A/N:

This story is going to be a two- or three-part story! I hope you enjoy and look forward to the next part. The teaser is being removed but I will leave the information about Nigel being a Royal penguin. Also, Private and Nigel's names are Nigel and Prie Adelie. These stories that I do are not a part of the Private's Predicament universe. This story is a sequel to my first Uncle Nigel's Visit story. I really wish there would have been more than a single episode with the British penguin's appearance but alas, I have to make do with my own stories since there aren't many that have his return in them.

Disclaimer: The characters don't belong to me: Except for The Ghost and Genma. I make no money off of this story.

Summary:

Nigel's grip on the file in his flippers was tight enough that it crinkled the stock. To think that he was out again. After all these years. How? And how the bloody hell did he know where to find Pri?

A Visit from Uncle Nigel: The Ghost

Nigel Adelie slipped through the shadows, nothing more than a whisper, and a trail of bodies hidden away in nooks and crannies as the only proof he even existed there. The last thing many of those bodies had seen was a look of cold fury that they interpreted as Death itself having come for them. They wouldn't be wrong in their interpretation, the royal penguin had mused, distantly. He felt numb as he navigated the base he had infiltrated. He had meant to leave this life behind five years ago, and he had mostly succeeded, as nothing more than a nameless informant and consultant... Or so he had thought. He hadn't been a real issue for anyone, in or out of the agency after all. And yet, one animal just had to get cocky and steal from him. Already jaded eyes gained a fire of wrath behind them, making dark green now glow as he got closer to his destination. Closer to his nephew and the one who had been stupid enough to take him.

It had only been seven hours, but he knew from experience what could happen in less time. He prayed that Pri would be okay. Prayed that he wouldn't be too late to save the chick. Even if he knew that after saving his nephew, they would be mourning their old life. That probably infuriated him almost as much as having his nephew stolen away from him had. His sweet and innocent nephew wouldn't get to have a normal childhood- or as close to normal that he could provide considering what he was. Not after this. He would have to grieve for the loss of his nephew's chance for something semi-ordinary after he got him back though. Because his nephew needed... his nephew needed Agent Nigel right now. And he wouldn't' fail again.

Agent Nigel peeked into the room from the upper levels where he knew that cretin had his little one. And green eyes widened before narrowing dangerously. 'Oh. You will pay, you foul parasite.' Nigel swore in his head as an unmistakable feral fury took over.

-Present Day: Nigel's Office-

Agent Nigel started violently. His breathing was slightly ragged as he looked around. He was in his office in MIA6. It seemed he had fallen asleep. 'Guess running on fumes for 48 hours will do that to someone.' Nigel sighed, rubbing a flipper along his throbbing cranium. Then the door to his office opened without warning.

"Agent Nigel-" a voice began, only to end in a terrified shriek as a pen embedded itself several inches into the wall next to a young adult canine's head. Several other agents had rushed towards the scream, only to realize exactly what the situation was when they saw a newer agent on the ground from where his legs had given out under him in his shock. They then noticed the pen embedded in the door frame. And finally, the agent responsible for the Agency's shrink's newest patient.

'Poor rookie.' Many of them sympathized, as there were several agents that had learned the hard way to knock on Agent Nigel's door before opening it. Not all of them had been lucky enough to limp away unharmed.

"Sorry, Agent Ken. I should have warned you to knock before entering his office." An older penguin agent apologized as he helped the young canine up. Nigel himself looked apologetic at the situation.

"Er... sorry lad." Nigel apologized, approaching the duo.

"T-totally my fault." The canine whimpered. Nigel winced. Hopefully Private wouldn't hear about this. Not that he should, considering Nigel was the only agent Private normally interacted with from back in the agency.

"Did you, um... need me for anything Genma?" Nigel asked once the crowd had dispersed. The other penguin, a Gentoo agent named Genma, took on the task of handing over the file after sending the- now probably traumatized canine off with his fellow agents. Genma looked at Nigel and the royal penguin immediately knew he wasn't going to like the news about to be given to him.

"Perhaps we should discuss this in your office." He suggested to Nigel who reluctantly agreed. Once the door was closed, he began. "First, I should apologize to you... and Agent Ken."

"How come?"

"Because none of us from upstairs wanted to be the one to give this information over to you, so we sent off a rookie instead. That was cowardly on our part." Nigel's green eyes narrowed, and he hated the foreboding feeling building in his gut as he remembered his nightmare- the memory of one of the worst parts of his life, really.

