Disclaimer: I don't own Honkai Impact 3rd, anything related to miHoYo, or any other fictional media referenced in this story.
I only own my OCs
This fanfic will also have its own story that might go far out of norm for Honkai Impact. Since this story takes place in the future, and the current story of HI3 (at the time that I wrote this) is not finished I will have to make my own assumptions of the ending so if you do not like this, then do not read this.
I also want to apologize for any mistakes that I will make during the fanfic in both lore and grammar. The lore of HI3 can be a confusing mess if not studied well, and as for grammar, I am not good with English writing so I will most likely make some mistakes. I will try my best to correct any I see.
There may also be some missing words in some sentences that may cause some sentences to be weird and nonsensical. I will try to fix them once I am able to find them.
Prologue
Ever since the beginning of time, there were beings known as the Honkai. The Honkai have always had a disdain for humanity on Earth as they would try to end life using many different methods. One of, if not their most dangerous methods were the creation of the Herrschers, beings with the power to bend the laws of physics to their liking. The Honkai and humans residing on Earth would engage in war over their own ideals
In the first era, humans had built an advanced society with high technology that expanded globally. This highly advanced era was able to combat the god-like Herrschers through their technology that gave birth to powerful warriors, known as MANTIS. The strongest of the MANTIS, Kevin Kaslana, was able to fight and defeat the 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th Herrschers on his own. Despite his overpowering strength, however, Kevin, and the rest of Earth could do nothing in the face of the Final Herrscher. Known as "the Herrscher of the End", she singlehandedly fought all of Earth's defenders with ease, and destroyed civilization on Earth.
After the destruction of the previous era, surviving humans from the previous era began to rebuild civilization. The Honkai did not leave humanity alone as they continued to pursue to end all humans. While the earliest attack from the Honkai occurred in the year 2717 BC of the second era the first awakening of a Herrscher would not occur until 1952 CE. This awakening, called the "1st Honkai Impact" would give birth to the 1st Herrscher known as "the Herrscher of Reason". Schicksal, an organization that has existed for a long time was able to capture the Herrscher for research. Despite the wish of humanity to defeat the Honkai, Schicksal's leader, Otto Apocalypse, seemed hesitant to kill the 1st Herrscher. This would cause a part of Schicksal to branch off and become the organization "Anti-Entropy". Both had different ways to combat the Honkai with Schicksal using Valkyries, who were girls that were infused with Honkai energy, and Anti-Entropy using Honkai powered mechs. In 2000, Schicksal would perform inhumane experiments of children who were resistant to the Honkai. This would be the direct cause of the 2nd Honkai Impact as one of the children who were apart of the experiment, Sirin would awaken her Herrscher powers, and began attacking the Earth. It would take all of Schicksal to defeat Sirin. While Schicksal was successful they would lose many of their own Valkyries, including Cecilia Schariac who was known as Schicksal's strongest valkyrie. Before her passing, Cecilia had just given birth to her daughter, Kiana Kaslana. Otto would use Kiana's DNA to replicate a clone of her. After 422 failed attempts, Otto decided to fuse the Core of the 2nd Herrscher into the 423rd clone, and with Sirin's desire for life the 423rd clone was a success.
Fast forward to 2014, in Nagazora where a mini Honkai Impact occurred. This impact was caused by a girl named Mei after she was infused by a Herrscher core. The remaining survivors of the impact, Raiden Mei, Bronya Zaychik, and Kiana Kaslana, who was actually the 423rd clone known as K423 were transferred to High School, which was a valkyrie training school built by Theresa Apocalypse. This would lead to a massive chain of events that would occur, including the reawakening of the 2nd Herrscher inside of Kiana/K423. K423 would go on to be able to manifest her Herrscher powers without going insane and would play a vital part in defeating the Honkai. However, despite having most of the Herrscher cores on the side of humanity as well as having Kevin Kaslana who was trapped in the Sea of Quanta, the overwhelming power of the Final Herrscher still proved to be too much for the Earth. Alas, while the destruction of civilization and humanity was less successful it is undeniable that they had failed. Many attempts were made to rebuild, however, due to many arguments between Schicksal, Anti-Entropy, and many other outsiders a civil war would occur among the world. The war would end in Schicksal victory and would give them access to every Honkai related thing possible.
