1st year at Hogwarts
I stand up as everyone stares at me. I smile as Ms. Mcgonagall places the hat on my head. "Gryffindor!"
I hop down and run to the Gryffindor table excited to meet my new friends. I plop down in a seat. Across from me, there is a boy with brown curly hair. "Hey! I'm Sirius, Sirius Black." The other boy says as he waves.
"I'm James Potter." I knew as soon as he said he was a Black that he should not be here. "Aren't you supposed to be in Slytherin?"
"No. The hat chose me in the Gryffindor house." The boy tells me. "I'm excited I don't want to be around my snobby family who think they are better than others." He states. "Wanna be friends?"
"Yes!" I say happily.
I now look over to see a girl with fiery red hair, grin as the hat announces, "Gryffindor!"
She walks off the podium, makes a glance at a pale boy with jet black hair and sits right next to me.
I definitely should introduce myself. "Hi, I'm James."
"Hi, I'm Lily." Both of us shake hands, grinning from cheek to cheek. I can not stop staring at her long red hair. She is so pretty. I try to contain my thoughts as I look back up at the group of students who are taking turns being sorted in their houses.

As the days go by, I notice she spends much of her time with a shy Slytherin. Practically everywhere she goes he's there too. It annoys me. I can't spend time with her at all. And what does a Slytherin have anything to do with her? Who does he think he is, being friends with Lily? She clearly shouldn't be his friend.
My best friend, Sirius, and I are thick as thieves now, going everywhere together. "Come on, Sirius." I tell him running in the hall, trying to get Lily's attention but nothing will snatch her eyes away from him. I run between them, purposely knocking their books to the floor. I hope her attention will be finally on me. As the boy gives her the books, she looks across the hall as I give her a smirk. She ignores me, continuing to help the boy pick up his books. I can barely get her attention. I can't even get Lily to get away from him. She doesn't need to be around him. He's not from Gryffindor. He's a Slytherin. I need to talk to him later.
A few hours pass and I gather Sirius along with Peter Pettigrew and Remus Lupin to go with me and confront Severus. Sirius and Peter are instantly all for it. "It's going to be fun!"
Remus takes more convincing. "I don't think we should. He hasn't done anything wrong."
"Don't be such a scaredy cat. It's just this once."
Remus sighs. "I guess. Once."
We make it to the hallway with Severus passing by us quietly. He glances at us, and then walks faster. "Hey! Severus!" I mock him as we chase him down, blocking his way to the classroom.
Sirius questions him mockingly. "Or should we say Snivellus?"
Snape is silent as he looks back at us. I speak my mind. "Stay away from Lily. She doesn't like you." I spat wondering if he's going to say anything back.
His expression saddens, his head lowers at my statement. "She likes me." He tells me shyly. His calm demeanor makes it even more frustrating.
The next thing I do is push him over. I wonder if he'll do something now. "I said leave her alone! She's not in your Hogwarts house and she would never like someone who looks like you!" I scuff and laugh at my own comment. Sirius giggles in response.
Severus looks back at us after he gets up from the floor, using his hands to rub the dust off his robe. "Lily doesn't like you." He softly mentions as he turns to leave.
I turn to my group of friends. "How dare that brat say that!" I yell back at him. "She does too! Leave her alone, Snivellus!" I say. Remus had a look of regret but Sirius and Peter continued to joke as I gave them a high-five.
Weeks and even months pass, they still talk every chance they get, including in the school yard, class, and the dining hall. Severus doesn't leave Lily alone and neither will I leave him alone.
