Prologue - Yoshi's Millennium Item
Long ago when the pyramids were still young Egyption Kings played a game of great and terrible power. But these Shadow Games erupted into a war that threatened to destroy the entire world, until a brave and powerful Pharaoh and a brave and powerful Priestess locked the magic away, imprisoning it within the 14 mystical Millennium Items. Now 5,000 years later a boy named Yugi unlocks the secrets of the Millennium Puzzle, he is infused with ancient magical energies for destiny has chosen him to defend the world from the Return of the Shadow Games, just like the brave pharaoh did 5,000 years ago. But Yugi and the Spirit of the Millennium Puzzle won't know that destiny would bring them and a young girl together.
It was another normal day in the town of Saurusville in Japan where the people of town always have a roaringly fun day. Here we meet a young woman whose life has been rough for her and her cards. Here we have the local town's school called Saurus Elementary, where we see a girl sitting under the shade of a tree. Her name is Yoshi Rhysa Dinosaur but her friends call her Yoshi for short. After being orphaned when her parents died in a fatal car crash and her sister mysteriously disappearing, Yoshi had to fend for herself.
"Hey Yoshi!" Called one of her friends.
"Huh?" Yoshi asked, looking up at her friend who had blue hair styled in an ordango. Her name was Selina Sayama.
"Yes Selena?" Yoshi asked.
"Your cousin Dora asked me to get you." Selena said. "A package just came for you with your name on it."
"Oh it must be the new clothes I ordered." Yoshi said. Selina was really Yoshi's only friend at school. "See you tomorrow Selina."
"Bye Yoshi." Selina said.
Yoshi soon arrived at her house which was also a game shop and found her cousins weren't there.
"Cousin Diego? Cousin Alicia? Cousin Dora?" Yoshi asked. "Why can't any of them be at home when I get back from school?"
Then she saw the package that had her name on it and a note that read. 'What's inside has chosen you to be its holder. The item can't be replaced so make sure it never leaves you. Please keep it safe.'
"That's weird." Yoshi as she walked up to her room and then fell asleep on her bed.
Later at night she was awoken by a voice calling her name and the glow coming from the box. Curious, she got out of bed, walked to her desk, turned on the light and opened the box. Inside it was a beautiful pendant made out of gold with a strange eye on it.
"Wow this is beautiful! But where did it come from anyway?" Yoshi wondered, shrugging it off, she put the pendant on. She smiled as she thought she heard a voice coming from the pendant. Then the next thing she knew strange monsters started to show up.
"What the!" Yoshi gasped.
The shadows soon appeared and the monsters showed themselves as they roared. Yoshi gasped as they looked like creatures on cards of one of her favourite games called Duel Monsters.
"AH!" Yoshi cried as the monsters frightened her. "Get away! Shoo! Go home!" But the monsters managed to drive her to the corner of her room. "AH!" Yoshi screamed once more. Then the next thing she saw was her pendant glowing brightly and the monsters backed away slightly.
"DINOSAUR!" Yoshi yelled out, as the light engulfed her. Once the light had died down Yoshi had gone through a transformation. Well not like changing forms, she just grew several inches and her hair became much longer and smoother. The monsters growled at Yoshi in anger but Yoshi looked at them with a look of determination.
"Shadow Creatures begone! I command you!" Yoshi commanded. "Return to the darkness from once you came!" The monsters growled at her as her forehead glowed and then the monsters disappeared. Yoshi smiled before she turned back to her normal self.
"Huh?" Yoshi asked. "What was that about?" Yoshi wondered what happened. But she was so tired she climbed back in bed and fell asleep.
The next morning Yoshi woke up and looked down at her neck. She was still wearing the pendant.
"So it wasn't a dream!" Yoshi gasped. "It was real!"
Yoshi then went to her school, with much on her mind. Selina and her friends Amia Hanako, Reyn Hinao, Linta Kitoma and Minayo Asano could see their friend looking distracted.
"Hey Yoshi what's up?" Selina asked, as the 5 approached her.
"Huh?" Yoshi asked. "Oh hey girls."
"What's the matter?" Amia asked.
"Oh it's just…" Yoshi started. "Oh nevermind you'd never believe me if I told you."
"Yes we will, Yoshi." Reyn said.
"We're your best friends." Linta said. "We always tell you everything."
"So please tell us what's bothering you." Minayo begged.
"Oh alright girls." Yoshi sighed, coming to her senses. "Well you see last night, I got this pendant. But when I put it on all these strange monsters came out of the shadows and tried to attack me. Then there was this bright glow from the pendant and then the next thing I knew the monsters were gone. The strangest thing was some of them looked like the pictures on some of my Duel Monster Cards." Yoshi explained, retelling the events from last night and showing the girls her pendant. "Yeah I must've been silly to believe you guys ever believe a story like that."
"Wait a minute." Amia said. "Did you say some of the creatures looked like your Duel Monster Cards?"
"Yes, why Amia?" Yoshi asked.
"Forget about shopping later girls!" Amia said. "Come on, we've gotta get to school! Everyone meet me in the library after school, I need to show you something!"
So right after school Yoshi and the girls met Amia in the local library.
"Okay Amia we're here." Yoshi said. "So what did you want to show us?"
"It's this book I was reading the other day." Amia said, showing them a book that had Egyptian Hieroglyphics on it as well as some of the Millennium Items. "It's called the Legend of the Shadow Games."
"The Legend of the Shadow Games?" Reyn asked.
"What's a Shadow Game?" Linta and Minayo asked.
"Well, according to this book 5,000 years ago Egyptian Kings played a very powerful and dangerous game." Amia said, showing the pictures in the book. "These Shadow Games were powerful and they eventually erupted into a war that threatened to destroy the entire world."
"I don't think I like this story that much." Selina whimpered.
"It would've destroyed the world Selina." Amia continued. "Until a brave and powerful Pharaoh and Priestess locked the magic away in the Millennium Items." Amia showed the picture with the Pharaoh and the Priestess locking the magie away. Then Yoshi noticed something on the Priestess' neck.
"Hey, that looks like my pendant." Yoshi said, pointing to the priestess' pendant.
"That's because it is the same pendant." Amia explained. "Yoshi I think the pendant you're now wearing is one of these Millennium Items, and if my hypothesis is right I think the spirit of the brave priestess is inside the Millennium Pendant."
Just then the Millennium Pendant glowed again and Yoshi transformed again and appeared in front of her friends.
"Woah!" Selina gasped, quietly. "I think your hypothesis was right, Amia."
"So do I." The Spirit said. "Just looking at this book makes me wonder why I've been sent back here."
Yoshi then appeared next to the spirit siloetticly as she saw Amia was right.
"So that means last night wasn't a dream?" Yoshi asked the Spirit.
"No it wasn't." The Spirit replied. "Now I need to protect the world from the return of the Shadow Games."
"Well you can count on us to help you." Selina said, as Amia, Reyn, Linta and Minayo nodded their heads.
"Thank you." The Spirit said as she transformed back to Yoshi.
And with that the adventure begins.
Next time on the King and Queen of Games:

Minayo: But I thought Seto Kaiba was the best.
Cuba: Not anymore! I beat him and his pathetic Blue-Eyes White Dragons.
Diego: Alicia, Dora and I wanted to teach Cuba a lesson about the Heart of the Cards but we lost.
Yoshi: It's time to Duel!
Cuba: I call on the Gold-Eyes Golden Dragon!
Selina: Impossible! We all watched Cuba tear those cards in half!
Cuba: Did you think your Cousins were the only ones to possess a Gold-Eyes Golden Dragon Yoshi?
