Prologue
In-Between Flame's and Current's
The popping cry of a bow letting loose its arrow rang out. A thud soon after thundered. Tens to twenty gasps followed. A singular breath was released. Alexander's eyes opened seeing a courtyard of grass, the light of the sun, and a singular row of targets met to be used. He relaxed his posture and lowered his bow hand.
"Kyūdō," whispered a tanned adult male with gold eyes, the same as the practitioner. His body-builder-sized arms were crossed over his white collared button dress shot, and to his immediate left sat a woman and her son. "It's a martial art clearly, but the one you see here was made in the likeness of the old style. Its name was Kyūjutsu, and as it existed, was once used by the Samurai…"
The young boy who was twelve years of age breathed in once again and began. The eyes of the many people present watched the display with bated breath. The pressure was on the observers as anticipation began to build. When silence reigned once again, Alexander Grand performed Ashibumi, Dōzukuri, and Yugamae successfully.
"...He's so still…" said a young girl with brown short hair.
"...Strange isn't it? All it takes for him to make the shot is to hold his breath…" commented the husband to his wife.
"...Out of this world. Will he split it again…?" a teenage boy grinned at the possibility.
Perseus Jackson couldn't keep his eyes away from the show like the rest of the onlookers. He watched the tanned boy; his cousin Alexander, lifted his bow vertically. The whole thing was above his head. His uncle called it… Uchiokoshi… If he remembered correctly. He blinked his sea-green eyes as he drew the string and lowered the bow.
"...Uchiokoshi and Hikiwake…" the older man described one-for-one for his nephew suddenly. Percy in response looked past his mother and up to his uncle. The tanned man grinned back at him. "Then comes Kai," Alexander settled, achieving a full draw. "with the follow-up being… Hanare…"
A silent pop rang out as the arrow flew. Once more the arrow made contact with the target, splitting the previous one he launched down the middle. Silence reigned with Alexander entering Zanshin and finally Yudaoshi. The remaining body and mind after firing, and the lowering of the bow. He breathed out again after everything he had done here and now. Calmly and apathetically… the young boy's eyes looked over the crowd… feeling nothing.
"Still nothing…" he said to himself touching his chest. "I still don't feel anything."
