Hello readers, it's been a long time since I was last active. But during that time, I wrote the outline for this story and I'm really excited about writing it.

I intend to complete the open works on my account, but everything in due time.

Now for some initial information before you start reading:

1 – English IS NOT MY NATIVE LANGUAGE! I have limited writing skills, so I ask you to overlook any errors, criticisms accepted, as long as they are done within what is considered respectful.

2 – The pokémon world is mainly based on the anime in this story, although there are also elements of the games involved.

3 – About relationships between characters, honestly, I intended it to be a story without any kind of romantic involvement, but thanks to a suggestion from an old friend of mine, I decided that I would include romance, but it would be slow and gradual. The main focus is on the development of the protagonist in search of his dream, everything else achieved naturally and in due time. It could be a single pair, or even a harem (even though that last option is relatively inspired to happen, and IF it happens, it will be with a very small number of girls.)

4 – I will update the stories as the chapters are completed, and I will not give a fixed deadline. I'd rather go at my own pace and have fun writing than create an obligation that tires me out of inspiration. Be patient, everything attended to in due time.

No more wasting your time, enjoy reading

Children are encouraged to dream, to live in a world far from reality to keep their innocence intact. Do you want to be an astronaut? Play with imaginary rockets!

Want to be a cop? So grab some toys and imagine approaching as innocently as possible.

But among so many children with different dreams at the Viridian Orphanage, one of them had a simple dream:

See your mother again.

Ashura Satoshi, or more commonly known as 'Ash', is a boy among many others who for some reason doesn't have any family, left to his own luck if it weren't for the orphanage he's been staying at since a young age.

The world is not a fair place, and Ash is part of a group of teenagers who were not lucky enough to be adopted, and now almost 18 years old, he is about to reach the maximum age allowed to live in the orphanage, it's not fair, but that's how life works for some people.

Ash has a mother, and she is alive, now you might be wondering, if he has a mother, why is he in an orphanage? Simple, Delia Satoshi didn't want to have any memories of her ex-husband with her, and since she didn't want the responsibility of raising him, the orphanage became a perfect solution, not that Ash could argue when he was nothing more than a child with 4 years old.

The years passed quickly, and innocent dreams died as Ash grew older. Discovering that the world is not a magical place has that impact on people. However, something caught the boy's attention and became the trigger of a new inaccessible dream.

Become a Pokemon trainer.

Pokémon, the creatures that live alongside humanity since ancient times and that have powers that defy imagination, are a reason for appreciation and fascination for many people of different professions and ages. But like everything that generates fascination, it is also seen as a possible source of profit.

Pokémon League tournaments, once accessible, have become extremely elite, and only the lucky few with financial support would have the chance to come close to competing on the big stages, the same goes for Pokémon coordinators, who are literally stars living off their image and their results in Pokémon Contests.

With the increase in money involving these modalities, the governments of different countries created a series of rules to regulate competitions, forcing trainers and coordinators to be prepared in exclusive schools for aspiring competitors.

And these schools are insanely expensive for any average person to even consider enrolling in.

Of course, nothing prevents someone from trying their luck and starting a journey without having a degree, but without sponsors the dream quickly becomes an unfeasible nightmare, so ordinary people are content to watch on TV the few who have the chance to live the dream. , compete against the best in the world.

Ash has dreams of being the best Pokémon trainer in the world, but he's not naïve, and he knows he has better things to worry about, like...

"Ash! Pikachu ate all the Ketchup in the kitchen, I swear to Arceus, that mouse is going to have a heart attack one day!" Ash winced at the boss's screams, and dropped his broom against the side of the gym's battlefield.

Yes, he is responsible for cleaning Viridian's gym, the last hurdle before the Kanto Pokémon League. How did he get the job? Simple, one fine day Ash realized he had two choices: Work or become a beggar, and since he had nothing to lose, he went to the gym and asked for the job when he saw an advertisement on the wall near the entrance to the gym. And since no one would want to be a janitor without having any other choice, Ash took the job.

"I'm sorry boss, I'm going to clean up what my Pokemon messed up." A 17-year-old boy with messy black hair and a sharp, slightly androgynous face, with 'z' marks on his cheeks, wearing a red hat with a Poké Ball in the center, white shirt and blue jacket open on the chest, having a pair of black gloves without fingers in hand, blue jeans and a pair of slightly worn red sneakers, he listened to his boss's complaint. With a tired sigh, Ash went into the kitchen, and smacked himself in the forehead when he saw his Pikachu at the crime scene, with 5 open ketchup bottles and a dirty face.

