Serenity awoke from her perfect slumber as the sun peeked through the window and shone on the balcony. She still could not believe that she had won the heart of the most handsome man she'd ever met. She longed for him to kiss her once more; he truly meant his love for her.

She got out of bed to approach the vanity. She looked at her photos, which showed her as a baby being held by a man. That man was her father, whom she barely remembered since he had died when she was only ten months old. All she knew about him was his appearance from the photograph.

He had blond hair just like hers and was quite handsome for his age. The cause of his death was due to World War I; he fought in the war until someone shot him and he fell dead. She couldn't remember anything about the news or when her mother broke down crying. What if he were still alive? Would he be proud of his daughter for finding a man who truly loves her?

"Serenity! Endymion's here!" shouted her mother from downstairs.

"Coming!" shouted back the girl. He had obviously come just for her, and she was eager to talk to him. She quickly put on a pink blouse and skirt that reached down to her knees.

She brushed her hair quickly and ran out the door just to see her man. There, her man sat on the couch, and when she descended the steps, he glanced at her. She looked really pretty in the dress she wore.

Serenity sat down beside him. "Hello, Endymion."

"Hi, Serenity," replied Endymion lovingly.

She blushed at the fact that he called her by her nickname. He was truly a gentleman to her. Serenity's mother looked toward Endymion.

"Endymion, what brings you here today?" said Ms. Ingram.

"I came here for serenity," replied the man who thought that he would not be suspected of dating her daughter.

"Oh, right. As I said, you are welcome here any time you'd like, Endymion." Mrs. Ingram insisted to Endymion.

"We would like to go outside, is that okay with you, Mother?"

"Alright, Sere," replied Ms. Ingram. "But make sure you're not going to eat any raw tomatoes." Serenity smiled and nodded before leaving with Endymion for the gardens.

While Serenity and Endymion were walking towards the tennis court, Endymion immediately held her hand.

"Serenity, is your father here?" Endymion asked sternly.

"No," he said, turning to face her. "He died."

"I feel sorry for you." Endymion placed an arm around her waist.

"I don't remember him at all except for his face, which I only know from a photo."

Serenity then strolled towards the tennis court.

"I remember your dad a bit. It was definitely him; he looked almost exactly like you. I was two years old when he came with your mother and my father. Both of them had fought in the First World War."

Endymion caught up with Serenity, and they headed towards the tennis court. They grabbed their rackets and began playing tennis for a while.

"Do you have any siblings, Endy?" Serenity smacked the ball with her racket towards Endymion.

"Yeah, he's six years older than me, why?" Endymion asked as he took the ball from her.

"Someone mentioned that you have a brother," replied Serenity, who was focused on hitting the ball.

"Yeah, I don't want to get into that topic right now." Endymion threw the ball back, but Serenity missed catching it.

"I really want to play with your cat for the reward," Endymion whispered.

"Fine," scoffed Serenity. The couple returned to the manor and had some tea.

"Sere, your cat is so cute; I just want to take it home." Endymion joyfully told Serenity while petting the brown cat.

"Her name is Choco," replied Serenity.

Endymion walked up to Serenity. "Earlier today, I bought some sweets for you." He then handed her a box of sweets.

"Thank you," said Serenity. Endymion then kissed her hand; she was flushed with surprise. He wasn't cold or arrogant towards her.

"Endymion, it looks like your brother is calling you!" Ms. Ingram shouted.

"Farewell, my love," Endymion said as he left the room for the car. Serenity caught a glimpse of Endymion's brother as he walked by. He looked similar to Endymion, but he seemed much older. He had black hair and wore glasses.

"Who's that woman, Endymion?"

"Oh, that's my friend," Endymion replied softly.

Endymion was shocked; he didn't want a man like him to marry the girl he loved the most. He vowed to himself that he would protect his girlfriend from a monster like him.