"Please don't be what I think it is." Nigel muttered, voice a pleading tone Genma had only heard once before. The other flinched, already knowing what Nigel was referring too. Because he did. There was only one thing that Nigel could ever be referring too with such a tone, and those in the know, all knew it was anything that involved the agent's nephew. Who was, quite honestly, one of the most respectable agents Genma had ever had the pleasure of meeting, even if it had just been a few times over the years. Prie Adelie was not only respected for his ability to put up with Agent Nigel, unlike almost every other agent. But also, was respected for his ability to make the workaholic care for himself, and his ability to calm down a vividly feral mindset Nigel. He was also rumored to be the only animal Agent Nigel ever feared. Which just added to the young bird's reputation among the agents of MIA6.

"We just received the news." He replied, handing the file over to the slightly trembling agent. "He escaped two nights ago and is suspected to be..." Genma closed his eyes in hopes of building up some courage.

"Suspected to be... what?" Nigel asked. But both penguins knew what Genma was going to say.

"He's suspected to be headed to New York City... And we also have reason to believe he's targeting Agent Private." He cracked open an eye when he heard nothing for several long seconds. Only to step back at the cold look Nigel was directing towards the file in his flippers. He began to pray fervently in his mind that Nigel wasn't too far gone in a feral mindset that he might actually kill the messenger. And his message wasn't even finished yet. He hoped they would bury him next to his late partner if he was.

"I'll be heading out immediately." Nigel said. And the gentoo took that as his cue to flee. But he stopped at the door frame, hating what he was about to add. "What is it Genma?" Nigel demanded. Genma almost left then but knew he had to relay the newest orders in regard to... this.

"The higher ups have come to a decision. While the agency would prefer to have him back in custody... They have added 'Dead or Alive' to his file. Take that as you will, Agent Nigel." With that last exchange, Genma raced off to inform their higher ups that the job was done. He made a mental note to apologize to the rookie as well. And he prayed that Private would stay safe until Agent Nigel arrived. Because no one in the agency was under any illusions of what would happen otherwise.

Agent Nigel had tried to leave the agency almost 16 years ago, but they had been selfish, as Nigel was a plethora of knowledge and experience, and they didn't want to let go of him. So they forced him to accept non-active duty instead. The result? For the first time in decades, there had been a child soldier among them. Something the agency had sworn off ever having, especially after Agent Nigel who was the last child soldier to ever be in their ranks. Or the only one who was still alive that was. And the agency knew that if Nigel lost Private, especially because of this business, that Nigel would become rogue and would likely destroy all of those that had been involved in the actions. And that would send the entire agency into turmoil. Enough that MIA6 would probably fall to their enemies.

It was because of who it was that had escaped specifically, that the agency put the 'Dead or Alive' into his folder. It was a sort of atonement and maybe even a bribe, if one really thought about it. After all, he was never supposed to have escaped because of the danger he posed to the Adelies in particular. Maybe they were hoping that allowing Nigel the option to kill the biggest threat to his family without consequences within the agency would be enough to bring Nigel peace. After all, this was the main source of Nigel's unhealthy paranoia:

'The Ghost'

-A.V.F.U.N: The Ghost-

Nigel's grip on the file in his flippers was tight enough that it crinkled the stock. To think that he was out after all these years. How? And how the bloody hell did he know where to find Pri? All these questions rushed through Nigel's head. He had to calm down. Just remembering the bastard had him nearly feral. He looked through the file once he was sure he was calm enough to do so. When he read 'The Red Squirrel' he almost snapped. Because of course he was involved. It had been two months since Buck Rockgut had brought Penguin Enemy#1 in. And ten since he had escaped Nigel and Private's flippers. He had been relieved when that had happened, though Buck had to go through some extensive therapy after Private informed him that Buck had been brainwashed by Red at some point in the past. He was sure there was more to that story that his nephew hadn't informed him of. But he had let it go, simply because he was relieved to have the red devil out of the world and behind bars.

But... Both Red and Ghost had been kept in solitary confinement on opposite sides of the facility they were kept in. Particularly because they had a shared, powerful grudge against both Nigel and Private. And it was common knowledge to keep any criminals with a shared grudge against certain agents as far away from each other as possible to prevent this exact scenario. So, how had Red managed to communicate to Ghost about Private? He pursued the file for the answer and was furious when he read that some agent had been found to relay messages between the two criminals. It was an agent who had been extremely jealous of Nigel and his position within the agency.