"…Pikapi?" Pikachu extended a ketchup pot with its tiny paws.

Ash knelt down and narrowed his eyes at his yellow friend. "I understand you love Ketchup, but you can't break into the gym kitchen, one of these days I'm going to lose my job, and with no job, no money to buy the Ketchup you love, so please Pikachu, behave like a Pokémon obedient." Pikachu flattened his ears, embarrassed by what he had done.

But Ash couldn't get mad at Pikachu, and scratched his yellow friend's head. "Hey, stop being sad, I'm not going to get mad over a simple ketchup, but you need to learn to fix your mistakes, come on, get a rag under the sink and help me with this mess."

Pikachu ran to get the cloth, and when he reached it, he smelled the cleaning products, turned his face and sneezed. "Pi...pi...pikachu!" The Electric Pokemon fired a Thunderbolt with the sneeze, and unfortunately for Ash, he was the unfortunate target of the powerful Electric attack.

Giovanni Sasaki, the fearsome Gym Leader of Viridian, successful businessman and owner of enterprises...shall we say...below the margin of the law, is an intimidating looking man, and no one wants to get on his bad side. The man wearing an expensive-looking suit arrived in the kitchen upon hearing his employee's screams, and raised an eyebrow to see Ash lying on the floor, scorched, with smoke coming out of his hair and Pikachu poking the boy in the face with a paw.

"I should be surprised, but honestly, it's amazing how I've gotten used to this kind of ridiculous scene." Giovanni spotted a rag next to the ketchup pots and started cleaning up the mess that Pikachu had orchestrated.

Yes, the most feared man in the criminal underworld of Kanto and Johto is wiping the floor with an old rag.

It didn't take long to finish cleaning, and Giovanni got up to see that Ash was regaining consciousness.

"Ugh…did someone take down the license plate of the Taurus that ran me over?" Ash sat on the floor and scratched the back of his head. He looked around from where he was standing, and when he saw a pair of leather shoes, he swallowed hard and slowly looked up... only to see Giovanni staring at him with a straight face.

"I slipped?" Giovanni shook his head at the horrible lie and held out a hand that Ash took and with a single tug, the Gym Leader had his employee on his feet.

"Boy, I honestly don't know why I keep you employed at my gym." Ash gulped, he might have gone over the edge this time.

"Sorry..." Ash whispered, and Pikachu jumped onto his friend's shoulder and flattened his ears with a sad expression.

"Don't be sorry, do something better. Follow me." Giovanni left the kitchen, and Ash followed with slow steps. It didn't take long for them to arrive at the battlefield of the gym, and when they were in the center of the place, Giovanni stopped walking, and without looking at the boy who followed him, he started to speak.

"I saw you sneaking training after hours." Ash was horrified, it's official, he's in trouble. "Training any Pokémon, wild or domestic, without permission from the Pokémon League, or accompanied by a qualified person, is considered a crime, with a prison sentence of 6 months to 3 years, or a fine." Giovanni turned and faced the boy who was trying to disappear like a Digglet into the earth.

"So tell me. Why?" Ash didn't understand the question, Giovanni softened the tense gaze. "Whenever I asked you if you wanted to learn how to train Pokémon, you said no, continuing to work as a janitor. So Ash, why do you do this in secret?"

Ash looked at Pikachu and then at Giovanni, and with a tired sigh, began to speak. "I don't want to dream of something unattainable, but Pikachu loves to battle, so I train with him in the gym, look, if you're going to fire me, please say so soon, the orphanage curfew is coming soon."

No one ever had the nerve to speak to Giovanni like that, and he had every right to be angry, but he smiled instead. If half the members of Team Rocket had this kid's courage, he wouldn't be in so much trouble. It was then that he had an idea that seemed silly, but soon became something really interesting. And it was a chance to see if Ash has what it takes to be more than just another face in the crowd.

"A battle," Giovanni said, leaving Ash confused.

"Eh?" The poor boy didn't know how to respond.

"I said, a battle. You and your Ketchup-addicted Pikachu will battle me in the vein of a gym challenge. Your job depends on a win." Ash looked at his boss like he was a freak.

