The door opened while Ezekiel, Carol, RJ and Judith entered the command center and the soldiers came to attention.

"Governor, I didn't know you were coming for a visit," Duncan Keller said as he walked closer. Duncan was tall with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a gray shirt, a black leather belt, black pants and black work boots. He was the former warden assigned to Oceanside and Ezekiel had decided to give him a second chance after talking with him.

"We're here looking for two missing people," Ezekiel said.

"Oh. Who are these people?"

"Daryl and Caroline Dixon," Carol said. She noticed the muscles in his jaw twitched as Duncan sighed and blinked his eyes.

"When did they go missing?" Duncan asked.

"It was a few weeks ago," Ezekiel said.

"Do you know where they were heading?"

"That is classified," Carol said. She noticed the look on his face shifted and she frowned. "May we see the logbooks for a Captain Trask?"

"Why do you need to see those?"

"He and his crew were the last strangers to be seen in Oceanside around the time our people vanished," Ezekiel said.

Duncan stayed silent as the muscles of his jaw twitched again and they waited for his answer.

"I could have Mercer come here with some soldiers to investigate."

Carol noticed Duncan's eyes slightly widening as she crossed her arms under her breasts and Judith and RJ folded their arms over their chests. Duncan saw the anger in Carol's eyes as he sighed, shook his head and he pointed with hands for them to follow him. They headed for the soldier sitting at the desk and Carol saw stacks of ledgers and logbooks on the desk.

"Martins, please show the Governor the logbooks for Captain Hank Trask," Duncan said.

"Uh, sure," Carla Martins said as she checked the spines of the logbooks until she found the right logbook. She removed the logbook from the pile when she handed the logbook to Ezekiel and he opened the logbook.

"What does it say?" RJ asked.

"Hold on," Ezekiel said with a grin. He looked through the pages until he found the final entry and his eyes slightly widened. "Damn."

"Ezekiel?" Carol asked.

"The Blue Dolphin was docked here a few weeks ago. According to this, they were here to pick up cargo from the Commonwealth."

"I don't remember seeing any cargo shipping orders."

"There weren't any," he said as he looked at Duncan. Ezekiel read the rest of the information then closed the logbook and Duncan cleared his throat. "Take us to the truck depot."

"Governor?" Duncan asked.

"I would like to examine the truck Trask used. Now."

Carol heard the small growl in Ezekiel's voice and Duncan seemed to be having a silent conversation with himself.

"This way," Duncan said and they left the room. The Commonwealth soldiers followed them after they had left the command center and they headed for the truck depot. Carol saw the trucks, jeeps and vans parked near the cement building and Duncan nodded to the soldiers near the entrance. They entered the cement building while he led them to the truck signed out by Trask and his men and Duncan turned to look at Ezekiel. "This is the truck they used. As you can see, it has been cleaned, the oil and fuel were changed and is ready for use."

Carol saw the back of the truck was open as she climbed inside the back of the track and she looked at the metal benches on either side.

"See anything?" Ezekiel asked.

"Hold on," Carol said while Judith climbed into the back of the truck and Carol saw she had a flashlight.

"I found it on the table when we came in," Judith said and Carol smiled. Carol took the flashlight from her then she pushed the button and the light shimmered on the metal benches. "What are we looking for?"

"Any sign that Daryl and Caroline were in here."

"Like blood?"

"Maybe."

Carol and Judith checked the back of the truck when Judith thought she saw something under the metal bench and she knelt down on her knees. Carol handed her the flashlight as Judith shined the light around as she saw something behind the back leg of the metal bench and she tried to reach for it.

"Aunt Carol," Judith said.

Carol knelt down on her knees when she saw something behind the back leg of the metal bench and she reached under the metal bench to grab whatever it was. She wrapped her fingers around what felt like leather and she moved her arm back. Kneeling on her legs, Carol looked at the leather, fingerless glove and she recognized it as Caroline's.

