Rosalie stopped near the outskirts of an abandoned house in the woods. She followed Killian's directions to the shoe store and discovered that same sweet smell that was around the school. So she followed it down a side path until she reached the house. And had she not been paying attention, she would have missed the trick of light coming from around the property. To her, it looked abandoned and dilapidated, but being with Isabella and her family long enough taught her that things weren't always as they seemed. So Rosalie looked around the house, and when she turned her head a certain way, she saw it. There was a barrier, and it ended just inches from Rosalie's shoes. It distorted parts of the house, and she took three steps back. Magic was unpredictable and way out of her wheelhouse. So she drew a line somewhere only she would see and retraced her steps.

Kieran did help at the fire like she promised she would, but when her timer went off, she ducked away from her family and had every intention of going back to where she left Bella. But Rosalie found her first, and Kieran nearly screamed when the vampire appeared in front of her.

"I thought we talked about you and Emmett not doing that," she said, holding her chest.

"Sorry, it's urgent. Where's your sister?"

Kieran grimaced and said, "Please don't be mad at me."

"Why would I be mad at you?"

"Because Bella did something impulsive, and I kind of let her?"

Rosalie took a large and much unneeded breath before asking, "Where is she?"

"In there," Kieran said, pointing to the woods. "And when I say in there, I mean in a literal sense. She told me to give her ten minutes, and if she wasn't out by then, I have to have Mom get her out. She said the only way she could stop the fire was to tackle it from inside the trees and fix it from there."

Rosalie closed her eyes, her jaw clenching in irritation, and she asked, "How long has it been since she's been in there?"

"About nine minutes," Kieran said.

"Great. Just." Rosalie put her hands on Kieran's shoulders and bowed her head. "God, I have the world's most complicated and impulsive mate," she sighed. "And I can't even do anything about it because I have no magic."

"I'm sorry -

"Stop. It's not your fault. I have to trust that Isabella knew what she was doing when she went in there, but that's not why I needed her. Killian called me. They found Charlie in a ditch after he was attacked, and whoever attacked him, kidnapped Em. I found some kind of house hidden behind a shiny barrier, which I can only assume is magical in nature considering where I am, and - shit. I was kind of depending on Bella's magic to get Em out of there."

Kieran tried not to be insulted by it, but based on Rosalie's apologetic smile, she failed.

"Wait, that came out wrong. I didn't mean -

"Just stop," Kieran said flatly. "We need to go tell my Mom that her eldest daughter and partner are in danger. Maybe she can give you that raw magic you are looking for."

Kieran turned and walked off, and Rosalie sighed.

"Good job, Hale. Good fucking job," she muttered.

Emmett saw Rosalie and Kieran coming down the street and felt relieved. Then a little worried because Rosalie had a guilty look in her eyes, and Kieran was annoyed. Sighing to himself, Emmett met them at the gate, fully preparing to play mediator.

"What happened?" he asked.

"Nothing," Kieran said. "Was the fire taken care of? No one was there when we walked past."

"Sort of? Mom put this bubble around it, so it is still burning, but the school is safe. Kara is helping Killian track down the guy who attacked Charlie. But there is still no word from Bella, which I hope you can explain, and still nothing from Em, which I also hope you can explain?"

"Killian didn't tell you?" Rosalie asked.

"I haven't actually seen him. Most of my information came from Kara when she stopped by to drop off Ruby, Sam, and Jess. Charlie was knocked out when I got here, and Tink's on nurse duty for the time being. Mom is trying to do a location spell on Em, but it's not working."

"It is better to tell you both at the same time," Kieran said.

"Okay, but are you going to tell me what's wrong?"

"There is nothing wrong."

"I said something stupid," Rosalie sighed.

Kieran rolled her eyes and walked ahead, and Emmett whistled.

"You must have said something really stupid for her to be that mad."

"I accidentally implied that Bella's magic was our best chance at rescuing Em."

Emmett grimaced hard and said, "I know Kieran usually prefers to let Bella take over, but you have no idea what she is capable of."

