Lagoon had hoped that her guide would have brought her to the deck of the ship, as the hisuian goodra felt desperate for fresh air, but instead the bronzong led her deeper into the ship's bowels. As her anxiety started to creep its way back into her heart, Lagoon tried to focus on the ship around her. While the ship looked human-made on the outside, the interior had rooms and hallways big enough for Pokemon three times her size. Pokemon-made technology was surely improving after the disappearance of humans some twenty years ago.

No one had expected for humans to suddenly disappear, but that's exactly what happened. Some Pokemon believed that this event would signal the end of the world, while others believed it meant a new beginning, as now Pokemon were no longer servants to human-kind. Quickly society bounced back, as Pokemon took the roles left behind by humans. However, corruption rose just as fast, as stronger Pokemon overpowered the weak, with legendaries above everyone else. Lagoon and Droplet had been lucky to have a stronger, older brother who could stand up for them.

Lagoon's thoughts were interrupted when the Bronzong stopped at a large metal door. She could feel a chill go down her spine as she realized the other participants were probably behind it. For a few seconds, she felt regret in accepting the card's promise. Sure, she was a strong contender if this was a battle royal, like she expected. What if she was wrong though? What if the pokemon that was the fastest or smartest would become the winner? Lagoon took a step back, before memories of her younger sister flooded her thoughts. She had to do this, for Droplet's sake. Lagoon pushed away her doubts, and nodded to the waiting Bronzong, who used its psychic powers to open the large door.

Seventeen sets of eyes stared down the hisuian goodra as she entered. Seventeen who were contenders to be granted a wish. Lagoon tried her hardest to stand up straighter, despite the massive weight of her shell weighing her down. After a few moments, most of the pokemon in the room turned back to the argument that was happening before Lagoon entered. A savage looking centiskorch, his body covered in scars, was glaring at a gyarados. Hiding behind the gyarados, was a horribly burned dolliv, its foliage smoldering.

"Move," The centiskorch growled, its voice dripping with hatred. "Or you'll be next" The gyarados stood its ground, protecting the Pokemon behind it. The fire Pokemon reared back its head, as if to try and bite at its opponent's neck, but was stopped by a familiar voice.

"Enough, your petty squabbles can wait until later." The voice called out. Every Pokemon in the room turned towards the one that had suddenly appeared who floated above their heads. It was a small white Pokemon with short arms and even shorter legs. On its head seemed to be a large golden star, blue tags hanging from the top three points. Its eyes were closed, as if it was sleeping while floating above them. "It's jirachi." Lagoon could hear someone whisper excitedly.

Suddenly, the thin line on its stomach opened up, revealing the same eye Lagoon had seen several times. "Welcome participants. All of you have gathered here in hopes that your deepest wish would come true. I will let you know, I can grant any of them. From the smallest of wishes, to the ones that would change the world as we know it, I have the power to do it all" it said as its eye scanned the crowd. "If you don't believe me, who else do you think made the humans disappear?" it asked.

"A thousand years ago, a young rowlet asked me to get rid of humans, if they didn't change their ways. The rowlet wished they would have plenty of time to overcome their cruel natures, but eventually their time limit ran out, and the wish took effect. Now you are free from them." Lagoon heard a voice in the back cry out in response. "What about the good humans? Why did you get rid of them?!"

"The good humans?" JIrachi asked as the corners of the large eye turned slightly up, as if it were smiling. "That's not what the rowlet asked for, that's why" it laughed, sending another chill down Lagoon's spine. As she took a step back, her shell bumped another Pokemon. Turning her head to see behind her, she saw that she had pushed over a spinda who was having a hard time standing back up due to slime that coated the floor around Lagoon. "I'm sorry" Lagoon whispered as she helped the smaller Pokemon up.

"Regardless" the jirachi said as it finished laughing. "There are only three wishes, and there are eighteen of you. Well, seventeen of you" it paused while it looked toward the no longer moving dolliv on the ground. "Regardless, the first of your trials will begin in just a few hours. Until then, please rest." the eye on Jirachi's stomach began to laugh once again. Before she knew it, Lagoon and the other Pokemon began to be overcome with exhaustion, as a pack of butterfrees came out of nowhere, spreading sleep powder on the seventeen chosen contenders. As Lagoon started to close her eyes, she glimpsed at the Jirachi heading towards the dead Dolliv, before she passed out.
