promised Mario and his friends that if Bowser called and asked them to get back to planning the wedding again, they would not help him, no matter what he offered.
"Good!" said Mario.
"I need to wash out my hat." the green-clad rabbit complained.
"Wash it out in the tub on our airship. In the meantime, we've gotta find our mom and tell her that we can't help that guy anymore, and never again, because if we continue to help, we would help him cause the end of our existence." said the blonde rabbit.
So the rabbit in green grabbed his hat, and then he and the others got back on their airship, which quickly left the Cap Kingdom, leaving Mario, his friends, and all the Bonneters alone.
The Bonneters cheered upon seeing the Broodals leave.
"Well, that's the end of that." Mario smiled with grim satisfaction.
"Good thing, too." Peach said.
"But what are we going to do about my homeland? Look at it!" Cappy said.
Peach was wearing a frown as she looked at the mess that used to be the Cap Kingdom. She thought for a moment, then smiled and said, "I have an idea." She beckoned for Mario and Daisy to come close, and they huddled together, looking like football players discussing their next play as Peach whispered to them.
Cappy wasn't sure what Peach was saying to her friends, but he hoped it was good.
"Mi piace il tuo modo di pensare! I like your way of thinking!" Mario smiled when Peach finished whispering, and Daisy nodded in agreement.
"So what's your plan?" Cappy asked.
"You'll find out tomorrow. We have to go home in order to get the plan started, but we will return bright and early tomorrow." Mario promised as he and the princesses returned to the airship, assuring Tiara that the coast was clear.
"See you then!" Cappy said as he and Tiara watched the airship leave. They waved good-bye to the retreating ship before sharing another hug.
"I am safe now; right, big brother?" Tiara asked.
"Completely safe." Cappy assured Tiara.
The next day, the airship Mario and the princesses took returned to Bonneton, but from it emerged a lot of Toads who were wearing hard hats over their Mushroom caps and tool-belts around their waists.
"All right, everyone! Go to those airships and let's get to work!" Peach's voice said.
The Toads all sounded like a crowd of little kids cheering as they divided into groups, hurried to random airships, and began to survey the damage done to them, ready to make the necessary repairs.
And if that wasn't enough, Mario also emerged from the airship, dressed like a builder. Next to him was a slightly taller mustached man who was similarly attired, only he was wearing green, not red like Mario. And the princesses were also there, dressed in outfits that made them look a bit like farmers, save for the hard hats and tool-belts.
"What's going on here?" Cappy asked when he saw Mario and his friends step out of the airship.
"Well, fixing what Bowser did here will require uno sforzo di squadra, a team effort. So we brought some extra pairs of hands to help out." Mario said.
"You want to help repair Bonneton?" Tiara asked as she flew over to see her friends.
"We all do." Daisy said.
"Yeah! So we came back with what we're going to need, and we also recruited the Toads, and my twin brother, Luigi, to help us out." Mario said as he put an arm around the taller man.
"Besides, I can handle repairs. Mario and I do plumbing work all the time, and it sometimes involves making repairs." Luigi replied.
"Okay." said Cappy.
"We wanted to help, too, but Daisy and I had to change into these outfits because we'd most likely mess up our dresses during the repair work. Plus, Toadsworth would never let me leave the castle again if I mussed up my dress." Peach said.
Once the Bonneters were assured that a good thing was happening in their kingdom, they quickly hurried into their airships/homes to make sure everything was okay on the inside while the Toads, Marios, and princesses repaired the outside of the airships.
In a few days' time, all the airships were repaired, and you never would have guessed that Bowser had ransacked the kingdom.
"I... I really don't know how to thank you for all of this..." Cappy said, impressed with how quickly the Cap Kingdom was fixed up.
"You don't have to. I had enough fun teaching Bowser a lesson he'll never forget. Unless he has amnesia, so he won't even remember it." Daisy smiled.
"And besides, it's nice to be able to help out for once, rather than be out of commission, due to someone whose name we're not going to mention." Peach said.
"Don't worry, Peach. We know. And you are very helpful." Mario said to his princess.
"There are just not enough words to express how grateful all of us are to you for your help." said a female Bonneter.
"Pensare nulla di esso. Think nothing of it. We wanted to help you." Luigi said.
The most the Bonneters could do to thank the group was promise that they would always remember the Mario Bros., the princesses, and the Toads, and to let them know they were always welcome in Bonneton. And after everyone was praised for their hard work, it was time for our friends to head back to the Mushroom Kingdom.
"Feel free to come by whenever you want." Cappy said.
"We will. And perhaps you could come visit us in the Mushroom Kingdom sometime." Peach suggested.
"Can we, Cappy?" Tiara asked.
"Maybe someday, Tiara, but not today." said Cappy.
After the group returned to the Mushroom Kingdom, Daisy paid the rental fee for the airship (even though the Toad who allowed them to rent it wasn't going to charge royalty), and Peach baked plenty of yummy cupcakes for everyone to enjoy, as a sweet reward for the hard work they had done in the Cap Kingdom, helping the Bonneters get their kingdom back to normal.
The End
So that's how "Super Mario Odyssey" would have begun if Bowser had snatched up Daisy instead of Peach. I hope you all enjoyed this!
