Chapter 3: What a Surprise!

So Ash and Akane both went back to their homes to say goodbye to their families and show them their new partners. I also went to my home to tell my mother which Pokémon I chose and said goodbye as well as picked up my bag pack. My house was a bit away from the Professor's Lab. Akane's house was near mine. And Ash's house was a bit farther than mine; although it wasn't that far, you had to walk for about twenty minutes to reach it.

The first thing I did after reaching home was to show my mom my new partner. She was quite surprised to see that I chose a Fire-type. The two closest Pokémon Gyms are Rock and Water types. Although Fire types aren't a bad choice, it's still difficult to beat them. Most trainers who start their journey either choose Squirtle or Bulbasaur. It's easy for them to win in those gyms since they can take advantage of the weaknesses of both Rock and Water types. However, the fact that new trainers have to go through the Valorian Forest makes choosing Squirtle the best option.

After saying goodbye to my mom I started walking towards the village entrance to wait for Ash and Akane. When I got there, Akane was already there waiting for us and Ash wasn't there yet. "Hey Akane," I said. "Ash isn't here yet." She looked at me. "I just got here and when I arrived I didn't see him. Maybe he's taking longer than us." She replied. I just nodded in understanding.

After some time, she asked me, "Hey Hiro, why did you give your Charmander that nickname?" I looked at her. "Well, its first name came into my mind after seeing her. What's wrong with it?" I asked her. She just shook her head. "No, I just wondered it reminded me of something." "Okay then," I replied. "I also felt that way when you gave your Bulbasaur nickname." Now I was very curious about her. First, I didn't know anything about her character because she never appeared in the anime. Then, she also gave her Pokémon nickname, which I kind of recognized from my old life. And now, she was kind of suspecting me for my choice of nickname for my partner. What if she was just like me? I mean, I was here, so it was possible for someone else to be here as well. But I didn't know for sure, and I couldn't just ask, "Hey, do you happen to be from another world?" I would sound crazy if I said that.

After some time thinking I came up with a plan. "Hey Akane, we are waiting for Ash here, so until he comes, do you want to play a game?" She looked at me suspiciously. "What type of game?" she asked me. "Well, it's very simple. I will name a type and you have to tell me which Pokemon you think is the most powerful in that type in Kanto." She thought about it and nodded. "Okay, let's do this. Ghost type," I said. "That's easy, it's Gengar," she replied.

Okay, Dragon type. It's Dragonite.

"Normal type, I think it's Snorlax."

"That bug looks like a Beedrill to me."

"The rock type is Onix."

Fighting-type: I think it's Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee.

" Water type. It's Gyarados!"

Poison Type: It's Muk.

" Ice Type: "Obviously Articuno, it's legendary."

"Fire type, Moltres."

" Electric-type. It's Zapdos!"

"Psychic type? It's Mewtwo... I mean, it's Mew."

As I thought she knew about Mewtwo. She shouldn't. "What were you going to say? You changed your answer at the last minute." Now she looked nervous and said, "Nothing really, I thought no one had ever seen Mewtwo so it's the right answer. Maybe he doesn't even exist you know."

"Are you sure you weren't going to say Mewtwo?" I asked. "Of course not," he replied. "Wait a minute...how do you know about him?" she asked, now shocked that I knew.

"Let's introduce ourselves again... Hello, my name is Katashi Nakamura. Nice to meet you." She looked surprised, but soon I think she understood what I was talking about and replied, "Nice to meet you too, Nakamura-san. My name is Mira Sukibana." I looked at her for a moment before saying, "So, I take it that you are also reincarnated here?" "Yes, indeed," she replied. "Oh man, I thought I was the only one who had been reincarnated here, and I was some kind of main character in a story. But now that you're here, maybe that's not the case..."

Then I looked at her again and smiled. But I was glad I wasn't alone here. By the way, when did you reincarnate here? She replied, "Just the day before I got my Pokémon." "Man, you're lucky," I said. "I had to wait for an entire month."

We continued cuddling like that for a while, catching up to each other.

After some time, I noticed something wasn't right. I mean, we were waiting for Ash to come for almost an hour, but he didn't show up. So, we decided to go to his house and check on him. We had to admit that his house was a little far from the entrance. It took us almost 15 minutes to reach his house. We gently knocked on the door. After some time, Ash's mother opened the door. She looked at us and somehow confusedly asked, "Hello there, Hiro, Akane, aren't you two supposed to be with my son? He left about half an hour ago. And he also told us that you two would be going with him too. Why are you still here?" We both looked at each other. Auntie, we were waiting for Ash to come over, but he never showed up. She looked somewhat worried and then smiled creepily before replying, "Maybe he got excited and went ahead of you. And Hiro, who am I calling 'auntie'? I'm not that old yet."

I nervously nod, "Sorry Ma'am." She smiles again, "Okay, take care of yourself. I don't want to stop you here any longer than I have to."

I know you both are very excited to start your journey and she left to go back to doing her work at home.

After she left, I exchange looks with her. "Do you know what happened with Ash today?" I asked. She nodded. "We have to move fast," she replied. And with that, we both left to help Ash.
