[Music] Sweet emotion Aerosmith]
Gentlemen welcome to our weightless training facility a man standing in front of them said,
Harry AJ Chick and Rockhound suit up for underwater training with the help of Technicians then lowered underwater on a Cage, divers drag them to the shuttle mockup so we're going swimming on this asteroid is that what this is for? Rockhound asked thinking they were going for a swim Chuckled Ryan as he spoke over the comms headset monitoring their activities not exactly Rock this is a simulation for eva activity to help Astronauts learn how to perform EVA Extravehicular activity a term doing space walks in low earth orbit to perform repairs on satellites and deliver a payload to the International Space Station space is no joke it's dangerous when on a mission it can be very scary a Shuttle could suffer a malfunction on its guidance system even it's oxygen or life support is damaged in the event of an emergency but it's all in training what astronauts live for to train fly missions and survive to be a survivor what Ryan is teaching his father and friends for.
here in downtown NASA, we call this monster Armadillo Truman showed them as they walk in the hangar to see the vehicle they'll be using to drill into the asteroids faultline, turn up 800 turbo horses in zero gravity she'll be refitted for your drilling arm Quincy said.
mind if we take a look at her now Harry is eager to look inside the Armadillo All these rubber hoses gotta go, Max, Count 'em up.
Harry and the team begin going over items they may not need for the mission throwing them out on the floor make sure it's short throw shifters Chick popped from under the space tractor Qunicy! Harry popped out of the hatch throwing tools in the box on the ground by the wheels, somebody tell me what this is Harry showed a tool that looks like an Ice Cream Scoop Plastic Ice Cream Scoop. Truman and Qunicy looking at him probably not in their thoughts what that cost/? about 400 dollars he threw it by their feet making them jump out of the way.
the Armadillos are rolled out on the tarmac where C-5A Galaxy Cargo Planes the largest Plane in the world first flown in 1968 during the Vietnam War went into production service in 1970 and have been supporting the Space Program for years since, the Plane can transport Troops and large loads of cargo including Tanks anywhere in the world.
Harry and the team stand in attention in the hangar where 4 T-38 Talon Trainers used for spaceflight training are parked outside, as an Air Force Officer with three stars on his shoulders showing he's a Lieutenant General in the US Air Force one of the high-ranking officials in the Air Force, I'm Lieutenant General Rick Jameson this is the sorriest group of people I have seen in my entire Military Career your spaceflight's gonna be a brutal assault on your senses. I'm to give you a taste of that NASA's got some of the finest Pilots in the world they're gonna be sucking your eyes to the back of your heads I'm Gonna twist ya I'm gonna flip ya frap your body till your bones hurt when you squeal I'm just gonna go faster and harder. he finished.
the General turned behind him and waved his hand to Sharp and Ryan Colonel Sharp and Captain Stamper will be taking you to the skies they're gonna show you what it feels like to be in the Space Shuttle.
Sharp stepped forward we have 4 T-38s assembled and flight ready let's get in the Air, Pilots and Crew gear up in flight harnesses and climb up the ladder Ryan and AJ walk to his Plane his name and rank painted on the side of the canopy CAPT Ryan Stamper AJ rides backseat Ryan flies front seat the planes taxis to the runway each jet takes off into the air Ryan's plane the last plane to depart Ellington tower this is Talon 4 ready for take-off he radioed on the mask mouthpiece requesting an unrestricted climb to flight level 160 16'000 feet Ellington Air Force Base is the home for Shuttle Astronaut Spaceflight training since 1980 when the Shuttle Program was born and the Columbia STS-1 made its first flight in 1981 flown by Navy Captains John Young Commander of Apollo 16 and the Shuttle itself and the 6th flight of the program and Robert Robert L Crippen.
Talon 4 you're cleared for take-off runway 3-5 have a good flight Captain replied the tower controller giving him clearance for take-off Roger that he Acknowledged clipping on his mask and lowered polarized visor you ready back there brother-in-law? Ryan called over to his soon to be brother in law his voice sounding disoriented from the mask speaker, ready as I'll ever be AJ replied sounding nervous.
The Veteran Pilot pushed down the throttle making the Plane move forward the engines on full afterburner engines rambling can be heard over the loud engines from the cockpit. Ryan pulls back on the control stick the T-38 lifts off the runway and climbs to the clouded skies above.
you good AJ? asked the Captain looking over his shoulder and looking after AJ Yeah replied the Oil Driller his stomach feeling like he wants to throw up as the plane reaches 16,000 feet the plane levels in a safe flight.
I just want to seriously say I have a small fear of flying he told him a little afraid of heights you'll do fine partner Smirking the oldest of the Stamper family but get a load of this the pilot banks hard right feeling the thrill of excitement Ahh! AJ screamed Ryan makes a series of high g turns and barrel rolls he levels out Damn Ryan! you're good at this! AJ exclaimed thank you, Mr. Frost Ryan, called out his best friend's last name alright let's go home the plane heads back to Ellington lands, guided by Ground Controllers waving their flashlights parks next to the other planes that have returned.
how you feeling asked Ryan running his arm over AJ's shoulder it's alright I can get used to it he answered smiling Ryan chuckles.
sorry about the rib chucks all over your dashboard Max said helped by Davis and Tucker having thrown up during flight.
and that's the end of the chapter for tonight will update tomorrow or rather today have a goodnight!
