"Where am I?" The boy asked, looking around to see an intricately built structure about him. There were white pillars and red trim, a series of beds near him. He tried to sit up, only for warm hands to stop him.
"Boy, you are not ready to get up, your injuries were vast." he turned and saw the man, a tall man with a very oblong shaped head. He had an air of command about him and the boy felt intimidated by it. The man must have noticed this, as his eyes softened. "I am not yelling at you, I am simply worried you will harm yourself."
"Oh,... thank you." He muttered, "Where am I... who am I, actually? I cannot really, remember anything." He focused, and found nothing in his head, it was an empty expanse of noise. Oddly, this didn't bother him, something in him screamed that this was a good thing.
The man sighed. "We found you in one of Orochimaru's bases, alone and wounded and emaciated. We believe that you were an experiment of his, which would explain your lack of memories. You are so young, and trauma can extinguish or suppress memories."
The boy nodded. "Do you know my name at least?"
"Not at all, but we can give you one at the least? Hmm... you are blank slate, a mirror for change and possibility... so perhaps, Kagami?"
The boy, Kagami, smiled. "I like that... thank you."
"I am Chiruku, head of the Land of Fire's Ninja Monks. Speaking of, this place is the infirmary of the Ninja Monks. We are ninja, as you would know them, but we honor a different code."
Something in the boy, Kagami, burst. "Can I be a ninja monk, I know, from the little I can remember, that being a ninja was important to me!"
There was a pause, and Chiruku nodded. "I could see you being a monk, but you have to honor our code. We will get to that later. You are going to be in the infirmary for at least a week. I will have student Sora bring you books and scrolls on our history, and culture and so on while you recover, bring you up to speed while you are here. Sound fair?"
"Sounds great, thank you... Uzumaki." They both froze and Kagami explained. "I heard that in my head, my family name, it was Uzumaki." he felt a rush, painful as it was, with that single word... Uzumaki brought him pain, and sadness so intense it was hard to not cry at it's mention.
Chiruku didn't notice this. "Kagami Uzumaki it is then... now, rest, child and I will have your study materials brought here soon."
And as the man left, Kagami turned and found a mirror, his face finally visible. He was thin, weak and sad looking, with sunken in cheeks, spikey long blonde hair and orange eyes. He looked odd, sickly and worn down... and yet he smiled. " I am alive, and I will make it ..." And that was everything.
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a joy to write.
