Chapter 1: The Day
It was Monday morning, Reizo woke up with pitch black eyebags. He then washed his face and looked at the mirror "Oh, I played too much video game last night" he said. His mother was preparing his breakfast, He was still yawning because of the lack of sleep "Come here and have breakfast, you're already late" his mother said. After he ate breakfast he then packed up "Bye Mom, I should probably go now" he said and ran as fast as he could.
He was able to get inside school before the bell rang. When he got in his room, his classmates stared at him and his teacher told him "You're late Reizo, now go to your seat".
As Reizo walked towards his chair, Everyone was looking at him and started to feel awkward. "As I was saying, everything we see in our dream has meaning. It might represent fear, anxiety, sadness, happiness or being free…" the teacher discussed.
"Take note of that, It will be on the exam," the teacher added.
Reizo just slept and woke up later at lunch.
"Yo Reizo..
Haven't slept well huh?" Kenjie said to him while he was looking at him.
"Yeah, I spent a lot of time playing last night," Reizo said.
Later in the afternoon the bell suddenly rang "Alright, Let's continue this discussion tomorrow. Remember to do your homework" the teacher said.
"Reizo, may I talk with you for a minute?" his teacher asked.
"What is it sir?" he then replied.
"I wanted to congratulate you for winning the Programming Contest. You did a really great job!" his teacher complimented.
"Thank you sir, I was actually nervous to be the only one to represent our school" he replied with a smile.
"Well you worked hard on it" the teacher said and walked outside the classroom the same way as Reizo.
While walking, Reizo heard a familiar voice "Nice work everyone!" He caught a glimpse of his classmates at the open field. As they walk, they did not notice Reizo and just walked past him.
He got home his little sister Colleen greeted him,
"Welcome back big bro! How are you?".
Reizo just smiled at her.
"Where's mother? Has she already cooked?" he asked his little sister.
"Not yet!" she chuckled.
"What's so funny Colleen?" he asked.
"Nothing Really." she said
"You wanted me to cook, did you?" he then asked.
"Eh? I-it's not like you cook well, especially when you cook curry but yes, I want you to cook for me and mother" she smiled while looking at Reizo.
"Alrighty then" he said and started to cook.
His mother Ria was off to the supermarket at that time, Reizo was able to cook food for his Mother and Sister.
"I'm home. Reizo, could you help me a bit" his mother said.
Reizo quickly grabbed what his mother was holding "You're just in time, let's eat!".
"Mom, I want to go to a nice college school when I graduate in highschool" he said while eating.
"That was what I've always wanted, Reizo."
"But it might be a good decision to decide for yourself," his mother said.
"I wonder where…" Reizo said to himself.
The next morning…
He was able to go to school early,
"Have you heard? There will be a transfer student." he heard.
"Wait, Really? we're getting a new classmate?" his seatmate replied to his other classmate.
Reizo then sat down and studied his notes while he was thinking who could that be. Everyone heard the bell rang and the class started.
"Okay Everyone, before we begin our class today, I would like to introduce a transferee student, Aika Faye," their teacher said.
Everyone seemed to have a nice thought of her, she greeted everyone and introduced herself "Hello, How are you all? I am Aika Faye. We recently just moved here, I hope to make friends with everyone".
Their teacher then called Reizo "Reizo, Assist Aika to her new seat".
Reizo then showed where Aika should sit, which happens to be next to him.
"Oh we're seatmates" she smiled—"What's your name?" she added.
"I am Reizo. Nice to meet you. '' he introduced himself politely.
"Nice to meet you too!" she smiled once again.
Their teacher started to discuss their new lesson, and Reizo seems attracted by how intelligent Aika Faye is…
Reizo eats alone in the classroom but while he was opening his lunchbox Aika then grabbed her table and moved it near Reizo's table.
She smiled and said "Hello, Mind if I sit near you?"
Reizo then quickly answered "Yes, Of course".
"I noticed that you don't have many friends," Aika said to Reizo.
"I am not really a social person so…" he replied casually.
"I want to make friends with everyone but I choose who, whether they're a good influence or not.."
"Just for my own safety" Aika said while eating.
"Good for you then," Reizo said.
"Is Aika Faye here? I heard she was in this classroom." Someone asked at the door.
"Oh hey, Karin!—Come over here" Aika then waved and smiled.
"Nice to see you, Aika. It's been a long time!" Karin said.
"You haven't changed a bit" Aika said to Karin
"He is my friend by the way, His name is Reizo" Aika introduced Reizo to Karin.
"Friend?" Reizo wondered.
"Yes, Friend" she smiled while looking at him.
Reizo suddenly fluttered.
"Reizo, Her name is Karin, a good friend of mine," Aika said.
"Hello, Nice to meet you Reizo," Karin said to Reizo.
Reizo responded to Karin "Nice to meet you too".
As they sat down, Reizo and Aika continued eating and Karin started eating as well.
"It's so nice to see you here again Aika!" Karin said.
"We now live here." Aika said to Karin.
As they eat, they also have fun talking to each other while Reizo focuses on eating.
"Visit next time again Karin!" said Aika to Karin as she was walking and waved at them at the door.
"You got a nice friend there," Reizo told Aika.
"She's actually nicer than you thought," Aika replied.
"Hey, Do you want to come with us this Saturday? we're hanging out together" she added.
Reizo declined her as he said "I'm fine. Maybe next time".
"Hmm… Alright then." said Aika.
