(Artemis POV)

I was walking though the bustling streets of New York when an ear-splitting shriek hit my ears. My bow appeared in my hand, and I broke into a sprint to the source of the sound.

When I arrived, I was greeted by a burning building. Instantly, I was inside. There was a woman lying on the ground, clutching a small, crying child in her arms. Six months at most. When she noticed me, she weakly begged, like she was barely holding onto life, "L-L-Lady Artemis, tak-take him. R-Raise h-him well. Take the book, too. P-Please." Then, I watched as the light left her eyes. She was dead. I took the baby boy from her now limp arms, and a small notebook off the floor next to them. I turned and left, on the verge of tears.

Not five minutes after I had left the appalment building, I saw another small bundle on the floor. I picked it up, and to my surprise, there was a small, sleeping girl inside, about the same age as the boy. There was a small piece of paper too. It read: Annabeth Chase. Born July 12th, 1993. I decided that I would take her with me as well as the boy and raise them as my own. I had always wanted a child.

When I returned to the hunt, I was met by mixed reactions. All of the girls were open to the girl, Annabeth. Whereas only about half of them seemed to realise that they could raise the boy, I still didn't know his name, to be a good man. They would warm up to him soon, I hope. I asked Zoë- my lieutenant- if she would mind the two of them sleeping in her tent till they were old enough to have their own. Zoë, much to my surprise, agreed happily.

The two of them were asleep, and I took them into my tent so they could sleep whilst Zoë could make arrangements in hers for the two babies. I then pulled out the book that the boy's mother had given me.

It wasn't long, but it told me all I needed to know. The boy was called Percy Jackson, he was born on August 18, 1993, his mother was Sally Jackson, and his father was Poseidon, my uncle. It also told me that Sally knew that Percy would have a strong scent, so she had married the most mortal smelling man she could find. Gabe Ugliano. He was awful. He had abused them constantly and was the reason Sally was now dead. When I got to the last page, a picture fell out. It was clearly Percy and his mother at a beach. I would give it to him soon. Then, I felt another godly presence enter camp. I did nothing about it until my brother entered my tent. "Arty, who are they?" he asked curiously. I was annoyed that he kept calling me Arty. "Firstly, don't call me Arty. Secondly, they are going to be my children. I'm going to adopt them when they turn one year old. If that is all, leave. Now. But first, swear on the Styx that you won't tell anyone without my permission first." It was an order, and luckily, Apollo took it as such.

Shortly after he left, Annabeth and Percy woke up. I decided that I was going to take them round camp, and individually introduce them to each huntress.

(Time Skip)

Once I had formally adopted both Annabeth and Percy, their appearances changed. Their hair was now Auburn, and their eyes were silver. If it were possible, they looked cuter now than they did before. My Huntresses seemed to agree as they started cooing at the two. I had also given Zoë the picture of Percy and his mother at the beach to look after for him. For the rest of the day, I watched from afar as Percy and Annabeth crawled around and babbled to the girls as they did their daily activities. It was just too adorable. It was then that Phoebe, Zoë's second in command came up to me and reminded me that eventually, I would have to inform the council that I had adopted two demigod children. I sighed. No time like the present, I suppose.

I picked up Percy and Annabeth and flashed to the throne room on Olympus before summoning the council. Once everyone had arrived, my father addressed me. "Daughter, why have you called this meeting?" He boomed. My two children began to stir. "Father, be quiet, you'll wake them." I snapped at him. "Wait, who is 'them'?" He asked, quieter this time. "They are my two adopted children. Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon and Annabeth Chase. I don't know who Annabeth's godly parent is, I found her on the streets, shortly after finding Percy, here. I called this meeting to inform you all that I have adopted two demigod children." At the name 'Annabeth', Athena perked up. "What, where did you find her? I thought Fredrick was responsible. If he dumped her there..." She seethed. I had to agree with her. Just the thought of a six-month-old girl being left on the streets sent a shiver down my spine. Poseidon's face paled, too. "Sally. Sally i-is-isn't gone. No. She can't be." I nodded glumly, not wanting to have to be the one to tell my uncle that his mortal lover was dead. Now a few tears escaped his glassy eyes. Zeus wisely decided to keep his mouth shut and not reprimand his brother for breaking his oath. Not in his current state anyway. "If that is all, council dismissed." Father grumbled. That had gone surprisingly well if you ask me. I was about to flash back to camp when I heard my annoying little brother, "Arty wait." I looked at him and snapped at him "What did I say about calling me Arty. Anyway, what do you want?" He looked a bit taken aback by my tone, but responded nevertheless, "I just wanted to bless them. If it's okay with you, I mean" I thought about his offer for a while, and begrudgingly agreed. He placed a hand on each of their foreheads and muttered a Greek incantation. Afterwards, the two began to glow, and I noticed their appearances had changed. Their auburn hair now had blond highlights, and their silver eyes now had blue specks. With that all completed, I flashed the three of us back to my camp.

When we returned, everyone cooed at the young pair like they had gotten cuter. Which, in my eyes, they had. I left them to 'talk' with the hunters, and lost sight of Percy for literally five seconds. Five seconds. Then I saw him- playing with the extra swords we kept. That was when I knew that this child would grow to be a warrior. Enough of that though. I snatched Percy up of the ground and he pouted cutely. Then I noticed how late it was getting, with the council meeting and everything else. I found Annabeth and picked her up, too, before putting them to sleep in their 'big sister's' tent. Zoë really was fitting that role well.
