THE TAKEDOWN OF BENEDICT
Chapter 1: SUSPECT DEBRIEFING
Derek was finishing up cooking the sauce for the food, Casey laid out the plates and utensil with a smile on her face. She looked at Derek with a smile on her face as she looked at Derek, who looked really focused on the food.
Casey:"the food looks great" (Casey said with a smile.)
Derek: (looked up confused, he turned off the fire from the stove and took off his apron. He walked up to Casey and put his ear near Casey's lips)"I'm sorry, what was that? Derek said with a confused look on his face. Even though Derek wasn't looking, he could tell that Casey was rolling her eyes. She exhaled sharply and crossed her arms, Derek turned towards her and smiled, "I'm sorry I just heard you say something nice, I just want to know if I need to get my ears checked or not.
Casey: (shook her head and rolled her eyes)" definitely get those things checked, never know what's living in those things."
Derek: (is taken aback by her comments) "I'm sorry, are you saying that your house is dirty? (He questions with a smile.)
Casey: "No!" I'm saying that you're dirty" (she says matter of fact)"
Derek: (fires back) "but I live in your house, so that must mean that your house isn't clean.
Casey: (scoffs)" "My house is very clean, you are the one that doesn't practice hygiene" Casey says, getting angrier.)
Derek: "the ladies don't seem to mind." (Derek says smug.)
Casey: (rolls her eyes and crosses her arms, while also putting space between her and Derek) "that's because they don't have a sense of smell." Casey retorts
Derek: (laughs) "that was good" (Derek claps
Casey: (smiles) "But seriously, the food does smell delicious".
Derek (smiles mischievously, he takes his phone out of his pocket and stops recording) "got it!"
Casey's eyes grow big as she stares at Derek's phone, she reaches out to grab it, but Derek jerks it away just in time before she can take it away. Casey pulls on his shirt, pulling him closer to her.
Casey: (shouts) give it to me right now!
Derek smiles and lick his lips and chuckles as she keeps yanking him closer and closer, trying to yank the phone. She finally yanks him close enough to grabs his arm with the phone in it, Derek just laugh as she is about to take it and puts it in his other hand. She wraps her body to the other side of his arm to try to take the phone, Derek sees this in holds the phone up. Casey keeps trying to jump up to reach it up, but after several failed attempts, she tickles his under arm, so he can lower his arms. Once he does, she grab his arm and this time when he yanks it away, he drops the phone in the sauce. Derek's eyes grow wide as he looks at his phone, slowly descending into the sauce. Casey quickly takes it out of the sauce and wipes it with a rag, Derek snatches it from her and tries to turn it on with no luck. He quickly whips his head up to Casey in a panic.
Derek: you owe me a new phone!
Casey: (nervously) fair, I am so, sorry.
Derek: I don't want to hear it! Just tell everyone the food is done (Derek sighs sharply)
Casey stares at Derek and immediately orders him a new phone, overnight delivery, and then turns her phone off. Everyone sits at the table and begins eating their food. A few bites in, Casey announces to everyone.
Casey: (clears her throat and everyone stares at her) this year Derek is going to be celebrating Easter with us. (smiles)
The kids look at each other happily
Casey: and we put together a pretty amazing Easter egg hunt that not only the kids can enjoy, but the adults too.
The kids groan
Casey: no, no, I actually made it quite fun.
Luca: mom, your idea of fun is reading books and writing stories online.
Casey: I promise, you're going to like this one.
Skyler: you made the same promise when you planned our play date together. Kids our age don't need to do play dates, we just hang out together.
Casey: trial and error. But this egg hunt is going to be amazing! It's going to be like a spy mission! (she smiles excitedly) and we're going to have paintballs, you can steal other people's baskets and win money and prizes! ( she claps her hands together excitedly)
Derek: and you can invite your friends!
Luca: and had me at paintballs and money….but what kind of prizes?
Casey: you just have to wait to find out (smiles)
Derek: bikes! Motorcycles, PS5's scooters, hoverboards, drones and so much more.
Skylar: wow! That does seem like fun, and you're going to be there too.
Derek: if you want us there. The whole family is coming out, I wouldn't miss it.
Casey: me too! We're going to have a family round and then a round for you and your friends
Luca: I can't wait! This sounds great!
Skyler: we're gonna need a battle plan.
Luca: to beat our parents, I don't think so.
Casey: hey! (smiles) i resent that, we are not an easy victory.
Luca: mom, please. You're an amateur when it comes to my world.
Skyler: luca's right, your gonna be like putty in our hands.
Casey: at first I thought that we can all be on the same team but if it's going to be that way then fine bring it on! And just so you know, I could never be an amateur in anything I do, including crashing you two in this game.
Derek: and I see you improved your trash talking skills.
Casey: i had a lot of time.
Derek: and just so you know, this was my world long before it was your world and I'm undefeated.
Skyler: until now (smiles)
Derek: good one (high-fives)
Luca: got him! ( looks at casey) see how easy it is.
Derek: Luca and skyler, right now were its all pleasantries but on easter…. You will see why people call me the killer shark in the court room.
Skyler: ok,ok that was really good (high five)
Casey: (turns to Luca) see how easy it is. I have a very competitive side and your going to learn very fast, that not only is this my world too but I'm going to beat and prove to you that in your world, I'm the queen and you only excel in "your world" because I allow you to.
Luca: ok mom (smiles) why can't you show more of this side of yourself.
Derek: that's what I keep telling her.
Skyler: i think your life might be a little less stressful if you just let loose.
Derek: she doesn't know how to do that (Derek smiles and looks at her.)
Casey: true, but Easter is a special occasion (sighs) anyone up for a movie?
Luca: I would love to, but I have a game to get back to.
Casey: what!
Luca: I mean, I have homework to make up.
Skyler: and I told my friend I would call them back.
Derek: what friend?!
Skyler rolls her eyes and walks up the stairs
Derek: Skyler! Wait what friend?!
Casey: uh-oh!
Derek: uh oh what
Casey raises her eyebrows and stares at him knowingly
Derek: no! No! No boys!
Casey: like that's going to stop her
Derek: I'm going to go have a talk with her
Casey (puts a hand on his chest) you'll only make it worst
Derek: (sighs) I just didn't think it would start this early.
Casey: so, you want to watch something?
Derek: sure, can I pick?
Casey: (rolls her eyes) fine but nothing scary.
Derek: i can do that ( he smiles)
Casey: or gory, you know I hate gory.
Derek: i remember.
