Chapter 2
The Rain
You know, its weird how there's no snow on the ground nor is it very cold in the middle of December, I have to take off this beanie and scarf its far to hot, still should keep the jacket and the fire pants on, never know when a zombie might show up. "I need to find some kind of shelter, hell I'll take a ruined building." I mumbling as I look up at the increasingly gray sky. Now entering a sort of clearing I find a very obviously abandoned house, with large amounts of plant life growing up the siding and onto the roof, the door rotted off its hinges, many of the windows broken or with grime covering them. "Finally I don't think the rain can wait much longer" I say out loud as I run over to the house.
Leaning the surprisingly in good condition door on the nearby wall I enter the house. Its a standard house a fire place on one side of the main/living room two doors and a small wood oven for cooking as well as some cabinets and counters. Checking one door leads to an old empty bed room. The other is a small bathroom. Placing my bed roll down in the bed room and removing my gas mask, I open one of the cans of food. "ugh beans" as I take my fork and begin to eat the cold nasty beans. After finishing them I leave the can outside to gather the rain water for later use.
As I begin to lay down on my bed roll taking off my boots I hear the first few drops of rain as they sizzle as th… wait what? Looking outside I see the rain fall and then turn to steam as it hits the ground. "what the fuck, first red trees and grass now boiling rain … where am I?" Slightly panicking I rush to quickly place to door to block the entrance to the house. "and I thought zombies where the most of my problems." I muttered. As I was falling asleep I heard someone say "BOILING RAIN! everyone get inside now!" But before I could do anything I was already asleep