He had, apparently, been trying to get further up the ladder, but kept being denied. Mostly for his unstable mentality. Why the bugger had latched onto Nigel, of all agents as the source of his misery, the ex-agent's assigned shrink wasn't sure. But she suspected it had something to do with Nigel's rather far-reaching reputation and some sort of twisted idolization... Nigel chose not to think about it any longer. The little brat had gotten arrested. Labeled as a traitor. And was currently being interrogated by some of their best to see how involved he was with Ghost's escape and how deep he was with Red or any other criminals. Nigel would leave it to them, knowing they were some of their agency's best. As it was, he had a plane to catch in an hour and a nephew to check on and inform of the situation.

Because Nigel sure as bloody hell wasn't keeping this from the lad. Not after his last attempt at trying to keep him unworried had failed so spectacularly. What with the result being his nephew's anger at not being in touch with him for three years... since he had left England, in any case. Having fought against him for the transfer to New York City. He scowled. He still wasn't taken with his nephew's new team, and still fully believed he was better off just staying with him. Nigel slapped a flipper to his face. 'Damn it Nigel, it was that sort of thinking that pushed him away in the first place. Don't repeat the same mistake.' he scolded himself. He had to do some last-minute work and make some arrangements. But it wasn't long before he was heading home to collect his stuff before he then made his way to the airport. It was sooner than he had expected, surely. But it looked like he was visiting his nephew and his new team once more. 'Well, I did tell them to expect to see more of me.' Nigel thought with a smirk. He would enjoy this... which aspect of the journey he was referring to was unknown to him, but he figured it would be quite a few parts of it.

-A.V.F.U.N: The Ghost-

Private and Skipper were patrolling the park that night while Rico and Kowalski patrolled the actual zoo. One of the cameras had caught unusual movement and Skipper wanted no penguin alone while they investigated the source. As Skipper was the most skilled and experienced among the team, it was decided that in the face of the unknown, he would be the one to have their youngest recruit's back. Straws decided where the teams patrolled. They would meet at 23:00 hours at the gate.

So far, things have been pretty quiet in the park. Which was the first sign that something was wrong. The park itself was never this quiet. Usually, you could hear crickets and nocturnal animals all around. The two penguins stuck to the shadows as they moved around the area. It was instinct that spared them from injury in the ambush. "Who's there?" Skipper demanded. He and Private were looking around them when there was a shift.

Out of a pool of moonlight came a large white bull ferret. He was covered in various scars and possessed one red eye. The other was a fogged and milky blue. He stood at about 3'5 inches and looked to weigh more than most ferrets did. Private eyed the ferret before a sharp gasp left him. The ferret chuckled at the sound. "I'm so thrilled that you remember me, little one." The ferret said in a dark, genuinely gleeful voice. Skipper put himself between the hostile and his youngest recruit.

"Who are you and how do you know my soldier?" He demanded.

"Soldier?" The ferret laughed. "Oh, how sweet the irony is that you joined his line of work. Especially with how hard he tried to keep you from it."

"Yeah well, all the credit goes to you, really. After you, he was worried that others could be a problem." Private replied, body wound tighter than a spring.

"Were they?" The bull ferret asked. Private's eyes narrowed and he didn't answer. But that was enlightening enough for the hostile. He cackled. "Oh, how I wish I could have seen his face when he realized what that meant for you." Skipper listened to the two animals' exchange and was getting progressively more and more impatient and frustrated. He was not used to being ignored like this.

"Enough! What is going on here?" He demanded. The ferret glanced at the penguin he knew, before looking back at the other.

"Did your soldier, not tell you?" He asked with a sly smirk. "Why, one would think your soldier would trust you with the dangers of his past. After all, you never know when they can come back and bite you." The ferret mocked.

"Hey!" Private was offended. "First off, I'm not alone in hiding secrets from the past!" Skipper didn't flinch, even if he felt the accusation in the statement as he remembered Hans and the danger the puffin had placed his team in. "And second off, it's not important when those dangers are supposed to be locked up in solitary for life! How did you even get out?" Private retorted.

"Red and the jealousy of others." The ferret shrugged. Both penguins tensed even further at the name, as though expecting the second psycho to pop out of the shadows. Skipper himself realized with that admittance that this mammal was a criminal. An escaped convict, more specifically. And one that his youngest recruit knew. He hated being in the dark.

Thankfully, there were no other psychos around to pop out at them. "Shall we start where we left off, little one?" The ferret asked with a sadistic grin. He pounced before either of the birds could answer. The two birds barely dodged the attacks as they slipped around the ferret. There were hits, and scrapes as they dodged fangs and claws, getting a hit in here or there. But it was mostly a no contact dance between the three animals that lasted many long minutes that felt like hours. "I'm impressed with your progress over the years Prie. I guess you have your uncle to thank for that?" The ferret asked with amusement. Skipper's eyes narrowed as he remembered that conversation all those months ago.

