The boy just stood there, staring, in total and complete shock.
Someone yelled down "Hey Newt! What's going on? You fall asleep?"

"Naw man, I bet the Greenie is a pretty boy an' Newt took one look and fell in loooove!"
A burst of laughs rippled down into the cage. The commanding voice from earlier called out.

"NEWT! Snap out of it, what's going on?"

The boy in the cage blinked and looked up.

"Its...its a girl! It's a bloody girl! A..a..shuckn' SHE-Bean! A Shanket!" He sounded confused.

That caused an instant up rawer from the boys standing above her.

"A girl?"

"What she look like?"

"I can't see!"

"I want to see the shucking girl!"

"MOVE! I WANNA SEE!"

"Is she hot? I bet she's hot!"

"10 bucks she has a bangin' body!"

"DUDE I CALL DIBS!"

"No way man, I saw her first! She's mine!"

"No you shank, you can't even see her!"

"A girl, wonder if the creators want us to procreate?!"

"Nice!"

A few high fives were heard. Everything these guys said shot more fear through her already terrified body. She couldn't stop shaking, from the wet, the cold, the fear and absolute disgust! Against the girls will, another few tears leaked over her lashes and slid down her grimmy and bloody face. Another whimper escaped. She was frustrated with herself for crying. Why couldn't she be like the girl heroes in the books and movies? I guess this is my reality and not a plot line. I can remember book plots but not why I read the book or where I read it!

"SLIM IT!" yelled the loud voice again, he must be their leader, because the ruckus died down again. "Newt, bring the She-Bean up!"

The boy in the cage with her looked back down at the girl and took a small timid step forward, into the beam of sunlight. He had long shaggy golden blond hair, when the sun hit his hair there was a little red to it, he had big warm chocolate brown eyes.

Familiar eyes.

Something behind the mental wall was trying to push out. He was tall and thin but with obvious muscle, from hard physical work. He also had a kind smile, almost shy. He wore light brown cargo pants, an orange coloured muscle top and a white shirt tied around his thin waist. He had a big machete strapped to his back, and a small knife in his belt.

He took another cautious step forward, and the terrified girl pulled her knees even tighter to her chest and took a sharp breath in. Just because his eyes seemed familiar doesn't mean she trusted him. The boy raised his hands in defense, he slowly crouched down, getting to the girls level, but still keeping his distance. That in itself , the personal space he gave made her loosen the tight hold on her knees. He didn't seem like he was going to hurt her. At this moment, anyways. He lowered his arms and rested them on his legs, he tilted his head to the side a bit, frowning slightly, like he was trying to remember something. He blinked and shook his head.

"We aint gonna hurt ya" The blond boy said quietly. He talked differently than the others, he had an accent. British. He had a British accent.

How do I know that?

He slowly extended his right hand forwards.

"I promise we aint gonna bloody hurt ya, Greenie. Come on, I'm sure you want out of The Box. No one likes it down here."

The girl looked at him still absolutely terrified, no idea who she was, where she was, why she was here surrounded by a bunch of leering boys. But this British boy seemed different from the rest not just in his accent, he seemed gentle, he didn't make any sudden moves, didn't say anything rude or suggestive. He just smiled calmly, like he was dealing with a scared wild animal. Like he has done this before, dealing with scared kids. She slowly extended a shaking hand towards his outstretched one. He was studying her face and his eyes traveling up to her forehead, noticing the fresh blood and a deep cut. He wrapped his big calloused hand around her little one, slowly and gently pulled her to her feet. She stumbled a little; her head was still pounding from smashing it on the top of the box and passing out, and whatever she was drugged with. Still feeling dizzy and sick to the stomach, she stumbled into the guy a little.

"Hey, hey. It's ok She-Bean. I got ya. You'll be okay. Day one. We've all been there. Come on, let's get out of this shuck stinking box!" She just nodded her head, terror in her wide eyes as she looked above her, at the boys all gaping down.

"Hey Gally, lower the rope, she's bleedin' and will need some help."

The boy named Gally, was a huge kid. Tall and wide, lots of muscle, short cropped blond hair, a big nose and these eyebrows...they looked like eagles wings trying to fly off his face.

Did he pluck them or was he just born this way?

Gally threw a rope that looked like a vine, over the side. The blond boy, named Newt, helped her over and helped put her foot in the loop at the bottom. She was pulled out relatively quickly "Shuck, She-Bean is light!", as soon as she was within arms reach hands grabbed her.

She screamed when the hands grabbed anything they could. The blond hulled himself out of the box with the help of a tall muscular dark skinned boy. They both looked over when they heard the scream, pushing boys out of the way to get to the front of the rowdy crowd. The girl was curled up on the grass, the hands continued to grab and touch every part of her clothes, hair, arms. Anything they could touch.

"HEY SLIM IT SHANKS! ENOUGH!"

The grabby hands slowly let go and the crowd of boys slowly backed away. Newt shoved a boy out of his way and the dark skinned boy turned to face the crowd.

"What the shuck is your problem?" Most of the boys looked down in shame and embarrassment, some faces turning red.

"Ya never seen a shuck girl before?"

"Nah, Alby not that I can remember! It's a welcomed sight! She's hot, wouldn't mind touchin' her again." Chuckled one boy with short brown hair and a smooth oily voice, he was the only one not looking away in shame. The boy named Alby, who had the commanding voice from earlier, looked him dead in the eye, and stared him down with such a scowl, the sleezy boy looked away with a huff. He then looked each boy in the eye as he turned in a slow circle.

"NO ONE TOUCHS THE SHE- BEAN! You touch her and I will personally send you on a one way trip to spend the shuck night with the shuck Grievers! Good that?" He yelled.

Newt had crouched down in front of the small girl curled on the ground, her head in her hands whimpering slightly. A frown of worry etched on his face

"I'm sorry about that. These shanks don't remember ever seein' a girl... not that it's right, what they did. It's sick, and ain't right in any way! They do that again and I'll shove 'em off The Cliff myself." He said, anger in his Britch voice.

"Okay, come on love, up ya get" he said gently, he helped the girl slowly to her feet again. She was hit by another wave of dizziness.

It was the first time she got a good look at where the cage took her. They were in a huge courtyard. A dilapidated wood structure stood in one corner, a red barn with a fence and animals in another corner. What looked like a decent garden in another and a thick little forest in the last corner. A few other little wood huts and a small cement structure stood out of the way, by one of the walls.

Walls. Surrounding all of this were walls. Huge solid stone walls, that went hundreds of feet into the air, in parts of the wall there was thick green ivy growing onto the mossy stone. In the middle of each wall there was an opening, as tall as the walls. She couldn't see anything out there, it was too dark. She spun around trying to take everything in.

The boys were laughing and wolf whistling. She was too busy trying to comprehend what she was seeing. It made her even more dizzy, trying to see everything at once. Her breathing became shallow again, her chest rising too fast, gasping for air. Her throat felt tight, her lungs were being squeezed, her head was pounding, the gash on her forehead didn't help, she felt sick. She was getting sharp pain in her chest. She was absolutely terrified. She could feel herself blacking out, she couldn't see anything, all the noise was just static, legs shaking.

"Not again" she breathed out, her legs finally gave out, and her vision went black.

Before everything faded she heard a young boy's voice in the back of her mind.

"I'm here. I'm Here. I'm right here!" it sounded like he was screaming it at her, in her mind.