2531 years after the war the Honkai has returned to finish what they set out to do. While Schicksal has helped the Earth advance back to a high-tech society the Earth would not be ready for an unexpected attack as an unknown Herrscher would awaken, and attack the Earth. This is where the beginning of a new story will start, a story of an unexpected new hero…maybe.
Honkai Impact 3rd: Next Reality
Chapter 1: A Lost and Bizarre Start
Date: July 18th, 2553
Darkness, it was all someone could see. It was a strange feeling for them. So many questions. Why did they see nothing? Why could they feel nothing? What happened to cause all of this to happen to them? Were they dead?
"…wake up." A female voice could be heard. "Wake up!"
"GAH!" A man's voice erupted as he got up.
A heavily injured man leaned upwards, sweat crawling down every fiber of his body. He looked around his surrounding. The man was inside of a destroyed building. With his weak body, the man tried his best to walk out of the building, only to meet more destruction as the place they were in was surrounded by destruction, and death. So many corpses filled the area, which seemed to be a destroyed city.
"What the hell happened here?" He said.
The man looked at all of the damage around him. He tried to recall what happened, but he couldn't recall anything. In fact, the man couldn't recall literally anything. He had no idea why he was here, or who he was. He looked down at himself. He was wearing dirty brown rags and some ripped jeans, probably damaged from the mess that happened here. His clothes gave him no clue of anything. The only thing this man knew for certain…
All of this felt like deja vu.
The man began limping, only to fall after taking a few steps. He didn't feel like he was gonna die, but his body felt like it couldn't function in any way. With how much pain he was going through, he just decided to lay down, hoping the pain would subside after a while. He took this opportunity to take a gander at his surroundings. It….wasn't much different from what he had seen before. Dead people, folded, crushed, or brutalized in many putrid ways possible. It was fortunate how the man didn't end up anything like these dead people.
After a while, the pain the man experienced had mostly subsided. He rolled over to lay on his side and slowly got up. It was still uncomfortable to walk, however.
"I got to find something to at least tell me….anything frankly." The man talked to himself.
The man limped across the destroyed city, searching through every building for anything. He passed through many constructions, trying his best to push away junks of wood and bricks from buried things. His searches mostly just resulted in him finding more corpses, and anything else besides corpses were too destroyed to be used for anything.
Eventually, the man would find a mostly intact building. He would limp inside the building, where he would find himself a glossary of books. Sadly, even some of these books have been ruined. There were only a few books that were close to pristine condition. The man grabbed any of the perfect books he could get, which was only 2 sadly. Laying against a wall, he opened those books. The books contained a few pictures, but mostly words.
The first book contained information about something called "Valkyries". According to the book, Valkyries were human soldiers, trained to fight enemies known as the "Honkai". Of course, it contained information about something called "Schicksal". Basically, Schicksal is a known organization, responsible for housing the Valkyries, and recruiting them. Most importantly, the book brought up famous figures, such as the Valkyrie known as Durandal, another known as Kiana, and the head of Schicksal, Otto Apocalypse. The man closed the book. He learned some things, but everything else seemed like it needed more background info to truly understand.
"The Honkai huh?" The man said. "Could they be responsible for this?"
He tossed away the first book, picking up the second. The second book covered the Honkai itself. Sadly, even the book itself didn't seem to explain the Honkai well. Most of the contents inside the book basically summed up to "The Honkai are evil and are trying to end humanity.", which was something the man could have been easily inferred just by looking outside. The most interesting thing within the book was something called "Herrschers". Herrschers were essentially the highest being within the Honkai, having the ability to bend the laws of physics to their liking. Again, interesting, but it didn't really fill the man on much.
"That was helpful….sort of." He sighed.
He tossed the books to the side and left the building. He limped back out to the desolate city. Everywhere the man went, he only witnessed the bigger scale of the destruction that occurred. All types of people were seen dead around the city. Men, women, elders, and children, both born and unborn. With so many corpses dotting the land, the area was filled with a nauseating smell, which was only made worse by the faint smell of the fire.
"Am I the only one alive?" The man asked.
His question would be answered when the man heard a cry nearby. Curious, the man limped towards the noise, which led to an alleyway. Inside the dark path, the man could faintly make out a young girl, who was crying over a dead body, presumably her mother. The man limped towards the girl, hoping the girl was aware of everything and fill the man in.