Ash shook his head in denial. "You've got to be kidding me, it's impossible to beat you! I've never been in an official Pokémon battle, and you're the most powerful gym leader in Kanto! It's like pitting a Caterpie against an Articuno and hoping something good happens."

"I didn't give you the option to give up boy, if you deny this battle I will report you to the police, now go to the challenger's corner and fight like a man." The Gym Leader's steely tone sent shivers down the aspiring janitor's spine.

With slow steps, Ash reached the challenger's side and looked at Pikachu. "Friend, we don't have much choice, I know we've never fought before, but if we're going to have to fight my crazy boss, at least we're going to do our best. Can I count on you Pikachu?"

The electric Pokémon jumped off its shoulder and positioned itself in front of its best friend. "Pikapi!"

A tremor in the battle ground caught the duo's attention, and before them, a huge Pokémon made Ash's blood run cold.

"Oh man, out of all your Pokemon, did it have to be this Rhydon?" The intimidating Ground/Rock-type Pokémon stood imposingly in front of Giovanni.

"I never make it easy in my battles, now show me what you and your tiny Pikachu are made of! Rhydon, use Earthquake and Tackle!" The huge Pokémon jumped and caused an earthquake to take over the battlefield, Pikachu lost his balance and Ash watched in horror as the colossus charged like a locomotive towards his yellow friend.

"Damn, there won't be time to dodge, Pikachu, try to get up and use Iron Tail and Thunderbolt at the same time." What happened next would be something that would stay in Giovanni's mind forever. Rhydon was about to hit the small electric Pokémon when Pikachu landed an Iron Tail on Rhydon's head, normally this move would be super effective, but the Thunderbolt that would normally be fired from the cheeks was instantly concentrated on the iron tail. Even with the type advantage for the Electric move, the concentrated power of the Thunderbolt was enough to make Rhydon quake in pain.

"Shit, the Static skill has been activated, Rhydon get ready." Ash couldn't contain his excitement to see that he was putting Giovanni on the ropes, and that was his fatal mistake.

"Let's take our chance, Pikachu, Volt Tackle at full power!" Giovanni's mouth fell open in shock as he saw Pikachu who was apparently in his first battle using one of the most powerful Electric-type moves in existence. But his experience spoke volumes, and the Gym Leader saw the opening he needed to turn the tide of battle.

When Pikachu was about to hit the target, Giovanni closed his eyes. "Use Megahorn Rhydon."

Everything happened in slow motion. Pikachu went to hit Rhydon, but the more experienced Pokémon lowered its head and its horn glowed, what happened next could be used as an example of physics in Pokémon battle. The speed of Pikachu's attack generated the force necessary for Megahorn to be effective, even with Rhydon paralyzed, and when the attack hit the electric mouse, it sent Pikachu flying towards Ash, who watched helplessly as his friend fell unconscious in front of his eyes. feet.

Ash fell to his knees and took his Pokémon in his arms, trapped in uncertain thoughts. Why did he lose? Everything seemed perfect, and Pikachu learned the Volt Tackle after so many months of non-stop training.

Really, he is a failure as a trainer.

"I'm sorry buddy, come on, I'll take you home and treat those wounds, thanks for fighting for me." Ash got up and started heading towards the gym's exit. Giovanni watched the boy leave, his expression unreadable.

The moment Ash disappeared from his field of vision, he returned Rhydon to his Poké Ball and stared at it in his hand. "He was so close, using instant combinations of moves is difficult even for experienced Pokémon coordinators, and he did it in his first official battle against an experienced Pokémon with type advantage, and as if it couldn't get any better, Ash did it. successfully teach Volt Tackle to Pikachu. He was only defeated by lack of experience, if he had ordered Pikachu to use another Iron Tail on the charge, I would have been finished."

Giovanni saw the boy's hat lying on the floor, and after walking towards the object, he picked it up and smiled softly. "He really is his son, this boy has the gift to be a monster on the battlefield, and maybe this is my chance to do some good for the first time in my life. Red, I will repay my debt by making sure Ash becomes the best trainer he can be." Giovanni took a black communicator from his suit pocket and pressed a button.

Bringing the device to his ear, he said a few words that would be the beginning of a boy's path to greatness.

