I am trying something different, a drastic change in story instead of just a small ripple... so there is that, I haven't that since my og stories... so yes...
"Here's your stuff." Sora tossed a pile of books and scrolls at Kagami, scowling at him as if he was a huge disturbance.
Kagami flinched, knowing internally that he had been given that look before. A lot, and he hated it. "Thank you, you must be Sora?"
"Duh."
"No need to be rude, I literally had no choice but to exist here."
The boy flinched back and sighed. "Sorry, I am not... I don't mean to be rude, I just put my foot in my mouth a lot. Let's start over. I am Sora, Apprentice of Chiriku."
That made Kagami smile. "I am Kagami Uzumaki, student monk I guess... that is all I know."
Sora sat at the foot of his bed, looking apologetic. "I heard you have no memories. Is that true?"
"Yes, sadly, but I also know that I may not want my memories. Chiriku suggests that I was an experiment of Orochimaru. I remember enough to know that the memories I may have hiding in my brain may be horrifying. I remember who Orochimaru is, my memories feel... spotty. I thought it of after he left."
"What else do you remember, if you don't mind?"
"I know I was hated a lot. I can remember that clearly, horrible eyes one me... hurting me, hating me... for nothing I did. It is clear, so focused but I only remembered it when you looked at me so irritated."
Sora flinched. "I get that look a lot, the monks here hate me too... I can't, for the life of me, figure out why."
Kagami grabbed his arm, which he realized was bandaged. "Then we will work through it together, no one deserves it, to deal with that. I remember enough for that. We will work together to overcome whatever pointless hate comes out way."
That made Sora finally beam. "YEAH! Together, that would be great!" And like that, a friendship was born, of the hate of the past... and a promise for a far better future. "So, why don't we work on your scrolls, there are a lot of pointlessly big words and some of the scrolls are out of order. Oh and two scrolls are on our taijutsu, they said you are healing oddly fast, given your Uzumaki blood, so you should be able to train physically in a week or so. Maybe sooner, who knows."
"I hope so, I know I am oddly easily bored..."
They both laughed. "Preach it."
:::
Three days later
"Easy now!" Sora said, trying and failing to help Kagami out of the hospital. "You need to relax, they let out out but you cannot just run into training!"
Kagami turned and beamed at his buddy. "I know, but I cannot be in there one more minute."
Chiriku, standing behind them, laughed deeply. "I am glad you two are friends, it is entertaining to watch you both." He could never express how good Kagami was for Sora. No judgement, always working on their training together and hanging out. It brought out Sora's softer, more reasonable side that just eased him up. He had worried he would never see that part of his beloved pupil.
Speaking of Kagami, he had healed up on a tremendous scale over the last few days. He had gained ten pounds of much needed weight, rounded out his emaciated face and giving him life. His chakra had spiked from the mediation and reading, giving his incredible physical chakra a balance it had lacked. Kagami would be a power house soon enough, and they all knew it. His body had entirely recovered his injuries though not the starvation. He would likely be fully healed in a few days, and in great shape in a month. He had healed that fast, it was remarkable.
His chakra was an entire subject all it's own though, he had started with low jonin level reserves but just from reading and mediating it had gone to solid jonin level and much more fluid. Meditation was key to strengthening your power, and learning strengthened the spiritual chakra. Mixed with the boy's naturally massive physical reserves, and you had incredible potential. The boy had read half of a dictionary, three scrolls on taijutsu, four on history and six on culture, diet and morals/ethics. It was a lot and the boy devoured it all, boredom was a powerful force indeed.
"Sora, why don't you show him the basics katas from his scrolls. See if his stamina holds out, be patient though... and then, after he is tired, show him through our monastery."
And like that, Sora did as he asked, excited as all get out. He watched for a while as Kagami moved through the katas fluidly, showing that either he was a genius or he had training... which added to Chiriku's theory that the boy was a captured genin. He pitied his past, but hoped for a greater future with them...
:::
A Month Later
Kagami adored his life, even if it was a tad boring at times. He woke up, did his cleaning and chores, ate, worked out with Sora, read or mediated, and just had a blast. He would hang out with Sora for hours, and a real brotherhood formed between them. One of defense of the other, and hatred of their past. It was also in their love of combat, both excelled physically and mentally. Kagami quickly mastered the Monk's taijutsu style, realizing he had fought before, and easily incorporating it into his own abilities. Chiriku called him a natural, when after only two weeks he managed to best Sora, even if it through underhanded tactics. Sora was happy for him, and they just got on better.
Then, things got even better as exactly one month after waking up, he was given a proposal. "Kagami, it is time we start to get you acclimated as a ninja monk. We will be teaching you sealing and your element." Chiriku said, pleased and proud.
Kagami beamed. "Can I also learn healing jutsu? I mean we have on medic, and I was amazed by how easily they managed to heal me and I was a mess." He pointed to the medic, healing Sora's bruised face from their recent spar. "That makes me happy!"
"I can see if we can start that... for now, take this chakra paper and funnel your chakra into it. I know you've read on it. You should know what each sign means."
Kagami obeyed and beamed once more. "Sweet, a wind element like Sora, he can educate me as well!"
"Fortunate indeed! Now, you can start immediately, I will speak to our medic about giving you lessons. Three days a week instead of your normal chores. You have to be dedicated, am I clear?"
The boy nodded. "Crystal, sir!"
"Good... now, go tell Sora the good news."
And so he did...changing the course of his life for the next five months... and even further after that.
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews..
I am skipping a lot because it is 99% training and that would be boring..
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