'Surely not.' Skipper thought with incredulity. The white ferret simply chuckled when Private growled at him. Just then, two shadows joined them in a defensive formation. Their team mates. 'Oh, thank salmon.' Skipper thought. He only faintly recalled the chime of the bell tower that had gone off during the fight.

"Oh, so you're in an actual team? How did you convince that paranoid, overprotective old timer to agree to that?" The ferret asked in surprise.

"None of your business." Private answered stiffly.

"Ooh. Touched a nerve, did I?" The ferret chuckled. "Anyways, I can see I'm a bit outnumbered here." The ferret noted. "Let's catch up later Prie. We have so much to discuss." The ferret purred before disappearing into the moonlight. And the team were left to the silence that remained.

-A.V.F.U.N: The Ghost-

"Private, who was that and how do you know such a brute?" Kowalski asked before Skipper could. They looked at their youngest who hadn't moved baby blue eyes from the place the ferret had just stood. "Private?" Kowalski asked, worried.

Private startled before looking at his team with wide eyes. "I have to get in touch with the agency to get some information. Let's go." Private said instead of answering his team's questions. Then he was belly sliding away much faster than any of them had seen him do before.

"Private!" Skipper hissed in surprise before sighing and the trio chased after him. By the time they caught up with the boy, he was already placing in the call with the agency, which had been taken by an older gentoo penguin none of the others recognized.

"Agent Genma!" Private said, causing the older to yelp and fall from his chair in surprise.

"A-Agent P-Private? Why are you calling?" Genma asked, getting his act together.

"The Ghost is in New York! Why wasn't I informed he had escaped?" Private demanded.

"So we were right." the penguin muttered before looking at the younger bird. "Er... we only found out earlier today. We already have an agent on it." Genma said cheerfully. Private scoffed.

"If you say that you put my Uncle Nigel on this..." he trailed off as the older penguin paled. "Are you serious?" Private asked in disbelief.

"We figured it was the best option." Genma replied meekly. Private rubbed a flipper down his beak.

"Uncle Nigel might kill him." Private replied. "Surely the agency knows this?"

Genma looked very uncomfortable when he next spoke. "The agency may have placed a 'Dead or Alive' notice in his file before sending Agent Nigel off."

"IS THE AGENCY INSANE!?" Private cried, causing the four penguins to yelp and take cover. "Uncle Nigel is already deadly without their permission. What the bloody hell do you think is going to happen when he's been allowed liberty in this matter?" Private asked sounding like he was on the edge of snapping himself.

Genma coughed a bit as he gathered himself back together. "Yes, well... The agency has taken all of this into account. We're hoping that it'll help provide Agent Nigel some peace of mind... closure if you will." Genma answered.

"And you truly think The Ghost will be the end of it?" Private asked. Genma flinched but didn't answer, causing the younger penguin to let out a frustrated sigh. "Alright then... Ghost says he had help from 'Red and the jealousy of others'. How did he escape?" Private asked.

"Agent Nigel has the file and is set to brief you on everything once he arrives. Which should be within a few hours, so early in the morning." Genma answered.

"Genma." Private said, making the penguin gulp. "Ghost and Red were kept very far away from each other- or they were supposed to be- to prevent this exact scenario. How did this happen?"

Genma sighed, giving in. "They were kept far away from each other. However, there was an agent that was jealous of Agent Nigel's position within the agency. He was acting as messenger between the two villains and is currently being questioned."

Private sighed. "Is everyone okay? I'm pretty sure he wasn't thrilled upon hearing the news."

'Ain't that the understatement of the century.' Genma thought. "Other than the rookie who almost died at the pointed end of a pen that Nigel threw at him, everyone's okay." Silence.

"I'm sorry, what?" Private asked with disbelief.

"Oh, he was passed out in his office when a rookie entered without knocking. You know how that goes, Agent Private." Genma replied.

"Only if he's been running on fumes for more than 24 hours! How much has he been resting? How many missions has the agency been sending him on?" Private demanded.

"Well would you look at the time." Genma noted nervously. "I have got to go. So much to do." He made to end the call, but Private's tone stopped him.

"Genma!" Private admonished. Genma scowled at his own slow movement.

"He's been busy, Agent Private. That's all I really know. I've been on my own missions. I'm sure you can ask him later." Genma replied with reluctance. "Anyways, anything else Agent Private? I do have a mission to get to."

"No. Nothing else. Thank you for answering my questions, Agent Genma. Be careful on your next mission, okay?" Private replied. Genma smiled.