"Steven, it's me, Giovanni. Remember that vacancy that was offered for a nomination on my behalf? I found the right person."

Across the ocean in Hoenn, the region's Pokemon league champion, Steven Stone, was in his office analyzing a recent archaeological find when he got a call from an old acquaintance, and almost choked on the coffee he was drinking when he heard something. that I didn't expect to be possible.

Giovanni Sasaki found someone suitable for the nomination.

"Uh…I'll be honest, I wasn't prepared to hear that. But tell me, who is the boy or girl who won the interest of 'the most dangerous man in Kanto and Johto'?" Giovanni tapped his forehead with his hand on the other end of the line, typical Steven, always relaxed even in serious matters.

"Listen, it's a boy, he's an orphan and he used to work with me as a janitor in my gym until today, his name is Ashura Satoshi." Steven spat out his coffee when he heard the name.

"Wait a damn minute, isn't Ashura Satoshi the name of THAT man's son? Is he related to Red?! How did I not know he has a son? The guy is more intimidating than you, and that's saying a lot!"

Giovanni gripped the communicator angrily, took a deep breath, and caught himself. It's not worth losing patience, he'll have a chance to meet Steven in the future... "What I can tell you is that Red had his reasons, and the kid believes he's an orphan, so please don't do anything rash. What matters is that I sent the name of my chosen one for the vacancy."

"Okay, I get it, I accept the kid, how could I refuse that guy's son? But I need someone to sign the permit for Ash to be able to live in our school's dorms, and as far as I know, his mother abandoned him several years ago."

"As for that, don't worry, at this moment an email has arrived for you with permission to stay, I have to hang up, I need to start preparing for the boy, see you soon Steven." Giovanni turned off the communicator and at the same moment a man in Team Rocket uniform entered the gym.

"Mister Giovanni, I received a message from the emergency communicator, I am waiting for your orders." Giovanni nodded and headed for the gym's exit, where a limousine was waiting.

"Operation Judas is officially on." Rocket Grunt's eyes widened, but then he saluted.

"Understood!" And just as he appeared, the grunt left to start the operation that has been prepared for 17 years, the legacy of a man who was once Giovanni's greatest enemy, but who was also responsible for changing the man who a day lived only by power.

In hoenn, Steven opened his e-mail and when he opened the most recent message, he nearly had a heart attack.

Put the kid in the Ketchum suite, that's a direct order Steven, no kidding, no double entenders. My son is going to attend the Pokémon academy and I'm absolutely sure he's going to be the best student in his class.

All my child's expenses and living expenses must be credited to my bank account.

PS: Stop drinking coffee before you have a heart attack, you idiot!

PPS: If Delia dares try to stop my boy from competing or studying, let me know. That woman would do anything to try and affect me negatively.

See you soon;

Red Ketchum

Kanto champion and reigning World Coronation Series champion.

Steven banged his head on the computer keyboard, for the news of the champion's lost son would run like wildfire through a gallon of gas. All he can hope for is that the Pokémon Academy remains intact.

For the world would freeze before the shenanigans involving the Ketchum family.

"I've told you several times what happens to those who arrive after curfew!" An old lady yelled at Ash at the door of a building that looked like it had seen better days, the Viridian Orphanage.

"Look Dolores, I had a rough day at work, can I at least go upstairs and get my belongings?" The old woman was smoking a cigarette, and she took it out of her mouth to blow smoke in Ash's face.

"I should leave you to rot on the street where you belong, but at least today is the last day I have to put up with you, tomorrow you turn 18, and we both know what that means. You and that flea rat are going to have to disappear from my orphanage." Ash took a deep breath, returning insults never ended well for him, and the most surprising thing was that this old bitch remembered her birthday when not even he remembered it.

"Just…let me go to the bedroom." Ash started up the stairs, but stopped when Dolores laughed and spoke in a voice affected by years of smoking. "Remember, all belongings acquired by orphans are the property of the orphanage until they become emancipated or turn 18. If you take anything to take with you, I swear I'll get you out of here and straight to jail. And don't even think about dinner, you know the rules, if you're late, you don't eat." Ash gave the old woman the middle finger and went into the bedroom.

This orphanage was once busier, but currently has few children, not that it matters, life is sometimes unfair, and there's no use complaining if words aren't enough to change something.