Karin walked down the hallway and saw a guy carrying a lot of stuff. Some things fell down on the floor and Karin picked them up "Here. Do you need help?" Karin said.
"Thank you, but I can do it alone," he replied.
"Oh okay, just walk slowly along the way," Karin said to the guy as he left.
Later in the afternoon…
"That's a lot of books there, Kenjie" Reizo said.
"Oh, Our teacher told me to bring them back to the library," Kenjie said.
While Karin was walking she saw Reizo talking to someone.
"Hello Reizo," Karin said.
"Oh hey Karin," said Reizo.
"Aren't you the guy from before?" she asked.
"My name is Kenjie by the way" Kenjie said introducing himself to her.
"You two met already?" Reizo asked.
"We've only seen each other," Karin said.
"What about you Reizo?" Kenjie asked.
"She's also my friend," Reizo said.
Karin picked up some books that Kenjie carried and turned the pages as Reizo and Kenjie were chatting.
Karin thought that she could study with Reizo
"Uh hey Reizo…" Karin said.
"What is it?" Reizo asked.
"Could we…" She said.
Aika suddenly showed up carrying some books while helping their Math teacher to the library. She then saw Karin and waved at her.
"Hey Karin! Reizo!" she said while walking towards them.
"Oh Aika, what're you doing here?" Karin asked Aika.
Aika then replied "Just helping…".
"Oh, I see. There were a lot of books there" Karin said while looking at the books she carried.
"Yup! Oh by the way, I need to go now. See you, Karin, Reizo" Aika said.
"Sure," Karin said to her.
"See you later," Reizo said to her.
"Oh what are you saying again Karin?" Reizo asked Karin.
"N-no, Nothing…" she said.
"Alright, we're finished, let's go home." Kenjie said to the two.
"I'll go later," Karin said.
"See you tomorrow then, Karin," Reizo told her.
Kenjie and Reizo walked out the Library while Karin was left alone.
"It looks absurd, He just met me but I've been admiring him for a long time now. I always look at him, whether he's alone or not. If it's not because of Aika, the two of us wouldn't meet. I've been thinking to talk to him before but I can't…" Karin uttered to herself while holding tightly to the book.
Day turned to week, and week turned to month Karin seems not to be as productive at school as she used to be.
"Hey Karin, Can I borrow your notes in Mathematics?" her classmate asked.
"Oh yeah sure," She replied.
She grabbed her bag on her seat and held her notebook.
"You're friends with the girl named Aika right?" her classmated suddenly asked while Karin was handling her notes.
"Eh? Yes, why?" Karin was curious.
"There's been a lot of rumors lately that Aika and Reizo are dating. My friend saw them, I just wanted to confirm if it's true since you're friends with Aika" her classmate said.
Her heart left in despair, she just smiled and said "It's not my business anymore y'know".
"Oh Okay then… I'll return your notes later" her classmate said and left.
"Not my business anymore huh?" she uttered to herself once again.
She then saw Aika and Reizo through the window passing by. She looked at Reizo while laughing with Aika.
Everyone was taking their break at lunchtime Karin headed to Reizo's classroom. She found him just sitting in his chair.
Reizo was reading his notes while taking his break.
"Hey Reizo! Someone is looking for you" his classmate said.
"Oh, I'm coming," he replied.
He walked to the door and saw Karin.
"Oh hey Karin, What's up?" he said to her.
"Let me ask you directly, Reizo. Are you dating Aika?" she asked.
Reizo was left in silence and looked at Karin.
"Why do you think like that? Not just because you heard rumors about us, you'll believe it. We know the rumors are about us and it's not true" Reizo said to Karin.
"Is that so?" she said.
"Reizo, I admire you a lot. It's been a long time, I admire how you do things alone." she confessed to Reizo and looked directly at his eyes.
"I don't expect anything. I just want to confess" she added.
"Alright, I hope we can continue being good friends," Reizo smiled and hugged her.
Karin held her tears as she enclosed her arms to Reizo.
"Yo Reizo!"
"You ready? we're next." his dance partner.
A huge stage with many people watching their performance, they walked to the huge stage while Reizo helds his dance partner's hands. Karin was in the front seat.
"You can do it Reizo"
"I'm sure you can, don't get too nervous, '' she said while looking at the two dancing gracefully.
A moment of flashback came to her mind, where she secretly cheers for Reizo in everything he does.
The school gate is open, students walking home while some of them are holding their school projects. Aika is waiting at their classroom door for Reizo.
"Aight… let's walk home" Reizo said to Aika while standing at the door.
"Got everything already?" Aika asked.
"Yeah, hey…" he said.
They walked down to the hallway while Reizo was holding Aika's school project. There was almost no one in the hallway and Reizo then suddenly told Aika about Karin confessing to her.
"Karin confessed to me earlier," Reizo said.
"I know… she told me she admires you before I came here. She just doesn't know how to talk with you. When I heard that I'll be in the same classroom as you, I took the opportunity to introduce her to you" she said while they were walking.
"Is that so? You're a great friend to her" he smiled and looked her in the eyes.
"She also said she just wanted to confess to me," Reizo added.
"Eh? I thought she was going to ask you for a date" Aika stopped walking and told Reizo.
"Aika, Even though she'll ask me to… I would feel bad but I wouldn't go with her. I mean, she's a great person but…" Reizo said to Aika and looked at her.
"Why?" she asked.
"You'll know soon" Reizo said and walked—Aika then followed him.