"I will. Until next time Agent Private." With that last exchange, the screen went black. Silence reigned in the HQ as Private calmed down, making tea for him and his teammates.

-A.V.F.U.N: The Ghost-

"I'm sure Uncle Nigel told you he started training me when I was 5." Private said in the silence after his team each had a cuppa.

"Yes, he did." Skipper answered cautiously. "Because one of his enemies had captured you."

"That ferret we met tonight goes by The Ghost. He and my uncle have been enemies for longer than my uncle and Red have. 17 years ago, Ghost was thought to have been dead. One year after Ghost was declared dead, my uncle came into possession of me, I had been hatched for less than four months. He tried getting out of the business, having declared Buck Rockgut could be left in charge of the Red Squirrel case as he had just as much experience with it. Only a select few knew about my existence, the rest of the agency was told he wanted to retire for a while. Live a quiet life. However, there were some corrupt 'up and uppers' in charge who didn't know about me. And their reply to the story was that Agent Nigel was too valuable an asset to just allow him to quit then and there. So it was either: allow corrupt animals in power to know about me. Or to keep me quiet and instead offer to be a nameless consultant and informant to still active agents. I'm sure you understand how he came to the decision he had made?" Private questioned.

"I would've made the same decision." Skipper sighed, Kowalski and Rico nodded their agreement. Private smiled softly at his team before he continued.

"I was two when I overheard Uncle Nigel and one of his friends inside the agency discussing the situation when I was supposed to be in a lesson. I was three when I fully understood it." Private sighed warily. "Uncle Nigel was a bit peeved when he figured out that I knew, but it was too late then. So, he merely better explained it for me, to make sure I was careful and didn't try to do something on my own. There was even a plan being put into motion to dispose of the corrupted individuals. And, when I was five, the plan succeeded and the corrupted gone. The day before Uncle Nigel was going to properly retire from the game, and we were set to move here to the states, was also the day The Ghost captured me."

"To be so close... Only for..." Private's team was in shocked dismay as their hearts tore for Nigel and his situation.

"Yeah. I'm sure you can understand Uncle Nigel's despair at that happening. We had name changes, and everything set in place for when we made the move." Private shook his head. "I wasn't gone for long, but it was enough. After getting me back and locking The Ghost up, Uncle Nigel was worried about another enemy showing up. We discussed self-defense while recovering in the agency. I started learning... It never stopped because just when we thought we were ready to move, rumors reached us about one of his enemies being either close by or in the location we were going to go..."

"And you never moved. Never got out." Skipper finished. Private nodded.

"We officially gave up when I wound up getting involved in a mission by accident."

"'ow?" Rico asked. You didn't just accidentally end up in a mission. Never mind their fair share of stumbling onto missions.

"I had gone somewhere and learned about something that caused it to become a priority mission when I was six and I ended up playing a large part out of necessity to survive." Private explained. It had also involved some American agents on vacation that ensured the mission's success and his own survival at the end, when he had gotten caught in the crossfire when the criminals had turned on each other in the midst of the chaos. A certain Manfredi and Johnson, actually, though both of them had been sworn to secrecy about his existence and his part in things; Or more like Uncle Nigel begged them, as a desperate uncle or even father, as he had been the one to raise Prie, to not mention his chick's existence to even their team back in the states. They understood and took the secret of his existence to their many, many graves. But Private had never been sure how to mention that to his team. Instead, he enjoyed the stories of their endeavors that he got to hear from their team as he learned a bit more about them.

"I see." Skipper was lost in a thoughtful silence. "This certainly clears up a lot. Thank you, Private." Skipper said. Private looked confused so he clarified. "For telling us. I know it probably wasn't easy to do so."

Private chuckled. "I had honestly hoped it never would have come to light." He admitted. That was when they heard the bell strike 2 and they all were surprised.

"It's late men, and we have a visitor arriving in a few hours' time. Let's hit the bunks. We can discuss more tomorrow with... Agent Nigel." Skipper winced. While he had better respect and understanding for the older agent, it didn't mean he liked the other penguin. Rico and Kowalski he knew felt the same. And while they still didn't know the entire reason Nigel disliked them, nor were they going to gain his blessing as Private's team any time soon. They did know that they'd have to work together to deal with this threat. And they would. For Private.

They had no clue that Nigel was thinking the same thing from his own flight, after receiving a quick update from Genma that Prie had already made contact with the vermin that was targeting them. He only hoped that history didn't repeat.

A/N: I hope you enjoyed part 1. Like I said this story will be a two or three part story. Let me know what you thought.