Arriving in the bedroom, Ash opened the door and quickly closed it. Unsurprisingly, the room wasn't cleaned, and what little he'd managed to buy over the years would go to that damned lady. Dolores Hoffman is known internally as a total bitch to any kid, but nothing compares to greed, whenever someone achieves something she is on the prowl to try to cash in.

Pikachu who was in his arms continued to sleep, and Ash put him on the small bed in the room before taking the only super potion he managed to buy on the way back to the orphanage.

These healing items are insanely expensive, but it's the least he can do for his friend who fought when he didn't need it. The Pokémon's snout twitched with pain as the medicine began to be applied, but as soon as the pain started, it ended and Pikachu continued to sleep.

Ash took the backpack he had hidden under the bed and opened it to check the money he had saved, and to his relief, everything was the same as he left it. It's not a lot of money, but it would be enough for at least 2 months before he gets a new job, after all, Giovanni was pretty clear that he would need to win the battle to stay in the gym.

Without even taking off his clothes, Ash lay down on the bed and quickly fell asleep. The next day would be busy, and it was not known when he would have the opportunity to have a good night's sleep again.

The next day, the sun had barely risen to herald the onset of morning when someone knocked loudly on the bedroom door.

"Ash, get your ass out of my bed and get out of here soon or I'll call the police!" The boy opened his eyes at the screaming.

"Happy birthday…well, what a joke. Come on Pikachu, wake up before Dolores calls the police, knowing that old woman, it would be child's play for her to try to fuck up my life again.

Pikachu opened his eyes and stretched like a cat, which is ironic considering the fact that he's a mouse, and when he saw Ash, he threw himself into his friend's arms.

"Pikapi pika pikachu." The Pokémon nuzzled Ash's face before hopping onto his shoulder and perching where it rightfully belonged.

For the first time in nearly two days, Ash laughed with genuine joy. Pikachu is the only positive thing he gained during these years. Ash met him when he was just a Pichu who was lost and by mere chance he appeared in the backyard of the orphanage when Ash was 7 years old.

The electric Pokémon was initially extremely suspicious and even gave it a few electric shocks as a warning, but Ash's insistence made the Pokémon realize that it wouldn't be in any danger, and since then, both have been inseparable.

Ash got up, shouldered his backpack, and took one last look at the room that had been his home for fourteen years. "I wish I could say I will miss you, but I would be lying to myself, I just hope that whatever poor soul occupies this seat has a better luck than mine." Ash closed the door and walked down the hall to the stairs. His stomach rumbled with hunger, but it would be foolish to try to eat something so soon, especially when he is no longer the responsibility of the orphanage.

He was about to leave the building when a hand gripped his shoulder. "Where do you think you're going with that backpack?" Dolores made him turn around, the damn old woman had a shitty smile on her face.

Ash narrowed his eyes. "The backpack is mine, I bought it with my own money and it has my clothes in it, now let me go so I never see your wrinkled face again." Dolores's smile disappeared.

She put a finger on Ash's chest and practically growled as she spoke. "Listen here you piece of shit, absolutely EVERYTHING that goes into this orphanage doesn't leave my hands, I don't care what the hell you put in that backpack, but you're going to hand it over to me, or we're going to have a trip to nearest police station." Ash wanted to tell her to fuck off, but it just wasn't worth the effort. Ash took the backpack off his back and handed it to Dolores.

"You got what you wanted, now I'm getting out of here before you try to take my years of life as 'payment'." Ash tried to get out, but the old woman wouldn't let go of her shoulder.

"I told you NOTHING comes out of this orphanage, and that includes that yellow rat on your shoulder." That made Ash look at the old woman in utter astonishment, and then he got angry.

"I will never leave Pikachu with you." "Pikapi!" Human and Pokémon spoke at the same time, but Dolores didn't care.

"Fuck what you think, that flea mouse will give me a few bucks if I sell it to any rookie trainer, now put that flea in the pokeball and give it to me!" Ash was about to take more violent action when a familiar but unexpected voice caught everyone's attention.

"According to regular ownership regulations, any Pokémon can only be considered domestic if it is caught by a person with a Poké Ball. As long as this is not done, it is considered wild and is protected by environmental protection laws." Giovanni looked at Dolores with his typical expressionless attitude, and the old woman swallowed hard.

"Gi...Gi...Giovanni! What a pleasant surprise, what are you doing in this humble orphanage?" She tried to curry favor with the Gym Leader, but Giovanni wouldn't buy that smooth talk.