"Excuse me." The man called out. "What the hell happened here? Why are there so many dead people?"
The girl looked up, and her eyes widened. Her crying changed to hysteric screaming. She quickly let go of her dead mother and ran away from the man. The man, massively confused, continued limping after the girl.
"Wait, hold on!" He called out. "I'm so confused! What did I do?!"
The man tried his best to limp after the girl, not understanding what he was doing wrong. His wild chase after the girl was ultimately cut short very easily as the man could not keep up. Regardless, he tried to follow the girl, or at least where she ran. This would lead him to a building. He would limp inside the building, only to encounter nothing, but empty rooms.
"Lost her." The man said. "I have to find someone else to help me."
He turned around, only to be met with 2 guns pointed at him. He quickly fumbled backward, scared. In front of him were three different girls, all of which were tiny compared to him. The one aiming the gun at him had white hair that reached near chest level, and 3 spiked bangs that were to her left, middle, and right. All of them had a hairpin holding them together.
Once the man's panic was clear, the girl aiming her gun at her quickly lowered the one on her right hand while holstering the one on her left. Likewise, the other two girls, who were using a sword and a scythe lowered their own weapons.
"Wait! Don't panic." The white-haired girl said. "We're friendly. We don't mean to harm you at all. It's okay, you're safe with us." She lifted a hand up.
However, the man couldn't stop panicking. With their sudden appearance, and their weapons, he couldn't help, but feel nothing except danger. How was he supposed to trust these people if the first thing he sees relating to them was the white-haired one pointing her gun at him? He backed up a bit more, before he decided to make a risky move. In his limp, he tried tackling through the tree to escape. The tackle sort of succeeded, only through the fact that they let him through. Before he could escape, however, a gunshot rang, and a bullet entered the back of his right thigh. The man fell down against the floor, clutching his right thigh. He tried to get up again, just in time for another bullet to be fired. However, the bullet would miss completely as one of the white-haired girl's partners would knock the girl's aim to point away from the man's other thigh. Regardless, the man fell down again.
"Kathlynn, what the hell?!" The girl shouted. "That was completely unnecessary! The man was already limping. We could have easily caught him."
"Damn it, I know!" Kathlynn shouted back. "I panicked and shot him to make sure he didn't get away. It was a stupid decision I made on the fly. Agh, Mom and Dad are gonna kill me for this." She rubbed her eyelids out of shame.
Kathlynn walked over to the man, who was crawling with a bullet in his leg.
"Sir, it's okay." She tried to reassure. "We mean no harm for you. We're here to bring you to safety."
"Safety?" The man leaned back against the wall. "Mean no harm?! You shot me in the leg!"
The man tried to calm himself down. His haywire attitude only made the pain worse for himself. He managed to lower his breathing rate down to normal, and as it contained to calm down to normal, the pain lessened. One of Kathlynn's partners kneeled down to the man's level.
"It's okay, just stay calm." She said. "I'll try to cover the wound until we can find you professional medical aid."
She tried to turn his leg over a bit to find where the bullet encased itself, only to be hit with shock. The bullet inside of the would started to wiggle out of the wound it made before it fell out. The wound itself would start to close in on itself before fading away, only leaving the blood that came from it earlier.
"What the hell?" She said. "Did you two see that as well?" She looked over at her partners.
Kathlynn and the other person nodded their head.
The man, feeling the pain be gone, was confused. He rubbed his hand over where the bullet hit him, realizing the injury was no longer there. He stood back up again. Because of what happened earlier, he only had more fear. Once again, he tried escaping from the three out of fear that they were trying to trick him, and kill him. The three responded quickly by grabbing hold of him.
"He's…he's surprisingly tougher than I thought." One of the girls said. "Coupled that with his build and size too."
The man was still being pulled away obviously. He was outnumbered, but he did cause the girls to halt slowly. Even when his body was in pain, it was quite surprising how he managed to cause the three to struggle.
"Damn it! We can't bring him back to safety like this." Kathlynn yelled. "Sir, please forgive me."
Kathlynn lifted one of her arms up, and chopped the back of the man's neck. Instantly, the man fell forward, only being saved by the other two holding onto him. Kathlynn pulled her arm back, using it to carry the man.
