Hey guys! It's Ducky, back for another chapter! I am really enjoying writing this story so I hope all you guys who are reading it are enjoying it as much as I am writing it!
I wanna give a quick shoutout to delecttric: You were the first to review. I really appreciate your support! Thank you so much!
I also wanna say that for the next few chapters, I will be writing from one of the dragonets' P.O.V. Alright that's all. Thank you again delecttric.
Here's chapter 2.
Tsunami's (POV)
"Guys," I heard Clay say. He was trembling and his voice was shaky and strained. "I think…Glory's gone."
No. She can't be. How? How did we not hear anything? My worry turned into fury. How were we so dumb as to not notice someone just plucking Glory from the sky?
"But how?" I hear Sunny say in a high, squeaky, scared voice. She's near me, maybe only a few feet away, and I can tell she's panicking, like me.
"I'm not sure, but she isn't answering," Starflight says. I take a deep breath. Glory could be anywhere. Back in Queen Scarlet's palace. Lost in one of the many biomes of Pyrrhia.
"Well, maybe she just can't hear us," Sunny says, trying to bring some optimism in this terrifying situation.
"I doubt it," I say, but immediately regret it. I don't want to stamp out any sparks of hope that we have that Glory is not gone. "But maybe."
"Glory?" Clay calls out again. I can tell by the desperateness in his voice that he's really scared and worried.
After numerous times of calling her name again and again, Clay huffs and I hear his big body sit on the floor. Thump. "It's all my fault!"
I jump at the sound of his angry voice, and then I tilt my head towards him in confusion. I can't see him, but I know the general direction of where he is. His fault?
"If I hadn't led us into this fog, none of this would've happened!" Clay says, but it's more like a yell.
"Oh, Clay. It's not your fault," Sunny says. I hear Sunny moving towards Clay. I start to move towards him too.
"Yes, it is!" he protests. "Maybe we could've gone into the–"
"Wait!" I say, realizing something. "Wait, if Glory was taken or whatever by some SkyWing or something, that must mean they were watching us. Because how else would they know we were in this fog? You can barely see anything."
"That's a very likely possibility," Starflight says, and I hear him shudder. I shudder too, as if it's contagious. The idea of SkyWing guards stalking us is a terrifying thought, especially after we just escape the clutches of Queen Scarlet.
"Then we should hide. We should go into the forest, in case they come back for us," Clay says. He seems to have forgotten the fact that he blamed himself for Glory disappearing out of thin air and now cares more about the rest of us staying safe from the SkyWings.
I seem to be the closest to the trees. I see a tall straight something poking through the thick haze and realize it's a tree. I make my way over to it and the visibility is almost completely normal again. I scan the fog for the others and see that they are moving towards me.
"Guys, over here." The figures are becoming less obscure and I can tell which is which. The darkest one is nearest to me. Starflight. I see a bright yellow one and a muddy red one close together and not far from Starflight. That's Sunny and Clay. I let out a sigh of relief. Knowing that we didn't lose anyone else is reassuring.
And although it's pointless, I scan the fog for a green figure. For Glory. But she's not there. Still for some reason trying to give myself hope, I tell myself that she could be invisible. After all, she is a RainWing. But no. There's no one. No Glory. I sigh.
The forest is dense. It's more like a jungle really. It's muggy and there are vines and colorful frogs and fruits everywhere. We must be near the Rainforest Kingdom, the home of the RainWings. Home of Glory's dragons. We might have made a detour there if we had Glory with us, or else we'd look like intruders.
I shake the thought off. I don't want to think about how Glory is gone and could be anywhere. She could be in Scarlet's palace, being beat up. She could be roasting alive in the desert or freezing to death in the Ice Kingdom. Or she could be drowning in the sea, my home.
I force myself not to think of such horrific things, but it's hard when you're so worried.
The four of us walk for who knows how long into the jungle.
"Where are we going?" Sunny asks, breaking the long pause of silence. We're all pretty quiet since Glory's disappearance. However panicked, scared, and worried I am, I smile. It's nice to be able to see my friends again, instead of just hearing their voices ominously out of the blue of the fog.
"I don't know," I reply. "Clay?"
"Um, we're just looking for a safe place to hide."
"What about Glory?" Sunny asks. She's always so concerned for all her friends.
"We'll go looking for her when we can," Clay says.
"Pyrrhia is a massive continent. Glory could be anywhere," Starflight points out.
"Well, true." Clay's forehead wrinkles, as if in deep thought.
"Let's start with places that she's more likely to be in," I say. "Like Queen Scarlet's palace. I mean, she was the one who sprayed Scarlet and potentially killed her. The SkyWings would definitely go for her first rather than the rest of us."
"Good point, but Scarlet's palace is guarded heavily and it'll be very hard to just get into the SkyWing kingdom, let alone into the palace."
"Do you guys think Scarlet's dead?" Sunny asks.
"It's possible, but she's got tough scales. And I have a hunch that she ordered her guards to come and take Glory. That gives us a pretty good clue that she's probably still alive," Starflight explains in his matter-of-fact voice. But he's right. If Scarlet wasn't still alive, what would be the point of guards just coming out here and kidnapping Glory? And if she's dead, who's their new queen?
We finally find a grassy cove in the ground surrounded by tall trees and shrubs. The long leaves of the tree create a canopy above our heads, protecting us from potential rain and keeping us mostly out of sight of dragons flying overhead.
I settle in with the others. We curl up together, tails and heads on top of each other. Slowly one by one, they all fall asleep. But I can't. The sky is nearly dark now, and a few stars are shining. I look up at them and sigh.
I start to feel very tired a few minutes later, and my body aches from all the walking. Just before I doze off, I think one last thing.
We'll find you, Glory, we'll find you.
And that was chapter 2. Hope y'all enjoyed it. I sure am having a blast writing it. And I'm even more pumped now that someone's finally reviewed my story! Thanks again delecttric. So please leave a review telling me what you think. I'd appreciate it more than you can imagine. The feedback really helps me as a new and young writer on FFN. I'll try and post a chapter every day or every couple of days but it depends on my schedule. Thanks for reading!
See ya in the next one.
Ducky :)