"Ezekiel!" Carol called out and he helped RJ into the back of the truck before he got inside. They walked to Carol and Judith when Ezekiel knelt down on his knees and he looked at the leather, fingerless glove. He recognized it as Caroline's. He stood up as he walked to the back of the truck and Duncan swallowed the lump in his throat after the cold look in Ezekiel's eyes.

The Commonwealth

Carol stood near the window of her office while she looked at the leather, fingerless glove and she wrapped her fingers around the glove. She heard the door open as she turned and Ezekiel walked in the room.

Duncan and Martins were brought back to the Commonwealth for questioning and Ezekiel had them placed in the holding area.

"Have they said anything yet?" Carol asked.

"Not yet," Ezekiel said then looked at the glove. "I don't understand is why Caroline's glove was under the bench? She doesn't like to take them off."

"I think she might have done that so we knew she had been on the truck," Carol said, looking at the leather, fingerless glove. Ezekiel hated seeing the sadness in her eyes and he walked to Carol, placing his right hand on her left shoulder.

"We're going to find them," he assured her. Nodding, Carol looked toward the window and blinked the tears from her eyes.

France – unknown location

The cart came to a stop while Luc jumped down from the driver's seat and he unhitched the horse from the cart. Daryl helped Caroline off the cart then removed the backpack from the back of the cart and they looked at the white brick cottage. Black stone tiling was on the roof and metal spike stuck out from between the tiling and along the top of the stone chimneys. The windows were covered with iron bars and dark wood shutters were on either side of the windows.

"This way," Luc said in French and they headed for the cottage. Daryl noticed Luc was bringing the horse into the cottage after he opened the large metal door and Caroline saw the chickens sitting on what looked like a sectioned off bookcase, a cow behind a stall door and a sheep behind a smaller stall door. "It's safer to keep them in here."

"Good idea," Caroline said in French.

"This way" Luc said in French after he placed the horse in the stall and he closed the stall door. He led them into the main part of the house after he had pushed the button near the large metal door, iron bars moved in front of the large metal door, and he closed the door.

The main room of the cottage was split into two areas. The kitchen area was to the left and consisted of a stone fireplace for cooking, a working refrigerator, a sink with a working pump, several cabinets on the walls, a kitchen island, a pantry and a room where the generator was located. The pots and pans were connected to iron hooks embedded in the walls and a chandelier was connected to the roof by an iron chain.

The living area to the right consisted of the dining area with a wooden table covered with a white linen table cloth, a blue ceramic bowl sat at the center of the table and four wooden stools sat around the table. Iron candlesticks sat on either side of the blue ceramic bowl and a red carpet was under the table and the stools.

There were two wooden bookcases with books and comic books against the wall, a child's desk near the bookcases, a blue carpet was at the center of the room and a couch and two recliners with a dark wood coffee table sat in front of the stone fireplace. Two windows were on the front wall and iron bars were in front of the windows. A chandelier was connected to the ceiling by iron chains and wooden beams crossed the ceiling.

Two doors led to the bedrooms and one of the bedroom doors opened. A little girl, age five, with dark brown eyes and black hair walked out of the room and she wore a white linen shirt, jeans, black leather boots. Her hair was in pigtails and she gave Caroline and Daryl a puzzled look.

"This is my daughter, Marie," Luc said in French.

"Hello, Marie. I'm Caroline. This is Daryl," Caroline said in French and Marie walked closer.

"Hello," Marie said in French then she looked at her father. "Papa, why are they here?"

"They are traveling and needed a place to spend the night," Luc explained.

"They're not here to stop the monsters?"

"The monsters?" Caroline asked in French.

"That is what she called the Macabre," Luc said in French.

"The monsters ate Jean-Claude and Mama," Marie said in French.

"That's my son and wife."

"When did this happen?" Caroline asked in French.