"I know that," Rosalie gritted out. "I tried apologizing, but she won't hear me out."

"And she won't. Not for a little while. I did the same thing when we were younger, and she stopped talking to me for a week." Emmett shrugged and gave Rosalie a dry smile. "She holds grudges just like our mother," he said.

"Great, then it'll be Christmas before she forgives me."

"Or Halloween. Be hopeful."

Rosalie glared at him and stomped off, and Emmett laughed as he ran to catch up. The two entered the house to find Kieran leaning on the wall, watching Regina make another phone call to Em.

"Seriously, this is not the time for games, Swan. Where the hell are you?"

Regina ended the voicemail and looked up, finally noticing her audience, and she ran a hand over her face.

"Do any of you happen to know where the Sheriff is?" she asked.

Emmett and Kieran shared a look, silently arguing over who would tell her, and Kieran nodded. She turned to Regina and held up her hands.

"Mom, I need you to take a deep breath."

"I am in no mood for games. Just tell me what is going on. And where is your sister?"

"Bella went into the woods," Kieran said slowly, "and she wanted me to tell you that if she was not back in ten minutes, that she was the one who ripped your dress when we were younger. That was about eleven minutes ago."

"And Em was kidnapped," Emmett added. "They were taken a couple of hours ago when Charlie got attacked. But Rosalie found a house in the woods with a magical barrier around it, so we think that is our best place to start."

Regina twitched and covered her face with her hand. She turned her back on them, and only Emmett and Rosalie could hear the shuddering breaths she was taking. When she collected herself, Regina placed her phone down on the table and waved a hand over herself. Her Storybrooke wear was replaced by a pair of black riding pants and a loose white shirt, tucked into her pants. She threw her hair into a ponytail and placed her hands on her hips.

"Okay. Here is what is going to happen." Regina stepped up to Emmett and poked him in the chest. "You will take Kieran and Rosalie back to that house and save Em. This is a direct order. Not from your mother, but from your Queen. Am I clear, soldier?" she asked.

Emmett snapped to attention and gave her a short nod.

"Yes, your Majesty."

"Good. Kieran, sweetheart, I know how much you hate tapping into that side of your magic, but I need that right now. We all do. Snow and Charming think they have the upperhand. Remind them of who you are and what you can do."

Kieran played with the ring on her finger and said, "Yes, ma'am."

Regina gave Rosalie a long look, and her tone was exceptionally softer as she said, "I'm going to get her, and I promise I will bring her back. Can you promise me the same?"

Rosalie nodded once.

"I promise."

Kieran hopped from Emmett's back with ease and stared at the barrier protecting the house Rosalie found.

"What's the plan on getting in?" Emmett asked.

Kieran grinned and unbuttoned her shirt, leaving her in a tank top. She wrapped the shirt around her knuckles and placed it against the barrier.

"You have gotta be kidding me. Your plan is to punch-"

Emmett stopped when Kieran's fist went straight through the barrier, causing it to shatter and fall away as if it were made of the thinnest glass. She tossed her shirt to the side, the fabric torn and useless, and she flexed her fingers as the Blue Fairy appeared in front of her. It took a moment, but when the Fairy recognized her, her face twisted in disgust and anger.

"You," she spat. "You look like your mother."

"Which one?" Kieran deadpanned.

The Blue Fairy waved dismissively at the question and said, "Turn away now, child. This does not concern you."

"It does if Em is in that house," she said.

"Sorry, dear. I am afraid I have no idea who that is."

"Do not play games with me, you insipid insect. Either move, or be moved."

"You and your mother have the arrogance of a God, but it is misplaced. You may have grown in your magical abilities, but you are not as formidable as you think you are."

Kieran smiled and asked, "Would you like to bet your life on that? Your magic against mine is a battle I will take any and every day."

"This isn't a fight you want, Fairy," Emmett warned. "Don't let your memories of the past blind you to the reality of your future."

