Chapter 2 - Sing a Song of Sixpence
"I have to go shopping because we need to get things for today and next week." Murray said as he brushed Jessica's golden blonde hair. It was a sunny Wednesday morning with a few clouds in the sky, and the young, lavender Wiggle was excited to continue her nursery rhyme book project. Jeff walked out of the bathroom after washing his face and hands, when he went past Jessica's room, he stopped and looked into the room "Good morning." he said cheerfully "Good morning, Jeff." Jessica and Murray said in unison "I'll be downstairs for breakfast and to get started on the shopping list." Jeff said and he started to walk down the staircase, "We'll be down for breakfast soon Jeff!" Murray called out from Jessica's room.
Soon all the Wiggles were down in the kitchen for pancakes which Anthony has made for breakfast "What do you think you need today?" Sam asked as he poured some maple syrup on his stack of pancakes, Jeff looked in the fridge while he held his pen and a notepad, "I think we'll be fine with milk, but we do need to get some cream because we're running out of it." he said, "While you got the fridge open, may I please have a glass of milk?" Jessica asked, "Of course you can sweetie." he answered as he got out the milk jug from the fridge, "Nothing beats pastry goods that a nice glass of milk." Anthony smiled as he sprinkled some berries onto his pancakes, when Jeff poured Jessica's milk, he passed the glass over to her "Thank you." she thanked, "Your welcome Jessica." he replied back as he lovely patted Jessica's shoulder. They all enjoyed their stack of pancakes and afterward, they all cleaned up their dishes.
After Jeff and Murray left to do some shopping, Anthony started on the laundry while Sam did some dusting in the living room with Jessica sitting on the teal couch reading a novel, she borrowed from the library a few days ago. After a while, Sam looked at the time after he finished dusting the grandfather clock "Wow, how does time fly when you're doing your chores, it's nearly lunchtime."
Sam, Jessica, and Anthony each made themselves a sandwich to have for lunch "I've still got to hang up the laundry before the others get home." Anthony said feeling a bit worried "Don't worry Anthony we've still got a few hours before they get home." Sam reassured "And I can help you hang them out when their done washing!" Jessica added "Oh, thanks Jessica, I happy for you to help me." Anthony said now feeling a bit better. After they've finished their sandwiches, Sam went back to dusting and Anthony and Jessica went to the laundry to get the load of clothes to be hung out to dry.
Jessica and Anthony walked into the backyard where the clothesline is, with a basket of wet clothes waiting to be hung out, "I'll get the pegs so we can hang these out to dry." Anthony said and he returned to the laundry room to get the pegs that were on the shelf. When he returned, he noticed that Jessica was looking up in a tree, when he walked up to her, he saw a few blackbirds in the tree singing "No wonder Jessica is looking up there, she could her their singing all the way from down here. Her autism always gives us a big surprise within her heart." Anthony thought, "Jessica, I got the pegs now." he whispered as the gently shook her shoulder "Oh Ok. These blackbirds gave me some inspiration for the next rhyme I'm going to do." she said when she turned around. As they hung out the clothes one by one, Jessica talked about her idea to Anthony, "When we get done with these clothes, I'll be writing 'Sing a Song of Sixpence' in my book." "That'll be great, I can't wait to see it when that page is done." he said excitedly. Once all the clothes were hung out, the two Wiggles walked back inside the house.
Jessica went to her room to continue her nursery rhyme book, she sketched out a castle and a garden and a lot of blackbirds all around, the castle window as an open pie with some blackbirds sitting in it. She also drew a maid in a garden holding on to her nose and a blackbird nearby her and the title and words of the rhyme. After she outlined and coloured in the page, she started to walk down the stairs to show Anthony and Sam her finished page.
Murray and Jeff both walked into the living room "We're home!" they called in unison in cheer "Hi Murray, Hi Jeff. How was your day?" asked Anthony as he helped take in the paper bags full of groceries "I was very good Anthony, although they didn't have any cream in stock." Jeff answered back, they saw Jessica walking into the living room with another of her finished pages "I finished another page for my book, can I show you?" she asked "Sure thing Jessica, we can't wait to see it." Murray replied as he carried in another bag into the kitchen. Jessica set the page down onto the counter so that the Wiggles can see it. "That looks nice Jessica, I can't wait to see finished!" he added with excitement.
After they had put all the groceries away and had dinner, they all went to bed, Anthony looked into Jessica's room and their sleeping daughter in her light purple bed, "Good night, Jessica, sleep tight." he whispered.