"Two months ago. They were out tending the sheep when Macabre attacked. I was able to kill the Macabre, but…"

Caroline and Daryl saw the sadness in Luc' eyes as they nodded and Luc sighed.

"Do you need help with dinner?" Caroline asked in French and Luc smiled. They headed for the kitchen while Daryl looked at Marie and she walked to him. She could just see the tattoos on his right forearm as she looked up at him and blinked her eyes.

"May I see?" Marie asked in French, pointing to his right forearm. Daryl figured out what she wanted to look at as he smiled, knelt down on his haunches and he showed her the tattoos.

The Commonwealth – the holding area

Duncan sat on the bed as the cell door opened and Mercer led Lance Hornsby into the cell. Lance had surrendered himself after the Commonwealth fell and Duncan stood after Hornsby walked to him.

"Hello, Duncan," Lance said.

"Hello, Sir," Duncan said with a nod. He noticed Carol and Ezekiel standing in the hallway as he cleared his throat and Hornsby noticed the anger in Duncan's eyes.

"Look, I am going to cut to the chase. You're going to tell me why Captain Trask was here, why did he take two of their people and where he took them," Lance said.

"You know damn well why Trask was here," Duncan whispered.

"Sorry. I didn't hear that."

"Trask was here for cargo. What the cargo was, I have no idea."

"That's not what Martins said after I talked to her."

"What?!"

"She told me you and Trask had a long talk, you then authorized the use of the truck which brought their people to Oceanside and allowed Trask to leave once they were brought onboard his ship."

"She's lying!"

"No, you are."

Duncan glared at him as Hornsby arched his eyebrows and Duncan snorted a breath of air.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Duncan said with a growl and Hornsby looked back at Mercer.

"Guess we're done then," Lance said as he headed for the doorway and he and Mercer left the room. Carol glared at Duncan before Mercer closed the door and Duncan sat down hard on the bed.

France – Luc' farmhouse

Luc had given Daryl and Caroline his son's bedroom as Daryl rested on the sleeping bag and Caroline was resting on the bed. Daryl looked up at the ceiling when he placed his hands behind his head and he heard Caroline moving on the bed.

"Did I ever tell you about Rocco or Doc?" Caroline asked.

"Nope," Daryl said

"They were Connor and Murphy's friends."

"How'd you meet 'em?"

Boston

"Can I look now?" Caroline asked while Murphy led her down the sidewalk and his hands covered her eyes. She did admit she was getting scared, but she was also excited.

"Hang on," Connor said as they stopped walking and Murphy lowered his hands.

"You can look now," Murphy said, sliding his arms around her.

Caroline opened her eyes when she looked at the door, the frosted window glass trimmed with multi-colored glass and McGinty's printed on the sign above the door.

"You brought me to a bar?" she asked, looking at Murphy.

"Not jus' any bar! This here is th'best bar in South Boston!" Connor said as he spread his arms out. Caroline laughed as he opened the door and they walked inside.

Caroline scanned the room with her eyes as they walked toward the bar and the loud music filled her ears while the cigarette and cigar smoke moved by her nose.

"Evenin', Lads," Doc said as he cleaned one of the glasses with a clean cloth and he smiled at Caroline. "And who do we have here?"

"This is Caroline," Connor said.

"Oh! You mean Murphy's girlfriend?! Shit," he said then a blush moved across his cheeks. "Sorry, Lass. I do that sometimes."

"That's fine," Caroline said with a small nod then she gave Murphy a confused look. "He knows I'm yer girlfriend?"

"Yeah," Murphy said with a hurt look. "Is that ok?"

"Yeah."

"I'm Doc," Doc said as he placed the clean cloth on the bar and he shook hands with Caroline. He watched them sit on the barstools when he picked up the clean cloth and smiled. "Now, what can I get you?"

"Three beers," Murphy said and Doc nodded.

Caroline watched Doc walk away when Murphy realized she was sitting on his barstool and he frowned.