"He's knocked out." She stated. "With this, we should be able to bring him back to Crescent City safely."
The three girls carried the man out of the building. Kathlynn reached two fingers up to her ear, contacting the others.
"I've found a survivor." Kathlynn reported.
"You did?" A masculine voiced replied. "Are they okay?"
"Yes, though he's currently knocked out." Kathlynn reported. "He was quite resilient, though understandable frightened. I had to knock him out so he could cause further trouble for us."
"Really?" The masculine voice replied. "That's strange. Usually, someone would be glad if they met a Valkyrie. Whatever, bring him back here."
"Understood Overseer." Kathlynn replied.
Kathlynn and her partners would bring the man back towards the outskirts of the city, where an airship crew was awaiting. They were currently outside, monitoring the city using advanced drones and other tools. In the center of that crew was a tall man, fancily clad in all white. He had lengthy blonde hair, which had a large bang that nearly covered his right eye. He turned over to look at the Valkyrie squad approaching him.
"Overseer." Kathlynn greeted him. "Here's the survivor we found. Quite a tall one he is. Heavily built as well."
"I see." The Overseer said. "Did you find anything relating to the Herrscher in the city yet?" He asked.
"No. The survivor is the only thing I've seen." Kathlynn admitted.
"I see." The Overseer said again. "You can continue searching the city, I'll take care of-." The Overseer cut himself off.
Once the Overseer got a full look at the survivor, he paused immediately. A small smirk appeared on the Overseer's face.
"Is there something wrong, Overseer?" Kathlynn asked.
"Huh? Oh, nothing." The Overseer responded. "Here, give me the survivor, I'll get him to some help." He extended an arm out. "Amber!"
A woman dressed in a black dress exited the airship. The woman had white hair tied into a ponytail, and had an orange visor over her face.
"Yes, Overseer Otto." Amber said.
"I need you to bring this man inside to the medical bay." Otto ordered as Kathlynn gave him the unconscious man. "He'll need some care and attention."
"I'll bring him to the medics." Amber promised.
Otto passed over the man to Amber, who swiftly carried the man into the airship, despite the size difference between her and the man. Otto continued to look at Amber until she disappeared into the airship. He turned back to face the Valkyries.
"I need you to go back into the city. Search for any more survivors if there is any, and see if there are any traces of the Herrscher." He commanded.
"As you command." Kathlynn and her partners nodded their heads.
The Valkyries quickly ran back inside the city again. Otto turned back to look at the airship. He couldn't help, but smirk.
"To think that I would get you back into my grasp this easily." Otto whispered to himself. "Your time must have run out I assume. Let's see what happens starting today."
A few hours have passed. The unconscious man regained consciousness. He was laid on a comfortable bed, and was in a comfortable room. The room was a white rectangular room, filled with different furniture, a wall made completely of windows, and two doors. There was a wall TV with black comfy couches nearby that came companied with a coffee table. Right across from the bed was the kitchen, decorated with black cabinets, stove tops, and ovens. There was also a sink with a dishwasher, a full glass table, and a kitchen counter.
"You're finally awake." A voice said.
The man quickly turned his head to his left. A woman was sat in a chair close by. The woman wore a white lab jacket that was over a button up shirt, and had a tight skirt over some leggings. She had free flowing hair that reached to the end of her back that was dark blue in color.
"You were knocked out for a few hours. Are you alright?" She asked.
"Agh." The man mumbled as he rose up. "No?" He responded with uncertainty. "What happened again?"
"According to the report I have here….." The blue-haired woman began. "You came from Arastan City, that city that was destroyed recently. It seems that you were causing a hassle for our rescue team, so they had to knock you out." She reported.
"They pointed a gun at me." The man retaliated. "Hell, the white-haired one even shot my leg!"
"She did?" The woman blinked. "Well that would explain the blood there from earlier." She clicked a pen. "I'll make sure to write that down."
The woman scribbled on a tablet of sorts before putting it down on the floor. She stood up and gave out a hand to the man.
"Professor Sarah." She introduced herself. "Can you get up at least?"
"I think so?" The man replied.
He rolled over and stood up from the bed. Admittedly, he was still a bit wobbly, but at the least, he was able to move. Now that he stood up, he was forced to look down at the woman. There was a big height difference between the man and Professor Sarah.
