In California, Jonathan stood outside the gas station where he worked. "What are you eating?" Eric, his roommate, asked.

"Your weed gummies," Jonathan responded. "Good luck getting high now."

Jonathan received a call on his phone. It was an unknown number, so he ignored it. However, moments later, he received a text from the same number.

Unknown: Hey. I don't know if you remember me, but it's Dustin Henderson. Please call me back. It's about Will.

"I have to answer this," Jonathan said. He hadn't heard from anyone in Hawkins in a while. Jonathan called the number back, and Dustin answered after the second ring. "Hey. What's up?"

"Hey, Jonathan," Dustin said. "Um, last night Will was attacked."

Jonathan nearly dropped his phone. "What?" he asked. Jonathan felt the tears well up in his eyes. "Is he-"

"He's alive," Dustin interrupted. Jonathan released a heavy breath. "He's in pretty bad shape. He got stabbed a few times. They found him with a broken ankle, and he was barely breathing when the police got there. He survived the surgery. The last I heard, Will was resting. I know you two haven't talked in a while, but can you at least call-"

"I'll be on the next plane," Jonathan said. He knew their mom was probably not in town. He didn't want Will to be alone right now. "Hey. Do they have any idea who did this?"

Jonathan didn't think his brother was someone with dangerous enemies. Jonathan took a sigh. as if he was deciding his following words. "Will said it was someone in a freaking ghost face mask," Dustin explained.

Jonathan ended the call. "I have to go home," Jonathan said. "My brother is in the hospital."

"I'll go with you," Eric said.

"You don't have to," Jonathan said.

"No," Eric said. "I'm coming with you."

At Hawkins High, Will's friends gathered around the outside eating area. "That was Jonathan," Dustin said. "He's going to catch the next available plane."

"Funny that he only comes around when ghost face is involved," Max said.

Mike arrived with Jane a few moments later. "Mike thinks we should get Life360," Jane said.

"With a new ghost face, it's the safest option," Mike responded.

"It could be an isolated incident," Jane said.

"It's never an isolated incident," Nancy said. "Come on, Mike. Mom wants you home now."

"We were going to visit Will in the hospital," Mike said.

"Sorry, I agree with Mom on this one," Nancy said. "With another ghost face, you shouldn't be out long."

"And get off social media," Dustin said. "Makes you a harder target."

"Ghost face has made house attacks before," Mike responded. "Nowhere is completely safe. Anyway, I can't leave now. Your mom wants to interrogate me about Will's attack."

"She's interrogating everyone," Dustin said. His phone vibrated, "Will is awake. I'll meet you guys there."

"Can I get a ride with you?" Max asked.

"Yeah, sure," Dustin said. Max noticed purple marks on Mike's arms.

"Will said he put up a struggle," Max explained. "Mike is pretty bruised."

"It's called gym class," Mike said. "Dodge ball."

"Funny, Will's attacker was supposedly texting from your phone," Mike argued. "Who's to stay that video wasn't taken earlier?"

"He saw us together," Max said. "The psycho probably copied my phone."

"It's always two killers," Nancy responded. "Expect Stab three and eight, but we don't discuss those."

"Let's go before the new curfew kicks in," Dustin said.

"I'll try to be there," Mike responded.

"I have to go to work," Jane said. "I will meet up with you guys later."

The group went their different ways as Jonathan's plane entered the sky.