"Ash, follow me." The kid blinked twice, why was his former boss at the orphanage? Well, beggars are not choosers.

He started to follow the gym leader, but Dolores screamed. "Give me that Pokémon, it's MY property!"

Giovanni stopped walking and looked at Ash. "Boy, do you have this pokemon's pokeball?"

Ash scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. "Well, the truth is, I don't have the money to buy a Poké Ball, and Pikachu seems to hate them, so I never caught him."

A small smile adorned Team Rocket's leader's face. "Then I was almost defeated by an inexperienced boy and a wild Pokemon, my reputation is tarnished."

Ash was embarrassed, but Dolores looked at Pikachu like he was made of gold.

"Unbelievable, did this fleabag almost defeat Kanto's strongest Gym Leader as a wild Pokémon? I'm not going to lose this source of money to a mangy boy, YOU'RE MINE, DAMN POKÉMON!" Dolores did something unexpected, she took a Poké Ball out of her pocket and threw it towards Pikachu. Ash and even Giovanni were shocked by the attitude, and all seemed lost, but Pikachu had other plans.

No one will take it away from PIkapi!

With an Iron Tail, Pikachu hit the Poké Ball, which came flying back towards Dolores' face, knocking her to the ground with a broken nose.

"You wretched rat! I will destroy your life Ash Satoshi! I'll make sure you rot in jail if it's the last thing I do!" She screamed with a hand over her bleeding nose. Giovanni narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms.

"Oh, and how are you going to frame the boy? After all, it's just a wild Pokemon, and you've exercised your right to attempt capture." Dolores gasped in shock, but she wasn't going to take it.

"Shit Taurus, the flea rat is Ash's, he has to pay me for the aggression!" This time it was Ash who glared at the old woman.

"Why do I have to pay something? It's just a wild Pokemon defending itself. I'm leaving here and never coming back, and I assure you, I'm never going to let you take anything away from me, least of all my friend." Ash turned and started to walk away, Dores shouted insults that would make a sailor blush, but no one really cared about the ramblings of a greedy old woman.

Ash and Giovanni walked a few meters until they reached a black Porsche. Ash looked at his former boss and asked something that had been on his mind since he showed up at the orphanage.

"Why did you come to help me? I thought I was fired." Giovanni leaned his back against the car and sighed.

"I didn't fire you, I just said you needed to beat me to keep your job. Boy, first rule in this world: Never take words for absolute truth, always think between the lines. And I need a reason to help a friend?" Ash nearly fell to the ground at what he heard.

"Hey! Wait a damn minute, since when do you consider me a friend? I thought he hated me, I always got him into trouble at the gym, well, it was almost always Pikachu's fault, but that doesn't change the fact that I almost always get in the way more than I help.

"Pikapi!" The electric mouse screamed indignantly at his friend, humans will never understand the wonder they created, the glorious Ketchup!

Then Giovanni did something completely out of character, he burst out laughing.

"Boy, do you know how boring my life is? Your and Pikachu's shenanigans were the best thing to happen to the Viridian Gym in years! Honestly, I initially thought about firing you, but after seeing your nightly practices with Pikachu, I could see the potential for something big. My initial intention was to prepare you to be the next Gym Leader in town." Ash's heart stopped for a second, was he going to become a goddamn gym leader?!

"But…why me?" Ash whispered, and Giovanni placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Why do you love Pokémon. I did many things that I regret Ash, but one day I was a boy with the dream of being a champion, unfortunately not everything in life happens the way we want, but I see in you the chance not to waste talent. And that's a big thing coming from me, it's not every day that the leader of Team Rocket himself gives someone a compliment." Ash gasped in shock and pointed a finger at the man in the suit.

"Are you the leader of Team Rocket?!" Ash screamed, and Giovanni hit him with a punch to the head, sending the poor boy to the ground with comical tears streaming down his face.

"Shut up! What kind of idiot yells that someone is a criminal? And frankly, am I trying to hide? Ash, what did you think all those men and women in uniform were, with a huge 'R' on their chest? Come on, use your brain for a goddamn second!" Ash stood up with a smoking lump on his head and his face flushed with embarrassment.

