The Village hidden leaves, the de facto superpower of the elemental nations, it is said that the walls of Konoha have never been breached. But there is a first for everything and that first time would always be special. A career chunin named Soseki is currently doubting his life choices. He never thought he would face this monster, even in his wildest dreams. The nine-tailed demon fox, the strongest-tailed beast howled and his hate-filled eyes are enough to stun ninja like him. Disregarding the ninja around it, the beast is in the process of utterly decimating the Konoha. Its mere movement sent a couple of buildings falling.
"Oi Soseki, Don't stand there and stare at it, go and check for survivors, the jonin will take care of that." as sooner did his team leader say that a squad of elite ninja under Third Hokage rushed to face the fox. Soseki came out of the stupor and with a team of genin under him, went to the ground zero. It first appeared in the civilian area, as if it knew that ninja concentration is low there. It demolished the buildings by swishing its tails and went on a path of destruction leading to the center of the village.
He reached the position and checked the surroundings. He noted the buildings are small and made of bamboo, bamboo being a cheaper alternative for people living in these slums than wood. He ordered the genins to clear the ruins and help with survivors whose count is more than expected. In situations like this, the leading cause of death is getting crushed by debris. Since the houses are made of bamboo that factor is significantly reduced.
"Listen everyone" He called out to all survivors that were rounded out "Please follow the ninja, they will escort you all to the shelter, please remain calm and call out if you have any serious injuries. Prioritize children and elderly" He gave them the instructions he learned in drill class.
"Taichou, this lady here is in critical condition" he heard a call from one of the genin. He rushed there as he knew a bit of field medicine. He saw a lady that is weakly holding a baby amidst the ruins of a relatively better-looking building. On closer look, he saw that a sharp bamboo impaled her in her solar plexus. He immediately understood that he cannot remove the splinter as she would bleed to death. The bamboo is attached to a bigger frame making it difficult to carry it along with her to the medical camp. Exhausting all alternatives, Soseki understood that woman does not have long to live. He kneeled beside her and called out to her. His actions and voice caused the woman to look at him. The woman has high cheekbones, dirty blonde hair, and smooth skin that lost its color. Her dark eyes struggled to gain clarity from the blood loss. " Please .. take him to safety," She said between labored breaths after glancing at his headband. She gave a weak smile when he gently took her baby from her arms to not wake the baby up.
He looked at the baby and quickly noticed that it is awake. He noted the baby's pale blue eyes are looking at him with curiosity, It looks like the baby is confused by his new face. The woman gathered her energy once more to say, " Akira, His name is Akira Ma…" the woman couldn't finish her sentence and the baby as if noticing something a miss started to cry aloud.
Soseki sighed for the nth time. He gently closed her lifeless eyes and motioned for a genin. He handed the baby now named Akira with an unknown surname to a genin " Take it to the Medical Facility, Nurses will take care of the baby for the time being." The genin bowed his head in affirmation and ran towards the medical facility. The clean-up squad will take care of her body and investigate her details. This reminded him of his family, who fortunately were safe in the clan shelter. He decided to retire after this. He shook himself from the gloom to concentrate on the surroundings, his side mission is to check for clues of Kyubi's appearance. He used his shadow Jutsu to clear out a few pieces of debris surrounding the woman. His eyes quickly noticed an intricate fan with a Red burning leaf in the middle surrounded by two flame symbols. He felt like he has his this symbol somewhere and decided to add this to the evidence.