"Somethin' wrong?" Caroline asked.

"You're in my spot," Murphy said.

She quickly got up as he did then he sat down on his usual barstool and he pulled her onto his lap. Connor snorted a laugh as he rolled his eyes and shook his head. Doc returned with the beers as he placed the bottles down in front of them and Connor paid for the beers. Caroline slid her left arm around Murphy's shoulders so she wouldn't fall off his lap as they drank the beer and Murphy grinned.

"Hey," made Caroline look behind her as Rocco walked closer and he gave her a shocked look. "Who's this?"

"This is Caroline," Murphy said.

"Your Caroline?!" he asked, looking at Murphy.

"That's me," Caroline said and Rocco smiled.

"Well… Hey there, Caroline. I'm David. Or Rocco, if you want."

They shook hands as Rocco sat on the barstool next to Connor and Doc walked to them.

"What can I get you, Rocco?" Doc asked.

"Beer," Rocco said and Doc walked away then Rocco looked at Caroline. "So, Caroline, Murphy told me the first time you met, you pointed a gun at him."

"You told him that?!" she asked, looking at Murphy.

"Yeah, I did," Murphy said with a hurt look on his face.

"Hey now. Don't get mad at him. He was just filling me in."

"What did he tell you?" she asked.

"You work at a motorcycle shop, you put up with their shit and you like sliced meatballs, mushrooms and black olives on yer pizza," he said with a grin.

"Yeah, I do," Caroline said when her right hand started to cramp up and Murphy saw her fingers were shaking.

"What's going on with her hand?" Rocco whispered to Connor.

"It's a long story," Connor whispered, taking a sip of beer.

"Did you tell him what happened?" Daryl asked.

"Yeah. I told Doc, too," Caroline said while looking at her right hand.

Boston

"Damn," Rocco said while holding Caroline's right hand in his hands. Her fingers had stopped shaking and he was lightly rubbing the back of her hand. "I hope someone killed her ass."

"Nope. She's still alive," Caroline said, moving her hand back then she placed the glove back on.

"Well, someone like her? They usually get what's comin' to them," Doc said.

"He's right," Connor said, sipping on the beer.

"Yeah, he is," Murphy said, wrapping his fingers around her fingers.

"Anyone wanna go play some pool?" Rocco suddenly asked, looking at the pool tables.

"You wanna?" Murphy asked Caroline.

"Sure," Caroline said.

"Let's go!" Rocco said as he took hold of her hands and he helped her to her feet. They walked to the pool tables as Murphy and Connor looked at the cue sticks on the wall and Rocco placed the pool balls in the rack. "So, how much are we gonna bet?"

"Th'usual ten a ball," Connor said, walking to the pool table with the cue stick against his left shoulder.

Murphy slid his left arm around Caroline's waist as they watched Connor take aim after Rocco moved the rack away then Connor used the cue stick to hit the cue ball. He shot three pool balls into the pockets when he missed his fourth shot and Connor frowned.

"My turn," Murphy said, letting go of Caroline. She watched him shoot the pool balls into the pockets when he missed and Murphy leaned against the side of the pool table. "Yer turn, Rocco."

"Nah. Let Caroline have a go," Rocco said, handing her the cue stick. Caroline looked at the pool balls on the table when she saw there were only two left and they were close to each other.

"Hand me the bridge," she said, holding out her left hand. She saw the shocked look on their faces as she wiggled her fingers and Connor handed her the bridge. She slid the metal bridge carefully between the pool balls when she took aim, hit the eight ball to send the other pool ball into the pocket. She removed the bridge as she took aim, gave Murphy a tiny grin then hit the eight ball into the pocket.

"Damn," Rocco said.

"Christ," Connor said.

"Lord's name," Murphy said as he removed the cue stick from Caroline's hands, placed the cue stick on the pool table then he slid his arms around her waist. "We got hustled, didn't we?"