"….You know, maybe you should lay back down." Sarah chuckled. "It would be a service for both of our necks."
"A-alright." The man complied.
"No, wait!" The Professor sighed. "It was just a jest. I didn't mean it literally."
The Professor took a good gander at the man's body. The man was taller than most men that she is usually surrounded by. By her rough estimate, the man could have been 6 foot and 5 inches. More to add to the man's unusualness was his build was how muscular he was. His body from the shape of his head, all the way down to his legs resembled buff shounen characters like the first 3 Jojo's, and the majority of the Dragon Ball characters.
"So where are we?" The man asked.
"Ah yes. Our location." Professor Sarah said. "We're in Crescent City, the current home base to Schicksal, and the home to Saint Freya Academy." She began as she walked towards the window. "Saint Freya Academy is where we train our Valkyries in order for them to combat against the Honkai. We also provide other scholarly services such as Math, History, and Science as most of our Valkyries are within high school age. To compensate for them not being able to enter a normal school, we provide them those services."
The man followed Professor Sarah over to the window, giving himself a view of Crescent City. Crescent City was the day to Arastan City's night. The city was brimming with life as the man could catch glimpses of citizens walking around the city. There were vehicles traveling over the city, both on land, and on air. Every building was pristine and the sky was clear and blue.
"Currently, we are both in the dorms of Saint Freya." Sarah continued. "We are on the highest floor of the dormitory."
"I see….." The man nodded. "…..why are we in the dorm?"
"Oh, I forgot to bring up." Sarah coughed a bit. "You're the…..only survivor of that city massacre from earlier. Since you managed to make it out of there alive, the Overseer decided to enroll you into the academy."
"Wait what?!" The man yelled. "Why am I forced to work with you?"
"It's the Overseer's orders." Sarah plainly stated.
"Like hell!" The man retaliated. "One of your Valkyries shot me in the leg! You think I would willingly join you after that?"
"Look, I know you took a shot from a gun, but that was just an accident." Sarah tried to calm him down. "…..okay, maybe it wasn't an accident. I don't know how you accidentally shoot a gun, but whatever. Point is, you can either work with us and become a Valkyrie, or you can just be like one of those citizens down there." The Professor pointed down at the citizens.
"I don't know, those citizens look like they're living a pretty good life if you ask me." The man pointed out. "I'd rather live a simple life trying to figure out who I am than be sent out to fight."
"That's not…..ugh." Sarah covered her eyes with her fingers. "What if we sweeten the deal?" She asked. "What if we help you regain your memory?"
"That's not gonna do anything." The man said. "I'd still be sent out to fight against my will."
"Just fucking join us!" Sarah raised her voice.
"No!" The man fought back.
"It's either you join, or you're forced to live a hobo's life, because we aren't gonna help you if you do." Sarah told him.
"So I live a dangerous life, or I live a dangerous life." The man repeated. "Doesn't seem like a choice to me."
"When you put it that way, it's more of an ultimatum?" The Professor thought about her word choice. "No, that's not the right, agh! Point is…." The woman quickly grabbed the man's collar. "You don't get a choice."
She let go of his collar. The man couldn't help but feel like he was experiencing whiplash. First, he wakes up in a destroyed city, then he gets shot by his supposed saviors, and lastly is forced to join the organization that housed the Valkyrie that shot him. What a reality he woke up in.
"Now then…..um…..do you have a name?" Professor Sarah asked.
The man opened his mouth, only to close it again afterward. He shook his head. The man couldn't recall what his name was. Seemed to have disappeared with his past memories as well.
"No name huh?" She asked. "We'll just have to figure out a name for you then. Let's do that later. First, let me show you around your new home."
Professor Sarah picked up a remote control from the nearby coffee table, giving the unnamed man a clear view of it.
"See this right here?" She asked. "This remote control….controls most of the functions inside of your room. For example, it can close the windows." She said.
She pressed down on a button, and the wall of windows nearby became opaque, blocking all light from entering the room. Sarah pressed the button again, opening the windows back.
"It can also turn on, or off the lights within your room." She said.
Sarah pressed down on another button. All of the lights inside the room turned on, and were turned off again when Sarah pressed the button one more time.
"It is also a way to operate the TV, like most remote controls." She said as she pointed the remote to the TV.
