Annabeth is cheating.
Percy had his suspicions about Annabeth the second the whole thing started between them. She'd been acting off, like she had something to hide.
At first, he tried to let it go, Annabeth wouldn't do that to him, she was a honest person. He couldn't fathom her carrying out a betrayal, especially against him. After everything he'd done for her, it seemed almost impossible that she'd dare cheat.
Yet there was no other explanation for what she was doing now.
His chest filled with the familiar heavy feeling of rage that came with the sting of betrayal. His mind couldn't wrap around the reasoning for Annabeth's action. He hadn't cheated at all, yet here she was cheating.
He just couldn't stand by anymore, he couldn't just sit there and watch Annabeth cheat. He needed to do something.
"You can't do that!" Percy finally yelled.
Annabeth set down a second draw 4 card on top of the draw 4 she just placed.
"Blue." She said, then placing down a draw 2.
"No, that's wrong!" He exclaimed, "You can't put down a draw 4, then put down another draw 4, then finish off with a draw 2!"
He didn't care what Annabeth said, he wasn't about to draw ten cards, not when he had just called uno a few turns prior. It seemed the Fates were doing everything they could to make sure he lost this match because it seemed ridiculous that Annabeth would have two draw 4 cards while he hadn't had a single one.
The idea that she might've fixed the deck floated around in his mind. He could see Annabeth doing that, maybe she'd done it when he went to go get some snacks from the kitchen of their college dorm.
"Haven't you played Uno before, Percy?" She asked with a teasing smile, "People do this all the time."
"It's against the rules!" Percy protested, "You can't stack draw 4 cards!"
"Since when do you care about rules?" She asked.
She had him there. He really didn't care about rules that much. He'd been in her position before. One time when he was playing with Jason on Black Ops 2, they'd had a snipers only match against one another. What Jason didn't expect was for Percy to choose the one sniper where you didn't have to put a scope on it, meaning he was hitting Jason before he could even aim. The son of Jupiter stormed over to his cabin nearly five minutes later and demanded he change weapons.
"I can't believe this." Percy grumbled as he reached for the deck of cards.
"Wait, hold on!" Annabeth cried out.
Percy paused, his hand still outstretched for the cards. He nearly exploded when he watched her place down yet another draw 2.
"NO, NO, NO!" He shouted, "That's twelve cards! I'm not drawing twelve cards!"
"Draw the cards, Seaweed Brain!" She yelled back while laughing, "Sucks to suck!"
"This is so unfair." Percy whined while counting out how many cards he had to draw.
Annabeth laughed when she saw how many cards he had. She only had two cards left, he had thirteen. He'd have to have the gods on his side for him to possibly win.
Percy peered down at his cards. A evil grin spread across his face. In his deck were four draw 4 cards.