Kieran and Rosalie looked at him, and Emmett scowled.
"I can have my moments too," he huffed.

"Oh, no, I was going to say that was really powerful and wise," Kieran said.

"It also sounds exactly like that fortune cookie Bella threw at Ruby," Rosalie added.

Emmett winked cheekily, and Kieran snorted. She took a step toward Blue and lowered her voice.

"You will die today. Now, whether that is before you give me what I came here for is completely up to you. But honestly, have some dignity in your final moments. Do the right thing, Blue. Give me the Savior, unharmed, and I will choose the quick and painless route. Fight me, and you will suffer."

"I am not afraid of you, and I am not afraid of your mother. The only person dying here today will be you and your friends."

"Very well." Kieran tilted her head, speaking to Emmett without looking away from Blue, and added, "Would you mind terribly eliminating Blue's backup plan hiding in the woods? They are beginning to get annoying."

Emmett and Rosalie glanced around, confused, and Kieran waved her hand at the bushes around them. Six of the seven dwarves screamed as they were forcibly pulled out from their hiding spots, and Kieran smiled.

"Six is good enough. I apologize for the seventh, as Leroy will not be joining us. Did you know there was a bolo out for him for attacking a cop? I can hardly imagine he will get a warm welcome when they find him strung up by his ankles in front of Town Hall."

Blue's eyes flashed with fury, and Kieran held up her hand. Blue froze mid-swing, her face twisted in rage and confusion, and she shook her finger side to side.

"Ah, ah, ah. You chose the slow and painful option, remember? Now, you get to watch your precious friends die and be unable to help them. A similar experience you liked to inflict on children with their parents."

"Let her go!"

Kieran scowled and glanced back, the dwarves finally recovering long enough to pick up their variety of weapons, and she rolled her eyes.

"You idiots have the worst observational skills," she said. "Do you truly think I would bring amateurs with me? Leave, and you might make it far enough to call for help."

"Do you mind giving me a moment?" Rosalie's eyes were almost black when Kieran looked at her, and Rosalie winced. "One of them is bleeding, and I haven't hunted in a few days," she said.

"Have at it, I guess," Kieran said, shrugging.

The blonde was a blur as she picked off two dwarfs. When she returned to their side, she licked blood away from the corner of her lips, and the remaining dwarfs stared at their fallen brothers in disbelief. The two Rosalie chose had been, for lack of a better word, slaughtered.

"I have never seen you eat so messily," Emmett teased.

Rosalie smirked and said, "You should see how I am with your sister."

Emmett and Kieran both dry-heaved, and their attention was diverted when two of the dwarves threw down their weapons and ran. Emmett chased after them, and Kieran stepped to the side as they came flying toward her. They were unconscious before they hit the ground. Emmett appeared behind the last two, and they turned in unison just as his hands smashed their heads together. Emmett wiped his hands on his shirt and stepped over the bodies.

"Want us to go inside and check things out?"

"Yes, please," Kieran said.

Rosalie and Emmett ran ahead, and Emmett kicked down the door before the two went inside. Kieran dropped her hand, and the Blue Fairy was released from her spell. Her arm never completed its journey, as she was still looking at her men. Or what was left of them. Kieran smiled and rocked back on her heels.

"Now, you said something about me not being formidable. Let's test that theory, shall we?"

Kieran tapped the ring on her finger and let her magic spread through her limbs and throughout body before dropping her illusion. Lena Luthor had been a creation of Kieran's own desire, a careful and meticulous glamor that took years to create. Kieran Mills had been a child with too much time on her hands, and she was never quite gone when Lena was created. Instead, she lurked in the deepest and darkest parts of her mind, waiting. Red smoke wrapped around Kieran and left her in a black dress, long black hair, and symbols that glowed gold on her skin. She smiled at Blue, looking eerily like her mother, and she slid her foot forward.