Sarah pressed a button, activating the TV. The TV would turn on to a news channel. On the TV, reports of the destruction caused in Arastan City were playing on screen. Sarah would turn off the TV before it could play any longer.
"And that's pretty much what the remote does." She said. "Of course, you can just turn the lights on and TV on manually. The remote is mainly there for the windows. Moving on." She said. "Over here is the kitchen. This is where you'll cook any of your meals, though to be fair, I doubt you can cook, so don't worry too much about the kitchen. If you decide to learn how to cook yourself, then it'll have a purpose."
Sarah stopped walking midway.
"…And that's all." She said.
"That's it?" The man said.
"Yeah. Kind of stupid of me for thinking you needed a tour of your own room." Sarah realized. "Eh, don't worry. You'll be getting a proper tour later when we get to the city. For now, just make yourself used to the room."
The unnamed man wandered around the room while Sarah sat down at the dinner table, scrolling through her phone for names for the man. As for the man, he walked over to a bookshelf, which had a few books on the shelves. Bored, the man pulled out some books and quickly skimmed through all of them.
"So what are we going to do?" The man asked.
"I'm bringing you around the city to make sure you remember the layout of the city, to buy you some clothes and necessities, and probably some food should you get hungry." Sarah said. "After all, look at you! You're wearing dirty rags that look like they belong to a hobo. We need to get you some proper clothes if you don't want others to ridicule you." She continued to talk about his looks. "Mainly, we have to find what would even fit you in the first place. Not only do you have an uncommon body amongst people, but even your other features are strange."
"Really? And what are those?" The man asked.
"It's mainly your hair." Sarah said as she looked up. "There are a lot of small strands spiking themselves outwards on the top. We could honestly use gel to flatten them out, or you can just wear a hat. There's also that ridiculous braid to your left too."
"This?" The man grabbed the braid with his fingers. "It doesn't look bad."
"Wait till you look in the mirror." Sarah said. "That's not even the weirdest part of your hair either. The weirdest part is that patch of hair in the front. It looks like it's supposed to fall down and cover the right side of your face, but it's floating up and pointing forward. How does hair even do that?"
"That?" The man flicked the floating patch of hair. "I have no clue."
"Whatever." Sarah exhaled as she looked back down at her phone. "Point is, we have to make you look better."
"Okay. What do we do afterward?" The man asked.
"Nothing much." Sarah replied. "We'll probably just prepare you to become a Valkyrie."
"For the last time, I'm not joining you guys." The man said back.
Sarah looked up at the man in annoyance as the man shook his head and started to put the books back. Once she saw this, Sarah immediately got up and ran to the man.
"Wait! Be careful with that!" She yelled.
Sarah tackled the man over the ground, causing him to drop a few books on the floor.
"Ow! What the hell was that for!" The man yelled. "First, you guys shoot me and tell me to trust you. Now you tackle me for no reason, and expect me to trust you still?"
"Be careful where you place those books." Sarah scolded him.
The man couldn't say anything. He was just very confused about everything happening. The man got up, picking up the books he was forced to drop. He glanced at them one more time, eyeing one in particular.
"Tendou." He said. "What does that mean?" He asked.
"Hmm? Tendou?" Sarah asked. "If I recall correctly, I think that's a Japanese word that means 'Path to Heaven'."
"Path to Heaven huh?" The man repeated. "Cool meaning. I can't get over how….um…..how dumb it sounds?"
"Tendou." Sarah said. "Tendou…hey, that could work."
"What could work?" The man asked.
"Tendou. That could work as a name." Sarah smirked. "From now on, you will be called 'Tendou'." She pointed at the man named Tendou.
"Wha-…no." Tendou sighed. "There's no way I'm gonna be called that, am I?"
"Well, not exactly." Sarah scratched her neck. "But…if I keep referring to you as Tendou before you can retaliate, then maybe…"
"Hah….why am I always having things forced down my throat?" Tendou exhaled. "Alright, fine. I won't fight back against this one. As weird as it may sound, I guess my name is Tendou now."
"Good, you didn't fight back." Sarah let out in relief. "Now then Tendou, prepare yourself, because starting from today, you are now a Valkyrie at Saint Freya Academy!" The Professor smirked.
"God….." Tendou lowly growled. "For the last time, I am not joining Schicksal!"
Chapter 1 END
