Why am I rewriting Kagami? Simple, the og story was great but it was just fight/training scenes with no needed fluff or interesting scenes. I wanted to correct that... to flesh out and show not just tell. I am trying to make the best product possible, and this is my attempt at that. Plus Kagami was waaaay too cocky in the last story.
I am also not making them siblings. I realized how bad I was at making them brothers and showing the changes there in...
The day before Team Assignment
"Brrrr!" Ren muttered as he stacked the last box in the freezer. "That should be it." He turned on heel and marched out, walking towards his boss, Kagami Mikumo who was sitting in his office just by the freezer section of the store he worked in. "I finished Kagami."
The man, a heavy set bastard with a beard and air of greed and roughness, smiled at him. "Well that's that, nice to have been working with you." He handed him his money, under the table as always since no one wanted to hire Kagami for damn near anything. Even if the man was a cheap bastard that underpaid Kagami majorly, he still got enough money to buy extra ninja things. "See ya around, kid."
"See you around, Kagami," satisfied, he hurried away, to the cheapest and least biased shop in Kohona. It was about six streets over, in the poorest district of the Leaf. He happily would pay them, they actually accepted his money and never overcharged him for his patronage. Within ten minutes he left with a tanto, gray handled and in moderate condition, a scroll of basic kenjutsu and a set of old weights.
Why did he buy these things, especially the day before he was set to become a ninja? Well that was easy, he didn't trust any of the idiots of the Leaf to actually train him. For whatever reason he was hated by the village. He and another boy named Naruto, both of them victims of some unknown Curse of Hatred that seemed to inflict all that looked at them with loathing and vitriol. He had been attacked by shop owners, had rocks thrown at him and denied at restaurants. He could never figure it out, but he knew it burned out any love he had for the Leaf years ago.
'But that is fine with me, I will do everything myself, I cannot trust anyone but I can trust me... and I will be great as I am.' And so set his plan, to become great on his own, and ensure he had good training even if he was given a piss poor sensei... it was all he could do to ensure he was given a real chance at life...
And no one would stop that, not even that idiot Hokage!
Sighing, he looked up at the burgeoning night sky. " I wish I could help you too, Naruto but someone has to look out for me and frankly that is a full time job as it is..."
Never did he know that, at that moment, Naruto was stealing the Scroll of Sealing and graduating out of sheer luck, destiny and happenstance... setting the stage for ancient conflicts to come.

The Academy- the day of Sensei Assignment
'How the hell did he get to graduate?' Ren asked himself as he looked at his Naruto, cocky and rude as always. 'I know he failed, he never studies and he refuses to actually learn and improve. How the hell did he actually pass, something is up. Whatever, it's not up to me, Naruto is on his own...'
It sucked, but Ren knew early on that despite their similarities, it was not safe to help Naruto. Life was bad enough to one of them, helping Naruto would only drag him down... no, he had to care for himself first and foremost.
Besides, he wasn't exactly fond of Naruto. He was loud, lazy and rude... he chose pranks over training and for whatever reason was allowed to get away with murder. Ren knew he'd never be able to do that. It was a simple reality that he was accustomed to, and one he hated.
That didn't matter though, he would reclaim his life as only he could, and one day... he'd leave the Leaf, and no one could stop him...
That was his dream and it would happen. He'd make sure of it.
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a joy to write.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