"When you talk like that, it sounds like I'm an idiot." Giovanni controlled himself not to hit the boy again, he took the hat that his former employee lost in the gym, put it in the boy's hand and got into the car. "Ash, put your old hat on and get in the car, you have to be at the airport in half an hour."

Ash shrugged his shoulders and the hat was on his head, but when he remembered the last part of the sentence, he raised an eyebrow. "Why the hell would I go to the airport?"

Giovanni hit his head on the steering wheel. "You go to Pokemon prep school in Hoenn." Ash started to laugh, but Giovanni's intimidating glare made the boy swallow hard.

"Are you kidding me?"

"GET IN THE DAMN CAR!"

"YES MISTER BOSS!"

"I AM NOT YOUR BOSS ANYMORE, STUPID BOY!"

"PIKACHU!" he said.

Even the Pokémon screamed in fright when Ash got into the sports car.

"Since I am going to pay to study at this school, the tuition is a fortune." Giovanni started the car's engine and smiled without looking at his passenger.

"Don't worry about money just do your best, for yourself and for everyone else who doesn't have the opportunity to live the dream. Now tell me, what are you really aiming for?" Ash was lost in thought, and a long-forgotten memory came back to him.

"Pichu, you and I are going to make it to the top of the world, just like Red did in the world championship final! Wow, that Charizard of his is so cool! A young Ash holding a Pokémon League flag watched the end of the world title battle on the old TV in his room.

"Pi Pichu" The electric mouse screamed excitedly, but because of the lack of control of its electricity, it ended up unloading everything on the boy, who fell to the ground with his body suffering spasms.

"I…also…am…excited." Ash lost consciousness, and Pikachu was poking the unconscious boy's cheek.

Ash felt something wet run down his face and when he put his hand up, he realized they were tears, but they weren't from sadness.

They were the happy tears of a heart that remembered what it really wants.

"I want to reach the top, be the best trainer in the world, with Pikachu by my side." Ash hugged his Pokemon, who looked at his friend curiously.

"So don't give up, if the determination you and Pikachu showed against my Rhydon yesterday is something standing in your way, the dream is possible. Now start your path as a Trainer by capturing your Pikachu." Giovanni handed a Poké Ball to Ash, who held it as if it were going to disappear.

Ash looked at Pikachu and asked the question that would define their fate. "Friend, do you want to be my Pokémon?" Pikachu blinked twice and yelled an excited "Pikapi" before slamming its paw into the Poké Ball, which sucked it up.

The sphere trembled three stools before it stopped moving... and three seconds later it opened by itself with Pikachu slumping onto Ash's lap, and looked at the sphere as if it were a sworn enemy.

"Pi, pikapi Pikachu chu, pika pikapi!" The yellow mouse pointed to the pokeball and crossed its paws. A comical bead of sweat broke out on the back of Ash's neck.

"Well... it looks like Pikachu doesn't like being inside the Poké Ball, is that a problem?" Giovanni shrugged.

"Nah, the champion of Kanto also has a Pikachu that hates being inside a Poké Ball, as long as you always have Pikachu's Poké Ball on hand, you won't have problems with the Pokémon league inspection, now buckle up and hold on, we lost a lot time and we only have 15 minutes to reach the airport." Giovanni started to accelerate the car, which was going too fast for Ash's comfort.

"Please go slowly!" Ash screamed with comical tears on his face, but Giovanni ignored him.

"I am driving a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, it would be a crime to go slow with this machine!"

"But you are a criminal!"

"Not when it comes to cars, now hold tight!"

Ash and Pikachu screamed in horror at Giovanni piloting like a maniac, and speaking of Giovanni?

He was having the best day of his life in a long time.

It's done, the first chapter of the story has been delivered. It will be based in an alternate universe, with a considerable part of it focused on a pseudo-school universe of the Pokemon world.

As you can see, in my version of the world in this work, being a pokémon trainer is a privilege reserved for few, think of the same analogy that a basketball or soccer player lives. Thousands of people dream of becoming athletes, but only a small handful of people reach their dream goal.

The same goes for Pokémon Trainers and Coordinators.

Characters who are students will be 18 years old, and champions and other names that will be introduced will have their ages revealed in the chapters in which they are introduced.

Ash's age: 18 years old.
Giovanni's age: 45 years old.
Steven's age: 30 years old.
Age of Dolores Hoffman (OC): 65 years old.