"Well, my dad did take me to bars when we used to go on road trips. So, I might have learned a trick or two," she confessed and Murphy, Connor and Rocco laughed. Murphy gently took hold of the side of her head then kissed her lips and Rocco nudged Connor.

"Knock it off, you two. People are starin'," Connor said.

"Let 'em," Murphy said after they moved back and Caroline gave him a sweet smile.

"You really that good?" Daryl asked, glancing at his sister.

"When we find a pool table with all the balls and shit, I'll show you," Caroline said with a smug look.

"What happened to Doc and Rocco?"

"Don't know what happened to Doc, but Rocco was… He was killed."

"How?"

"He was shot."

Daryl felt Caroline shutting down as he remembered her telling him something bad happened and he nodded.

"Got anythin' else you wanna tell me?" he asked.

"I could tell you about my first time with Murphy," she said and he heard her softly laugh.

"No thanks."

"I'll keep it clean."

"Fine," he said with a sigh.

Boston

Caroline leaned back against Murphy while they watched a horror movie and she frowned.

"Why did she go upstairs? He's just gonna find her," Caroline said with a sigh.

"She's an eejit," Murphy said when she felt him moving the bottom of her shirt up and she turned to look at him.

"What the hell are you doin'!?" she asked. He moved his right hand back as she moved to the other end of the couch and she pulled her legs up.

"Sorry. I shouldn't have done that," Murphy said with his hands up in surrender.

"Damn straight."

She saw the hurt look in Murphy's eyes as she lowered her legs and she moved closer.

"Look. I'm sorry. You know Jesse chased away any guy that was interested in me, right?" she asked.

"Right," he said with a nod.

"Well, I can kiss and I don't mind snugglin'. It's just that I never…."

"Is this the part of our romance movie where I find out you're a virgin?" he asked with a grin and she softly laughed.

"Yeah," Caroline said then she lowered her head. "I guess you're not interested in me anymore."

"Are you kiddin' me?!" he asked. He moved closer when he lightly cupped her face in his hands and he kissed the tip of her nose before placing his forehead against hers.

"Ok. Stop," Daryl said as he felt a blush moving across his cheeks. He thought back to when he told Carol he was a virgin and how they were going to wait to finally make love. Caroline rolled onto her right side as she looked at him lying on the floor, placed her head in her right hand and she frowned.

"I need to tell you somethin'," she said and he sat up on the sleeping bag.

"There's more!?" Daryl asked.

"See, Connor and Murphy… They like to flirt."

"He cheated on you!?"

Caroline felt the anger coming from her brother and she lowered her head.

"Yeah," she said.

"What'd you do when you found him with someone else?" he asked.

"I confronted him then wouldn't talk or have anythin' to do with him. The longest time we were apart was two months."

"How did you get back together?"

"Connor and Rocco ambushed us."

"They ambushed you?"

"Rocco invited me over to his place fer dinner. Conner and Murphy were there. Connor and Rocco locked us in Rocco's bedroom. They wouldn't let us out until we talked. Once we made up, Connor let us out and Rocco order pizza."

Daryl snorted a laugh as she rolled her eyes then he felt her shutting down as he got up, walked to the bed and he sat on the edge of the bed,

"Did Benji cheat on you?" Daryl asked and her eyes widened.

"How did you figure that out?" she asked. She noticed the look on his face as he pressed his lips into a thin line then sighed.

"Just thinkin' about what he said in that dream we had. Sounds to me like he was cheatin' on you."

"He would laugh after I caught him havin' sex with another woman then he'd promise never to do it again. After a while…. He didn't want to have sex with me."

"I think Leah was havin' sex with someone while I was off lookin' fer Rick."

"Who?"

"Carver."

"Damn," she said then she yawned. "Sorry."

"G'night," he said as he got up, walked back to the sleeping bag, went to rest on his back and he yawned. They closed their eyes while the room became quiet and they soon drifted off to sleep.