A sheet of ice spread across the grass, and Blue began to slide and stumble. Kieran waved her arm in a wide motion, and pieces of the ice erupted from the ground in small circles. She sent them flying toward Blue at high speeds, and Blue had to dodge and duck most of them, but a few caught the edge of her cheek. She had small cuts that steadily dripped blood down her face, but Blue ignored them in favor of trying to stay alive. She swung her wand, and Kieran dodged the burst of magic speeding toward her head. She batted away the second, the third, and when Blue aimed the fourth, Kieran held out her hand.

"Give me that," she huffed.

Blue strained and used both hands, but the wand flew from her grasp and into Kieran's awaiting palm. Kieran started giggling and did a little dance, waving the wand and pretending to be a fairy.

"Tell me, child," she mocked. "Whatever you wish, I will grant." Kieran stopped and cocked her head. "Well, unless you are not a pretty little princess, then I cannot help you," she added.

Kieran used her free hand and flicked down. Ice encased Blue's legs, and she screamed as the sharper edges dug into her calves. Blue waved her hand, but Kieran skated to the side. The ice around Blue's legs began to turn a light red, and Kieran held up the wand.

"Honestly? I am not sure you will need this anymore," Kieran sighed.

Kieran brought the wand down against her knee. Sparks of magic flew out and into the air, and Blue finally - finally - had a raw and genuine look of fear. Kieran glided around the woman, watching as the ice slowly made its way up Blue's body.

"My mother told me about the nights she cried for you, and how you never showed up."

Kieran twirled her finger in a lazy spiral until the wind was blowing so hard that the trees were uprooted from the dirt. She sent a silent apology to her sister before she held out her arm and caused the trees around them to explode into tiny shards. Her other hand sent a protective barrier around the house, just in case, and she focused on the wooden splinters hovering in the air. Kieran skidded to a stop directly in front of Blue's face.

"Did you give Snow those beans?" she whispered.

Blue spat in her face, and Kieran lightly grabbed her by the neck.

"Were you scared of my mother?"

"Never."

"You misunderstand me." Kieran dug her nails into Blue's throat and dragged them down, leaving red streaks in her wake, and she tore open the top of the woman's shirt. "I was not referring to Regina," she said. "I meant my other mother."

Blue faltered, and Kieran placed her hand in the center of her chest, right over her heart. The organ raced under her palm, and she tapped her fingers against the skin.

"You were," she murmured. "I wonder what my mother did to scare you so much, hmm? Was it because she was one of few people who could control and wield Hell's Gold?" Kieran made sure her ring rubbed against Blue's skin, and the woman started shaking. "That would explain why you were so willing to help Snow get rid of us. You knew if we could wield Hell's Gold, we were more powerful than you and all the fairy dust in the world. We were dangerous because we did not fit in your perfect mold. You loathed what we represented, that the line between good and evil was a lot thinner than you believed it to be."

"You should have died when you put it on!" the woman exclaimed. "Only those with pure evil in their veins -

"Oh, spare me. I merely wanted to test a theory that I had in my head. Now that I know the truth, I can give my mother peace. Both of them."

Kieran shoved her hand into Blue's chest and paused. She had never actively done it before, only in her head, and it was a strange sensation. Kieran looked into Blue's eyes when she finally removed the heart. She held it in her hand and watched it pulse red and bright. There were small dark spots along the edge, but not nearly as much as it should have been.

"Wow," she whispered.

Kieran exhaled, and the wind died down, even though the wooden shards still floated in the air around her. The ice receded back into her body, leaving the grass wet and cold, and all that remained was Blue and the house. Kieran cocked her head and brought the heart to her lips, and she commanded Blue to scream, just as the shards flew toward her body. Blue screamed as she was impaled, and Kieran put the woman out of her misery with a twitch of her hand, letting the ashes of her heart drift away.

Rosalie shut the curtains and stepped back, and Emmett came up behind her with Em in his arms.

"Kieran is all the worst parts of our mother, and all the best parts of the other. But when one goes silent…the other takes over."

"So, which one was that?" Rosalie murmured.

"Which one do you think?"
