Even blindfolded and having her hands tied in front of her, Lagoon did not fight back, even though she knew she could snap her bindings in an instant. She had come here of her own free will, after all. Slowly she lumbered up a gang walk, hands carefully guiding her so that her large frame wouldn't fall into the water below. She could hear a Pokemon behind her fall due the slime dripping off her body, causing the walkway to become slick. She chuckled under her breath at the irony of it all; there was so much care for one who would probably soon die.

When Lagoon's little sister became sick, she had hoped it would only last a few days. Days turned to weeks and months however, and her sister, Droplet, only grew sicker. Lagoon spared no expense to help her youngest sibling, as it was only them and their older brother left of their family. Eventually however, the money needed for physicians to take care of the poor Goomy ran out. Lagoon and her older brother Drahyde, had almost no hope left, when they received the card.

"What are you willing to give, to receive your heart's wish?" the card read Drahyde went to rip it to pieces, as if it was mocking their situation, but that tiny spark of hope in Lagoon's heart ignited. "I'd give up my life for Droplet to be healed" she said as the card started to glow golden. As if those were magic words, an eye that the pair had only seen in books before, appeared on the card.

"If that is what you wish" an ethereal voice said as the eye focused on Lagoon, "Then you shall join the game. Win, and your wish will come true. Lose, and your life is forfeit" With that, the eye disappeared and a date, time and location appeared on the paper.

It had taken some time to convince her brother that this was their answer, as he feared he would soon lose both siblings, but he eventually allowed her to leave, knowing that Lagoon wouldn't take no for an answer once she set her mind to it. When the date came, she traveled to a pier in the Cobalt Cross-lands, the only one big enough for a large ship to dock. Instantly she was approached by a swarm of Bronzongs that asked her to cooperate if she wanted to join the game. She hesitated for a moment, afraid that this whole endeavor might have been a ruse, but as she saw the same eye appear, she decided to allow herself to be blindfolded.

Now, as the Bronzongs were attempting to help her on the ship, Lagoon wondered how many others had jumped at the chance. Surely there were others with sick loved ones, Pokemon that needed money desperately, or even other reasons she couldn't think of. She also thought about what kind of game they would play. She was hoping it was some type of battle, whether team based or a battle royal, as she was stronger than most Pokemon. Even if things went bad, she could hide almost completely in the shell that was on her back.

Finally, after much effort Lagoon made it onto the ship and was brought to her room. "You can remove your blindfold, but don't leave your room after you hear the announcement. It'll be awhile, we still have other Pokemon to pick up." a shrill voice said as the door closed behind her. Lagoon took off her blindfold and looked at her surroundings. It was a simple room, but one large enough to fit a Pokemon her size. As she could feel the boat start to move under her feet, she decided to lay down and take a nap, since she didn't know when she would get another chance, if ever again.

Several hours later, Lagoon woke up abruptly when she heard the sound of a siren. A TV she hadn't noticed before, started transmitting static. As she turned her attention to the TV, she saw an image again of the same eye from earlier, this time on the screen of the TV.

Welcome participants, you have all been chosen because you desire for your deepest wish to come true, even at the cost of your life. Whatever that wish may be, I alone have the ability to grant it. Wishes however, are not an unlimited resource and should be given to those who are ready to work their hardest. Eighteen of you have been chosen, one for each type, but by the end, very few of you will remain. Please head out of your room; The Bronzongs will lead you to the meeting point.

With that the TV went back to static. Lagoon heard a knock on her door followed by the same high pitched voice from earlier. "Miss, would you please follow me" the Bronzong said as it opened the door with its psychic ability, its tone more of a command than a question. Lagoon gave one last sigh, before following behind.

Authors notes:

Hi, I've always wanted to write a SYOC story, and since I've just started writing again after almost ten years of hiatus, I thought I'd give it a try!

This is heavily inspired by media like Danganronpa, Squid Games, and many more. I will explain more rules for the game in the next chapter, but please know, most of the OCs will die by the end of this story. As of me writing this, I will allow up to two OCs per person. Please send all OC submissions to me via PM, as it wouldn't be fun for the characters' secrets to come out too early!

For this story, there will only be one Pokemon of each type. If a Pokemon has two types, it will be under the first type's spot. For example: Greninja would fit in the water type spot, but not the dark type.

I will update my profile every day with which type spots are taken.

OCs Application Form:
