Those Three Words

Summary: All the three word phrases Eren and Levi said to/about each other as their relationship changes and gives them a whole new meaning.

7. Captain? Everyone else ... (Crystal Cave) (Eren) (Eren POV)

Eren couldn't believe he'd been kidnapped three times in a row at this point. Even with the Captain just a couple of streets away, he'd been so useless as to let himself get kidnapped, as if the incident with either of those three traitors wasn't bad enough. So many people had died in those first two attempts and this Kenny person seemed dangerous enough and unhinged enough that Eren feared even more people have lost their lives for his sake, again.

Historia was currently pissing him off a great extent. Rod Reiss even more so. But he was too disgusted with himself and with his own father after he found out what the man had done to him to really focus on the anger.

He didn't want to live anymore, not if the price for the power he now possesses were the lives of innocent children.

He couldn't believe his father had turned out to be so cruel.

But before he could give up entirely, the Scouts came for him. His friends, Moblit, Squad Leader Hange and Captain Levi ... They all came for him, fighting the MPs to get Eren out of this shining crystal cave alive.

Historia chose her side and shattered the syringe with the Titan serum, much to her father's despair.

There were explosions all over the cave, blood spilling and splashing, shots being fired, Mikasa and the Captain soaring overhead and fighting the MPs. That Kenny guy seemed to be almost as strong as Mikasa and Captain Levi, so the Captain was fighting him while Mikasa seemed to be in charge of clearing his path of the rest of the MPs.

It was a mad flurry of movement but then Rod Reiss managed to lick enough of the serum from the cave floor just as Historia was trying to free Eren from his shackles. The sudden transformation blasted her back but Mikasa seems to have caught her before she got hurt.

And beside Eren was Captain Levi, holding onto his chains to keep the blast from knocking him over as he tried to set him free. "Captain?" He feared he was hallucinating, that his eyes were deceiving him from blood loss and no food during his imprisonment with Kenny and Reiss. Just the thought of this not being real pained his heart but the thought of it being real also almost sent him into a panic because of the current situation. But then Jean and Connie attached themselves to his legs and other arm, also trying to resist the blast, and he knew this was really happening. "Everyone else ..." He couldn't believe they had come for him yet again, endangering their lives, risking everything for a gamble probably not even the Commander would have made. "You have to get out of here!"

"Shut up, Eren," the Captain halfheartedly snapped as he passed the keys to Connie, who then passed them off to Jean after he was done freeing Eren's legs.

"Captain!" He cried desperately as he felt the heat getting higher and higher. If they don't leave right now, they'll all die! "Hurry up and leave!"

But they didn't. The Captain, even after Eren was freed, stayed right by his side, firm and steady, bearing the heat as though it were nothing more but a summer breeze and Eren could cry. He knows his Captain is loyal, but for once, he'd like him not to be, to think of himself and just save himself.

But Eren knew that wasn't happening. He was Levi's subordinate, his charge. He wouldn't leave Eren behind, even if he wasn't Humanity's Last Hope.

Instead, Eren was once again presented with a choice.
