"Brother, wait!" Genya Shinazugawa cried out, an arm extended outwards, as he raced after his elder brother. Once again, the elder of the two dismissed Genya's attempts at reconciliation and abruptly left the room without a word. Since seeing Sanemi was a rarity, given he was a pillar, the young swordsman was unwilling to let the opportunity he had to speak with Sanemi slip away so easily. Agitated, the wind hashira stopped in the middle of the hallway and turned on his heel, his face contorted into a frown.
"How many times do I have to tell you? You aren't talented, you can't even use breaths! Leave the demon slayer corps before you get yourself killed, idiot!" The Hashira's voice sounded more raspy and hoarse than usual, something which did not go unnoticed by Genya. As Genya stopped a mere metre or so in front of Sanemi, he observed on closer inspection that his sibling appeared rather pale. "Brother, I can prove to you that I can be useful, I swear it! And...are you ok? You don't look-" Sanemi swiped away the hand offered to him, a sinister snarl appearing across his lips, which caused what little hope Genya held onto for this interaction to gradually disintegrate. The young man should have become accustomed to this sense of disappointment by now, yet it still hurt him like an open wound every time.
"I don't have time for this, I need to-" All of a sudden, as Sanemi turned to walk away from Genya, his surroundings began to spin violently, causing the man to stumble forward. "Sanemi? What is it? What's the matter?" Genya's words, despite the lad being close in proximity, sounded distant. The dizziness that engulfed Sanemi was enough to turn his stomach, his head felt fit to burst. Unfortunately, the white-haired man didn't so much as manage a single step before he collapsed into a heap on the ground, succumbing to the darkness that consumed him.
"Sanemi!" Genya roared at the top of his lungs, lunging to his brother's side and cradling the elder's head in his arms, tears threatening his eyes. "Sanemi! Can you hear me? Sanemi, wake up!" The black haired boy shook Sanemi's shoulder rigorously, planting an ear to his big brother's chest to check that he was alive. To his relief, he heard Sanemi's heart thumping away within his chest. The commotion caused by the brothers, particularly Genya's frantic cries, drew the attention of Tanjiro Kamado, who was close by in that moment in time.
"Genya! What is it?" Tanjiro quickly rounded the corner to see Genya holding Sanemi close to him, softly weeping into his brother's winter white hair. In an instant, Tanjiro was at Genya's side, shocked at the sight of the infamously feared wind hashira being rendered unconscious. "He was going to walk away from me...then he just collapsed! Now he won't wake up!" The younger Shinazugawa brother elaborated through choked sobs, tenderly cupping Sanemi's cheek and resting his own forehead against Sanemi's, wincing at the heat that radiated from the touch. Tanjiro, touched by this sentiment and rare display of affection from Genya, figured that given what Genya had told him that it was likely Sanemi had come down with some sort of ailment. The ichimatsu donned boy knew of one thing that would be beneficial in such a situation, which would be to take the pillar to the Butterfly estate to be treated.
"Genya, let's take Shinazugawa to the Butterfly estate, Shinobu is knowledgeable about all sorts of medicine so I'm sure she can help us!" Tanjiro flashed a reassuring smile to Genya, which did make the fellow swordsman feel somewhat at ease something that, since he met Tanjiro, had been an occurrence he couldn't quite comprehend. Regardless, Tanjiro's idea was sensible one and the two demon slayers worked together to lift Sanemi and carry him the short distance to the Butterfly Mansion.
